'''Hyper Mode''' is a condition [[Shadow Pokémon]] will sometimes enter in [[Pokémon Colosseum]].

A Shadow Pokémon enters Hyper Mode during a [[Pokémon battle]], and it will spend a turn having its emotions "rise to a fever pitch". It will only have a chance of entering Hyper Mode if it has been ordered to use Shadow Rush. Its status meter will turn red and black, and an aura of the same color will appear around the Pokémon, presumably only seen by [[Rui]].

==Effects of Hyper Mode==
*{{m|Shadow Rush}} has an increased [[critical hit]] ratio.
*If the Pokémon is ordered to use any move other than Shadow Rush, one of the following can happen:
**It may disobey and use another move instead (usually Shadow Rush).
**It may turn and attack its teammate instead.
**It may attempt to use its item, even if it isn't holding one.
**It may hurt itself, as if it were confused.
**It may actually attack its trainer or the opposing trainer.
**It may use the chosen move normally and obediently, though this is very rare.
*[[Item]]s cannot be used on a Pokémon in Hyper Mode, with the obvious exception of colognes.

==Ending Hyper Mode==
Hyper Mode can be ended by either calling to a Pokémon in battle, using a [[cologne]] on it, or leaving it at the [[Pokémon Daycare]]. Doing this will "open the door to its heart" a bit and bring it closer to being [[Purification|purified]]. Some Shadow Pokémon respond to this better than others, based on their natures (even if the heart gauge isn't sufficiently empty to discover the Shadow Pokémon's nature), even going so far as to have a whole fifth of their heart gauge cleared just by calling it out of Hyper Mode.

Misingnoglic: /* Method #3 */

[[image:Wildmew.jpg|thumb|right|A wild {{p|Mew}} being found using the Mew glitch]]The '''Mew Glitch''' is a software bug in the [[Generation I]] Game Boy Games. This glitch is famous for allowing players to catch any Pokémon in the game, most notably {{p|Mew}}, without the use of GameShark or other hacking device. Method #3 allows you to catch any Pokémon in the game (even rare and previously unknown glitch Pokémon such as [[LM4]] and [[X - x]].)

==Methods==

Below are the methods on acquiring Mew in the Generation I Game Boy Games.

===Method #1===

To acquire Mew at the earliest point possible in the game, one must not have defeated the Youngster with the [[Level|Lv.]] 17 {{p|Slowpoke}} on [[Route 25]] or the Junior Trainer (the one who says "I saw your feat from the grass" when you begin a battle with him) on Route 24 in the grass. It is prudent to save before doing this. Defeat [[Nugget Bridge]] as per the usual, battling your way to the Youngster but ''do not engage a battle with him.''

Return to Route 24 and catch or trade over an {{p|Abra}}. Place the Abra in your party if it isn't, then return to Route 24 if you were not there already. Stand in front of the Junior Trainer, but out of range of his sight. Move down until he sees you, but when he does, '''immediately''' press START. Then use {{m|Teleport}} with your new Abra. If done correctly, the trainer should get the indicative exclamation mark as you Teleport.

Notice your menu will not work. Head North towards Route 25 to the Youngster and battle him. Do not battle anything or anyone else or talk to anyone before you do. This includes the Youngster. You '''must''' engage in battle by him seeing you, '''not''' by walking towards him. This will cause a lock-up.

After defeating the Youngster, Teleport to [[Cerulean City]]. Prepare yourself with [[Poké Ball|Poké Balls]] and go North to the Nugget Bridge. Once you reach the bridge, your start menu should appear. Press the B button and you should begin a battle against a Lv. 7 Mew, which is not difficult to catch.

===Method #2===
Go to the [[Gambler]] in front of the Underground Tunnel entrance east of [[Saffron City]]. Place yourself north of him so that he is just off screen. Take one step south closer to him, but make sure that he does not see you then '''immediately''' press START. If he spotted you, try again so that he doesn't. If it was successful, the menu will appear and you will be able to {{m|Fly}}, {{m|Dig}}, or {{m|Teleport}}. Use Fly to reach [[Cerulean City]]. While you are flying, the exclamation point that usually appears above a [[Pokémon Trainer|Trainer]]'s head when they wish to battle you will appear. Go to [[Route 24]] and defeat the trainer that owns a {{p|Slowpoke}}. Have him walks towards you to battle or the game will freeze. Defeat his Slowpoke, then Fly to [[Lavender Town]] and head west to [[Route 8]]. Mew will then appear.

(Note: You must battle the Slowpoke trainer on Route 24, but you do not have to battle the Gambler in front of the underground tunnel. Any trainer will do. One option is to battle one of the two bikers who are next to each other on [[Route 14]], then battle the Slowpoke trainer, then return to Route 14. Because Route 14 is isolated, players should use [[repel]] to prevent from running into Pokémon in the grass that would mess up the trick.)

===Method #3===
[[image:LM4Glitch2.jpg|frame|right|[[LM4|LM4]] is just one of hundreds of normal and glitch Pokémon that can be found using Method #3]]

Go to the [[Gambler]] east of [[Saffron City]] or either the [[Biker]] in western [[Route 14]] or the one just below him (there are two of them together). Have the trainer go off screen then walk up to him and '''immediately''' press START before the trainer spots you. When the menu appears, {{m|Fly}} to [[Fuchsia City]] and go east towards [[Route 15]]. Make sure a Pokémon with a [[Stat|Special Stat]] of 21 is with you. Place that Pokémon first in your party then battle ANY trainer in the game. Make sure the trainer walks up to you, and that you don't approach the trainer directly. Defeat the trainer and then find a wild {{p|Ditto}}. Keep yourself in battle with it long enough so that it uses {{m|Transform}} on your Pokémon with the Special Stat of 21. Then defeat the Ditto. After defeating it, avoid running into any other wild Pokémon and/or battling any other trainers. Go back to the Route where the trainer you first evaded is located (for the Gambler, east of Saffron City, for the Bikers, Route 14). Press the B Button and Mew will appear.

This method can be used to catch any Pokémon in the game, even [[Missingno.#Missingno. in Pokémon Yellow|Missingno. in the Yellow version]]. While a Pokémon with a specal stat of 21 will give you Mew, using a Pokémon with a different special stat will give you a different Pokémon. For example, in the Red/Blue versions, if a Pokémon with a special stat of 198 is used, a glitch called "[[LM4]]" will appear instead of Mew. (See [http://www.trsrockin.com/hexlist.html])

It is important to note that in the Yellow version, wild Ditto ''cannot'' be found at Route 15. Instead, Yellow version players should follow all of the steps above, but instead go to the [[Pokémon Mansion]]'s basement located in [[Cinnabar Island]]. This is because Ditto can be found there in the Yellow version. Also, Yellow version players must bring an Escape Rope, Repel, or a pokemon with teleport with them to use immediately after defeating a wild Ditto so that the player will not fail the glitch by running into the wrong Pokémon.

==Overview==
The glitch in fact works as follows: Any trainer can be used for the first section (Junior Trainer), as long as the trainer notices you as soon as they enter the game screen, and that you are walking towards them from either the top, left or right (walking from below will not work). Any movement move (Teleport, Dig, Fly) can be used to trigger the glitch, or Escape Rope if in a dungeon. For the Youngster, any Pokémon will do as long as it can be fought without walking up to a trainer. To finish off the glitch, you must return to the route of the trainer you "evaded." The Pokémon that you will find wild is dependent on the Special stat of the Pokémon you last faced (wild or from the trainer), and so using a Pokémon with the Special you need and finding a {{p|Ditto}} that transforms will produce an identical effect. For the record, the required Special stat for Mew is 21 (This is based on [http://www.trsrockin.com/hexlist.html hexadecimal numbers], so you can get the appropriate number for a different Pokémon from a hacking device code list, then translate it to decimal).
''''M''' is a [[glitch Pokémon]] found in the [[Pokémon]] [[Pokémon Red and Blue|Red and Blue]] [[Game Boy]] games, much like [[MissingNo.]]. It is most commonly called "'M", since the apostrophe and capital letter M are the only typographical characters in its name. It is also called "'M Block" because its name is comprised of two glitched box-like graphics with "' M " in the middle. 'M and other glitch Pokémon, appear in the games due to a programming oversight.

==Biology==
===Gender differences===
'M. is a genderless species, as the only games it was present in did not indicate Pokémon genders. Interestingly, however, given that it evolves into {{p|Kangaskhan}}, it could be assumed that it would be all-female if seen in [[Generation II]] or onward.

==Special abilities==
When one encounters 'M or [[MissingNo.]], the quantity of the sixth item in their bag becomes increased by 128. Also, if the trainer has [[Hall of Fame]] data, encountering 'M. corrupts it.

==Behavior==
==Habitat==
'M is found mainly on [[Cinnabar Island]]'s coast.
As the {{t|Bird}} type isn't weak, resistant, or immune to any type, 'M's secondary typing effectively does not affect its type advantages.

==How 'M is found==
The most common way players encounter 'M in the ''Red'' and ''Blue'' versions of ''Pokémon'' is by doing the following:
*Going to the northern part of Viridian City and watching the Old Man's demonstration of how to catch a Pokémon.
*{{m|Fly}}ing or {{m|Teleport}}ing to [[Cinnabar Island]] or [[Fuchsia City]].
*Surfing up and down along the east coast of Cinnabar Island or the [[Seafoam Islands]] closest to Fuchsia City until 'M appears. In Pokémon Stadium, the game saves automatically upon encountering 'M.<ref>[http://www.cheatsnetwork.com/cheats/2480.html Pokémon (Game Boy)] ''Cheats Network'' URL Accessed [[July 23]], [[2006]]</ref>, <ref>[http://pages.prodigy.net/maryjorhodes/codespok.htm Mew's Pokémon Gameboy Cheats] ''Pokémon Glitch Fan Site'' URL Accessed [[July 23]], [[2006]]</ref>
*Alternatively, a player can also cause 'M to appear by trading Pokémon with a friend via a link cable or with one of the in-game traders, then Flying or Teleporting to Cinnabar or the Seafoam Islands and surfing along the coast as mentioned before.

'M has no Pokédex description, and is not registered in the Pokédex. Encountering an 'M (or another glitch Pokémon, like [[Missingno.]]) will add 128 of the sixth item in the player's inventory if the player already has 127 or less of that sixth item. (The item's quantity will then appear as a pixel blob until brought down to 99 or fewer.<ref>[http://www.gamerevolution.com/cheat/gameboy/pokemon_bluered Pokémon Blured] ''Game Revolution'' URL Accessed [[July 23]], [[2006]]</ref>) Many players take advantage of this by duplicating rare items like [[Poké Ball|Master Ball]]s and [[Nugget]]s. Catching a glitch Pokémon can distort in-battle graphics and the Hall of Fame data; sending a glitch Pokémon to the storage PC may prevent the player from using the storage system unless they start a new game; this has not been proven. Severe glitches may erase saved games or even corrupt the entire cartridge.

==Appearance and attributes==
There are 256 available [[index number|memory "slots"]] for Pokémon data; 'M is found in the first slot, #0. (151 other slots are real Pokémon; 47 are trainers; 38 are Missingno., and the remaining 18 are other glitches like 'M.
<ref>[http://www.trsrockin.com/missingno4.html Missingno. Mystery Solved] ''Team Rocket Fansite'' URL Accessed [[July 23]], [[2006]]</ref>)

Although it seems at first glance to be like [[MissingNo.]], they are actually different glitches with many differences; for example, 'M can evolve into {{p|Kangaskhan}} while Missingno. cannot. Missingno.'s cry differs between a shortened version of {{p|Nidoran♂}}'s cry and {{p|Dragonair}}'s cry, whereas 'M's cry is a slightly different version of {{p|Zapdos}}'s cry. If 'M is traded to the [[Yellow version]], it will become a [[3TrainerPoké]], but when Missingno. is traded to the Yellow version, it stays as Missingno. (although it will behave differently then the Red/Blue Missingno.).

In the party, 'M will appear as the glitched sprite of a person in the area where the player currently is.

'M, like most forms of [[Missingno.]], appears as a mass of pixels in a backwards 'L' shape. Its icon in the Pokémon menu is also glitched, often appearing as a pixelated Surfing icon or a black blob (it changes based on the player's location). When used in [[Pokémon Stadium (English)|Pokémon Stadium]], it looks like a {{m|Substitute}} doll.

Also like [[Missingno.]], 'M is often of the type Bird/Normal, knows {{m|Sky Attack}} and two {{m|Water Gun}}s, has the ID number #000, does not appear in the Pokédex, and is found through the same glitches as Missingno. is. However, it is ''not'' the same Pokémon. 'M and the different versions of Missingno are located in different memory slots; also, 'M has a different cry, learns {{m|Pound}} at level 138, and can evolve into a {{p|Kangaskhan}}. (Its evolution is not random: 'M's identifier is 0 and Kangaskhan's is 2.)<ref>[http://www.trsrockin.com/hexlist.html R/B Hex List] ''Team Rocket Fansite'' URL Accessed [[July 27]], [[2006]]</ref>

When the player captures or defeats an 'M, the battle will continue. Capturing "'M" again will result in capturing a {{p|Ditto}}; why this happens is unknown.
==Advantages and disadvantages of 'M==
Encountering 'M, [[Missingno.]], and other glitch Pokémon often interferes with the saved game data in various ways. Trainer and Pokémon graphics during battle are corrupted; the Hall of Fame data is extremely glitched (changes in screen color, music, and game speed have been known to occur alongside the obvious unidentifiable pixelations substituting for where Pokémon appeared).

'M's presence also allows what is known as the "[[Rare Candy Cheat]]" or "Item Duplication Cheat", the Pokémon games' infamous item duplication bug, which adds 128 of the sixth item in the player's inventory, if the player already has less than 128 of that sixth item. It is commonly used to duplicate valuable and hard-to-obtain items, such as [[Rare Candy|Rare Candies]], [[PP Up]]s, and Master Balls. However, the duplication bug can affect any item in the game, not just Rare Candies. Using the bug to duplicate Key Items is possible, allowing the player to obtain more fossils for reviving {{p|Kabuto}}, {{p|Omanyte}}, and {{p|Aerodactyl}}; though many do not recommend this, as the player cannot get rid of duplicated key items through "tossing" or selling, and they serve only to take up inventory space.

The coasts where 'M may be found are used for other cheats as well. If the player {{m|Surf}}s along the coasts after leaving an area where certain wild Pokémon appear, those Pokémon will continue to appear by the coast, even if they are not water-dwelling Pokémon. This is because Surfing along the coasts does not overwrite the data for which wild Pokémon are available, and if the player's name has not been stored in that area through one of the procedures above, the previous wild Pokémon will appear. (see reference 4) This glitch can be used to fight Pokémon from the Safari Zone in a normal battle.

Another advantage of the 'M is its ability to evolve into {{p|Kangaskhan}}. TMs and HMs taught to 'M will carry over when it evolves to Kangaskhan, enabling a Kangaskhan to have moves it wouldn't ordinarily be able to learn, like {{m|Fly}}.

The blocks in 'M's name depend on which sprite is occupying the spot where the player's Pokémon appears.

==Charizard 'M==
Other in-game glitches (notably the [[Mew glitch]]) can produce the "Charizard 'M", a Pokémon named 'M but with the {{p|Charizard}} graphic. It is not to be confused with [[Glitchy Charizard]], a similar but unrelated glitch caused by the [[Mew glitch]]. Charizard 'M is a different from the typical 'M, and causes significantly more damage to the game. Charizard 'M can also change all of a player's [[party]] Pokémon into Charizard 'M, but the moves and type do not change, and putting these "transformed" Pokémon into a box makes the other Pokémon Charizard 'M also.

Depending on the circumstances, Charizard 'M can overwrite the player's name with the letter Z, engage a new battle from the battle screen, or transform all party Pokémon into {{p|Bulbasaur}}.<ref>[http://www.trsrockin.com/dex_charzm.html Dex Charizard] ''Team Rocket Fansite'' URL Accessed [[July 23]], [[2006]]</ref>

Charizard 'M can be obtained by doing the following:
*Catch a [[44Hy]] in the Yellow version by doing Method #3 of the [[Mew glitch]] using a Pokémon with a special stat of 192, or trade a [[A|Lowercase A glitch]] from Red/Blue
*Evolve the [[44Hy]] into a [[Q]] (the Yellow equivalent of Charizard 'M)
*Trade the [[Q]] to the Red/Blue and it will become Charizard 'M

Unlike other glitch Pokémon, a Charizard 'M's ID number is always #000 and its Original Trainer will either be blank or a set of letters partially from the player's name. As a result, it is impossible to nickname a Charizard 'M. Its cry is static and sometimes causes the background music to end. Charizard 'M is found in all the slots from 248 to 255, not slot 0 like 'M; they are not the same glitch. Its type, like a normal Charizard's, is Fire/Flying. (See above reference.) There are reports that Charizard 'M can be used to swap moves of Pokémon stored in the PC, depending on the order they are withdrawn. Additionally, Charizard 'M is not recognized by the game as a Pokémon in many circumstances. If a player places it in his or her party, it will render all other Pokémon invisible. (See above reference.) Furthermore, Charizard 'M cannot be healed at a Pokémon Center.

The Charizard 'M learns different attacks than a normal 'M: it learns Swords Dance at level 9, Slam at 11, TM50 (a glitch attack, not the move Substitute) at level 19, a nameless glitch attack at level 28, TM09 at level 30, Aurora Beam at 32, TM29 (another glitch, not Psychic) at level 33, Karate Chop at level 40, and Jack (apparently a glitch which reads one of the pre-loaded names for the player character or rival) at level 62. (See above reference.)

Although Charizard 'M seems to be the most common form (possibly caused by a blank spot in the party), this glitch can also appear as another Pokémon, such as {{p|Gengar}}, {{p|Machop}}, {{p|Ditto}}, or {{p|Butterfree}}. The glitch will have the same types as the normal Pokémon, but will learn very different level-up moves.

==In ''Pokémon Stadium''==
'M and [[Missingno.]] can be uploaded to ''[[Pokémon Stadium (English)|Pokémon Stadium]]'', and (if the game doesn't freeze) will look like Substitute dolls (small {{p|Rhydon}} or {{p|Kangaskhan}}-like figures that appear when a Pokémon uses the ''Substitute'' attack). 'M's graphic is blue and Missingno.'s is purple. When viewed in the Pokémon Center, all of 'M's stats will be question marks (including the Pokédex species ID number, even though the Game Boy versions identify 'M and Missingno. as #000). However, 'M will not be allowed to battle, nor will it function correctly in the Gallery (in which players can take pictures of Pokémon). Photos of it will not develop if taken.

If 'M or any other glitch Pokémon is selected in the "see list", the game will freeze, playing the music without the bass track in the background. If a player tries to view 'M's stats, the game will also freeze on occasion. <ref>[http://www.console-cheats.com/nintendo64/PokemonStadium.shtml Pokémon Stadium Cheats] ''Console Cheats'' URL Accessed [[July 23]], [[2006]]</ref>

==Generation II==
'M cannot be traded to [[Pokémon Gold and Silver]] because it does not exist in the second generation. In the trade center, 'M appears as a {{p|Slowpoke}} or {{p|Tyrogue}}. When the players try to trade 'M, a message appears stating "Your friend's ['M's name] appears to be abnormal." and the trade is canceled automatically. Less often, 'M can be traded, in which case it turns into the Pokémon it was displayed as. <ref>[http://pages.prodigy.net/maryjorhodes/codespok.htm Code Pok] ''Prodigy.net'' URL Accessed [[July 23]], [[2006]]</ref>

Similar problems present themselves when attempting to transfer 'M or [[Missingno.]] to Pokémon Stadium 2. If successfully transferred, 'M and Missingno. will become a {{p|Ditto}}. <ref>[http://www.funtrivia.com/en/VideoGames/Pokemon-RedBlueYellow*-13505.html Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow] ''Fun Trivia'' URL Accessed [[July 23]], [[2006]]</ref>

==Trivia==
*'M's sprite, movepool, and stats are identical to [[Missingno.]]'s, but with two move differences: Missingno. cannot learn {{m|Pound}}. and 'M is incompatible with {{TM|50|Substitute}}.
*'M's cry is almost exactly identical to that of {{p|Zapdos}}.
*Since it evolves into {{p|Kangaskhan}}, it can be assumed that all 'M are female (if introduced into a game where genders exist).
*'M is twice as large as Missingno., but not nearly as heavy.

==Biology==
===Gender differences===
'M. is a genderless species, as the only games it was present in did not indicate Pokémon genders. Interestingly, however, given that it evolves into {{p|Kangaskhan}}, it could be assumed that it would be all-female if seen in [[Generation II]] or onward.

==Special abilities==
When one encounters 'M or [[MissingNo.]], the quantity of the sixth item in their bag becomes increased by 128. Also, if the trainer has [[Hall of Fame]] data, encountering 'M. corrupts it.

==Behavior==
==Habitat==
'M is found mainly on [[Cinnabar Island]]'s coast.
Since 'M does not exist in any game that uses the Special Attack and Special Defense stats, only its Special stat is listed.

As the {{t|Bird}} type isn't weak, resistant, or immune to any type, 'M's secondary typing effectively does not affect its type advantages.

==How 'M is found==
The most common way players encounter 'M in the ''Red'' and ''Blue'' versions of ''Pokémon'' is by doing the following:

==Appearance and attributes==

==Advantages and disadvantages of 'M==

==Charizard 'M==

==In ''Pokémon Stadium''==

==Generation II==

[[Image:Glitch_City_Map1.jpg|thumb|300px|right|Partially complete map of the Red/Blue version Glitch City accessed through the Cinnabar Coast]]
'''Glitch City''' is a term used by [[Pokémon games|Pokémon gamers]] to refer to a hidden fictional city caused by a [[computer bug|bug]] that occurs in the [[Pokémon]] video game [[Pokémon Red and Blue|Red, Blue]] and [[Pokémon Yellow|Yellow]] versions. The term Glitch City is not to be confused with Blue Hell - a more general term that refers to a non-existent area in any interactive game.
===Finding Glitch City===

#Go to the [[Kanto Safari Zone|Safari Zone]] and walk around about 150 steps. (this will prevent having to walk/Surf up and down continuously later)
#When asked "Leaving early?" say No.
#In the Safari Zone, save the game, turn it off and turn it back on again.
#Leave the Safari Zone entirely by saying "no" (the question becomes inversed)
#Fly anywhere (for the Glitch City that is easiest to walk around in, fly to Cinnabar Island's east coast)
#Move for 500 steps, and then "Ding-dong!" will appear
#Leave the Safari Building and you will be in Glitch City

===Location===
There is more than one Glitch City, and one can find them by going somewhere other than Cinnabar (like [[Cycling Road]] or [[Victory Road (Kanto)|Victory Road]]).This means that a player can create different glitch cities depending on where they are when the timer sounds. The Seafoam Islands and a few routes allows the player to move around; however, in most other Glitch Cities, the player will be surrounded by objects with a solid property (such as a post outside of Glitch City), and unable to walk around.

When a player uses their map in the Glitch City accessed through the Cinnabar Coast, it will say that they are in the Sea Route 20. However, Glitch City looks nothing like the Sea Route 20. (The player's map depends on which Glitch City they went to; for example, if the player goes to Cycling road instead of the Cinnabar Coast, the map will say the player is on Cycling Road instead of Sea Route 20). The Glitch City accessed through the Cinnabar Coast is located below Sea Route 20.

===Highlights===
The most common Pokémon found in the Glitch City accessed through the Cinnabar coast are Tentacool. A player can also fish for Pokémon in Glitch City.

Going too far to the left or right will often get the player stuck in an invisible wall. If one presses Start, often the graphics and pixels of the city will change briefly.

In Pokémon Yellow you may also see {{p|Pikachu}} running in random places.

The area in which the surfing part of the glitch takes place has some sort of 'unspecified' designator given by the designers which makes numerous glitches happen (including [[Missingno.]] and [['M]]. However, if the player is not on the Cinnabar coast and in the water just off shore when the Safari Zone "Ding-Dong" occurs, the player will be sent to the same Glitch City that that player would've been sent to if he/she had been on the coast. Also, the Glitch City "Ding-Dong" can take place ''anywhere'' (see "Location" section above) even though in some places such as Viridian City, an actual glitched city will not occur.)
The music in the Glitch City accessed through the Cinnabar Coast is the same music theme as the one played on routes.

In Glitch City, pixels and graphics from different parts of the game are mixed up (see picture). The land and water can also be mixed up so sometimes it appears that the player is standing on water or surfing on land. This is usually caused by using a fishing rod or pausing the game (which causes parts of Glitch City to change). If the whole city turns to water (which is sometimes possible), the player can keep surfing forever until the player gets stuck or the game automatically shuts off. (However, a player should not surf for long distances while in Glitch City, because it can corrupt a player's game.) In the Yellow version, if one goes to the right, they will find a row with 3 9's. If they walk into this, Pikachu will disappear. When he/she walks out of it, Pikachu will follow their "recorded" path back to them.

In the Glitch City accessed through the Cinnabar Coast, in some cases players are able to surf in northern direction until they reach the barrier that normally prevents them to leave Sea Route 20 northward. When reached, however, the graphics become even more glitchy and the entire game freezes. If this is done while playing Pokémon Stadium, it will say the game has been corrupted, but the game is actually ''not'' corrupted (Pokémon Stadium just interprets it as being corrupted).

Because invisible walls that trap the player exist on the western side of the city, going north is usually the only way to escape the "normal" Glitch City. If a player goes to the westernmost "checker-board" water pattern in the city, and goes left of it one square and then right one square, this will enable the entire city to become water (when the player presses "start") and allow the player to swim north until they reach the barrier that normally cannot be crossed (causing the game to freeze). Once the player is far enough north, before reaching the northern border the player can swim east or west for a long period of time until the game freezes.

The reason the game freezes when heading too far north, east or west is because the player is surfing into a location that does not exist in the game's memory; as a result, the game cannot function. The only safe way out is by heading due south. It also happens in places that do exist but are completely altered. For example, when the player is able to surf considerably far north and then surfs west, they will reach where Cinnabar Island should be. However, because the game is in a glitched state it does not recognize the Island and when the player tries to go where the Island is, it will freeze. (The reason flying out of Glitch City successfully ends the Glitch is because those places are in different parts of the game's memory.)

Although the Cinnabar Island Glitch City is most famous, others are also notable. If a player goes to Cycling Road instead of the Cinnabar Coast to do the Glitch City trick, they will go to a Glitch City where they are always automatically walking downward. This is because normally the bicycle the player is on in Cycling Road automatically goes downward. Also, if said player tries to get on their bike it will say "You can't get off here," which is the normal message displayed when a player is trying to get ''off'' their bike on Cycling Road. It should be noted that a player goes to the southern-most point of cycling road where it is not sloped, that player will be sent to a different glitch city where they can't move at all. While doing the Glitch City glitch, if the player goes to Victory Road instead of Cinnabar Island, the Glitch City created will contain statues from the Indigo Plateau/Victory Road. In the [[Pokémon Yellow|Yellow version]], if the player goes to [[Route 13]] while doing the Glitch City trick, the player will be transported to a Glitch City where any move the player makes will send him or her to the Saffron City gym. Once he or she leaves the gym, the player will be in a completely different Glitch City.

===Other facts===
The only way out of Glitch City is to fly out, so if one saves the game, one should make sure there is a Pokémon that can fly out. As a precaution, players going to Glitch City should '''''never''''' save the game in Glitch City, even if they have a Pokémon that can fly out. (For example, if any player saves the game in Glitch City and they realize they do not have a Pokémon that can fly out, '''they will be stuck in Glitch City''' '''forever'''.)

The Glitch Cities found in the Yellow version are different to those that are found in the Red and Blue versions.

The reason that this glitch takes place is, when a player performs the glitch to leave Safari Zone, the game still has its timer on. When the timer ends, it sends the player to the gatehouse. The reason for glitch cities is because the warp in the Safari Zone Gate are values FF. This tells the game to teleport the player to the last city or route he/she was at. Another part of the Warp is a "Warp-to", which tells the game which warp on the map to warp the player to. Each map has a certain number of warps, and the warp in the memory tells the game to take the player to the fourth warp in the map. Although, some routes/cities don't have 4 warps, in fact, some routes have no warps. So when the game is told to take a player to a warp that doesn't exist, it gets confused, and takes them to a glitched area.

==Prevention of Glitch City in later games==
The Safari Zone was not included in the [[Pokémon Gold and Silver|Gold]], [[Pokémon Gold and Silver|Silver]] and [[Pokémon Crystal|Crystal]] versions -- regardless of whether or not it was deliberately removed because of Glitch City (which has lead to much speculation but nothing is known for sure), the removal of the Safari Zone nonetheless prevents Glitch City from occurring the way it does in the Red, Blue and Yellow versions.

In [[Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire|Pokémon Ruby]], [[Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire|Sapphire]], and [[Pokémon Emerald|Emerald]], the player must exit the Safari Zone by using the Start menu and selecting "Retire." A warden also goes outside and blocks the door, so the player cannot return to the Safari Zone lobby while using the Safari Zone.

In [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen|Pokémon FireRed]] and [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen|LeafGreen]], the player cannot save the game in the Safari Zone, therefore making it impossible to access Glitch City.

A way to reach the closest thing there is to Glitch City in [[Pokémon Gold and Silver]] without using the [[GameShark]] is to listen to the cry of any Machop (including the Pokédex and the ones in Goldenrod Mart) then immediately use the coin case. It is also possible to use this trick with another Pokémon to make the coin case say Coins: Which move? instead of Coins: (number of coins). Once a player activates this glitch, the game will automatically "reset" and the opening sequence will be glitched up and the colors inverted at certain points. Once the player begins gameplay, the buildings are all blue and red, the ground is multi-colored, and the battle screen colors are different. The game will also be much slower than usual.
Professor Oak was always well-known in [[Kanto]] but in [[Generation II]] he became more of a celebrity. He started to be famous in [[Johto]] because of his Radio Show with [[DJ Mary]]. ==In the Pokémon Special manga==
When Professor Oak first appeared, [[Red (Special)|Red]] had wandered into [[Professor Oak's Laboratory|his lab]] and was immediately accused of being a thief. In his haste, Red accidentally released all the Pokémon in the lab, including Bulbasaur, causing the two to track them down and re-capture them. After being saved by Red from a {{p|Machoke}} attack in [[Viridian City]], Oak gave Red the Bulbasaur and a Pokédex. Oak later appeared in Volume 3 of the RBG Saga and battled [[Blue (Special)|Blue]] under the alias "Doctor O" and revealed Blue's phobia of Flying-type Pokémon and her theft of Squirtle. However, he showed compassion by giving her the last Pokédex and forfeiting his position in the [[Pokémon League]].

In the GSC Saga, Oak is now known as the leading authority on Pokémon in both [[Kanto]] and [[Johto]] and has developed the three new Pokédexes. The first was stolen by [[Silver (Special)|Silver]], the second and third he gave to [[Gold (Special)|Gold]] and [[Crystal (Special)|Crystal]]. During the battle with the [[Mask of Ice]], he gave out the titles to the six Pokédex holders and [[Yellow (Special)|Yellow]]. At the end, he employed Crystal as his assistant and thanks to her, the Pokédex had been filled and he owned all non-legendary Pokémon as research.

In the FRLG Saga, Oak was captured by the [[Beast Warrior Trio]] to lure Red, [[Green (Special)|Green]] and Blue to the Sevii Islands; but not before he recalled their three Pokédexes. After he was freed at [[Trainer Tower (game)|Trainer Tower]], Oak upgraded the Pokédexes to add the National Dex capability.

One of Professor Oak's projects was a full analysis of a report holding all information on the last awakening of {{p|Jirachi}}. From this, he worked out that it would appear where the Battle Frontier was being built during its opening week. He immediately contacted [[Scott]] and, while he would not move the opening, Professor Oak managed to convince Scott to allow a Pokédex holder to guard Jirachi. This was [[Emerald (Special)|Emerald]]. However, someone stole the disc with all the data from Professor Oak's lab.
===Pokémon===
He has these Pokémon, or has owned them in the past (updated as to the current situation of the FRLG Saga):
*{{p|Charmander}}: given to [[Green (Special)|Green]]
*{{p|Squirtle}}: stolen by [[Blue (Special)|Blue]]

==In the TCG==
[[Professor Oak (Base Set)|Professor Oak]] appears on a self-named card in the [[TCG]] which when played allows the player to discard their hand and draw seven cards. This card appears in the [[Base Set (TCG)|Base Set]].

He is also on the card ''Prof. Oak's Research'', which lets the player shuffle their hand into their deck and draw five cards. This card appears in the [[Expedition (TCG)|Expedition]] set.

In addition, there is an [[Imposter Professor Oak (Base Set)|imposter version]] which requires the opponent to shuffle their hand into his deck and draw seven cards, which also appears on a card called [["Imposter Oak's revenge"]] in the [[Team Rocket (TCG)|Team Rocket]] set, a card which makes one's opponent do the same with only drawing four cards, but requires one of the player's own cards to be discarded.
==In the Pokémon Special manga==

===Pokémon===
He has these Pokémon, or has owned them in the past (updated as to the current situation of the FRLG Saga):
====On hand====
*{{p|Chansey}} (ラキっち ''Lucky-tchi''): given to [[Daisy Oak|Daisy]]
*{{p|Bulbasaur}}: given to [[Red (Special)|Red]]
*{{p|Charmander}}: given to [[Green (Special)|Green]]
*{{p|Squirtle}}: stolen by [[Blue (Special)|Blue]]

==In the TCG==

==Structure==
The best example articles for structure are {{p|Bulbasaur}}, {{p|Charmander}} and {{p|Squirtle}}.

The Pokémon species articles are increasingly complex. However, to keep articles organized, the names, order and content of the sections should be according to the model below.

'''Refer to this model frequently when adding sections to a Pokémon species article, as the names, order and content of sections are all being standardized in all species articles. If you would like to update the model, please do so with regard to both the flow of the article and the standards set forth in Bulbapedia's {{bp|manual of style}}. Please consult other participants of the project on the talk page before making major changes to the model, particularly any regrouping or reorganizing of categories.'''

===Article model===

====Full====
The article should start off with the [[Template:PokémonPrevNext]] bar, followed by the Pokémon Infobox, followed by a general description of the Pokémon, including any special points (such as if it's a starter Pokémon in any games), a brief description of its abilities, and levels or ways in which the Pokémon evolves

After this, it can be broken into three sections: general information, game statistics, and other information. Note that it is not broken down into these three sections within the articles themselves. Also note that the text for sections should not be indented within the text editor - it is merely indented here to aid in showing the heirarchy of sections.

Please note that there is no ''In the games'' section because an entire greater section of the article is devoted to game statistics.

'''General information'''
----

'''<nowiki>=Biology=</nowiki>'''
<br>Information in these subsections must be derived from a canon source, such as the Pokédex entries or the Pokémon anime.<br>
:'''<nowiki>==Physiology==</nowiki>'''
:A description of the Pokémon's physical structure, possible related Pokémon based on similarities, and any physical adaptations the Pokémon has made to its surroundings. Physical variations among members or groups of the species can also be noted here.
::'''<nowiki>===Gender differences===</nowiki>'''
::Any notable difference between males and females in the species, as one would note by comparing the Diamond and Pearl sprites. Alternate gender counterparts, such as with the two genders of Nidoran, are also linked to in this section.
::'''<nowiki>===Special abilities===</nowiki>'''
::A description of any unusual and elemental abilities the Pokémon often displays, such as those related to its elemental type.
:'''<nowiki>==Behavior==</nowiki>'''
:A description of the Pokémon's behavior, both in the wild and after being captured.
:'''<nowiki>==Habitat==</nowiki>'''
:A description of regions where the Pokémon is commonly found.
:'''<nowiki>==Diet==</nowiki>'''
:All articles should link to the Pokémon food article rather than detail diet characteristics considered universal among Pokémon. Instead, this section should contain a description of any notable or unusual points about the Pokémon's diet.
'''<nowiki>=In the anime=</nowiki>'''
<br>Only added if the Pokémon appears in the anime. Please link to the Pokémon anime article at the start of this section.
<br>First, any details about the Pokémon species exclusive to the anime. Then, any episodes, movies, and specials from the Pokémon anime where the Pokémon has made an appearance, and a detailed description of their importance and role. For recurring Pokémon, only their first appearance, last appearance, and any particularly important appearances should be listed, with links to the specific Pokémon's article where further details can be found. Appearances should be listed chronologically, regardless of importance.<br>
===Tables within the articles===
Basic formatting for a Pokémon species article table is as follows:

<nowiki>{| border="1" style="border: 1px solid #999; border-collapse: collapse; background: white; margin: auto;" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2"</nowiki>
<br>! Heading
<br>|-
<br>| Content
<br>| Content
<br>|}

Replace the "COLOR" with the template for the color code of the Pokémon's primary type - or, if their primary type is Normal and they have a secondary type, the color code of the Pokémon's secondary type. The template's name is the type name and "color". For example, <nowiki>{{grass color}}</nowiki> is the template for a Grass-type Pokémon.

==Goals==
# Expand Pokémon pages to have at least a paragraph of information about a Pokémon, preferably background information on that Pokémon. The {{p|Bulbasaur}} page is a good example of a simple introduction paragraph.
# Add all locations in all games, including the side games ([[Pokémon Snap]], [[Pokémon Pinball]], [[Pokémon Pinball: Ruby/Sapphire]], [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon]], [[Pokémon Trozei]], and [[Pokémon Ranger]], to name some of the more important ones).
</pre>
Rarity and Area refer to how common or uncommon a Pokémon is. What precedes them are the initials of the versions that the specific instance applies to, [[Pokémon Red and Blue|RB]], [[Pokémon Yellow|Y]], [[Pokémon Gold and Silver|GS]], [[Pokémon Crystal|C]], [[Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire|RS]], [[Pokémon Emerald|E]], [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen|FRLG]], [[Pokémon Colosseum|Colo]], [[Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness|XD]], and [[Pokémon Diamond and Pearl|DP]]. For example, whatever is entered into the frlgarea should be where the Pokémon can be found in FireRed and LeafGreen. Likewise, frlgrarity should be how rare the Pokémon is in FireRed and LeafGreen. If only one is found, such as is the case with {{p|Mewtwo}}, put "One". If it can only be found through evolution, put "None" and for the area prompt put "Evolve from (pre-evolution)", replacing (pre-evolution) with the name of the Pokémon it evolves from. Likewise, if it is only available through breeding, put "None" and in the area prompt put "Breed (evolutions)", replacing (evolutions) with the Pokémon that must produce the egg.

Rarity defaults to "None", Area defaults to "Trade". Therefore, if it can only be found through [[Pal Park]] in Diamond and Pearl, this must be entered in the dparea prompt. If a Pokémon is only available in one of a pair of versions, put the version it is available in in parentheses after the area. If it is a [[Shadow Pokémon]] found in Colosseum or XD, put <nowiki>[[Shadow Pokémon|Shadow]]</nowiki> in parentheses after the area.
