Rephrasing
The line "Unlike previous trios, the golems share much more similar names, at the cost of having their types be estranged from the standard..." is somewhat odd. How does having similar names cost them their potential types? How is Regifire and Regilectricity hard to do? Besides, the Regis are golems. Golems are constructs of materials by humans and somehow magically animated. I can't see anyone stacking fire (well, Diablo II did) or electricity into a golem... rock, ice and steel are much more conventional building blocks, as each are used in the construction of buildings. The lake trio doesn't fall under the standard types for trios either, but they don't have any cost associated with their names. I just find it wierd is all... --ZellMurasame 04:48, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
:Well, they were pretty much the first trio to have their types not the (then) standard Fire/Electric/Water-Ice, and the first trio whose names were similar. In fact... they're the only trio to do that. It's not the fact that their names cost them their types, it's just that their names are more similar, however, unlike the others, their types aren't the Gen I/II pattern. <span style="background:#FF9030"><span style="color:#FF0000">TTE</span><span style="color:#000000">chidna</span></span><span style="background:#664444"><span style="color:#FFD700">G</span><span style="color:#E0E0E0">S</span><span style="color:#000000">DS!</span></span> 11:16, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
:::Well Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres are similar names; they each contain a Latin whole number in sequence, corresponding to its order in the Pokédex. I guess you can't really say they diverge from the norm since they were the originals, but the name and type differences of the Regis is really just a reference to their being golems, not one as a result of the other. I just think this line needs to be rewritten, but I'm not sure how to do so without just saying something to the effect of "Unlike the previous trios, the golems share more similar names and their types diverge from the standard..." --ZellMurasame 15:22, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
:::::Their types diverge from the standard? The birds are ice, electric and fire. The beasts types diverge 33% from the "standard" only using electric and fire again. Do the requirements to unlock each individual regi change between the different games? You claim that they're the only types of which statues can be made, but after all, topiary is basically the art of making grass statues, and clay (which is used to make terracotta statues) is usually associated with the Ground type, which doesn't have a corresponding golem. And if you'd like to offer an attempt at arguing that it's possible to make a statue out of "normal", be my guest. The regi made of clay wouldn't have the name 'Regiground' as it is not ground in its most 'typical' form, so it would be 'Regiclay'. And 'Regigrass' would not be able to exist as an ancient golem, as it would rot. And Regigigas, yeah... ...the normal type can mean many different things, sometimes it is able to make a statue from and sometimes not. My conclusion is: those types are the only types you could make a statue from in its most 'TYPICAL' form AND can be a statue for FOREVER. == Regigigas ==

I believe that Regigigas is too related to be excluded from being a part of the Legendary titans... after all, Regigigas created the other three titans and is highly linked. We have the Swords of Justice as a quartet including Keldeo, and I think the links that Regigigas have are just as notable. --Celadonkey 15:39, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
:Now that I think it, Regigigas is a member of the group and a trio leader like Cobalion, Rayquaza, and Landorus for example. so yeah I say we add Regigigas to the page, after getting approval of course.--Jacob Kogan (talk) 15:42, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
::Hold your horses — before we get carried away, I think we should try to figure out exactly how the term "Legendary titans" is used in official sources. (Unfortunately, the citation in the article is now a dead link, so I can't check that.) If its official use is only to refer to the trio, we can't add Regigigas because that would be fanon — well supported fanon, but fanon nonetheless. On the other hand, if it has ever been officially used to refer to all four (or Regigigas alone), it would be best to add it to the article.
::Tl;dr it's not a matter of how notable the links are, it's about how the official term has been used in official contexts. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 15:48, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
:::Great point. When we’re not able to go back and check the link it’s even more of an issue.

:::That being said, though, it creates an interesting conundrum: four Pokémon that are very much related enough for group status, which is a largely fanon idea, but there’s an official name for the group, with unknown usage. It’s a situation that I don’t think has happened before. I’m not saying that we should anything about it, but it’s a interesting nonetheless.

:::I also was not able to find, outside of the dead link cited on the page, any official usage of “Legendary titans”, and I checked archives to the dead link, but no dice. I wonder if anyone has a screenshot or copies of the text. --Celadonkey 17:56, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
::::Ah, I see Abcboy has updated the link (thanks for that, Abcboy!). The text of that page seems ambiguous to me; it refers to them as "the Legendary titans of the Hoenn region", which could either be a way of distinguishing them from Regigigas (with it included as a titan, but not one of the Hoenn titans) or just a way of describing the group (with Regigigas excluded). Given the ambiguity, I have to say I'm agnostic on the matter until and unless we get more official materials that use the term in the future.
With the Crown Tundra's recent release, in-game text refers to the group as "legendary giants" rather than "legendary titans". As the term "titans" was used officially before, it makes sense to me to keep the original name, instead of spending time changing one word on every relevant page. It seems to me like the company is merely advertising the game in this manner because this is how the fandom always refers to the games, that is, without the word "version". Furthermore, this is probably simpler since it saves them the trouble of having to write "version" in several different languages all at once (remember, this is getting an instant worldwide release, and "Pokemon" is pretty universal while "version" isn't). ::::::::They would have been pretty stupid if they made them able to move only horizontally or vertically, and unable to jump. What kind of argument is that? The point is that the X axis on a graph goes across, the Y axis goes up, and is the Y Pokemon that flies, while the X pokemon is on the ground, not the opposite. However, as I said, we should wait. I'm not saying that the coordinates theory is the right one (well, that's my intuition), but I don't think you have any proof to say for sure that they're related to chromosomes either, except a small low definition detail on the logo that could be anything.
It should be added on this page, but there isn't much anyone can write about it, as nothing is known except for the fact it's similar to Mewtwo. (Although in my opinion, I think it should just be noted with a photo about the new Pokemon in the Pokemon X and Y page and the Generation VI page). Btw, this new generation is totaly getting me pumped up for October! I know thats not a place to say that, but yea, just wanted to put that out there! LOL Hopefully new information will be available soon! :) PokeNerd 07:07, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Well, it's been added. Now we have to keep an eye out for its name... Maybe in the meantime we could just call it "New Mewtwo". MasterZ (talk) 20:15, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
:NO. Absolutely no speculating for now.
While I agree 100% with no speculation, if the image is there, the presence of this new Mewtwo-like Pokemon and its role in the new movie should be mentioned under "New Pokemon", especially since I believe that would make it the first Gen VI Pokemon to appear in the anime.
I agree, leave it how it is! There is nothing further that anyone can tell at this time! Like I said above, they have only stated it shares similarities to Mewtwo and nothing else at this time! Naming it "??????????" is pointless, having a photo on the Pokemon X and Y page is just fine (how it is now). When more CONCRETE evidence is revealed, then a page should and will be made for the new Pokemon! Till then, lets just be amazed and in awe of this new Pokemon! :) PokeNerd 11:10, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
Should the Korean box art be under the Japanese box art?
Since both the Japanese and Korean box art for Pokémon X and Y have two different writing systems (which is the main difference not only between each other but also the box art of the Americas and Europe) should it also be included not only in this article as well as the other games that also have Korean box art? ::Well that is true, which is why I would like the box art of the Korean versions that have been created such as the original Pokémon Gold and Silver as well as all the generation IV and V games that have Korean box art to also be part of the respective games' articles in the same way the Japanese box art is hidden until one clicks for it to be shown. :::We include the English-language box art because we are an English-language wiki and we include the Japanese box art because it is the original. If we included any others, we would have to include all of them, which would be quite unwieldy (even with a [show]/[hide] box). == 09/17 Japanese eShop trailer (evening, clothing customization, radical ledge revolution) ==

The Japanese eShop trailer has revealed the following! I apologize if any of this is old information -- I have trouble keeping everything straight.
*The trainer's hand is visible when catching a Pokémon. Pokémon don't have any special animations for the capture sequence.
*Houndour horde.
*When Mega Evolving a Pokémon, their (possibly updated) stats and health bar will reappear before the process is over. The Mega-evolved Pokémon will be listed under its normal name, with a Mega Stone icon next to its level.
*Battles and trades through the Player Search System take place in a holographic-style environment.
*Evening is present in the game. You can see the sun setting behind the Tower of Mastery.
*Clothing customization seems straightforward. When accessing the clothing customization screen, the player can select "Hats" (Head accessories?), "Tops," "Pants" (bottoms?), "Dresses" (full-body outfits?), "Socks," "Shoes," "Bags" (large accessories?), and "Glasses" (small accessories?). (Note: these are just my guesses based on the menu icons.) The trailer shows the player selecting the "Tops" menu, then browsing through different colors of a "Mini-length Parka." The trailer shows red, pink, green, and another unknown color for the parka. Different clothing styles may result in different visual effects when exiting the customization menu: a "sporty" female trainer is surrounded by brightly-colored lines, while a more "feminine" female trainer is surrounded by pink flowers. Customized clothing shows up on the avatar while they're running around in the overworld.
*A Team Flare grunt states that Team Flare's objective is only its own members' happiness.
*When riding a Pokémon (in this case, Skiddo), the player can jump up ledges. We are surely in a new generation.
The trailer also showed some new scenery: a pier lined with small motor boats, a grassy path with a holographic (news?) screen and a pair of Twins (?), and a long, arched hallway with chandeliers opening up onto a courtyard.
Translation
It seems as if 宿主 yadonushi (parasitic host) is much more appropriate than 宿借り yadokari (hermit crab), given that Shellder is essentially a parasite on Yadon's head. And I quote the PokéDex:

When its head was bitten, toxins entered Slowpoke's head and unlocked an extraordinary power. (Silver)
Every time it yawns, Shellder injects more poison into it. The poison makes it more intelligent. (Crystal)
Slowking undertakes research every day in an effort to solve the mysteries of the world. However, this Pokémon apparently forgets everything it has learned if the Shellder on its head comes off. (Ru/Sa)

And for Slowbro:

The Shellder that latches onto the Slowbro's tail is said to feed on the host's leftover scraps (RB)
Naturally dull to begin with, it lost its ability to feel pain due to Shellder's seeping poison. (Silver)
An attached Shellder won't let go because of the tasty flavor that oozes out of its tail. (Crystal)

-Argy

>Why can't it be both? "King of the parastic hermit crabs"?

- Zeta Zeta

I don't see why it is a hermit crab. Yes, Shellder acts as a shell, but Slowking doesn't live inside it, and Shellder is living as opposed to being empty. -Argy

>Yes, but Yadon still refers to "hermit crab", and Shellder isn't even involved at that stage. It's relative, "Yadoran" ALSO refers to hermit crab. It refers to hermit crab because everything else in it's evolutionary path refers to hermit crabs, even if Slowking diverges a little, it certainly doesn't diverge more than Yadon - who has no shell at all!

- Zeta Zeta

You have the relationship reversed - Shelder is the parasite (寄生), and Slowking is the host (宿主). Interestingly, one of the other meanings of 宿主 is landlord. However, I am inclined to think that yado is a reference to hermit crabs more than anything else. Zhen Lin
Well, if you think about it, the chances of a shiny Shellder latching onto a shiny Slopoke in anyway is really unlikely (1 in roughly 4000). I think that because the chances are so small, its 1. The reason why its not depicted that way, and 2. not worth mentioning.--Blaziken=Tahu 22:25, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Hey, I did a major revision to the original entry for "Psychic (type)", but because of server problems on the day of launch, it never got entered correctly. It's saved to a Notepad file on my hard drive, and I can easily reproduce it. It mainly covered the history of the metagame in reference to the Psychic-type in particular. Such things were discussed as the lack on tangible weaknesses in the first generation, the introduction of dark & steel types, etc. It also includes all the attack/resistance information that originally existed, but was deleted at some point...

Is it fine to assume that this type of content, since it has a factual and historic relevance to the Psychics, is acceptable for the wiki entry? If so, I'll add it.
Evolution through Generations
I think a page discussing the evolution of the metagame through the generations would be more appropiate, with a mention and a link on the Psychic page (since they are so influential in RBY).
:...amazingly, I found what I'd typed before on the metagame evolution in regards to the Psychic-type. I guess I'm posting it here, for lack of a better idea (of a place). I haven't edited it since, so it's probably needing a lot of input before it's ready for posting for real. Tell me what you think. I'm not so great with the wiki itself, so...

:Psychic-type Pokemon were one of the most overused types in the Red/Blue/Yellow days. The reason for this was that, at the time, Psychic-type Pokemon were only weak to Bug-type attacks. There was also what many consider a programming error that rendered the supposed "supereffective" Ghost-type attacks ineffective. Additionally, there were no powerful Bug-type attacks to be found, and those Bug-type Pokemon with moderately powerful attacks often possessed a weakness to Psychic-Type attacks. As you might expect, with no tangible threat from any Bug-type Pokemon, Psychics had an unfair advantage.

:This continued until the "Special" stat of Red/GReen/Blue/Yellow was split in Gold/Silver/Crystal into both "Special Attack" and "Special Defense". The hallmark of the Psychic-type had always been to possess a high rating in "Special". However, while this also gave them heavy protection against Special attacks in the first generation, when Special was split in the second generation, most Psychic-type Pokemon either lost some attacking power or some defensive power. Also introduced to help level the playing field was the added weakness to Ghost-type attacks, a new Ghost-type Pokemon and a highly damaging Ghost-type attack, called "Shadow Ball". Additionally and perhaps most importantly, two entirely new Pokemon types were ultimately created to help ensure that Psychic types would no longer be superior to other types; they were the Dark-type Pokemon and the Steel-type Pokemon.

:In the current and third generation, Psychic-types, like most pokemon, have an equal share of the power. This is mainly due to the limitations placed on EVs.

:Another thing to note about the Psychic-type is that many legendary Pokemon possess this type. All throughout the history of Pokemon, there have always been many inherantly powerful Psychic-type Pokemon. To name a few: Mewtwo, Lugia, Celebi, Latios, Deoxys
Anime section
Would it be worth mentioning stuff from the anime, such as:

- Originally Psychic-type Pokémon could only be controlled by Psychics (an idea which seems to be ignored in later episodes)... this doesn't apply to Pokémon who are only part Psychic though (like Misty's Psyduck). The only exception to this was Giovanni and his Mewtwo, which isn't even really an exception since he never really controlled Mewtwo (just tricked him into cooperating)

- The Ghost-type weakness was introduced in the anime Dannyjenn 10:52, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
:Not really sure where the first idea came from (any specific episodes you could mention?). Also, Psyduck is not a Psychic type. As for your Ghost weakness point, this trivia point comes from Ghost (type)#Trivia:
* In Generation I, Ghost-type moves had no effect on Psychic-type Pokémon, though an abundance of evidence suggests that this may have been an error. Multiple sources mention that Ghost-type moves are super effective on Psychic-type Pokémon: official strategy guides published by Nintendo, two episodes of the anime (The Tower of Terror and Haunter versus Kadabra), and even the games themselves, where a Trainer in the Saffron Gym mentions that Psychic-type Pokémon "only fear Bugs and Ghosts" (though the reference to Ghost-type Pokémon was removed in Yellow). From Generation II onwards, Ghost-type moves are indeed super effective on Psychic-type Pokémon. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 10:59, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

::Okay, never mind then.
::I thought the first idea came from the episode when Ash first challenged the Saffron City Gym... I thought someone said something like "you need to have psychic powers to control a Psychic-type Pokémon"... but it's been a while since I've seen it so I could be mistaken. Maybe I just assumed that something like that happened since Sabrina had a psychic connection with her Abra / Kadabra. And I was mistaken about Psyduck being Psychic.
::Also, I thought that the Ghost weakness thing was fixed in Yellow (to make it more like the TV show). But yeah, the quote in the game did remove the "fear Ghosts" part, so I'm probably mistaken on that as well. Dannyjenn 20:46, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
:::I just re-watched the episode (EP022) and it indeed says that. The exact quote from the dub -- "You can't control a Psychic-type Pokémon without using telekinetic powers." However, it seems that he's referring to telepathic powers, not telekinetic powers like he says (as it makes no sense that being able to bend spoons and move things with your mind has any impact on controlling Pokémon). Or maybe what he's saying is that the Psychic-type Pokémon is the one using the telekinetic powers, but that's not what it sounds like. But anyway, this quote, and the fact that Sabrina has an obvious telepathic link to her Abra / Kadabra leads me to believe that you must be a psychic to control a Psychic-type Pokémon. Dannyjenn 20:05, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
::::I always found this intersting as well. Also, in the games, all of the Psychic users either have some type of psychic ability or have an extremely high I.Q. The anime seemed to do this with Sabrina's Abra and said this, but quickly discarded it, I assume so they could show all the Pokemon in the episodes. I suggest adding this in the Trivia section or something instead of adding a whole other section. ^-^ I mean, the player character in the games also has no psychic abilities, but they can use Psychic-type Pokemon without any difficulty at all. == I have some questions regarding one trivia. ==

[*]All of Psychic's weaknesses (Bug, Ghost and Dark) are based on typical fears. This is most likely because fears can manipulate the mind. Hence, the Ability Rattled.

Alright, let me ask something. If the types psychic is weak it is really based on typical fears, then why aren't psychic-types weak to fire or water? There are some people who fear fire or water. How about ice?

I'm sorry, but I'm just confused on what this trivia means. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 23:50, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
:You have a point, I don't know who added that but I don't think that's the reason why Psychic is weak to those types. If anything, that an assumption, so I'll remove it. ::Actually, wait a second. The trivia says typical(common) fears. Hydro/pyrophobia isn't common, and I've never heard of a fear of ice. If we included every phobia that exists, the Psychic type would be a joke. That trivia makes perfect sense to me. Pokegen master (talk) 03:49, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
:::Alright, maybe not many people fear the cold, but fire is not a typical fear? Let's imagine this, your house is on fire. What would most people do? They would call 911 and try to get out of the building so they won't burn to death. So doesn't that mean they fear fire?
:::Honestly, I think that's more common than being afraid of bugs. If I saw a fly I could easily just squash it. But I would try to stay away from fire since it can hurt a lot. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 00:37, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
::::A lot of people would freak out at the sight of something like a cicada or a spider.
