They are found in every [[Pokémon Center]], as well as in any main character's [[bedroom]], in all [[Secret Base]]s in the form of a laptop, and sometimes in other buildings as well. Their primary purpose is for storing [[Pokémon]] and [[item]]s.

=PC Functions=
Players can't use the PC as if it were a real one, but here are some features that's used on the PC:
==Bill's PC / Lanette's PC / Bebe's PC==
Every [[Pokémon trainer]] is allowed to access a [[Pokémon storage system]] set up by either [[Bill]] in [[Johto]] and [[Kanto]], [[Lanette]] in [[Hoenn]], or [[Bebe]] in [[Sinnoh]]. They can withdraw or deposit Pokémon in a series of boxes, allowing them to own more than the six permitted in their [[Party|team]]. When a Pokémon is [[Captured Pokémon|captured]] and the party is full, it is sent directly to the last box accessed on this part of the PC.

==Player's PC==
In [[Generation]]s [[Generation I|I]], [[Generation II|II]] and [[Generation III|III]], rather than having to access a community database, [[item]] storage is done on the player's own personal computer. The system is a bit simpler than that of Pokémon storage, and does not have multiple boxes to organize items. Also, unlike Pokémon storage, when an item is found but the [[bag]] is full, it will not automatically be sent to this part of the PC. Mail that is taken from a Pokémon will also be stored here from [[Generation II]] onward.

=Glitches=
In [[Generation I]], there was an invisible PC in a hotel in [[Celadon City]]. This fact is explained by the close resemblance between the hotel and a Pokémon Center. This was less a glitch, and more likely an oversight by the programmers, who may have forgotten to remove the code to activate the PC at that particular point, though the sprite of the PC itself is no longer there. This "glitch", like most of the others, was removed in [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen]]. In addition, when [[Missingno.]] is encountered, it will corrupt the [[Hall of Fame]] data.
Also, the [[Pokémon cloning|cloning glitches]] of [[Generation II]] and [[Generation III]] both need specific actions taken when using a PC in order for them to work.

A Heart Gauge is a meter that's used in the [[Nintendo Gamecube]] [[wp: Video game|games]], [[Pokémon Colosseum]] and [[Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness]]. The Heart Gauge shows how much darkness is drained out of the Shadow Pokémon. The more times you would use a Shadow Pokémon in battle, the lower the darkness would get on its Heart Gauge. Once when its darkness goes all the way down, it would be possible to heal the Shadow Pokémon by restoring back to its more friendlier, lighter side. After restoring its friendship, it would now be possible to trade the former Shadow Pokémon to any of the [[third generation]] [[Pokémon]] [[wp: RPG|RPG]] games.

In XD, there's a [[Lugia]] called "XD 001". Unlike all of the other Shadow Pokémon, you would have to have nine perfect tempos playing in order to restore Lugia's former self. That way, you can trade it, just like any other former Shadow Pokémon. Before restoring, '''you can't''' use Lugia to [[Pokémon Battle|battle]] in order to restore. '''You also can't''' use any scents (like [[Joy Scent]], [[Excite Scent]], or even [[Vivid Scent]]) in order to restore Lugia's friendship. There's only one Lugia in that game, and its also one of the only few places where you can get it in order to get it recorded on to the [[PokéDex]].

The GameShark products never have been licensed or endorsed by the manufacturers of the products that they work with. [[Pokémon Red and Blue Versions]] were the first [[Pokémon games]] to be released in the US, on September 30, 1998. Several beta elements of the game have been discovered by ROM hackers who have examined the game's code.

==Professor Oak wants to fight==
[[Professor Oak]] has a full team of Pokémon programmed into the game, although the {{pkmn|battle}} cannot occur during a normal game. The player must use a GameShark code to start the battle. Professor Oak has a level 66 Tauros, a level 67 Exeggutor, a level 68 Arcanine, a level 69 Blastoise, and a level 70 Gyarados. He has the same team in [[Pokémon Yellow Version]]. When he is defeated, he says: "That can't be!".

==The [[Bug Catcher]] wants to fight==
Before Red and Blue's [[wp: United States|U.S.]] release, screenshots were released of a rival battle with the text "The [[Blue (game)|Blue]] wants to fight". In the final version, the word "the" is dropped. While this text would work with a typical trainer such as "The [[Lass]]" and "The [[Hiker]]", it would cause problems with "The [[Brock]]" and "The [[Misty]]".

==Nickname?==
A beta [[item]] that allows the player to walk through walls in the game is accessible via a GameShark code. The item, which shows up in the [[bag]] as "<code>NICKNAME?</code>", is speculated to be a beta object testers used to quickly move forward through the game.

There is a truck that appears in the S.S. Anne's port which serves no evident purpose. A player must get [[HM01]] from the captain of the S.S. Anne and then black out in a battle, leaving the ship without it leaving. The player must then advance through the game until they obtain HM03, Surf, from the Safari Zone and return to Vermilion. Enter the dock, and surf to the right to see the truck on the bank. The truck may have originally served a purpose, or may just be a programming joke or signature inserted by one of the staff.

The concept art includes strange, early very hardly distinguished versions of various things, if at all. This seems to be various {{pkmn|battle}}s, the [[Kanto Safari Zone|Safari Zone]], [[Red (game)|Red]] riding on a {{p|Lapras}}, {{p|Blastoise}}, the [[Celadon City]] and the [[Silph Co.]] but only the first of them is similar enough to distinguish. Also, if looking closely the, the Pokémon in the battles doesn't resemble them in the original games.

==Synopsis==
[[Ash]], [[Ash's Pikachu|Pikachu]], [[Misty]] and [[Brock]] are watching [[Gary Oak]]'s Round 4 match in the Rock Field. Gary's {{p|Nidoking}} is pitted against Melissa's {{p|Golem}}. Nidoking responds with a {{m|Horn Attack}}, but Golem counters, then uses {{m|Seismic Toss}}. Nidoking is defeated and Gary is out of the competition. After suffering a frustrating defeat, Gary heads home. Ash becomes nervous to the fact he's going to lose his Round 4 match on the Grass Field, but Brock and Misty cheer him on.

Meanwhile, [[Jessie]], [[James]] and {{MTR}} have opened up a snack stand so they can make money, selling snacks and even fake Gym Badges which Meowth made from bottlecaps, but like always, their true intention is to steal the trainers' Pokémon.

At the Grass Field, Ash is getting ready for his next match with [[Jeanette Fisher]]. As always, Brock becomes lovestruck and starts to root for Jeanette. Misty admonishes Brock for that. Ash starts off with [[Ash's Bulbasaur|Bulbasaur]], and Jeanette uses {{p|Beedrill}}. Beedrill is about to hit Bulbasaur with {{m|Poison Sting}}, but Bulbasaur dodges it. Bulbasaur uses {{m|Razor Leaf}}, while Beedrill uses {{m|Twineedle}}. Bulbasaur dodges the attack. Misty is hoping Jeanette may not have more Pokémon like her Beedrill, and Brock is hoping Jeanette doesn't have a boyfriend. Misty tells him, "There's no way that boyfriend is going to be you, mister, if that girl beats Ash!". Ash has Bulbasaur use {{m|Leech Seed}}, draining away Beedrill's energy. Brock becomes depressed that Beedrill is losing, but Misty reminds him of who he should be rooting for. Ash tells Bulbasaur to use {{m|Tackle}}. Jeanette's Beedrill is toast and Bulbasaur wins!

Jeanette sends her next Pokémon, {{p|Scyther}}. Bulbasaur launches a {{m|Razor Leaf}} at it, but Scyther uses {{m|Double Team}} to evade. Scyther gets in a few hits before Ash gets the idea to use {{m|Vine Whip}} on all the targets, so Bulbasaur will eventually hit the real one. The plan works, and Scyther is knocked out!

Unwavering, Jeanette sends out her last Pokémon- {{p|Bellsprout}}! Ash laughs at first, saying she must be desperate to use something so obviously weak. Bulbasaur uses a Tackle attack, but Bellsprout bends away in a wobble-like manner with ease, picks up Bulbasaur, repeatedly slams him into the ground, and knocks Bulbasaur out!

Ash is shocked at this loss. Brock realizes that Jeanette's Bellsprout must be exceptionally trained, or else it would not be used in a League battle.

Ash sends out Pikachu to try and fight. Pikachu uses {{m|Thundershock}}, but Bellsprout's roots keep it ingrained and immune to Electrical damage. Bellsprout uses a powerful Vine Whip and Pikachu is knocked out!

Down to his last Pokémon, Ash pauses for a second and sends out... [[Ash's Muk|Muk]]! Misty & Brock are shocked that Ash called Muk from Oak's lab as a backup Pokémon. Muk is able to absorb Bellsprout's attacks with ease, then uses a {{m|Body Slam}} (essentially smothering Bellsprout) to finish it off.

Ash wins the battle, and has now cleared all four preliminary fields!

'''Pokémon, I Choose You!''' (Japanese: '''ポケモン! きみにきめた!''' ''Pokémon! I Choose You!''), was the very first episode of the [[Pokémon anime]] ever shown in Japan. In the US, the first episode shown was ''[[EP015|Battle Aboard the St. Anne]]''. It was first broadcast in Japan on April 1, 1997 and was first broadcast in the United States on September 8, 1998.

In this episode, [[Ash Ketchum]] starts his [[Pokémon]] journey off to a rough start when he receives his [[first Pokémon]], the reluctant [[Ash's Pikachu|Pikachu]].

= Synopsis =
The episode begins the same way as [[Pokémon Red and Blue|Pokémon Red]], down to the style of the images and the sound. A {{p|Nidorino}} and a {{p|Gengar}} are exchanging attacks in a {{pkmn|battle}}. After Nidorino dodges Gengar's attack, it leaps at it. At the same time, the [[Pokémon games|game]] starts coming to life, with the small frame enlarging to the entire screen, and the monochrome [[Pokémon]] fading into color.

The two are battling in a stadium at the [[Pokémon League]], watched by crowds of fans. Gengar dodges Nidorino's {{m|Fury Attack}}, and then jumps on its head to make an opening to put it to sleep with {{m|Hypnosis}}. As Nidorino falls [[status ailment#sleep|asleep]], its {{pkmn|Trainer}} recalls it into its [[Poké Ball]], and then throws out another to take its place. The Gengar jumps back as an {{p|Onix}} comes out. It tries to {{m|Slam}} into Gengar face-first, but misses and hits the battlefield instead. It pulls back up, unphased.

This battle is being watched on television by a boy from [[Pallet Town]] named [[Ash Ketchum]]. He is now ten years old, which means he can become a [[Pokémon Trainer]]. Tomorrow, he will receive a [[starter Pokémon]] from [[Professor Oak]] and start his Pokémon journey, the first step on the long quest of his dream of becoming a [[Pokémon master]].

His mother enters the room and reminds him that it's 11 o'clock at night, and he should be asleep. He complains that he's too excited to sleep. As a compromise, his mother changes his television's channel to [[Professor Oak's lecture]], and tells him to go to bed when the program is finished.

That night, he dreams about the starter Pokémon as he tries to decide which one he wants. First, he dreams of choosing and sending out {{p|Bulbasaur}}, and then {{p|Squirtle}}. The night turns to morning, and Ash, still in bed, dreams about if he chose {{p|Charmander}}. Suddenly, he bolts awake to find that he threw his ball-shaped alarm clock in his sleep, and it has smashed against the wall. Afraid that he might have overslept, Ash bolts out of his house in his pajamas and runs as fast as he can to [[Professor Oak's Laboratory]].

Outside the laboratory, a crowd of people has gathered, including a group of [[Gary's cheerleaders|cheerleaders]]. Ash pushes through and bumps into his [[rival]] and the grandson of the professor, [[Gary Oak]]. Gary taunts him for being late, telling Ash that he's already received his starter Pokémon from his grandfather. He boasts to the crowd that he will make Pallet Town famous by becoming a Pokémon master. Ash, however, is more interested in finding out what Gary starter chose. Gary tells him that it was the best one, and then leaves in a red sports car, followed by the crowd.

Before Ash can say anything about how upset he is by his rival, Professor Oak approaches him. Ash drops his anger and asks about getting a Pokémon. Professor Oak seems doubtful that he's ready, since he showed up in his pajamas, but Ash insists that he's ready.

Inside Oak's laboratory, three Poké Balls are set up on a storage device, with a place for a fourth in the center. Ash decides that he would like to start with Squirtle, but when he opens the Poké Ball, he finds that it's empty. Professor Oak tells him it was taken by a Trainer who wasn't late. After this, he decides he'd like Bulbasaur, but this Poké Ball is also empty. He settles for his last choice, Charmander, but the final Poké Ball is also empty. The three were all taken by Trainers who arrived on time, and it seems there is no Pokémon left for Ash.

Professor Oak mentions that he has another Pokémon, but there's a problem with it. Ash wants it anyway. The fourth spot in the middle opens to show a Poké Ball with a lightning bolt mark on it. He picks it up and hands it to Ash. The ball opens, and in a burst of lighting, {{p|Pikachu}} comes out of the ball. Ash loves the cute Pokémon, and picks it up and hugs it. Pikachu doesn't like this, and shocks him with an {{t|Electric}} attack. Oak hands him a [[Pokédex]] and six Poké Balls, but gets shocked as well when he touches Ash.

When Ash steps outside the laboratory, he finds a small crowd has gathered as well, including his mother, who is sad to see him leaving. She gives him his [[bag]] full of supplies, and starts explaining everything she packed for him. He gets embarrassed and pulls it away. She sees Pikachu, and wonders why it isn't in its Poké Ball. He tries to get it in, but it hits the ball back every time. Ash says that they are friends, even despite Pikachu's behavior. His mother calls it weird, and in anger, it shocks the entire crowd with its electricity.

Soon, Ash has set off, trying to get a handle on the rebellious Pokémon by wearing rubber gloves and dragging it with a clothesline leash. After getting tired of dragging it along, he tries to talk to it and find out what's wrong, only to find out that Pikachu can't say anything but its name. He tries to convince it to get back in its Poké Ball, and pulls out his new Pokédex for information on it. However, the Pokédex explains that not all Pokémon like to be kept in Poké Balls. Ash decides to earn Pikachu's trust by treating it nicely, and unties the clothesline and takes off his rubber gloves. Pikachu turns away.

Then, a {{p|Pidgey}} walks out near them, and Ash scans it with his Pokédex for more information. He's eager to catch it, but Pikachu doesn't want to help him and instead runs up a tree. Frustrated, Ash decides to try and catch the Pidgey without Pikachu's help. He throws a Poké Ball at it, but the Pidgey breaks out easily. The Pokédex explains that a Pokémon should be weakened before it can be caught. Pikachu laughs at Ash. He tries again, this time attempting to throw his pajama shirt on top of the Pidgey, but the bird blows him off with a {{m|Gust}} and then hits him with a {{m|Sand Attack}} before it flies away. Pikachu laughs at Ash more. Ash turns and sees that a {{p|Rattata}} is digging through his bag, and scares it away. He scans it with his Pokédex, which mentions that Rattata is a forest Pokémon. Just as Ash questions why it came out into the field, the Pokédex explains that it sometimes leaves its habitat to steal from ''stupid'' travelers. Pikachu laughs at Ash even more.

Ash turns and sees a group of Pidgey in the field, and throws a rock at them, which only scares them away. However, he sees another bird Pokémon in the field and throws another rock at it, hitting it in the back of its head. When it turns to look at him, however, he realizes that he didn't hit a Pidgey; he scans it with his Pokédex and learns that this is a {{p|Spearow}}, which is considerably less friendly than a Pidgey. The Spearow swoops several times to attack him, and then spots and targets Pikachu instead. The Pokédex explains that wild Pokémon are sometimes jealous of trained Pokémon. Just as the Spearow is about to knock Pikachu out of the tree, Pikachu shocks it with an Electric attack, knocking it out of the sky.

The Spearow, however, cries for help, and Ash and Pikachu start running away from a flock of angry Spearow. Pikachu runs ahead of Ash, and the Spearow fly after it, attacking it until it falls to the ground. The Spearow start swarming around it, but Ash grabs his injured Pikachu and runs straight to a waterfall. He jumps into the river below to escape the Spearow, and is dragged into a large pond, narrowly swimming out of the path of a {{p|Gyarados}}.

On the shore of this pond, a [[Misty|girl]] is [[fishing]], and is excited to find that she has a bite. However, instead of a {{t|Water}}-type Pokémon, she pulls out Ash and Pikachu. She doesn't care about Ash, but is very concerned about the injured Pokémon in his arms. She tells him that he needs to take it to the [[Pokémon Center]] in [[Viridian City]], and points out the way to go. However, he hears the distant cries of Spearow, and turns to see the flock in the sky, flying towards him. He steals the girl's [[bicycle|bike]], putting the Pikachu in its basket, and rides away promising that he'll bring it back someday.

He quickly starts riding to Viridian City, with storm clouds above him and the Spearow in close pursuit. It starts to rain. He rides the bike over a ledge, and it falls on its side, knocking Ash and Pikachu off. Ash finds himself looking at his injured Pikachu lying on the ground, with the Spearow approaching and the storm growing worse. Desperate to save his Pokémon, he leaves Pikachu's Poké Ball next to it, and then stands before the Spearow, telling him to attack them in order to give Pikachu time to get inside its ball where it will be safe. However, just as the Spearow are about to dive on Ash, Pikachu leaps up and over Ash's shoulder, jumping at the flock of Spearow. The lightning from the storm is drawn to Pikachu, and it uses a massive Electric attack to take out the entire flock, as well as the girl's bike.

Once the storm has cleared, Ash and Pikachu both rouse from where they were knocked back on the ground, exhausted but victorious. Ash looks up and sees a [[Ho-Oh (anime)|Pokémon]] flying through the sky, over the rainbow that had been left after the storm. His Pokédex cannot identify it.

He continues on, carrying his new friend Pikachu in his arms as he walks the rest of the way to Viridian City.

In this generation, Mystery Gift can be used to transfer {{p|Manaphy}} from [[Pokémon Ranger]] or receive items from [[Pokémon Battle Revolution]]. Players are able to receive gifts wirelessly or from a friend, and are able to connect to the [[wp:Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection|Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection]] to receive gifts; however, the latter two have not yet been utilized. The Mystery Gift feature will only allow a specific gift to be received once. As a result, a player can only get one of each item from Pokémon Battle Revolution, regardless of whether the item is later repurchased or not.

Metal Bird is a long time fan (and often a harsh and sometimes hateful [[wp: critic]]) of [[Pokémon]].

== Biography ==
Born on [[wp: September 1]], [[wp: 1989]] in the [[wp: American]] town of [[wp: Peoria, Illinois]]. His real name is Jacob Seed. Metal Bird became a fan of Pokémon since it's launch in the [[wp: United States]] in [[wp: 1999]]. What got him interested in Pokémon was the [[wp: animals]], (expecialy the [[wp: birds]]). He officaly became a fan in [[wp: March]] of 1999 while going to a family reunion. Metal Bird's favorite Pokémon are: [[Pikachu]], [[Skarmory]], [[Bellossom]], [[Lugia]], and [[Groudon]].

Metal Bird didn't started to play the games until [[wp: July]] of [[wp: 2003]]. His first Pokémon game was [[Pokémon Yellow]] (which was already released four years eariler). He was also a fan of the [[Pokémon Anime]] until when [[Pokémon Advanced]] deibuted in [[wp: March]] 2003.

== Metal Bird's complaints ==
Ever since the release of [[Pokémon Ruby]] & [[Pokémon Sapphire]], and the American [[wp: television]] deibut of Pokémon Advanced in March 2003, he claims that [[Nintendo]] had "ruined tradition" because of the lack of good ideas. He stopped buying the Pokémon trading cards in [[wp: March]] [[wp: 2006]], and stopped watching the TV series in [[wp: July]] [[wp: 2007]]. Metal Bird even claims that [[Super Smash Brothers Brawl]] would be his last Pokémon game.

Metal Bird also claims that Pokémon had been losing it's popularity since the start of the [[third generation]] days back in 2003.

== Anger about the modern day era==
Metal Bird first joined [[Serebii.net]]'s online [[wp: internet forms]] website, Serebiiforms.net in [[wp: December]] [[wp: 2006]]. One month after when he joined, he was really angry about the TV series and reportly flamed on the message boards. He was banned until [[wp: April]] 2007.

== Triba ==
Metal Bird happens to have a special limited edition [[Dialga]], and [[Palkia]] [[Nintendo DS Lite]].

The reason why he nicknamed his [[wp: username]] "Metal Bird" is because he likes birds and one of his all-time favorite Pokémon is Skarmory. His High School mascot also happens to be a armored [[wp: knight]], which reminds him of Skarmory. Also, he even has a Skarmory that's nicknamed "Metal Bird."

Metal Bird re-watched ''Pokémon 3: The Movie'' and the piolet episode of Pokémon on [[wp: April 1]], 2007 (the same day that marked the ten-year annerversery of the launch of the TV series.

Metal Bird's [[wp: YouTube]] channel is "gvk9r" (at the time when he first joined YouTube, he didn't know how to come up with a username at the time).

Metal Bird is also a fan of the formmer [[Cartoon Network]] series [[wp: Dexter's Laboratory]].
