Meem0: /* Generation V - how to obtain Sacred Ash */

The Sacred Ash (Japanese: せいなるはい Sacred Ash) is a healing item found in most games since Generation II. Unlike other items in general, which work on only one Pokémon, the Sacred Ash, when used, is used on multiple Pokémon at a time. It is very rare, and can only be used once, making it a very popular item for cloning glitches or obtaining it by other illegitimate methods.

Uses
Generation II:
The Sacred Ash HP and restores all Pokémon in the party, as long as one Pokémon has fainted.

Generation III onwards:
The Sacred Ash heals and restores only Pokémon who have fainted.

Locations
The Sacred Ash is typically found only once per game, and will often have some relation to Ho-Oh.
Generation II
In Gold, the wild Ho-Oh that appears at the Tin Tower will be holding a Sacred Ash, as will any other Ho-Oh encountered in the wild through hacking.

Generation III
In FireRed, the Sacred Ash is found on Navel Rock, if the player uses the Itemfinder after capturing or defeating Ho-Oh.

Sacred Ashes can be found on the floor in Poké Balls in the Battle Frontier (Generation III); however, they cannot be kept.

By defeating Battle CD, the player can earn another Sacred Ash as a prize in .

Generation IV
In Diamond, players can obtain it by having a Pokémon hold it in Generation III and sending it through Pal Park. Wild Ho-Oh, which can only be encountered with a cheating device, will always be holding this item.

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, there are up to two Sacred Ashes in the game. The first is obtained by talking to the Professor's aide in the right gate on Route 2, while the second is held by the Ho-Oh at the top of the Bell Tower, just as it was in Generation II.

Generation V
Currently, the only way to obtain Sacred Ash in Generation V is by transferring it from Pokémon Dream Radar to Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.

Trivia
*Since the Sacred Ash cannot be used in battle (unlike the Revive), its net effect can be achieved by applying 5 Revives followed by 5 Potions/Potions, placing its value at pdollar20000/22500, respectively, in terms of utility alone.
**Use of Revival Herbs can also achieve this effect with only pdollar14000. However, this method can reduce friendship.

Steven Stone (Japanese: ツワブキ・ダイゴ Daigo Tsuwabuki) is the Pokémon League Champion in Ruby and Sapphire, and a powerful wandering Trainer in Emerald, having relegated his title to Wallace. He is a Master of the Steel type, with a Metagross being the cornerstone of his team.

Steven is the son of the president of the Devon Corporation, and he and his father both collect rare stones. Steven makes his home on Mossdeep, and when the Elite Four are beaten in Ruby, he will have left a Beldum and a note for the player.

In the games
His strategy in battle is to use Steel Pokémon to find the opponent's weakness.

Steven is the Champion of the Hoenn region in . In Emerald, Wallace replaces him in this role.

In Emerald, Steven is a powerful wandering Trainer who gave up competing seriously to spend more time looking for rare rocks and stones. He states he was the Pokémon Champion of Hoenn at some point, but now he spends his life traveling through the region. He claims to be willing to Waterfall to find rare stones. With this hint, he can be found and challenged in the upper area of Meteor Falls after defeating the Elite Four.

In , after the Hoenn Pokémon League is defeated, he offers a Beldum at his house in Mossdeep City.

In Platinum, a man whose description is similar to Steven's was the previous owner of the villa in the Resort Area.

He also appears in HeartGold and SoulSilver. The player will first meet him after they have left the Pokémon Fan Club in Vermilion City after collecting the Copycat's Clefairy Doll, in which he will appear and inform the player that there's reports of either a LatiosSS or LatiasHG roaming Kanto. The next time the player will meet him after beating Red on Mt. Silver, where he will appear in the Silph Co. building in Saffron City and let the player choose one of the Hoenn starter Pokémon. He can later be found in the Pewter Museum of Science, examining a shelf. After visiting and speaking to him there, he will return to the Silph Co. building offering to trade a Beldum for a Forretress.

If the player has the Enigma Stone and enters the Pewter Museum of Science, he will be talking to a researcher. When he is spoken to, he will notice the Enigma Stone and have the researcher examine it. The researcher will extract the Soul Dew from the stone and give it to the player. Steven will tell the player that Soul Dew is said to be the solidified spirits of Latias and Latios, and that it can bring out their true potential. Upon walking outside, LatiasSS or LatiosHG will be waiting outside to battle, drawn by the Soul Dew.

*Before battle
:"Welcome, <player>. I was looking forward to seeing you here one day. You... What did you see on your journey with Pokémon? What did you feel, meeting so many other Trainers like you? What has awoken in you? I want you to hit me with it all! Now, bring it!"

*When defeated
:"I, the Champion, fall in defeat... Kudos to you, <player>! You are a truly noble Pokémon Trainer!"

*After being defeated
:"Congratulations! The feelings you have for your Pokémon... And the Pokémon that responded to those feelings with all their might... They came together as one, and created an even greater power. And thus, you were able to grasp victory today! You are rightfully the Hoenn region's new..."

:"<Player>... No, the new Champion! Come with me." [To Rival] "I'm sorry, but... From here on, only those Trainers who have become Champions may enter. You'll have to wait outside with the Professor."

:"This room... This is where we keep records of Pokémon that prevailed through harsh battles. It is here that the League Champions are honored. Come on, let's record your name as a Trainer who triumphed over the Pokémon League, and the names of the partners who battled with you."
We battled alongside each other at the Sootopolis Space Center<!--error made in game text-->. You should have a very good idea about how good I am. Okay, <player>, if you're going to mount a serious challenge, expect the worst!"

HeartGold and SoulSilver
*After exiting the Pokémon Fan Club
:"Hi! My name is Steven. The Champion from the Hoenn region. Have we met...before? That's not possible. All the Trainers I have battled seem to have the same look, anyway. Especially Brendan May who gave me tough battles... By the way, have you heard of a Pokémon called LatiasHG/LatiosSS? I am investigating why LatiasHG/LatiosSS, a Pokémon from Hoenn, decided to leave Hoenn to come here. LatiasHG/LatiosSS is a Pokémon that has a lot to do with Soul Dew, a gemlike Orb. Considering the fact that LatiasHG/LatiosSS is now in Kanto, it is possible to assume that this has to do with Soul Dew. LatiasHG/LatiosSS is a Pokémon that travels a great distance. It'd be difficult to find without any machine to track it with. But any Trainer will be drawn to it, won't they? I must go. May our journeys cross again."

*After defeating Red
:"Hello... You're breaking up... I think it depends on how my dad feels... I see... I'll be on my way. See you soon." (Through phone)

:"You are... I remember your eyes. When I see a Trainer whose eyes twinkle, I always remember."

:"You have a Pokédex! So you are also in search of Pokémon. Let me see... I think I can help you with that. Let's say that you have stones in front of you. Which color would you pick?"

:"You chose correctly! I will give you Treecko/Torchic/Mudkip!"

:"You did a great job naming it!"

:"Take good care of it. Your caring for it will make me very happy."
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Steven met Ruby while looking through the Granite Cave. During a battle with wild Mawile, Ruby's Skitty bumped into one of Steven's Moon Stones, causing it to evolve.

Steven was well-aware of the danger Team Magma and Team Aqua presented, and extended an invitation to Ruby to join the fight against them. Steven invited him to help, but Ruby declined because he didn't like battling. The armlets on Steven's arms are devices he can chip away stone with, to grab and retrieve rocks he sees that are out of reach.

Later in the series, Steven confessed that he and his father, the owner of the Devon Corporation, knew about the schemes of Team Magma and Team Aqua quite long ago. Mr. Stone built the Submarine Explorer 1 so that Steven can seal the Seafloor Cavern and no one would be able to wake Kyogre and Groudon. The backup plan in case it fails would be to unseal Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.

Steven later assembles the rest of the Hoenn Elite Four in order to fight against Kyogre and Groudon. With the help of Sapphire's Wailord and Relicanth, Steven and the Elite Four unsealed the Regis. Steven took control of Registeel and gave the other two Regis to the other members of the Elite Four.

Knowing he would die in Kyogre and Groudon's battle, Steven stepped down from the position of Champion, and gave it back to Wallace, who was actually the true Champion while Steven had only been a runner-up. After Kyogre and Groudon returned to their respective domains, Steven apparently died from the strain of controlling the Regis, but was later revived under mysterious circumstances when Ruby released his Celebi.

Steven later traveled to Sinnoh to collect the rare stones found in the region. He had purchased a Villa but sold it to Platinum and returned to Hoenn at the start of the Platinum.

Steven uses his Metagross to fly around Hoenn. Its magnetism allows him to float atop it.
In the TCG
In the TCG, Steven appears on the card EX Hidden Legends in the EX Hidden Legends and EX Power Keepers expansions.

Trivia
* In Emerald, when the player speaks to him in Meteor Falls before their battle, he makes an error. He talks of their encounter in the Sootopolis City Space Center. The Space Center is actually in Mossdeep City, and this dialog may result from the encounter the player has with him in Sootopolis in Ruby and Sapphire.
* Also, the battle with Steven against Maxie and Tabitha is the only occasion in the Generation III games where the player teams up with an ally for a double battle. Several others are available in the Battle Frontier and multiple times in Generation IV.
** During this tag battle, by hacking the game, it is possible to level up Steven's Pokémon (this would not happen normally, as not enough experience is given to do so).
<!--* In the anime, Steven is the Champion with the least amount of screen time (if Gary is counted in the place of his counterpart Blue), appearing in only one episode, while everyone else has appeared more than once. He is also the only Champion not to play a significant role in the anime.-->
* In Platinum, the person who gives the player their villa in the Resort Area mentions that the guy who gave him the villa came to Sinnoh to collect rare stones. After collecting the stones, he left the region with all the items in the villa. This mysterious previous owner may in fact be Steven, who himself sold the villa to Platinum in Pokémon Adventures and subsequently appeared in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
*In the anime, Steven is portrayed as having blue-green eyes; however, in Pokémon Adventures he is portrayed as having yellow eyes.
*Steven's role in Emerald is similar to Red's role in Generation II and HeartGold and SoulSilver, as they are both former champions who can be battled after defeating the Elite Four. The only difference is that Steven can't be re-battled, while Red can be.
*Steven shares his French name (Pierre) with Brock, the Gym Leader of Pewter City. In the French dub of the anime, he keeps his English name of Steven Stone so as to not be confused with Brock, who was traveling with Ash when the group met Steven.
* In Pokémon Emerald, Steven's Trainer ID number is 61226, but in HeartGold and SoulSilver, Steven's is 23478.
