Forretress (Japanese: フォレトス Foretos) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II.

It evolves from Pineco starting at level 31.

Biology
Forretress is a large, spherical insect Pokémon with no visible limbs. The upper and lower halves of its body are capped by bumpy steel plates, giving it a Sturdy against opponents. The outer plates have zigzagging ridges that open along its back and front, revealing its smooth, red inner shell. The inner shell is punctuated by four cylindrical spikes, each tapering to an open point. Between the spikes, the inner shell opens along a straight line to reveal Forretress's eyes, which are round with large pupils. Whatever else lies inside its shell is unknown.

Forretress can defend itself from enemies by shooting out pieces of its outer shell, as a conditioned reflex rather than a conscious effort. It opens its shell to capture prey, but this happens so quickly that its interior body cannot be seen. It lives in List of Pokémon by habitat, attaching itself immovably to tree trunks. As shown in Scarlet and Violet, Forretress is capable of levitation.

Evolution
Forretress evolves from Pineco.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)
* Forretress is the first original Steel Pokémon in the National Pokédex, as Magnemite and Magneton were not Steel-types in Generation I.
* Forretress's Crystal still sprite is different from that of , making it one of few Pokémon to have three distinctly different sprites in Generation II.
* In Ranger: Guardian Signs, its Poké Assist is shown to be Steel in the capture screen, but turns out to be Normal after the capture.
*Forretress could always learn Swift as an Egg Move, but oddly could not learn it via TM or Move Tutor until Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Origin
Forretress may be based on a bagworm, possibly one inhabiting a discarded shell of a Aesculus or a walnut, though it resultingly resembles bivalves such as giant clams, as they share a two-half shell structure. Before Scarlet and Violet depicted it levitating, Forretress's primary means of locomotion was hopping, which is similar to the Mexican jumping bean, a nut pod which appears to jump because it contains a writhing bug larva. Following Pineco's weaponry theme, Forretress seems be based on gun turrets, bombs, cannons and cannonballs, and fortresses. The tube-shaped cannons around it resemble the siphons in siphon (insect anatomy) and siphon (mollusc).

Name origin
Forretress and Foretos may be a combination of forest, fortress, and possibly ferro (Portuguese for "iron") and turret.
Eelektross (Japanese: シビルドン Shibirudon) is an Electric Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Eelektrik when exposed to a Thunder Stone. It is the final form of Tynamo.

Eelektross can Mega Evolve into Mega Eelektross using the Eelektrossite. Mega Eelektross was introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Biology
Eelektross is an eel-like Pokémon that resembles a lamprey, having a prominent red, jawless sucker for a mouth with four equidistant fangs. Its body is mostly dark blue, with only its underside and fins being beige. From its head extends a long, tentacle-like limb with a sail-like fin, which tapers into an oval-shaped point. A similar sail-like fin is also present on the upper portion of its tail, and it has a pair of smaller fins on its underside. Its eyes are red with black pupils, surrounded by yellow markings that resemble a large sclera. Its arms are long and rounded, ending with three claws surrounding a yellow and red target-like pattern on its "palms". Eelektross has a pair of yellow spots on its torso and on each of its arms, which are its electricity-generating organs.

Eelektross lives in the ocean, but crawls ashore in order to hunt. It latches onto prey with its sucker mouth and shocks them with its fangs before returning to the water, dragging its victim with it. Despite lacking proper legs, it is able to walk on land with the fins on its underside.

Forms
Eelektross can Mega Evolve into Mega Eelektross.

As a result of Mega Evolution, the electricity-generating organs on Mega Eelektross's torso and arms have become stronger and able of secreting electrified mucus. This mucus now fully coats its rear end and arms, extending their length and changing their color to a milky white. Particularly, the end of Mega Eelektross's arms have changed in shape, now morphologically resembling gelatinous Eelektrik; these have been referred to by scholars as "false Eelektrik" (Japanese: 偽シビビール false Shibibeel), and comprise "Eeleftrik" (Japanese: サビビール Sabibeel) on the left arm and "Eerightrik" (Japanese: ウビビール Ubibeel) on the right arm. While mostly white, each of the false Eelektrik have a red eye-like spot surrounded by yellow markings in a similar disposition to those in the main body and a thick, circular red lip surrounding a bright yellow mouth. The false Eelektrik's mouthparts constantly open and close, alternating between a plus or minus symbol. Mega Eelektross has a more intricate yellow pattern around its eyes, even more yellow spots dotting its body, and yellow ridges on its fins. Its eyes also have a white semilunar fold and a black contour under them.

Mega Eelektross generates ten times the electricity it did before Mega Evolving and directs most of it to the false Eelektrik, from where it can discharge it to stun even massive Pokémon such as Wailord. The false Eelektrik also grant it better stability while swimming, enabling it to move almost twice as fast than a regular Eelektross. Once Mega Evolution wears off, the mucus on Mega Eelektross's body melts away, but can still be preserved through freezing. Some people use the preserved mucus for beauty regimens or strength training, although the extent of its benefits remains unknown.
Trivia
* Eelektross and its pre-evolved forms were designed by Yusuke Ohmura.
* Eelektross and its pre-evolved forms are the only Pokémon with no type weaknesses under normal battle conditions<!--meaning moves/ability that nullify levitate or terastalized Pokémon with Levitate do not count-->, as of current type mechanics (including the Fairy type).
* Eelektross's White, Black 2, White 2, X and Omega Ruby Pokédex entries mention that Eelektross can use its fangs to shock its prey with electricity. Despite this, Eelektross did not learn Thunder Fang until Generation IX.
* Along with Oricorio, Eelektross and its pre-evolved forms are the only Pokémon included in all three of Scarlet and Violet's Pokédexes.
** Eelektross and its pre-evolved forms are also the only Pokémon included in all four of Generation IX's Pokédexes.
* Eelektross and Breloom are the only Pokémon not compatible with Sword and Shield that are capable of Dynamaxing, being able to do so in Masters EX.

Origin
Eelektross and its pre-evolved forms are based on eels, perhaps specifically the electric eel (which is actually a type of knifefish, despite its name), with their blue and yellow color scheme resembling the ribbon eel. They may also be based on leeches.

Eelektross and its evolutionary relatives also bear a strong resemblance to lampreys, known as 八目鰻 yatsume unagi (literally "eight-eyed eel") in Japanese. Eelektross's four-toothed mouth may be based off of the oral disc of a lamprey, and the spots on its sides may be an allusion to a lamprey's gill slits.

Its Electric typing may be an allusion to bioelectrogenesis. Additionally, its manner of moving in the air with an open mouth may be inspired by windsocks, perhaps specifically Koinobori, a type of fish-shaped windsock flown to celebrate Children's Day in Japan.

Mega Eelektross and the false Eelektrik it produces out of mucus may take inspiration from the hagfish (also known as slime eels), close relatives of lampreys known to produce copious amounts of viscous white mucus when agitated for self-defense. The alternating formations of fangs on its Eelektrik decoys, a plus and minus, may represent a state of flowing electrical charges between positive and negative.

Name origin
Eelektross may be a combination of eel, electric, and possibly boss or gross.

Shibirudon may be a combination of 痺れ shibire (numbness) or 痺鰻 shibire-unagi (electric eel) and don (Spanish for lord) or -don (common suffix in dinosaur names derived from the Ancient Greek word for tooth).
