The '''Mauville Gym''' (Japanese: '''キンセツジム''' ''Kinsetsu Gym'') is the official [[gym]] of [[Mauville City]]. It is based on {{type2|Electric}} [[Pokémon]]. The [[Gym Leader]] is [[Wattson]]. {{pkmn|Trainer}}s who defeat him receive the {{Badge|Dynamo}}.

==In the anime==
The Mauville Gym has appeared in two episodes of the {{pkmn|anime}}.

It first appeared in ''[[AG040|Watt's with Wattson?]]''. {{Ash}} and {{Ashfr|his friends}} reached the gym, where the young {{g|Trainer}} challenged Wattson for a gym battle. However, they were lost, as there were many traps, like falling into a whirlpool. After going through the traps, Ash challenged Wattson and won flawlessly, stunning the leader and making him question his abilities. He finally realized that {{AP|Pikachu}} had been supercharged by one of Wattson's {{p|Raikou}} robots. After realizing what happened, Wattson told Ash to keep the badge and not to worry about challenging him again.

But when Ash and the others returned to Mauville in ''[[AG059|Manectric Charge]]'', Ash decided to challenge Wattson again, this time with his newly-captured {{AP|Torkoal}}. This time, Wattson defeated the {{type2|Fire}} with his {{TP|Wattson|Manectric}}.

In addition to Wattson, the gym assistant [[Watt]] also makes his home at the gym. He appeared to be interested in {{an|May}}, and gave her advice on the {{g|contest}} in [[Verdanturf Town]].

==In the games==
The gym is filled with gadgets and traps that Wattson designed. Electrical barriers toggle on and off through the use of switches.

When defeated, Wattson will give the player the {{badge|Dynamo}} as well as [[TM34]] ({{m|Shock Wave}}) as a reward.

The '''Dewford Gym''' (Japanese: '''ムロジム''' ''Muro Gym'') is the official [[gym]] of [[Dewford Town]]. It is based on {{type2|Fighting}} [[Pokémon]]. It is one of the eight official gyms that form part of the [[Hoenn League]]. The [[Gym Leader]] is [[Brawly]]. {{pkmn|Trainer}}s who defeat him receive the {{Badge|Knuckle}}.

==In the anime==
Dewford Gym first appeared in ''[[AG020|Brave the Wave]]''. Brock, May and Max are woken up by Ash so that he can battle Brawly. However when they reach the gym they find Brawly at surfing practice. He tells them he will battle Ash later.

When Brawly finally does begin the battle, Ash is thoroughly annoyed. The battle is a two Pokémon each, no time limit rule battle. Ash sends out {{AP|Taillow|Swellow}} which is defeated by Brawly's {{p|Machop}}. {{AP|Treecko|Sceptile}} then defeats the Machop, before in turn being beaten by Brawly's {{p|Makuhita}} which evolves into {{TP|Brawly|Hariyama}} during the battle. Ash is disheartened by this defeat, but Brawly encourages him to go on.

==In the games==
The Dewford Gym is in the [[Generation III]] {{pkmn|games}} {{game2|Ruby|Sapphire|Emerald}}. It is the second one to be reached during the game. The Gym is a pitch-black maze. As trainers are defeated, the Gym lights up.

When defeated, Brawly will give the player the {{badge|Knuckle}} as well as [[TM08]] ({{m|Bulk Up}}) as a reward.
