It is comparable to {{p|Celebi}} and {{p|Jirachi}}, but more so to {{p|Mew}}, both for its place in the regional Pokédex list, identical base stats and its inability to be caught during normal gameplay. Unlike them, however, Manaphy does not fall under the {{t|Psychic}}-type group; it also has the unprecedented ability to breed, though the offspring is a {{p|Phione}}. Interestingly, Manaphy is joined by {{p|Shaymin}} this generation, which is not a Psychic-type Pokémon, either. Manaphy is the last Pokémon in the [[List of Pokémon by Sinnoh Dex number|Sinnoh Pokédex]], but not the [[Generation IV]] National Dex.

Manaphy is a small, blue, aquatic Pokémon. It has stubby feet and club-like arms that are longer than its body. Manaphy has a red gem on its chest. Manaphy has a round head with a pair of long blue antennae. Eighty percent of Manaphy's body is made of water and is highly susceptible to its environment. One of these reactions is that when Manaphy reproduces in an ocean that's warmer than those that they are native to, the child will be a {{P|Phione}} as opposed to another Manaphy.

Due to Manaphy's high water content in its body, it can heal itself whenever its raining. Manaphy can control water and focus them into attacks such as {{M|Water Pulse}} and {{M|BubbleBeam}}. Manaphy's signature attack is {{M|Heart Swap}}.

Although Manaphy is a happy ice Pokemon, it can be easily upsetted. Example: When it is not with its owner (Manaphy thinks its his "parent") will do whatever to go back (cry, or Heart Swap, seen in Pokemon Ranger and Manaphy in the Temple of the Sea).

==Habitat==
Manaphy appears to be native to the cold oceans of the [[Fiore]] region, but cannot hatch there, instead only being able to be hatched in the [[Sinnoh]] region. Strangely, all eggs Manaphy produces in Sinnoh hatch into {{p|Phione}}.

==Diet==
As soon as Manaphy hatches, it usually tries to go to the Temple of the Sea, and eat rather small Pokemon, but will not be eaten by Water Pokemon because it is the Prince of the Sea (Except Land).
