'''Trainer Customization''' is a feature in [[Pokémon X and Y]] that allows the [[Player character|player]] to customize their appearance. Players can choose from three skin tones at the beginning of the game, and may further change their hair color, hairstyle, clothing, and accessories in Salons and Boutiques throughout [[Kalos]]. Customized trainers will appear in the overworld, on the [[Player Search System]], and in the [[Pokémon Global Link]].

==Features==
Players may choose from three preset appearances during the game introduction: dark skin, black hair, and brown eyes; fair skin, sandy-blonde hair, and gray eyes; or pale skin, blond hair, and blue eyes. Trainers will start the game with the default outfits worn by the [[Player character|protagonists]] in their [[Calem (game)|official]] [[Serena (game)|artwork]].

The player may customize their appearance at a Boutique and Salon. Further customization options are also available at the PR Video Studio in Lumiose City.

===Salons===
Upon entering a salon and speaking to the receptionist, the player may choose a new hair color by selecting the "Color" option, or change their hairstyle entirely by selecting the "Styling" option. The player may change both their hair color and style at the same time. Additional hairstyles are unlocked after attaining more "style" in and around [[Lumiose City]].

Hairstyle options for either gender include short and medium. Hairstyles for males include very short and medium-perm. Hairstyles for females include long, bob, ponytail, and pigtails; female hairstyles also include bang options. Hair colors available include blonde, sandy-blonde, ginger, brown, and black.

===Boutiques===
Each boutique in Kalos has a unique selection of [[clothing]] and accessories based on the "essence" of its surrounding city. Players may browse through the boutique's selection before entering a fitting room and activating the Trainer Customization screen. The Trainer Customization screen has separate menus for hats, tops, bottoms, full outfits, legwear, bags, and accessories, all of which can be further customized with badges and decorations. Different fanfare effects will appear once the player has finished customizing their appearance.

Boutiques can be found in [[Santalune City]], [[Lumiose City]], [[Cyllage City]], [[Laverre City]], [[Anistar City]], and [[Snowbelle City]].

===PR Video Studio===
At the PR Video Studio, an NPC will give the player a {{DL|List of key items in Generation VI|Lens Case}}, unlocking the choice to change eye color within the Trainer Customization Screen. Further customization options, such as facial hair for male Trainers, can be accessed via the makeup artist also located in the studio in a similar manner to the hairstylist.

Serena is a young girl who lives in [[Vaniville Town]] when the protagonist moves into town. Serena is the main rival of the character, choosing the starter Pokémon which is [[Damage modification|super effective]] to the {{player}}'s. She is also the character who teaches the player and [[Shauna]] how to [[Caught Pokémon|catch]] a Pokémon, catching a {{p|Bunnelby}} with the use of her {{p|Fletchling}}. Soon after, she can be seen in [[Santalune Forest]] with the other friends.

Serena is the child of two prominent Pokémon battlers, and is seen as one of the two best battlers of the group of friends, alongside the protagonist.

At [[Glittering Cave]], Serena helps the player defeat [[Team Flare]] to save the fossil assistant, and is given the fossil not chosen afterward. She then battles with the player against [[Tierno]] and [[Trevor]] at {{rt|7|Kalos}}. At the [[Tower of Mastery]] in [[Shalour City]], Serena battles the player for the chance to get the [[Key Stone|Mega Ring]].

The next time Serena battles the player is in front of the [[Coumarine Gym]].

When the group of friends meets up and decides to go to the haunted area in {{rt|14|Kalos}}, Serena is the only one of the friends to not go to the house, claiming that she has to train. She then helps the player defeat Team Flare at the [[Poké Ball Factory]].

The next time Serena battles the player is in front of the [[Anistar Gym]]. After the player defeats the gym, she will ask for a rematch, but cancels her challenge after [[Lysandre]] announces his plan of eradicating all life forms not a part of Team Flare. She then helps the player defeat Team Flare get to the legendary Pokémon and defeat Team Flare for good.

As the player traverses {{kal|Victory Road}}, Serena appears by a derelict altar and demands one last battle before their final challenge.

After the player defeats the {{pkmn|Champion}}, Serena can be battled in [[Kiloude City]], where, when defeated, she will give the player an {{DL|Mega Stone|Absolite}} and tell the player to meet [[Professor Sycamore]] in [[Anistar City]].

After he stole her bike and proceeded to accidentally destroy it in ''[[EP001|Pokémon - I Choose You!]]'', Misty followed him around the [[Kanto]] region, [[Orange Archipelago]], and [[Johto]] region, using the time she spent with him to further her goal of being the greatest Water Pokémon Trainer.

At the end of the [[original series]], Misty's bike was returned and repaired by the [[Nurse Joy]] of [[Viridian City]], and as [[the Sensational Sisters|her sisters]] were leaving on a world tour, Misty stayed at the Cerulean Gym as its leader in order to keep it open.

Despite this drawback, she still visits Ash from time to time, meeting up with him during the Mirage Kingdom and Battle Frontier arcs of the {{series|Advanced Generation}}.

She debuts in the {{chap|Red, Green & Blue}} in ''[[PS006|Gyarados Splashes In!]]'' when {{adv|Red}} saves her from her enraged Gyarados, which has been experimented on by [[Team Rocket]]. After they recapture the Pokémon, Red and Misty join forces to defeat Team Rocket and find the {{evostone|Moon Stone}} at [[Mt. Moon]]. During the battle, Misty is knocked out by a {{tc|Team Rocket Grunt}}'s {{p|Rhydon}}.

As is shown in ''[[PS008|Suddenly Starmie]]'', she lives in a large mansion and has a horde of maids that look after her. Here she defeats Red in the [[Cerulean Gym]] and trains with him a couple of days to make them both stronger. At the end of this round she gives Red the {{Badge|Cascade}}.

Later, Red wants to teach his Pokémon {{m|Surf}}, but the [[HM]] he tries to acquire is destroyed in a battle with a wild {{p|Dragonite}}. Misty saves Red from drowning; he at first, mistakes her for a mermaid. As Red's one hope of teaching his Pokémon Surf has been utterly demolished, Misty [[trade]]s Red her Gyarados for his Krabby. They have each other's Pokémon in their respective [[party|parties]] to this day.

She is then seen in the {{chap|Yellow}} talking with Professor Oak about Red's disappearance and worries about him, especially after hearing that Oak gave Red's Pokédex and [[Pika]] to {{adv|Yellow}}, who she considered a random stranger. She was then seen teaming up with the other 'good' Gym Leaders of Kanto to thwart {{tc|Super Nerd}} Miles, then possessed by Agatha's Gastly and attempting to retrieve Pika. After the event, she meets Yellow for the first time and gives her an {{p|Omanyte}}. She was also seen being stalled by Agatha, who forced Cerulean under attack by a group of Gastly and Haunter. They finally retrieve what they were really after all along, her Gym Badge. Misty had her Starmie go to [[Cerise Island]] and give the message to the others.

Unlike in the anime, Misty has changed her hairstyle later on to match the one worn by her in {{game|Gold and Silver|s}}. In the {{chap|Gold, Silver & Crystal}}, during the second Team Rocket crisis, {{p|Suicune}} lured Misty into a battle underneath [[Tohjo Falls]] and later offered to be her partner. The recruitment somehow gave her strength and confidence, as she was able to easily defeat [[Whitney]] in her exhibition match at the Indigo Plateau. However, she later becomes injured in the battle with the [[Masked Man]], and Suicune goes on to take {{adv|Crystal}} as its second partner for the battle's climax.

Misty seems to have a crush on Red. It is however, considered distinct from Misty's [[PokéShipping|suspected crush]] on Ash in the {{pkmn|anime}}, and in other manga. During the second Team Rocket crisis, [[Erika]] observes that Misty is planning on making some sort of confession of romantic feelings to Red. The slapstick manga, [[Pokémon Pocket Monsters]], depicts Misty differently than in other manga. {{OBP|Red|Pocket Monsters}}, the protagonist of the series, is seeking a {{evostone|Moon Stone}} along with his Pikachu and his Clefairy. When they meet Misty, Clefairy notices that she is wearing a Moon Stone as a necklace. She declares that they battle her if they wish to have it. While the Clefairy is initially pumped up to battle, he quickly changes his mind when he sees that his opponent is a massive {{p|Blastoise}}. After a while, the battle is won when Clefairy sucks up all the water in a nearby river and releases the water onto Misty's Pokémon, sending it flying into the sky. Just when Misty is about to reward Red's group with the prize they sought, it gets stolen by someone else.

She is seen again when Red participates in the No. 1 Pokémon contest acting as a judge and when he went to a swimming pool.

His Pikachu is sent next, but having no idea of what to do around the water, it falls in. As he attempts to save his Pokémon, Satoshi gets a cramp and nearly drowns, but Misty manages to rescue him.

Later on, as Satoshi and Pikachu dry themselves off, Misty suggests that she teach them how to properly move around in the water, so they can stand a better chance next time. He trains along with Pikachu, who floats on a life saver. Misty attempts to take the device away from the mouse, only to see that it is clinging to it. Eventually, as Satoshi and Pikachu end up improving. As he sits around with a {{p|Seel}}, Misty relays a story over how a {{p|Dewgong}} rescued her once when a large wave swept her underwater at the beach. Due to that experience, she feels gratitude toward the Pokémon.

After Satoshi thwarts an attack by a {{tc|Team Rocket Grunt}}, she awards him with the {{Badge|Cascade}} and her Seel, telling him that she hopes to meet the Dewgong that rescued her someday.

For a very short time, she was the [[Gym Leader]] of the [[Pewter City]] [[Gym]], known officially as the [[Pewter Gym]], and she gave out the {{badge|Boulder}} to challengers who defeated her.

Lola is married to {{ka|Flint}} and has ten children. Flint left one day to become a professional [[Pokémon Trainer]] and never returned. Some time after that, Lola herself wandered away to [[Pokémon training|train]] Pokémon, leaving Brock in charge of his many siblings. One of Lola's many hobbies is decorating.

In the {{pkmn|Chronicles}} episode ''[[SS001|A Family That Battles Together Stays Together]]'', Brock returned to Pewter City after traveling through [[Kanto]], [[Johto]], and the [[Orange Archipelago]] and found that Flint was shirking his Gym Leader duties. Flint explained that the Gym was ruined because Lola had returned. Lola had totally redecorated the inside and outside of the Gym, planting a series of trees and bushes outside. She also filled the inside of the Gym with water, and decorated it with streamers and pink hearts and stars. Flint ended up closing the Gym because he couldn't stand it anymore.

Brock returned home to find his mother cheerfully redecorating the house. Lola gushed over her own work and showed off her {{type|Water}} Pokémon and said that they were much better than {{t|Rock}} types. Brock demanded to know how Flint could let this happen, and Flint explained that he just couldn't say no to his wife.

Lola and Flint had a rematch for the title of Gym Leader. Flint was sure he would lose due to type disadvantage, but Brock pressured him into the battle anyway. Flint's Pokémon almost ended up drowning in the match and had to be resuscitated. Flint was almost ready to run away again, but after some flirting, Lola and Flint ended up being [[Shipping:List of canon shippings#Brock'sHormonesShipping|lovey-dovey]] with each other and the two agreed to change the Gym to specialize in both Rock ''and'' Water types (to their children's dismay).

Not ready to give up, Brock decided to battle his own mother to keep the Gym the way it was, and he came out victorious. Lola said she would give up trying to change the Gym's type, but Flint managed to persuade Brock to let Lola keep the decorations, even though she was supposed to take them down if she lost. Brock passed on the title of Gym Leader, along with most of his Pokémon, to the eldest of the younger siblings, [[Forrest]].

Lola also made a short appearance in ''[[AG177|Grating Spaces!]]'', where she went to a trip with her husband and [[Brock's Ludicolo]], leaving their children alone at home. When Brock came home and found out that the Gym was remodeled and they were leaving, he became mad at both his parents. The couple and Ludicolo later came home at the end of the episode.

Marshal first appears in [[Nimbasa City]] carrying an unconscious {{adv|White}} after her defeat at the hands of [[N]]. After stopping {{adv|Black}} who had mistaken him as her attacker, Marshal gives the girl to him and leaves so he can tend his own business. Later, he meets up with Alder for a special event at the [[Battle Subway]] and they begin battling. Despite Marshal seemingly gaining the upper hand, Alder manages to defeat him.

They reveal that they were testing the Battle Subway before it gets open to public, but also need a normal Trainer to also test it. When White decides to test it, Marshal sends Black to help her catch a Pokémon so she can battle. After helping White capture a Pokémon, Marshal reveals that Black's newly-caught {{p|Tirtouga}} used to belong to him before he released it a day earlier.

Later, Marshal travels with Alder to confront N after he manages to befriend {{p|Zekrom}}. Marshal referees the battle between Alder and N, which ends in N's favor. At the Pokémon League, Marshal gathers with his fellow Elite Four members to make way for the tournament. Marshal, furious at how Team Plasma has used Alder's defeat to justify their goals, asks his allies to help join in the fight against them. Much to his disappointment, none of them agree with his wishes. When Team Plasma attacks the Pokémon League, Marshal and the other Elite Four face Hood Man and his team of {{p|Tornadus}}, {{p|Thundurus}}, and {{p|Landorus}}.
