The device is christened "Ange", and it is embedded into the [[Prism Tower]]. He planned to use it after reuniting with Floette, but that day did not come to pass as they were living in a time of peace.

Five years prior to {{g|Legends Z-A}} and during the events of {{g|X and Y}}, [[Lysandre]] sought to activate both Ange and the ultimate weapon at the same time. However, the activation of Ange required Eternal Flower Floette, which Lysandre couldn't find, and thus he settled for activating only the ultimate weapon. After the ultimate weapon was reactivated, the shock caused Ange to reawaken as well, unleashing its Mega Power and causing the phenomenon of [[Rogue Mega Evolution]] and the appearance of [[Mega Crystal]]s across [[Lumiose City]].

Fearing the inevitable reactivation of Ange, AZ approached [[Quasartico Inc.]] three years after the re-firing of the ultimate weapon with a warning. Quasartico Inc. itself would soon establish the [[Z-A Royale]] as a ploy to help AZ find the strongest [[Mega Evolution]] user in the city. Conversations with AZ and Lysandre, now known as "L", revealed that the only way to stop Ange is to have a [[Pokémon Trainer]] Mega Evolve AZ's Floette. L also mentioned that the player would need {{p|Zygarde}}, who had tasked him with helping it regain its full power and find a Trainer worthy of it.

At the climax of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, [[Urbain]]/[[Taunie]] manage to reach the control panel of Ange with Mega Floette and have her absorb the Mega Power emanating from the tower. However, instead of shutting down, Ange instead goes fully rogue, absorbing Mega Floette's power and turning into '''Hyperrogue Ange Floette''', unleashing gigantic flowers and roots all over the city and causing many wild {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} to undergo Rogue Mega Evolution. The player, with the help of everyone in the city, reaches Zygarde and earns its trust, and they and Zygarde work together to defeat Hyperrogue Ange Floette. After its defeat, Hyperrogue Ange Floette unleashes a final attack on [[Lumiose City]] (similar to that of the [[ultimate weapon]]), necessitating the player to Mega Evolve Zygarde into Mega Zygarde and have it unleash its {{m|Nihil Light}} [[move]], releasing AZ's Floette from Ange's influence and eliminating Ange for good. Ange is powered by [[AZ]]'s [[AZ#Befriended|Floette]]. It has the power to trigger [[Rogue Mega Evolution]] by exposing the {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} to the [[Mega Energy|machine's light]]. It is embedded in the [[Prism Tower]], designed to give eternal life to all living beings that it hits. It is the opposite of the [[ultimate weapon]], which instead destroys life. The machine has a control panel at the top of the tower, where a Mega Evolution user and a Mega Floette together can control it.

When activated by Mega Floette, Ange reveals its true form "Ange Floette", however, if Floette loses control of the machine while inside, she will be absorbed and Ange will become Hyperrogue Ange Floette, being capable of using her moves, particularly Floette's Light of Ruin, which becomes capable of raining down over the entire city.

Unique to this fight is that the player is facing Hyperrogue Ange Floette with the aid of {{p|Zygarde}} {{form|Zygarde|Complete Forme}}. The fight is a scripted encounter where the player deals damage to Red and Blue Eternal Flower opponents and then Zygarde attacks with either of its [[signature move]]s three times before ending the fight with {{m|Core Enforcer}}.

Hyperrogue Ange Floette cannot be directly damaged by the player. {{p|Zygarde}} will distract the black flower high in the sky above, while the player battles it on the ground to create an opening for Zygarde to launch an attack. The creature battles the player using a Blue Eternal Flower and Red Eternal Flower that are [[Type#Typeless|typeless]], and resistant to all regular attacks, but are vulnerable to [[Plus Move]]s.

The flowers can use one of several attacks, and will prioritise targeting the player themselves over their Pokémon:
* A lashing attack that can only be performed on targets within close-range.
* A repeated pulse of projectiles that travel in one direction.
* A shockwave that damages anyone within a small area of effect.
* A powerful, continuous stream of energy that is beamed at long-range in one direction, dealing very heavy damage to anyone struck by it.
* A toxic aura that damages anyone within it.
* Pools of electrified terrain, which are telegraphed with purple sparks appearing on the ground before becoming electrified.

Defeating a flower will deal a small portion of damage to Hypperogue Ange Floette. After defeating both flowers, the player will switch to Zygarde in the sky, who is able to use {{m|Thousand Arrows}}, {{m|Thousand Waves}}, or {{m|Land's Wrath}} to strike the black flower. Regardless of which move is used, Zygarde will deal a large portion of damage to Hyperrogue Ange Floette. The player will then switch back to the [[player character]] on the ground, who will need to defeat the now-revived flowers in order to create an opening for Zygarde to attack once again.

After the first phase, the black flower will use {{m|Light of Ruin}}, and Zygarde will create a green barrier that the player must quickly move under for protection. Occasionally, the flowers will submerge into the ground, singnaling that the black flower is about to use this attack again. Once Hyperrogue Ange Floette reaches low [[HP]], the player switches back to Zygarde, who must attack the black flower using [[Core Enforcer]] to defeat the entity.

Following this, Hyperrogue Ange Floette will make a final, desperate attempt to destroy Lumiose City using Light of Ruin. The [[pebble]] in the player's [[bag|satchel]] will start reacting, and they will be prompted to select it, turning it into a [[Zygardite]] which is subsequently used to [[Mega Evolution|Mega Evolve]] Zygarde. As Mega Zygarde, the player must use one final move, {{m|Nihil Light}} to stop the attack and destroy the machine once and for all.

Once defeated the fight goes to a cutscene that ends with Mega Zygarde using Nihil Light to finish off this unique boss for good. Unlike Rogue Mega Evolutions, Hyperrogue Ange Floette cannot be refought post-game, and is fought only once in the finale of the main story.

At the beginning of the game, Quasartico begins early renovation work on [[Prism Tower]], but a disturbance causes the tower to emit an energy known as [[Mega Power]]. The release of this energy causes wild Pokémon to be drawn to the city in droves, and prompts some to [[Mega Evolve]] on their own, becoming a phenomenon known as [[Rogue Mega Evolution]]. At AZ's insistence, the company introduces the Z-A Royale to find the strongest [[Mega Evolution]] user in Lumiose City. Competitors are lured with the promise of a wish being granted to any trainer who reaches Rank A, provided it is within the company's ability to do so.

Quasartico begins working with [[Team MZ]], a group of youngsters residing at [[Hotel Z]], to investigate and pacify the Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon as they appear. The company closes Prism Tower to the public, and begins constructing a confinement structure around the building to contain the Mega Power being released. Jett appears in adverts broadcast on screens around the city to explain and reassure citizens of the works being carried out. Signboards are also posted encouraging citizens to break clusters of [[Mega Crystal]]s that have begun appearing throughout Lumiose City due to the release of Mega Power. Over the course of the main storyline, Quasartico gradually converts existing areas around the city into new wild zones. The company meets opposition from local citizens suspicious of the company's motives, notably from the [[Lumiose Safety Group]]. The containment around Prism Tower is slowly assembled, ultimately sealing the tower completely.

When the {{player}} reaches Rank V in the Z-A Royale, they must visit [[Vinnie]] at the company's headquarters on [[Magenta Street]], but are accosted by two security {{p|Dedenne}} at the entrance. Vinnie challenges the player and [[Urbain]]/[[Taunie]], and promotes them both straight to Rank F so that they can better assist the company in resolving the Rogue Mega Evolution situation. At this point the interior of the headquarters may be visited, where a receptionist trades the player [[Mega Stone]]s in exchange for Mega Shards. The selection of available Mega Stones is expanded as the player increases their rank.

Later in the game, Jett reveals that the wild zones were not part of the initial redevelopment plan. The company only starting establishing them as a means to protect the city from wild Pokémon experiencing Rogue Mega Evolution. AZ reveals that 2,000-years prior, he created [[Ange]], a device hidden within the skeleton of Prism Tower that can bestow eternal life to other beings. He informs Team MZ of his belief that the device woke in response to the activation of the [[ultimate weapon]] five year prior. The reason he is seeking the strongest Mega Evolution user is so that they can Mega Evolve his {{p|Floette}} into Mega Floette and reach the control panel within Ange to shut it down.

At the conclusion of the main storyline, Ange unexpectedly fuses with Mega Floette to become Hyperrogue Ange Floette. It shatters the confinement structure and the Prism Tower itself, using the tower's internal skeleton as a body. The player and [[Zygarde]] defeat Hyperrogue Ange Floette, and AZ subsequently passes away from natural causes, ending his involvement with the company.

Following these events, Quasartico begins to clean up the debris that had rained down upon the city, converting the ruins of Prism Tower and its surrounding grounds into [[Wild Zone 20]]. The player and Urbain/Taunie make their wish to Jett and Vinnie for reaching Rank A, which is to continue the Z-A Royale indefinitely. Vinnie reveals that AZ had made the same request to him before passing, and the company turns the competition into the Infinite Z-A Royale. Jett steps down from her position, and Urbain/Taunie is appointed the new president of Quasartico Inc.

She is initially an illiterate orphan who doesn't even have enough money to buy [[Poké Ball]]s. She meets Looker and the player during their first case, where concerned mothers reported that their children have been hanging out in suspicious alleyways. In reality, the children were playing with and protecting Emma and Mimi. Looker invites Emma to live at the {{DL|North Boulevard|Looker Bureau}} and work as his assistant. Though she is interested, Emma doesn't want to leave Mimi behind. Looker extends the invitation to Mimi as well, but Mimi is terrified of adults and runs off. After the player has found and befriended Mimi, Emma is much friendlier towards Looker and accepts his invitation, heading back to the Looker Bureau with him, Mimi, and the player. Emma then begins to learn how to read, write, and do basic arithmetic under Looker's tutelage.

During the following case, Emma returns to the Bureau to find a hysterical {{tc|Tourist}} angrily shouting insults in English (Japanese if the language is set to English) about Looker, who had left moments ago under the assumption that the woman wanted tea. Speaking in the language of the tourist, Emma defends Looker while Mimi translates their conversation telepathically for the player and Looker, revealing that the woman had her Pokémon stolen at the {{DL|North Boulevard|Lumiose Station}}. When Looker returns and learns of the situation, Emma tries to discourage him from helping the woman, but Looker insists that anyone in distress deserves their help and quickly leaves for the station. Emma then begs for the player to help Looker, revealing that he is defenseless because his [[Looker's Croagunk|only Pokémon]] died during a past case.
The culprits at the station turn out to be the {{tc|Lumiose Gang Member|Lumiose Gang}}, a trio of gangsters, who stole the Pokémon in order to lure Looker to their turf for a challenge. Emma had unintentionally become their boss after beating them in a fight, and they recognized her strength as leadership, but she stopped hanging around them once she took up residence at the Looker Bureau. Once the gangsters are defeated by the player, Emma shows up and demands that they return the stolen Pokémon and apologize to Looker.

Emma steadily grows worried that she and Mimi are a financial burden on Looker, though he assures her that they have enough money to get by and encourages her to focus on her studies. Still feeling guilty, Emma sets off to look for part-time work at a café that she saw was hiring. It turns out that the café was actually {{DL|Lumiose City|Lysandre Café}} and Emma was tricked into being a test subject for [[Xerosic]]'s invention, the Expansion Suit. This leads to her disappearing for long stretches of time, which worries Looker greatly.

When in the Expansion Suit, Emma is given the codename '''Essentia''' (Japanese: '''エスプリ''' ''Esprit''). The suit enhances her physical abilities to superhuman levels, gives her the ability to override a Poké Ball's programming, and allows her to change her appearance. While running his tests, Xerosic finds that Emma has no experience as a {{pkmn|Trainer}} and teaches her the basics, also allowing her to borrow his Pokémon. However, the Pokémon prefer playing with Emma instead of battling, which forces Xerosic to control the suit remotely. Emma falls unconscious while the remote-control function is engaged, and she has no memory of anything that happens while she is "asleep".

During her tests as Essentia, she behaves like a robot and follows Xerosic's every command. The first test has her sneak into the [[Lumiose Museum]] and vandalize a painting. Afterwards, she begins lurking in dark alleys and challenging unsuspecting people to battle, stealing their Poké Balls afterwards. This catches the attention of Looker, who works with the player to bait and catch the perpetrator. When she gets cornered, Mimi runs in, tipping Looker off to Essentia's true identity. Xerosic's control over the suit starts to malfunction after Essentia tries to attack Mimi, only to accidentally hurt Looker. Essentia flees the scene and the tests are temporarily suspended.

The following day, the player is sent to apprehend Xerosic at Lysandre Labs. After the player defeats Essentia in a series of battles, Looker arrives and demands that Xerosic release Emma. After the suit's remote-control function starts glitching again, Xerosic agrees, letting Emma go and allowing Looker to take him into custody.

After Xerosic is brought to justice, Looker reveals to Emma that he is a member of the [[International Police]] and that he must leave to continue his civic duty. However, he feels strongly towards Emma and in order to ensure that she has a bright future, purchases the entire building where Looker Bureau was located, and instructs Emma to use it however she sees fit. As the new head detective, Emma vows to keep Lumiose City safe with her identity as Essentia, using the suit and Pokémon that Xerosic gave her.

After completing the Looker storyline, the player can have a [[rematch]] with Emma in her Expansion Suit once per day on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, she will not be wearing the Expansion Suit and talk about her duties as the head of the Looker Bureau.

While Zygarde charged itself with the power of nature, it was left defenseless, giving Essentia the chance to catch it, losing control of Xerxer in the process. With a remote control device designed by Xerosic, Lysandre controlled Essentia's body like a puppet instead of her usual AI and forced her to command Zygarde's attacks. He had [[Marisso]] attack Essentia, shattering her helmet, only to be horrified to learn it was Emma in the suit. X tried to help Emma out the suit, but she refused, noting how the suit made her feel safe and protected. When asked if defeating Team Flare would make people treat Emma better, X was left speechless.

In X and Y, Emma is a young girl living in the dark alleyways of [[Lumiose City]] with her {{p|Espurr}} friend Mimi (Japanese: '''もこお''' ''Mokō''). She is initially an illiterate orphan who doesn't even have enough money to buy [[Poké Ball]]s. She meets Looker and the player during their first case, where concerned mothers reported that their children have been hanging out in suspicious alleyways. In reality, the children were playing with and protecting Emma and Mimi. Looker invites Emma to live at the {{DL|North Boulevard|Looker Bureau}} and work as his assistant. Though she is interested, Emma doesn't want to leave Mimi behind. Looker extends the invitation to Mimi as well, but Mimi is terrified of adults and runs off. After the player has found and befriended Mimi, Emma is much friendlier towards Looker and accepts his invitation, heading back to the Looker Bureau with him, Mimi, and the player. Emma then begins to learn how to read, write, and do basic arithmetic under Looker's tutelage.

During the following case, Emma returns to the Bureau to find a hysterical {{tc|Tourist}} angrily shouting insults in English (Japanese if the language is set to English) about Looker, who had left moments ago under the assumption that the woman wanted tea. Speaking in the language of the tourist, Emma defends Looker while Mimi translates their conversation telepathically for the player and Looker, revealing that the woman had her Pokémon stolen at the {{DL|North Boulevard|Lumiose Station}}. When Looker returns and learns of the situation, Emma tries to discourage him from helping the woman, but Looker insists that anyone in distress deserves their help and quickly leaves for the station. Emma then begs for the player to help Looker, revealing that he is defenseless because his [[Looker's Croagunk|only Pokémon]] died during a past case.
The culprits at the station turn out to be the {{tc|Lumiose Gang Member|Lumiose Gang}}, a trio of gangsters, who stole the Pokémon in order to lure Looker to their turf for a challenge. Emma had unintentionally become their boss after beating them in a fight, and they recognized her strength as leadership, but she stopped hanging around them once she took up residence at the Looker Bureau. Once the gangsters are defeated by the player, Emma shows up and demands that they return the stolen Pokémon and apologize to Looker.

Emma steadily grows worried that she and Mimi are a financial burden on Looker, though he assures her that they have enough money to get by and encourages her to focus on her studies. Still feeling guilty, Emma sets off to look for part-time work at a café that she saw was hiring. It turns out that the café was actually {{DL|Lumiose City|Lysandre Café}} and Emma was tricked into being a test subject for [[Xerosic]]'s invention, the Expansion Suit. This leads to her disappearing for long stretches of time, which worries Looker greatly.

When in the Expansion Suit, Emma is given the codename '''Essentia''' (Japanese: '''エスプリ''' ''Esprit''). The suit enhances her physical abilities to superhuman levels, gives her the ability to override a Poké Ball's programming, and allows her to change her appearance. While running his tests, Xerosic finds that Emma has no experience as a {{pkmn|Trainer}} and teaches her the basics, also allowing her to borrow his Pokémon. However, the Pokémon prefer playing with Emma instead of battling, which forces Xerosic to control the suit remotely. Emma falls unconscious while the remote-control function is engaged, and she has no memory of anything that happens while she is "asleep".

During her tests as Essentia, she behaves like a robot and follows Xerosic's every command. The first test has her sneak into the [[Lumiose Museum]] and vandalize a painting. Afterwards, she begins lurking in dark alleys and challenging unsuspecting people to battle, stealing their Poké Balls afterwards. This catches the attention of Looker, who works with the player to bait and catch the perpetrator. When she gets cornered, Mimi runs in, tipping Looker off to Essentia's true identity. Xerosic's control over the suit starts to malfunction after Essentia tries to attack Mimi, only to accidentally hurt Looker. Essentia flees the scene and the tests are temporarily suspended.

The following day, the player is sent to apprehend Xerosic at Lysandre Labs. After the player defeats Essentia in a series of battles, Looker arrives and demands that Xerosic release Emma. After the suit's remote-control function starts glitching again, Xerosic agrees, letting Emma go and allowing Looker to take him into custody.

After Xerosic is brought to justice, Looker reveals to Emma that he is a member of the [[International Police]] and that he must leave to continue his civic duty. However, he feels strongly towards Emma and in order to ensure that she has a bright future, purchases the entire building where Looker Bureau was located, and instructs Emma to use it however she sees fit. As the new head detective, Emma vows to keep Lumiose City safe with her identity as Essentia, using the suit and Pokémon that Xerosic gave her.

X and Y fought with their Mega-Evolved Pokémon, but the battle was interrupted by the arrival of {{adv|Zygarde}}, who aimed to suppress Xerxer's power. While Zygarde charged itself with the power of nature, it was left defenseless, giving Essentia the chance to catch it, losing control of Xerxer in the process. Essentia fled, but the repeated damage to her suit prevented Xerosic from being able to communicate with or control her.

In ''[[PS590|Yveltal Steals]]'', Lysandre summoned Essentia and Zygarde to battle X, {{adv|Blue}}, and {{adv|Blaine}} at the [[Pokémon Village]]. With a remote control device designed by Xerosic, Lysandre controlled Essentia's body like a puppet instead of her usual AI and forced her to command Zygarde's attacks.
