Where does "Original Series" come from? I believe (though I'm not sure) it is a name given by the fandom or... at least it is how ''we'' call these "seasons" but, if it isn't like {{tt|"official"|or something...}} it should be stated that Original Series it's not an ''official'' name and that we came up with it. Advanced Generation and Diamond and Pearl (well, the last one might be OK since it comes from the japanese name of the seasons) and I don't know about AG. But my point is: Where did we take that name? We just named it... just because? Out of the nowhere only because "we have the need to name it differently from the latter seasons"? :The subtitles you see on screen don't always correspond with what the actual season is. The final 12 episodes of the Johto saga are given the Master Quest subtitle, but are technically part of Season 6. ==Blurb==

In the wake of yet another unsuccessful attempt to grab Pikachu, Team Rocket comes up with a new plan: dress up like Ash, Serena, and Bonnie, then run around town, wreaking havoc everywhere! When the actual Ash, Serena, and Bonnie arrive in town, they learn of the strange goings-on and promise Officer Jenny they will stay out of trouble while she investigates.

Meanwhile, Jessie and James, now disguised as scientists from the Kalos Institute of Technology, have lured Clemont away from the others and coaxed him into helping them with a couple of their robots. The next day, using these Clemont-improved devices (which they're calling "Team Rocketronic Gear"), they grab Pikachu and make their getaway—until Clemont introduces a new invention! Team Rocket is sent blasting off again, Pikachu is safely returned, and our heroes resume their journey to Shalour City.

==Plot==
While on their way to [[Shalour City]], {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} have encountered {{TRT}}, who hold {{AP|Pikachu}} captive. [[James]] sends out {{TP|James|Inkay}}, while Ash sends out {{AP|Froakie}} with a {{m|Water Pulse}}. Inkay dodges, while {{an|Clemont}} pulls out a machine. When Inkay uses {{m|Psybeam}} next, Clemont absorbs the move with his machine. James tells it to use {{m|Tackle}} instead, but Inkay is sent back by the machine. Ash tells Froakie to use {{m|Bubble}}, which sends Inkay crashing into a tree. [[Jessie]] commands {{TP|Jessie|Pumpkaboo}} to use {{m|Shadow Ball}} and then {{m|Dark Pulse}}, both of which are absorbed by Clemont's machine. Ash and Froakie finish with another Water Pulse, sending Pumpkaboo crashing into James and dropping Pikachu's cage and releasing him. With Pikachu back, Ash commands him to use {{m|Thunderbolt}} to send Team Rocket blasting off. Just as the friends thank Clemont for his help, his prototype explodes. Team Rocket lands in the forest, thinking that Clemont's device could potentially be useful. Jessie tells the others of a secret plan.

In a park, a little boy named {{kal|Myron}} plays with his {{p|Pancham}} when a stranger introduces himself as Ash from [[Pallet Town]]. "Ash" calls over "{{an|Bonnie}}" and "{{an|Serena}}", who are actually Jessie and {{MTR}} in disguise pretending to be the children, while James plays Ash. Inkay masquerades as Pikachu, causing Myron to question his ability to float in mid-air. James asks for a battle, to which Myron declines, but James goes ahead and tells "Pikachu" to use Psybeam on Pancham. Inkay uses Tackle, which sends Pancham into the ground. Team Rocket runs away, leaving Myron to call [[Officer Jenny]]. Team Rocket runs around town, helping themselves to food without paying. Upon reaching the city, the real Ash and his friends are confronted by Myron, who tells them he has reported them to Officer Jenny. Upon noticing that Ash's Pikachu is not floating like the fake Pikachu, he apologizes, saying he mistook them for someone else. At a food cart where Team Rocket stole food, the same thing happens, the owner initially demanding money before noticing that Ash and his friends do indeed look different than the thieves, after the friends tell him they had just arrived in the city.

While receiving their healed Pokémon at the [[Pokémon Center]], an announcement calls for Bonnie, Ash, and Serena to come to the front of the Pokémon Center. When they do, Officer Jenny and angry restaurant owners are waiting for them, and Ash once again tells them that they have just arrived in the city, which Officer Jenny and the owners believe. Ash, Serena, and Bonnie get called down for questioning, leaving Clemont alone. Noticing this from around a corner, Team Rocket prepares to enter the second phase of their plan. At the police station, Bonnie, Ash, and Serena are shocked to find out what they have been accused of, and call Clemont back in the Pokémon Center to tell him of the situation.

Jessie and James, disguised as scientists, enter and ask Clemont for help on a [[Team Rocket's mechas|mecha]], to which he accepts, leaving a note for his friends. At their laboratory, Clemont is impressed by both their tools and their newest {{p|Heliolisk}} mecha. Jessie and James tell Clemont that they would like him to make a defense system against {{t|Electric}} Pokémon, and he agrees, beginning right away. While he works, Team Rocket receives a call from {{an|Giovanni}}, who is satisfied with their progress in the [[Kalos]] region. Clemont has finished the mecha when he notices another faulty device, meant to transport Pokémon, and fixes it for Team Rocket. Clemont comes back to the Pokémon Center, where his friends tell him that fakes disguised as themselves have been running around causing mayhem, and vow to catch the troublemakers. In a field, Team Rocket finishes burying something, excited for the next day's events.

The next day, Team Rocket again eats and runs without paying, knowing that soon Ash and his friends will come to find them. At the shop-keeper's directions, the children find and confront their lookalikes in the field, who reveal themselves to be Team Rocket. Team Rocket releases the Heliolisk mecha that Clemont helped build, determined to get Pikachu. James commands the mecha to get Pikachu, who dodges its claws, but whose Thunderbolt and {{m|Electro Ball}} have no effect. Pikachu is hit by the mecha's power, and is punted by its claws into Jessie's waiting capsule. Jessie puts the capsule into Clemont's Pokémon Transportation machine, and Pikachu is transported underground. Meanwhile, the mecha malfunctions, and, being Clemont's invention, explodes, sending a successful Team Rocket blasting off.

Ash desperately tries to go after Pikachu, but Clemont says he will take care of it. He uses Serena's guidebook to determine radius in which the other end of the Tranportation machine is located. He releases {{TP|Clemont|Bunnelby}}, and commands him to dig underground to find where the transportation device leads. Bunnelby leads them to Team Rocket, who send out Inkay and Pumpkaboo to get rid of the friends. Clemont takes out a new move absorption machine. The machine absorbs Inkay's Psybeam and Pumpkaboo's Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball. Clemont commands Bunnelby to use {{m|Double Slap}} on Inkay and {{m|Mud Shot}} on Pumpkaboo, which also hits Jessie, causing Pikachu to fly out of her hands. Reunited with Ash, Pikachu uses Electro Ball to send Team Rocket blasting off again. Ash thanks Clemont for saving them. Clemont says it was his fault for building the machine in the first place, but the others tell him he shouldn't blame himself because Team Rocket ruined everything. As if on cue, the move absorption machine crackles with electricity and, as always, explodes. With Pikachu back safe and sound, Ash and his friends continue their journey.

==Blurb==

Ash, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie meet Diantha, the Champion of the Kalos region! Professor Sycamore is on the scene as well, doing research on Diantha's Gardevoir and its Mega Evolution.

Ash challenges the Champion to a battle, and under unusual circumstances, she accepts. However, their battle is quickly interrupted by the Team Rocket trio, who grab Gardevoir in a cage of energy and fly away! Thanks to the strong bond between the two of them, Diantha knows exactly where Gardevoir is, and she leads our heroes there at once.

She challenges Team Rocket, calling on the power of her Key Stone—and inside the cage, Gardevoir Mega Evolves! Professor Sycamore is delighted to witness a Mega Evolution in person, and Mega Gardevoir makes short work of the villains. Diantha has to get back to a movie shoot, but she agrees to battle Ash again someday...just as soon as he beats the Kalos League!

==Plot==
This episode begins with {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}}, who have found a poster advertising a battle featuring the [[Pokémon Champion]] of the [[Kalos]] region, [[Diantha]]. The friends tell Ash, who has never heard of Diantha before, that Diantha is not only the strongest Pokémon trainer in Kalos, but is also a famous actress. Ash decides to request a battle with Diantha, and the friends run off to meet her.

Behind the scenes at the stadium, Diantha's manager tells a large crowd that Diantha is not accepting meetings or interviews. Just as Ash and his friends are about to leave, [[Professor Sycamore]] appears and motions to them to follow him into a room. The professor has come to examine the [[Mega Evolution]] that Diantha's Gardevoir possesses. The friends are excited to also hear that Diantha is in the room next door. Ash head towards the door, wanting to request a battle immediately, but before he can open it Diantha emerges, much to the awe of {{an|Serena}}, {{an|Clemont}}, and {{an|Bonnie}}. Professor Sycamore asks Diantha if she has thought about his request to leave her [[Key Stone]] temporarily in his possession, to which she respectfully declines, saying that the Key Stone is the very bond between her and Gardevoir. Professor Sycamore persists, however, and Diantha begins to offer a compromise for the next time she visits [[Lumiose City]]. Diantha's manager [[Kathi Lee]], however, appears and abruptly tells Sycamore that Diantha's schedule is full. Diantha tells the group to feel free to watch the battle.

At the battlefield, the two opponents take to the field to a cheering crowd, Diantha and a previous year's champion from [[Brackish Town]], {{an|Magnus}}. In the stands, Ash asks Professor Sycamore about the Key Stone. Professor Sycamore tells him the Key Stone is the stone Trainers hold, and the [[Mega Stone]] is the stone that Pokémon hold, both crucial to Mega Evolution. Diantha releases Gardevoir,who wears a Mega Stone. Professor Sycamore tells the travelers that a close bond between the Trainer and Pokemon is also crucial to Mega Evolution. Above, {{TRT}} watches and decides to get Gardevoir for themselves, hoping to please {{an|Giovanni}}. On the field, Magnus releases {{p|Absol}}, and the battle begins. Magnus and Absol begin with {{m|Bite}}, but Gardevoir is too quick. Absol then uses {{m|Quick Attack}}, but again Gardevoir evades the attack, able to understand Diantha's commands merely through eye contact. Magnus's Absol uses {{m|Psycho Cut}}, but Gardevoir repels it with {{m|Shadow Ball}}, which rebounds to hit Absol. Absol uses {{m|Perish Song}}, but Gardevoir uses {{m|Moonblast}} to knock Absol out, winning the match.

Inside the stadium, a crowd again forms, hoping to see Diantha. An officer tells the crowd that Diantha has already left for a movie shooting. Serena suggests that the group go try Brackish Town's famous chocolate cake, Professor Sycamore opting to join them after he takes care of his data. However, when the travelers reach the restaurant, they are greeted by a long line. However, Bonnie and Serena are determined to get through the line, and manage to procure one slice. Faced with the predicament of sharing one slice with four people, Clemont pulls out a machine that can cut the piece into exactly equal pieces. Before he can cut into the dessert, the group notices a disappointed woman who was unable to procure a slice, and offer to share with her. The lady reveals she is indeed Diantha, and the group share the dessert, after which Bonnie asks for Diantha to marry her brother. Ash determinedly asks Diantha to have a battle with him, and after his persistence, she accepts. Professor Sycamore appears, wanting to also watch the battle.

In a field, Ash begins to battle Diantha's Gardevoir with {{AP|Pikachu}}. Ash begins with Pikachu's {{m|Iron Tail}}, followed up by Quick Attack, which Diantha's Gardevoir nimbly avoids. Ash next commands Pikachu to use {{m|Electro Ball}} and {{m|Thunderbolt}}, which Gardevoir also dodges. Gardevoir uses Shadow Ball, which sends Pikachu flying and Ash running to catch him. Seeing Ash's devotion to his Pokémon, Diantha recognizes his passion. Just then, Team Rocket releases a net, which captures Gardevoir in a transparent box. Diantha orders Gardevoir to use Shadow Ball on the box, but to no avail. [[Jessie]] throws a smoke bomb and Team Rocket's balloon soars off. Diantha, who knows where Gardevoir has gone, leads the way.

Diantha recalls an experience in which she was lost in the fog while shooting in the [[Lapidarian Highlands]], and her Key Stone led her to Gardevoir. Ash says he think their hearts are calling out to each other. The group reaches Gardevoir, and Diantha tells the others to stay back while she confronts Team Rocket. Diantha mega-evolves Gardevoir into [[Mega Gardevoir]], and this time, the force of Mega Gardevoir's Shadow Ball blasts the box. Diantha tells Mega Gardevoir to use Moon Blast, which sends Team Rocket blasting off again.

The group congratulates Diantha as Mega Gardevoir returns back to normal. A helicopter with Kathi Lee arrives to pick up Diantha. Diantha thanks Ash and all the children, but has to go to her next shooting. Just before she leaves,Ash tells Diantha that he is challenging the [[Kalos League]], and asks her to battle him when the time comes. Diantha tells him she'll look forward to it, and the friends and Professor Sycamore wave as the helicopter rides off into the sunset, having all learned more about the secrets of Mega Evolution.

The '''S.S. Cussler''' (Japanese: '''カッスラー号''' ''S.S. Cussler'') is an anime-exclusive location that was featured in ''[[XY024|An Undersea Place to Call Home!]]''. It is a sunken ship located just off {{rt|8|Kalos|Muraille Coast}}. It bears a {{p|Milotic}} emblem on its side.

The S.S. Cussler used to be a luxury liner until it hit an iceberg at night and sunk to the bottom of the ocean long ago. Although it sunk far off the coast of [[Kalos]], due to sea currents the remains of the ship were carried close to Muraille Coast.

Years later, two Underwater Biologists named [[Eddy]] and [[Lindsey]] went searching for the remains of the S.S. Cussler to find out more about the sea currents that brought the ship to its current location. Before they started their exploration, they met up with {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}}, who wanted to help out in finding the sunken ship. Ash and {{an|Serena}} accompanied Lindsey in a submarine, and not before long they found the ship at the bottom of the ocean. They discovered the {{p|Dragalge}} living in the area had merged many other ships carried there by sea currents together with the S.S. Cussler by using {{m|Acid}}. That way they created a gigantic building to live in together with other Pokémon.

Meanwhile, {{TRT}} had created a hole in the S.S. Cussler and entered it with their [[Team Rocket's mechas#Team Rocket's submarines|Magikarp submarine]] in search for treasure. Ash, Serena and Lindsey found out about this and followed them inside. When Team Rocket tried to steal a vault located deep inside the ship by attaching rockets to it, the ship was heavily damaged and started to collapse. The Pokémon living in the area came together however and together with Ash, Serena and Lindsey they managed to stop the S.S. Cussler from collapsing.

The '''Big P Pokémon Race''' is a race held at the Laramie Big P Ranch in [[Safari Land]]. It is held to decide who has the best Pokémon that was raised at the ranch. The winner becomes an honorary member of the Laramie clan. The night before the race, a festival is held in [[Laramie Village]]. Although it is mainly entered by Trainers and one of their Pokémon, apparently Pokémon are allowed to enter as couples without a Trainer as well.

The race starts on a straight road. After this, an uphill climb over a steep hill follows. On the other side of the hill, the course goes down. The course continues over a set of rocks in a pond. The Pokémon either have to jump over the rocks or cross the pond over the water. Afterwards, the course goes downhill again, but this time there are plates of Pokémon food located on rocks to distract the Pokémon. Once the participants have passed this section, it's a straight road to the finish line.

In ''[[EP033|The Flame Pokémon-athon!]]'', {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} met [[Lara Laramie]], who told them about the race. Lara was going to enter, but at the festival she broke her arm. Seeing potential in Ash, she had him replace her at the race. Although Ash received strong competition from [[Dario]], he managed to win.

With his victory at the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup, Trip has earned the privilege of battling Alder, the Champion of the Unova region! He and his Serperior have a clever strategy against Alder’s Bouffalant—but Alder’s experience and skill are overwhelming, and Trip is defeated. Some sage advice from Alder resonates with the young Trainer, though, and as he says goodbye to our heroes, he seems much calmer and happier as a result.

Ash, Iris, Cilan, and Dawn are still marveling at this surprising change when they encounter a young and rather frantic Trainer named Cameron, who hopes to be the first one in line for the Junior Cup! Ash has to tell him that he’s too late, and after a moment of frustration, Cameron and his Riolu dash off in search of Alder’s autograph.

Our heroes head back to Cynthia’s house, where Dawn tells them it’s almost time for her to go. She and Piplup are headed to the Johto region to participate in the famed Wallace Cup Contest, and they’re planning to draw on their experiences in Unova for some exciting new Contest moves. But before she leaves, Ash challenges Dawn to a battle! He chooses Pikachu, of course, and she calls on her Quilava. The two seem evenly matched, battling back and forth with some surprising strategies, and finally Cynthia declares the battle a draw. She compliments the skill of both Trainers and the many things they’ve learned on their journeys, and Ash and Dawn are excited to get such praise from a Champion!

They say their goodbyes, and just as Dawn’s plane is taking off for Blackthorn City, the frantic Cameron shows up again—just barely missing the flight. This turns out to be a good thing, though, because he intends to compete in the Unova League—which is not, in fact, being held in the Johto region. He proudly shows off his badge case, with its seven shiny Gym badges, and has a moment of panic when Ash points out that he’s missing one! Cameron decides to challenge the nearest Gym so he can get his eighth badge as quickly as possible, and he’s about to head off to Humilau City when Ash asks if he can tag along to watch the battle!

Meanwhile, Team Rocket’s Dr. Zager has been analyzing Meloetta’s song and gathering data from it, while Jessie and James are preparing to enter a mysterious underwater ruin as Meowth monitors them from a submarine. What could they be up to?

==Plot==
The episode begins with a flashback to the second third-round match in the [[Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup]], when {{Ash}} and {{an|Iris}} battled with their {{AP|Krokorok|Krookodile}} and {{TP|Iris|Dragonite}}, respectively. The battle was initially in Iris's favor because Dragonite was finally listening to her, but when Krokorok evolved and learned {{m|Dragon Claw}}, Dragonite rampaged until Krookodile took him down. Ash then battled Trip and his {{TP|Trip|Serperior}} with his {{TP|Ash|Pignite}}, but despite his best efforts, he lost. Trip has won the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup and is allowed to have the chance to battle [[Alder]]. The battle between Alder's {{p|Bouffalant}} and Trip's Serperior begins with {{m|Solar Beam}}!

Alder tells Bouffalant to rush toward Serperior, but Solar Beam is dispelled upon striking Bouffalant. Trip states that Bouffalant's Ability is {{a|Sap Sipper}}, and Cilan wonders why he used a {{type|Grass}} move when he knew it would not work on Bouffalant. Alder confirms the Ability and states that Grass-type attacks increase {{stat|attack}} power instead of doing damage. Alder goes on to say that Bouffalant is unstoppable at this point, but Trip claims he will prove him wrong and that he is more powerful than Alder. Alder tells him to take his best shot to prove it.

Frustrated, Trip orders {{m|Dragon Tail}}, which hits Bouffalant's afro, but it is once again unfazed. Alder tells Trip to show him what else he has got. Serperior uses {{m|Leer}} to lower Bouffalant's defense, then jumps into the air and attacks with Dragon Tail. In his mind, Trip states that his strategy was to purposely activate Sap Sipper so that Alder and Bouffalant would let their guard down. Though Serperior is airborne, Dragon Tail strategically hits Bouffalant's unprotected underside, knocking it away. However Bouffalant lands on its feet, surprisingly unscathed by the attacks. Alder commends the power, speed, and strategy Trip used, but notes that though they would take out a normal Pokémon, Trip is fighting a champion. Alder orders {{m|Head Charge}} and Bouffalant charges forward. Trip desperately tells Serperior to dodge, but Serperior is struck and knocked out, giving Alder the win.

Dawn notes that Alder fights differently from [[Cynthia]], and Cilan says he has a bold and aggressive style. Alder congratulates his Bouffalant as it happily licks his face. Trip approaches Alder to ask what he did wrong for Alder to beat him so easily, and the champion replies that he had not done anything. Alder asks a confused Trip if he has any respect for him at all, and that he needs to think about what he has learned. Alder then asks him if he cares for Serperior. Trip is surprised, but before he can respond, Alder tells him that Serperior obviously cares very much for him and that he needs to feel that bond. Trip replies that he does, and Alder responds that that is probably where his strength lies. Trip asks Alder if they can battle next time they meet, and Alder replies that he would love to.

Freddy the Scoop announces the end of the tournament, and [[Georgia]] tells Iris that she is going to train harder to defeat Dragonite. [[Burgundy]] tells Cilan that she was glad to see that they both lost, and that she would not miss a chance to see Cilan lose. Dawn and Ash spot Trip, so {{AP|Pikachu}} and Ash rush forward. Ash says that Alder was amazing, and Trip agrees, adding that he and Ash will meet again at the [[Unova League]]. Iris notes that Trip seems different, and Cilan comments that he is sure to come back stronger.

After Ash promises to train harder, {{p|Meloetta}} appears, looking happy. She disappears when a boy and a Pokémon rush to the scene, the boy introducing himself as {{un|Cameron}}. He exclaims that they are glad they were not the first ones here, then becomes fascinated with Ash's Pikachu. He tries to identify it with his Pokédex, but ends up pulling out a television remote instead before grabbing the correct device. Ash asks if he has never seen a Pikachu before, and Iris wonders what Cameron's Pokémon is until Dawn identifies it as {{TP|Cameron|Riolu|Lucario}}.

Cameron is disappointed that he is not the first to arrive for the Junior Cup, which he thinks starts the next day. Ash tells him that it is already over, and the group shows him their entry prizes. He becomes even more disappointed, lamenting that this sort of thing happens to him quite often. He realizes that Alder must still be around and rushes to go find him and get his autograph. As Cameron rushes into the arena, a camera hovers behind a bush, watching the group. It belongs to {{TRT}}, who are tracking Meloetta. {{MTR}} pilots a submarine through the opening of an underwater tunnel that [[Jessie]] and [[James]] have managed to open.

Ash and his friends are seen arriving at Cynthia's house, and Meloetta sings towards the sea. Iris wonders why, and Cilan suggests that the sea is its home. The camera continues to watch them and record data on Meloetta. Dawn says that it is time for her and {{TP|Dawn|Piplup}} to be on their way, and are heading to the [[Wallace Cup]] in [[Johto]]. Before she leaves, Ash challenges her to a battle, which she accepts. Ash decides to use Pikachu, and Piplup want to battle, but Dawn instead sends out {{TP|Dawn|Quilava}}, as Pikachu's attacks would be super effective against Piplup. Ash starts out with Pikachu's {{m|Quick Attack}}, and Quilava responds with a {{m|Swift}} and {{m|Flame Wheel}}, both of which Pikachu dodges. Quilava counters Pikachu's {{m|Electro Ball}} with a {{m|Flamethrower}}, and Iris notes how tense the battle is. Cilan says it must be because they know each other so well.

Quilava uses {{m|Smokescreen}}, which Pikachu clears with {{m|Thunderbolt}}. Ash has Pikachu use {{m|Iron Tail}}, but Quilava's Flamethrower counters it and lands a hit. Cilan comments that he has never seen somebody use Flamethrower like that, and the two continue to battle as Cynthia explains how each Pokémon and Trainer is using their journey's experience to battle. Ash has Pikachu use Quick Attack again, which collides with Quilava's Flame Wheel. In the aftermath, Cynthia calls the battle a draw, as neither Trainer looked to be winning.

The friends say goodbye before Dawn boards her flight. Dawn and Ash both wish each other good luck in the Contest and Unova League, respectively. Dawn hopes Iris and Dragonite grow closer and promises to tell them how she does in the Contest. She thanks Cynthia for her help and hopes to see her back in [[Sinnoh]]. As Dawn is saying goodbye to Meloetta, Oshawott pops out if its ball and confronts Piplup. The two angrily stare at each other at first, but break down and hug. Meloetta sings as the plane departs with Dawn and Piplup. Soon afterward, Cameron appears and says that he was supposed to be on that flight. He thinks that the Unova League was to be held in Johto and comments on having all seven badges, but Ash tells him its location had not yet been announced and that he actually needs eight. Cameron thinks Ash is joking, and suggests that the last slot in the case is for the winner's badge at the League. Cilan, a Gym leader himself, says he has never heard of such a thing, much to Cameron's dismay. Cameron decides to challenge the nearest Gym Leader, and the episode ends with Ash asking to go along and watch.
