==Blurb==

Our heroes discover an island on which the Pidgey population—long protected by environmental regulation and free from predators—has grown to unusually stout proportions and virtually abandoned any desire for flight. There Ash and friends find one Pidgey, however, in which the desire to soar through the heavens burns more fiercely than even in Pidgey from beyond this island. Anxious to see this Pidgey achieve its dreams, the young trainers join with the Pidgey's trainer and follow the Pokémon in a jet-assisted hot air balloon, tracking its flight as the Pidgey climbs higher into the stratosphere than any Pokémon in history.

==Plot==
{{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} set off exploring the first island of the [[Whirl Cup]] for a while. {{an|Misty}} spots four {{p|Corsola}} and starts going off with her little speech about being the best {{t|Water}} [[Pokémon Trainer]] there is. Although she wants a Corsola, she can't get one because she doesn't have a boat. A man comes by and says it would be impossible either way, pointing out the {{m|whirlpool}}s all around. He says he's [[Wilbur]], one of the people who live on the island. He invites them over to his place, which is across a river. As they get to the bridge (a rope bridge), no one really wants to go. Misty goes on first for some reason and everyone follows. A wind begins to blow and it spins the bridge around and throws them to the other side. Afterward, Wilbur calls out and a flock of {{p|Pidgey}} come towards him. The Pidgey don't look normal, they look chubbier. {{TRT}} scopes them out from above, seeing that there could be another good catch for the day.

When they reach Wilbur's house, another Pidgey soars by them and lands on the roof. Wilbur says that's his special Pidgey, [[Orville]]. When they come inside, there's a painting on the wall with a few Pidgey flying towards the sun. Wilbur explains that the other Pidgey are overweight, he really doesn't have a clue why. They call up {{an|Professor Oak}} and he explains that it's probably just their eating habit.

Later Wilbur starts to explain about Orville. A while ago when Orville was still a fledgling, he really got interested in that painting. It also set his aim to {{m|fly}} to the sun, which Wilbur seemed to understand. So he decided to train Orville to fly, which started off to be a good start then improved. One day while Wilbur was [[Pokémon training]] with Orville, he decided to hang-glide towards the ocean and see if Orville was capable. Orville managed for the first few minutes but couldn't keep up and started to lag down towards a whirlpool. Orville then noticed the sun, which reminded him of the painting and soon Orville was able to fly back up and with ease.

Team Rocket, overhearing this, devised a plan that could get them both Orville and {{AP|Pikachu}}. After Wilbur was done, Team Rocket arrived in disguised. They made a proposal that they could help Orville reach his goal, no charge, and they could monitor him from the [[Transportation in the Pokémon world|balloon]]. The deal seemed to be too good to pass up so Wilbur agreed. Later that night, {{MTR}} came over to where Orville was sleeping and started to talk with him, giving him a headset so that they could get communication during the flight tomorrow.

The next day, everyone went inside the balloon and began the ascent. [[James]] activated the rocket boosters and they went high very fast. After the short ascent, Orville took off, going upwards. Meowth made relay conversations during the whole time. While they were watching Pidgey, Ash seemed to notice that he was going for something, a flock of {{p|Spearow}}! Orville went through them still going upwards and the Spearow started to give the chase, but they couldn't catch up to him. Then a {{p|Fearow}} took charge and started to chase after Orville. Seeing that this might cause Orville to fall if he would be attacked, Ash had Pikachu give it a {{m|Thunderbolt}}.

Soon they were pretty high up, everyone had to put on oxygen masks as they watched Orville make his way farther up. Meowth continued the conversation with Orville. Soon they were so high up that even Pikachu and {{TP|Misty|Togepi}} who didn't need the masks needed them. Then they saw that Orville had reached an altitude so high, he was growing frost all over. Despite this, Orville kept aiming for the sun. Orville kept thinking as he went and then decided, it was over, he done it. Orville went down for a fast dive towards the ground then finally met altitude with the balloon. Everything looked alright, except for the fact that Orville went through the balloon to break the fall. The balloon started to descend slowly and Orville was in dire need of oxygen, so Meowth grabbed a mask and put it on Orville, and he soon woke up. Except now the hole got bigger and they were plunging towards the ground. The other Pidgey on the ground noticed that the balloon was falling fast. They all started to gather up under the balloon and started jumping up as if they were trying to fly. They managed to {{m|headbutt}} the basket, breaking the fall.

Soon everything was alright for Wilbur and Orville. Orville soon became a hero to the other Pidgey. Meanwhile one of the rocket boosters started off automatically, sending Team Rocket blasting off. The gang said their goodbyes and headed off to the next town.

Team Rocket had crashed onto a cliff tree and are hanging. {{TP|Jessie|Wobbuffet}} comes out from one of the brush but they wonder where Meowth is. Meowth, sitting on the top branch, was talking to Orville about the moon and maybe he should aim for that.

Georgia first appeared in ''[[BW033|Iris and Excadrill Against the Dragon Buster!]]'' where she challenged {{an|Iris}} to a battle. She referred to herself as a Dragon Buster, seeking out and defeating Dragon Masters. She also wished to battle those from the [[Village of Dragons]] because she suffered a terrible loss against a {{pkmn|Trainer}} while there. Iris chose to use {{TP|Iris|Axew}} for the battle while Georgia chose her {{p|Beartic}}. She thought very little of Axew from the start as he was not a "big dragon". Her {{TP|Georgia|Beartic}} easily defeated Axew and was disappointed that the battle was so easy. She then demanded Iris to bring out her next Dragon Pokémon to which {{an|Cilan}} explained that she had no other. Once again, Georgia taunted Iris saying that she isn't a real Dragon Master if all she has is one Dragon-type. This led Iris to take a risk and call out on her {{TP|Iris|Excadrill}} to finish the job. But as usual, Excadrill refused to battle. Georgia made the first move which caused Excadrill to show his face and begin to battle, which is what Iris hoped for. Though because Excadrill did not trust Iris, Georgia defeated her once again.

The next day Georgia helped herself to the group's breakfast while they were off watching Excadrill train. She was then challenged by Iris to a rematch. With Excadrill now trusting his Trainer once more and with the use of a newly learned {{m|Focus Blast}}, the battle resulted in a draw. Georgia didn't consider the draw a real loss as Excadrill was not a {{type|Dragon}}. She took her leave after telling Cilan to make her a better meal the next time they were to meet.

She reappeared in ''[[BW039|Reunion Battles In Nimbasa!]]'', where she entered and advanced to the second round of the Club Battle by defeating {{un|Sylvester}}'s {{p|Joltik}}. In the [[BW040|next episode]], she is selected to go up against {{Ash}}. She was also revealed to have a {{p|Pawniard}}, and she used it to begin the battle against his {{AP|Snivy}}. Although the battle was hard fought, Snivy was able to knock out Pawniard eliminating Georgia from the Club Battle. Georgia, however, blamed her loss on the battlefield's terrain, which caused Pawniard's arms to become stuck.

When Iris won the Club Battle, Georgia gained some respect for her, telling her to continue to work toward becoming a Dragon Master or otherwise it'll make her look bad to be her rival.

Georgia appeared again in ''[[BW070|The Clubsplosion Begins!]]'' to participate in another tournament, called the [[Clubsplosion]]. She was particularly eager to battle Iris in the tournament expecting her to enter with a new Dragon-type. When it was revealed Iris chose Excadrill for the Clubsplosion she was furious with her. Her first opponent was [[Gail]] whom she battled against in ''[[BW071|Search for the Clubultimate!]]''. Gail used a Dragon-type, {{p|Druddigon}}, as well which put Georgia in a good mood. Quickly, her {{p|Bisharp}}, which she had since evolved from Pawniard took out the Cave Pokémon advancing her to the second round. In ''[[BW072|A Clubsplosion of Excitement!]]'', her second opponent was revealed to be {{an|Bianca}}. However she lost to her rather quickly after two {{m|Flamethrower}}s from {{TP|Bianca|Emboar}} roasted Bisharp. Still the loss did not appear to upset her too much and she did not count it as a real one because Emboar is not a Dragon type.

Georgia appeared in ''[[BW081|Crisis at Ferroseed Research!]]'' where it was revealed that she owned a {{p|Vanilluxe}} which became attracted to Iris's Axew, much to her dislike. She was on her way to the [[Ferroseed Research Institute]] to have Vanilluxe exposed to the special moss said to enhance abilities. At the lab Vanilluxe ran away from her in order to chase Axew. When the {{p|Ferroseed}} at the laboratory got out of control and started generating electric moss that grew rapidly, she had her Beartic get rid of the electric moss using its Ice-type moves. Once the Ferroseed were brought under control, she took back her Vanilluxe and went on her way.

She appeared again in ''[[BW090|Jostling for the Junior Cup!]]'' in the [[Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup]] when she battled with her Beartic against Iris's {{TP|Iris|Dragonite}}, but despite having the type advantage she lost and was eliminated from the tournament. She spent the rest of the tournament on the sidelines, talking with [[Burgundy]].

She appeared briefly in ''[[BW108|A Unova League Evolution!]]'' in Ash's flashback about his travel in [[Unova]].

Georgia appears prominently in the ending ''[[Let's Join Hands]]'' and makes a cameo appearance in the credits of ''[[M16|Genesect and the Legend Awakened]]''.

==Character==
Like most rivals, Georgia has a lot of confidence in herself, but can also be immature. She acts like a poor loser, as all four times her Pokémon were defeated (which of one was a tie), she blamed it on something else; the tie with Excadrill and loss against Emboar didn't count as they weren't Dragon-type Pokémon, Pawniard's loss against Snivy was because of the state of the terrain, and Beartic's loss against Dragonite was due to the latter's own power, and not Iris's, in her opinion. At times she has been shown to be quite rude, as when she ate the group's breakfast and told them to just make more.

Georgia tends to get in skirmishes with Iris, but will get frustrated if Iris begins to get the better of her. She hated it when Iris used [[Luke's Zorua]] to {{a|Illusion|transform}} into her in order to make fun of her during the Club Battle tournament and lashed out at her each time. Despite this, she seems to have a somewhat forgiving attitude towards {{an|Bianca}} who constantly mistook her for Zorua. At the end of the Club Battle tournament, Georgia has gained some actual respect for Iris and encourages her to become a Dragon Master, showing that she expects her rivals to be strong. This is especially shown during the Clubsplosion arc where she often told Iris to do her best in multiple matches and even appeared sad when she lost to [[Montgomery]]. She also expresses disappointment whenever Iris fails to live up to the strength that she expects of her. Georgia appears to have a mutual dislike of [[Burgundy]], showcased particularly during the Junior Cup, as her snide comments tend to get the better of the latter.

Pawniard proved to be an extremely powerful Pokémon against her opponent, [[Ash's Snivy]]. Not only was she able to move so quick that she cut up Snivy's {{m|Leaf Storm}} but was also immune to Snivy's {{m|Attract}} due to the fact both were female. Soon Snivy started to gain the upper hand, but Pawniard turned things around quickly and put Snivy on the defensive before attempting to finish her in one-hit with Guillotine. However, Snivy was able to fight back, and managed to get both of Pawniard's needle-like arms caught in the ground. Now with no defense, Snivy was able to make a direct hit with Leaf Storm, knocking Pawniard out, leading to Georgia's elimination from the tournament.

Pawniard was shown to have evolved into a Bisharp in ''[[BW071|Search for the Clubultimate!]]'' during Georgia's [[Clubsplosion]] tournament battle against Gail and her {{p|Druddigon}}. She easily blocked Druddigon's {{m|Dragon Claw}} and dodged its {{m|Dragon Tail}} before striking back with Metal Sound and Iron Head, defeating the Cave Pokémon. In ''[[BW072|A Clubsplosion of Excitement!]]'', she battled [[Bianca's Emboar]] and lost, eliminating Georgia from the tournament.

It [[Evolution|evolves]] from {{p|Kabuto}} starting at [[level]] 40, after it is revived from a [[Dome and Helix Fossils|Dome Fossil]].

==Biology==
With a body closely resembling a living skeleton, Kabutops has a half-moon, disc shaped head, with two small, forward facing eyes. Its body has a light gray chest plate with a brown shell resembling a visible backbone, containing three ribs protruding on each side and a thick pointed tail. It does not have hands, but large, sharp, gray scythes. Its legs are brown and thin, leading into small feet with two large gray claws.

Kabutops can tuck in its shell to help it swim extremely fast in its {{DL|List of Pokémon by habitat|Sea Pokémon|ocean home}}, where it can catch prey. It uses its sharp scythes to cut enemies and drink their internal fluids. Before it went extinct, it was in the process of evolving into a land dweller in order to catch prey that had already evolved into land dwelling species. As seen in [[EP046|the anime]], Kabutops greatly prefer to live in seclusion, and will be become very hostile when provoked.

Kabutops's first true appearance is in ''[[EP046|Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon]]''. It was one of the Fossil Pokémon that was awakened by a dynamite explosion in [[Grampa Canyon]].

A {{pkmn2|giant}} Kabutops also appeared in ''[[M05|Pokémon Heroes]]''. [[Oakley]] used ancient DNA to resurrect a Kabutops and an {{p|Aerodactyl}} to chase after {{Ash}} and {{p|Latias}}. In the English dub, they were once used by an evil [[Pokémon Trainer]] to torment the civilians of [[Alto Mare]], but were drowned when a {{p|Latios}} brought water to the city. They have blank, yellow-tinted eyes with no pupils and are lined with a thick black outline.

A Kabutops escaped the Oreburgh museum in ''[[DP017|Wild in the Streets!]]''.

Another one appeared in ''[[DP108|Dealing With Defensive Types!]]'' at the [[Canalave Gym]].

Similarly to how {{p|Kabuto}} is based on {{wp|horseshoe crab}}s, it resembles {{wp|eurypterid}}s, prehistoric arthropods which hunted in seas and rivers and are believed to have been related to modern horseshoe crabs. The large head is also identical to the cephalon in {{wp|trilobite}}s and the spines down the back resemble thoracic sections in trilobites, though the scythes and predatory nature much more closely resemble eurypterids. Because of these cross-similarities, it may also be based on the {{wp|Cheirurus}} genus of trilobites.

Given that Chigorasu has short arms and a large head with strong jaws, it has more in common with ''Tyrannosaurus'' in terms of appearance than with ''Allosaurus''. So I noticed that Noivern has the honor of being the first dual-typed Pokémon to have Flying as its primary type. And I don't know if Bulbapedia could give any explanation-by-reference for typing, so I thought I'd just ask this: So soundwaves are vibrations in the air, and air is associated with the Flying-type. This made me realize that it is actually pretty strange that sound is actually associated with the Normal-type (Hyper Voice, Exploud). So maybe the designers also noticed this and now want sound to be part of the Flying-type. This would explain why Noivern has Flying as its primary type, as he is more about sound than about being Dragon. Think about it: if I say 'Noivern!', would the first thing you'd say be 'sound' or 'Dragon'? So Noivern is primary the 'Sound-type' which is the 'Flying-type', which then is his primary type! Could we add this reference for its type with these few words: 'Noivern could have Flying as its primary type, because soundwaves are associated with air and Noivern's primary characteristic is sound above being Dragon.'?
