Dragonite (Japanese: カイリュー Kairyu) is a dual-type pseudo-legendary Pokémon.

It evolves from Dragonair starting at level 55. It is the final form of Dratini.

Biology
Physiology
Despite being bulky, Dragonite are incredibly agile and fast. Unlike its pre-evolutions, they are orange and possess arms and legs, all of which are equipped with three claws. It retains the horn on its forehead that it possessed as a Dragonair, however it is now colored orange like most of Dragonite's body. They resemble bipedal European dragons, and each one has a pair of little green-colored wings that can increase in size while flying. They have a taller stature than most humans. Dragonite also possess S-shaped yellow antennae and a cream-colored, striated underbelly.
Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Dragonite are very strong Pokémon. When they become particularly angry, they may go on a Outrage, and will be unable to control their aggression for some time. They are also able to use many elemental attacks such as Thunder, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Water Pulse, and the elemental punches. The speed of their flight is so immense they are able to circle the globe in sixteen hours, traveling roughly 1,556 mph, or about three times the speed of an average airplane. Their antennae are able to produce vicious Thunder attacks.

Behavior
Dragonite have a kindhearted disposition and are said to have human-like intelligence. They have been said to save people from drowning and lead ships that have been trapped in storms to safety. If angered, however, they are capable of going on uncontrollable rampages with devastating results.

Habitat
Dragonite are very rare in the wild, if found at all. People have claimed that there is an island somewhere that only Dragonite inhabit.
Major appearances
In the anime, Dragonite seemed to be an unknown Pokémon before Mystery at the Lighthouse, Bill is seen looking at the Pokémon and calling it unknown. That Dragonite was a giant Pokémon.

A Drake belonging to Drake was used to battle Ash in Hello Pummello and Enter the Dragonite.

Lance used his Dragonite to defeat the Red Gyarados in Rage of Innocence. Lance's Dragonite appeared again during The Scuffle of Legends.

A Dragonite that belonged to the original Gym Leader of the Blackthorn Gym appeared in Fangs For Nothing. This Dragonite went on a rampage when Team Rocket tried to steal a sacred bowl of fire in the following episode. It calmed down later on in that episode.

Minor appearances
The first time that Dragonite actually made an appearance was during Mewtwo Strikes Back. It delivered an invitation to Ash and friends to come to New Island.

In the manga
In Pokémon Adventures, a wild Dragonite first appears in 2, where Red searches for an HM03, containing the move Surf, knowing that his rival Blue had obtained it already. After a tough fight during which it showed great resilience taking Pika's electric attacks to no effect, and withstanding a Double-Edge from Lax, it was eventually beaten when Misty arrived with her Gyarados, Gyara. Gyara then was traded for Red's Krabby, as Dragonite destroyed the HM and it was the only Pokémon which knew the move.

Two years later, Lance, leader of the Elite Four, is shown to have an even stronger Dragonite, one whose Multiscale that it was able to stay in a vat of molten lava for an extended period of time, and none of Yellow's weak attacks had any effect. It was very devoted to Lance's cause of exterminating the human race in order to provide good habitats for Pokémon.

Presumably, this same Dragonite rampaged at the Pokéathlon stadium in the HeartGold & SoulSilver, only to be eventually defeated by Gold's Togepi.
Trivia
* Lance's Dragonite knows Barrier in the Generation I games, although Dragonite cannot legitimately learn this move.
** Lance also has three Dragonite below level 55 during Generation II. This is seen again in the Generation IV remakes HeartGold and SoulSilver.
* Dragonite is able to learn almost every HM move in the series. As of Generation V, the only HM move it cannot learn is Rock Climb.
* Dragonite is "smaller" than its pre-evolution, Dragonair. The same thing happens to Gengar, Bellossom, and Porygon2.
** However, when you consider that Dragonite's size measurement refers to its standing height while Dragonair's seems to refer to its length, the two are probably about the same size from nose to tail tip. Dragonite has simply bulked up and sprouted limbs through evolution.
* Dragonite has the highest Attack of all Generation I Pokémon at 134.
* Dragonite has a white ridge down its back in both its Generation I back sprite and Red and Green. This ridge was removed in later generations.
** Dragonite also gained a horn after the Generation I games.
*Despite not having a horn in it's Generation I sprites, it can still learn Horn Drill through 07
**This may be due to the fact that it's pre-evolutionary form Dragonair has a horn in it's Generation I sprite.
*In Generation I, Dragonite cannot learn the moves Fly or Wing Attack despite having strong, sizable wings and being able to learn them in later Generations.
* Dragonite and its evolution family are the only Dragon-type Pokémon in Generation I.
* Dragonite is one of only two non-legendary non-Water Pokémon able to learn Dive. The other is Tsunbear.
** Both are found in the same location in Black and White
* Dragonite is the only Dragon Pokémon in the List of Pokémon by color.
* In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Dragonite states that it is the guardian of the sea, something Lugia is called.
** Coincidentally, they also share a unique Multiscale.
* Despite its Pokédex entries stating that it can circle the globe in just 16 hours, Speed is its lowest stat.
** Dragonite can learn ExtremeSpeed though.
* Dragonite is the only Pokémon to learn both Hurricane and Thunder - two similar moves.

Origin
Dragonite resembles Japanese Sea-dragons, or European dragons, or fairy dragons; its description as the "guardian of the sea" may also suggest it has elements similar to the Chinese dragon. Similar-looking Japanese dragons exists in art done by Utagawa Kuniyoshi.
Name origin
Dragonite's name appears to be a combination of dragon and knight, "ignite" since it learns several Fire-type moves, or night. It could also refer to draconite, a mythical stone of dragons. Its Japanese name is a combination of 海 kai, ocean, or 破壊 hakai, destruction, and 竜 ryū, dragon.
The Nintendo 3DS (Japanese: ニンテンド３ＤＳ Nintendo 3DS) is Nintendo's upcoming history of video game consoles (eighth generation) handheld game console.

Announced in a March 23, 2010 press release, the Nintendo 3DS is said to be fully backwards-compatible with all Nintendo DS games. Its revolutionary feature, however, is that it will be able to display 3D graphics that will appear to move in space depending on the direction that the system is facing, using a technique called parallax barrier.

More details on the 3DS were revealed at E3 in 2010, with graphics reminiscent of a Nintendo GameCube game being shown. The 3DS will, as expected, be fully compatible with Nintendo DS games, as well as its own games, while the 3D depth-sensing features will be able to be adjusted at-will using a slider on the right side of the top screen. The top screen will be slightly wider than the bottom, with a 5:3 aspect ratio, while the system itself will feature a control stick dubbed the "Circle Pad", in addition to the normal D-pad featured on all prior handhelds. The 3DS will also be fully compatible with DSi-only features, like the ones in Black and White. Pokémon Black and White was also specially enhanced for the 3DS.<!--Note: mostly copy-paste from PDF right now-->
Boy with the hat.
The boy with the hat looks similar to the main character in Black & White. same color shirt(both the light and dark blue), same style pants, but a slightly different color. Their hats are both orange. Hair is pretty similar. Their eye colors and shoes are different though. Just thought I'd share this.--IlikeBacon16 05:09, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
