The article states that

ever since the distinction between physical and special were no longer based on types, most moves that make contact are physical.

Post-Gen IV, Damage dealing for moves that make contact are always calculated using the attacking Pokémon's Attack and the defending Pokémon's Defense.

This implies that special moves that make contact (according to the Japanese wiki page these are Trump Card, Grass Knot, Wring Out and Petal Dance) deliver physical damage despite having a special type. == Pokémon-related stuff because this is Bulbapedia ==

I've been a fan of Pokémon games since the beginning, and I'm more than a little frustrated at Nintendo's continual failed attempts to make a proper 3D console Pokémon game in the style of the portable games (with proper wild Pokémon encounters etc) despite the fact that it'd sell millions. >_> In fact Nintendo as a whole is failing recently. Sigh.

I like the TCG as well but don't really play that much (I don't know that many people in real life who would play it with me!), and Apprentice falls well short in simulating the feel of actually playing a tabletop TCG in real life. I'm closely watching the progress of other TCG simulators currently in development. I'd also love it if Nintendo released another handheld/console Pokémon card game but sadly it seems unlikely (see above).

Used to watch the anime but have moved on since.
What the name of Kanto is in Japan is irrelevant to the article title and its first word, we're using US names... ._.

Of course, correct me if I'm wrong (this is a wiki XD), but I'm fairly sure...
*Hyperworm 09:28, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)

: Of course you don't see a macron. Do you see macrons in Tōkyō, Kyōto, Tōkaidō or Hokkaidō? Of course not, English just drops them. It's fairly common on Wikipedia to put the macrons back where the English name would otherwise be identical to Hepburn romanisation, and I agree (and if you can't read the katakana, I assure you, the long vowel is there) -- it reduces clutter. - 刘 (劉) 振霖 10:31, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
:: I can read the katakana, and I'm all for writing Japanese words so they strictly conform to Hepburn romanisation, which is why I added "Kantō" after カントー. However, I'm just as much for writing English words so they strictly conform to how the official people decided they should be written in English. As you said yourself, English drops macrons, and so IMHO if we're using the English names, we should copy how they're officially written in the US character-for-character and leave the macrons out. If we're actually talking about the Japanese version of the English Kanto (no macron), which is カントー, then for the benefit of non-Japanese-speakers I would actually romanize the name (which involves macrons) rather than typing only the true Japanese one. ._.
:: I'm new to wikis, however, and if it's standard practice to add macrons to English words that are derived from Japanese words, then fair enough... I wasn't aware, and I don't think it's a good idea myself. I'll leave it up to you whether to edit it or not.
:: It's a trifling point anyway. I should probably actually submit some decent content to Bulbapedia rather than just fixing typos, sorry for taking up your time with this. ._.
Of course, correct me if I'm wrong (this is a wiki XD), but I'm fairly sure...
If we're actually talking about the Japanese version of the English Kanto (no macron), which is カントー, then for the benefit of non-Japanese-speakers I would actually romanize the name (which involves macrons) rather than typing the English one.
I should probably actually submit some decent content to Bulbapedia rather than just fixing typos, sorry for taking up your time with this. ._.

Generation I
In Generation I, Pokémon Yellow introduced a prototype version of the Happiness value that would later be used in future generations. Pikachu will follow your main character throughout the game. You can turn and look at Pikachu at any time to gauge it's loyalty to you. Its expression will range from indifference to estatic depending on how happy it is. At it's peak, Pikachu will jump up and down.

Pikachu's Happiness level will rise when it gains a level.

It will drop when it is put into Bill's PC, or faints. Trading it will reset it's Happiness rating.

It is relatively easy to make Pikachu happy compared to Pokémon in future generations.

Happiness is not recorded for any other Pokémon in Generation I, aside from Pokémon Yellow's starter Pikachu.

As far as gameplay goes, Pikachu's Happiness only truly affects whether or not the player can aquire a Bulbasaur in Cerulean City.

Generation II
Pending.
Generation III
Happiness in Generation III is a value between 0 and 255. Wild Pokémon have their own base happiness, which is typically 70 (about 27%) for non-legendary first stage Pokémon, but not always. If a Pokémon hatches from an egg, its initial happiness ignores the base happiness value and is set to 120 (about 47%). When a Pokémon is still in its egg, its happiness value is ignored (as there are no aspects in the game that apply happiness to eggs) and the happiness value is used as a decrementing step value that triggers the egg hatch when it reaches zero.

Happiness evolutions occur when happiness reaches 220 (about 86%).

Happiness is modified in the following ways:
* Gaining a level (+2)
* Using Soothe Bell (+1 for each other event)
* Walking 256 steps (+1)
* Stat modifiers (+2)
* Fire/Leaf: Grooming (+3)
* Emerald only: Certain berries (+5)

<!--
If someone puts in some events I don't know about I'll check the value if you can't find it.
PS: Fainting does not modify happiness.
Brock (Japanese: タケシ Takeshi) in the anime is a Pokémon Breeder who is currently travelling with Ash, May, and Max through the Hoenn region. His Japanese seiyu is うえだ　ゆうじ Yūji Ueda, and his English voice actor is Eric Stuart. His Japanese name can be taken to mean "strength" (武), and his English name literally means "badger" but was selected because it sounds like the word "rock". He originally trained Rock-type Pokémon, but has, since the beginning of the Anime, diversified. He makes scrumptious Pokémon food, and he hits on every pretty girl he meets, particularly Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy - both of whom he sings about in the Pokémon Karaokémon song "Two Perfect Girls". He also sings the ending theme タケシのパラダイス Takeshi No Paradaisu ("Brock's Paradise").

He is a domestic, taking care of the tasks of not only grooming his Pokémon, but also those of the kids he travels with. He handles the cooking and the cleaning -- something he is quite used to, being the oldest of ten children.

Brock was also the Gym Leader of Pewter City. Trainers who defeat him receive the Boulder Badge.

His family life deserves another mention, owing to it being most peculiar. The father, Flint, left home to become a great trainer. When he never returned, the mother, Mizuho up and left them, leaving Brock to take care of his siblings by himself (the English version of Showdown in Pewter City has Flint claming she died, although he was clearly lying). It turned out Flint considered himself a failure and was selling rocks at the edge of town. When Brock left to journey with Ash, he left Flint in charge of the Pewter Gym.

Upon his return after journeying through Johto, Brock was dismayed to find that his mother had returned and commandeered the gym, turning the Rock-type haven into a Water-type den. Brock battled her for the honor of Rock-types and won, promising his brother Jiro that he would become Gym Leader someday.

Introduction
Pokémon Colosseum was released on November 21, 2003 in Japan, March 22, 2004 in North America and May 14, 2004 in Europe on the Nintendo GameCube. The game followed the basic stadium style battling found in the Pokémon Stadium games but an extra was included in the form of an RPG which allowed trainers to catch Generation II and Generation III Pokémon in the desolate region of Orre.

In the game, your character was part of an organization called Team Snagem and they created a machine which allowed someone to snag another's Pokémon as if it were wild. Another team, Team Cipher was responisible for darkening several Pokémons' hearts and gave them to trainers. With the help of a young girl named Rui, your character would be able to find the Pokémon whose hearts were sealed and surrounded by a purple aura and use the Snag machine for good purpose and open the Pokémon's heart.
Ho-Oh is catchable in Pokémon Colosseum when trainers have purified all the Shadow Pokémon. Players would then have to use a team of Pokémon from the RPG in the main game's 100 trainer knockout challenge.

Purifying Techiques
Pokémon in the game can be purified in a variety of ways.

* Walking around with shadow Pokémon in your party.
* Rubbing scents on the Pokémon (these can be bought at Agate Village).

About Ho-Oh
Ho-Oh is catchable in Pokémon Colosseum when trainers have purified all the Shadow Pokémon. Players would then have to use a team of Pokémon from the RPG in the main game's 100 trainer knockout challenge.

Purifying Techiques
Pokémon in the game can be purified in a variety of ways.

* Walking around with shadow Pokémon in your party.
* Rubbing scents on the Pokémon.(Can be bought at Agate Village)
* Battling with them and calling out when the Pokémon reaches its hyper state.

Once the bar indicating how open or close the heart is at the point where it says:"The Pokémon's heart is open! Unlock the final lock!", trainers would go to the Agate Village shrine and use its power to restore the Pokémon's heart and removes the move known as Shadow Rush.

After trainers have beaten the game, Pokémon can be traded to all Generation III games provided that its heart is open.

A Pokémon's experience, or EXP. Points (Experience Points) is an indication of how much it has battled. Pokémon gain EXP.
