'''Pokémon: The Johto Journeys''' is the name of the third season of the [[Pokémon anime]]. The 40-episode season showcases the adventures of [[Ash Ketchum|Ash]], [[Misty]], and [[Brock]] in the [[Johto|Johto region]], from [[New Bark Town]] up to [[Goldenrod City]].

It originally aired as part of the 2000-2001 [[Kids' WB!]] Saturday morning line-up. The season began with ''[[EP117|Don't Touch That 'Dile]]'', which originally aired on October 14, 2000, and ended with ''[[EP157|The Fortune Hunters]]'', which originally aired on June 2, 2001.

Johto Journeys marked the beginning of the Johto saga, which is widely considered by fans to be the worst arc of the series, mostly due to its large number of predictable [[filler episode]]s. Johto would continue for two seasons, with [[Johto League Champions]] picking off where Journeys left off. Preceding it was the [[Pokémon: The Adventures in the Orange Islands|Orange Islands filler arc]].

It should be noted that the concept of seasons does not exist in Japan, as the anime is nearly continually produced there, and that Johto Journeys was not considered to be separate from the rest of the seasons of the [[original series]].

Yanmega is a large, dark-green dragonfly. Each of Yanmega's segments have a red spot on it while the last segment has a black thorn on it. Yanmega has two black triangular plates on the back of its thorax and another plate on its head. Yanmega has red and white wings. Yanmega's eyes are red with a "Y" shape in each one. It can also be said that Yanmega has the appearance of a plane.

Mondo's first and only appearance was in the radio drama ''[[It's a White Tomorrow! Team Rocket]]''. This album portrayed one of the regular meetings between Mondo and Jessie, James, and Meowth. Mondo traded his {{P|Ditto}} for Meowth, but the deal did not work out and each Pokémon returned to its original party. After his appearance in the drama, rumours started circulating about him appearing in the [[anime]], but they were proved to be wrong.

Mondo has great admiration for Jessie, James, and Meowth, and has a crush on Jessie. He calls Jessie and James 先輩 ''senpai'' (senior) and practically worships Meowth.

It appears that Mondo is only available to help Jessie, James, and Meowth in the [[Kanto]] region, as they often go without food and supplies while in other regions.

It first appeared in ''[[EP119|A Sappy Ending]]''. In that episode, several Heracross and {{p|Pinsir}} were having a territorial dispute. One of the Heracross followed Ash and his friends as they tried to figure out a solution to the problem. Eventually, Ash captured the Heracross.

Heracross was good in battle, once defeating a powerful {{p|Scizor}}, but it often got distracted by tree sap. It also would try licking the sap from [[Ash's Bulbasaur|Bulbasaur's]] bulb whenever the two were called out at the same time, much to the Pokémon's chagrin.

Heracross didn't stay on Ash's team for very long. It was sent to [[Professor Oak]]'s lab in ''[[EP146|Tricks of the Trade]]'' in exchange for one of [[Ash's Tauros]]. Ash sent Tauros back in the following episode, but Professor Oak informed Ash that he wanted to study Heracross's behavior.

In the Johto League Silver Conference, Ash used it against [[Gary Oak|Gary]]'s {{p|Magmar}} and his [[Gary's Blastoise|Blastoise]]. Heracross defeated Magmar despite the type disadvantage, but lost to Blastoise after one quick launch of its {{m|Hydro Pump}}. After Ash returned from Johto, he left Heracross in Professor Oak's Lab, but he temporally brought it back to his team for his battle with [[Palace Maven Spenser|Spenser]] during the [[Battle Frontier]] saga.
