The '''Super Mario Wiki''' is a collaborative knowledge-base about everything in the Mario universe. It is driven by a fan-based community, and runs on a wiki, meaning any registered user can edit and create articles.

The articles are varying from things of games to items and characters. TV series, movies, and comics are also included. Anyone can sign-up and help edit articles but there is a one week waiting period before users are allowed to edit quite a few articles. This is to help prevent users from being vandals and writing down fanboy/fangirl related junk that doesn't fit.

Sysops as they do here may also assign and make users into Sysops as they see fit. Usually people are newly ranked as Sysops are longtime members and usually a patroller or bureaucrat ranked user and help keep the site cleaned up on a daily basis. They may block users, autoconfirm users, and delete articles as they see fit.

They have a monthly part of the site they update every month for fun called The 'Shroom which allows users to try catching up on what happened on the site or simply look at the fun section.

To get on the S.S. Anne in the [[Pokémon games|games]], players must first obtain an [[S.S. Ticket]] by helping out [[Bill]].

This ship contains many [[Pokémon Trainer]]s, including many [[Gentleman|Gentlemen]] and [[Sailor]]s. In [[Generation III]], in one room on the first floor, a lady will restoring all {{obp|Pokémon|species}} on hand to full health. Before reaching the captain's cabin, {{player|players}} will encounter {{ga|Blue}} and must battle him.

With the rival defeated again, the player will be able to enter the Captain's quarters, where they will find him seasick. By choosing to help him by giving him a backrub, players will be able to get {{HM|01|Cut}}.

Once the captain is healed, the S.S. Anne will sail away the moment player exits the ship. Although it is said to return once a year, none of the games in which it appears have a [[time]] system capable of measuring this, and the ship will not be seen again. The only way in which one can get the ship to remain is by losing a battle and [[black out|blacking out]], thus returning to the [[Pokémon Center]] (or using a [[#Rumors|Generation I glitch]]).

In the [[Pokémon Diamond and Pearl beta|programming code of Diamond and Pearl]], an [[item]] called "S.S. Ticket" has been found. According to its in-bag description, it is a "ticket for the Luxury Liner S.S. Anne," which means that S.S. Anne was possibly meant to reappear in [[Sinnoh]] or that [[Pokémon Diamond and Pearl versions|Diamond and Pearl]] were built off of a heavily modified Generation III game engine.

==Rumors==
In Pokémon {{3v2|Red|Blue|Yellow}}, as well as their remakes {{2v2|FireRed|LeafGreen}}, there is a truck which appears in the [[Vermilion Harbor|S.S. Anne's port]] which serves no evident purpose except as scenery. With scenery being very sparse in the [[Generation I]] games, and this being one of the few sprites with no other purpose than to exist in one spot, fans began speculating that another purpose existed for this truck, and that it could perhaps be moved with {{m|Strength}}. Thus, a popular rumor sprang up that a [[Poké Ball]] containing {{p|Mew}} could be found underneath. [[File:Thetruckreturns.png|thumb|left|250px|The truck, as it appears in {{game|FireRed and LeafGreen|s}}.]] The only flaw with this was that the [[HM]] for {{m|Strength}} could only be obtained after getting {{m|Cut}}, which required the S.S. Anne leaving. Players found ways around this by trading Pokémon knowing Cut to other games which did not have the HM. The rumor was proven false.

Another method to prevent the ship setting sail was to challenge a {{pkmn|Trainer}} after obtaining Cut, and losing the battle on purpose. The {{player}} would be teleported to the last [[Pokémon Center]] visited, and the ship would not leave the dock, making it accessible later in the game when the player had obtained Strength and {{m|Surf}}. However, leaving the ship there wasn't technically necessary, since the [[Generation I]] games have a [[glitch]] that causes the ship to reappear after it has left, with all trainers unbeaten and all [[item|items]] obtainable.[[File:Pokemon Red ReBoard S.S.Anne.png|thumb|right|200px|Surfing on the sailor]]

To perform this glitch, the player must stand one tile above and to the left of the sailor guarding the harbor; take a step right and hit the Start button at the same time, causing the menu to pop up; save and reboot; verify that the player is facing right and without moving, select a {{obp|Pokémon|species}} to Surf and verify that it will be surfing on top of the sailor and walk down to the harbor, where the S.S. Anne sits at the dock.

In the [[Generation III]] remakes of Red and Green, the truck is still present, however, there is actually something of a point to get to it this time around. On its pier, if the player walks down a bit, they can find a {{DL|Status ailment healing item|Lava Cookie}}, normally unavailable until [[Sevii Islands|later in the game]]. This could possibly have been put into the game as a reference to the old rumors. {{fact}}

After the S.S. Anne leaves Vermilion City, it never returns. However, some players spread another rumor about it in the Generation I games; by defeating the [[Elite Four]] 365 times, players would supposedly make the ship return with more powerful opponents on board. This was supported by an NPC in Red and Blue explaining that the ship was a luxury liner for trainers that visited Vermilion once a year. However, there was no way to make time pass in Red and Blue, so this was obviously just a hoax to get people to try something tedious and stupid.

The St. Anne appeared in ''[[EP015|Battle Aboard the St. Anne]]'' and ''[[EP016|Pokémon Shipwreck]]''.

{{Ash}}, [[Misty]] and [[Brock]] boarded the ship after two schoolgirls, who were actually [[Jessie]] and [[James]] in disguise, offered them free tickets. This was part of a [[Team Rocket]] plot to steal the {{obp|Pokémon|species}} of all {{pkmn|Trainer}}s on board. However, Ash and his friends enjoyed the St. Anne, which provided large amounts of food for people on board and allowed [[Pokémon battle]]s below deck. While on board, James was swindled by the [[Magikarp Salesman]] into buying a [[List of Pokémon temporarily owned by Team Rocket#Gyarados|Magikarp]] in a gold-plated [[Poké Ball]], and Ash traded his {{AP|Butterfree}} to a Gentleman for a {{AP|Raticate}}.

Out on the open ocean, Team Rocket, including Jessie, James, {{MTR}}, and a number of [[Team Rocket Grunt]]s began taking the Pokémon of everyone else on board the St. Anne by force. Ash led a counterattack against the Rockets, leading to a large battle and many of the members of Team Rocket being 'blasted off' through the side of the ship.

Afterwards, the St. Anne started taking on water, and the passengers had to be evacuated. Ash delayed evacuating to trade back the Raticate for his Butterfree, and while rushing to escape the St. Anne jerked and knocked out Ash, his friends, and the Rocket trio. When they awoke, the St. Anne was upside down and underwater, balancing on a {{wp|seamount}}.

The two groups fought at first, but Misty took charge and began directing all of them in an emergency escape plan before the ship fell into the depths of the sea floor. Since the ship was upside down, they would need to escape through the thinnest point in its {{wp|hull (watercraft)|hull}}, which Misty knew was in the engine room, having built a model of the ship herself. They made their way through the ship to this point, and then Ash ordered his {{AP|Charmander|Charizard}} to burn a hole in the hull. With the help of {{AP|Squirtle}}, {{TP|Misty|Goldeen}} and {{TP|Misty|Starmie}}, Ash and his friends were able to swim to safety, while Team Rocket nearly drowned since all they had to rely on was James's Magikarp, which could only {{m|Splash}} around on the floor.

Once everyone was off-board, the St. Anne's balance tilted, and it fell off the seamount, down towards the {{wp|abyssal zone|abyss}}, never to be seen again.

In the Yellow Chapter, the S.S. Anne is now used as a transportation system for humans. It was attacked by the [[Team Rocket Elite Trio]] which used a {{p|Slowpoke}} to blow a hole in the ship. *The addition of {{cat|Generation IV Pokémon|107 new Pokémon}}, bringing the total to 493. New evolutions and pre-evolutions abound in this generation, including ones for long-time favorites such as {{p|Electabuzz}} and {{p|Eevee}}.
*The addition of 113 new [[move]]s, bringing the total to 467.
*The addition of 47 new [[Ability|abilities]] (and removal of the unused {{a|Cacophony}}), bringing the total to 123. Many older Pokémon can now have one of two abilities, rather than the single ability they could have in Generation III.

Alterations from Generation III include:

Further additions in Platinum include:
*Another new {{Gdis|Battle Frontier|IV}}, with several different facilities than the one in [[Hoenn]].
*Ability to record and share battles with other players and in the Battle Frontier over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
*Sinnoh Pokédex is expanded, making the total of 210 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex.

Like Generation III, Generation IV introduces a new region disconnected from all previous ones, the [[Sinnoh]] region, found far north of [[Kanto]]. Being that it is so far north, snow can be found on its northern tip, as well as in the mountainous center of the region. Much of the western half of the region is rural, while its east is comparatively urban, in a similarity to the continental area shared by Johto and Kanto, respectively.

====Starter Pokémon====
Though it was initially rumored that the {{t|Grass}}/{{t|Fire}}/{{t|Water}} setup that had been the norm for the past three generations would be replaced with a {{t|Dark}}/{{t|Psychic}}/{{t|Fighting}} trio{{fact}}, these rumors were later proven false. At the beginning of the journey, players must choose from the Grass-type {{p|Turtwig}}, the Fire-type {{p|Chimchar}}, and the Water-type {{p|Piplup}} to defend themselves from a wild {{p|Starly}} in Diamond and Pearl, or be given one of the three by [[Professor Rowan]] directly in Platinum.

Like the other three regions, Sinnoh has its own set of eight Gym Leaders. This set specializes in the same types as Gym Leaders from other regions, though not in the same order. Like always, badges and TMs are given away by defeated Gym Leaders.

==Other Generation IV games==
[[Pokémon Battle Revolution]] features a [[Pokémon Stadium series|Pokémon Stadium]]-like arena for battle, allowing Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver to link to it through wireless communications between the Nintendo DS and Wii, much like previous generations' games would link to {{pkmn|Colosseum}}, [[Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness|XD]], [[Pokémon Stadium (English)|Stadium]], and {{pkmn|Stadium 2}}. Battle Revolution also features online battles with players around the world via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

[[My Pokémon Ranch]] lets players of {{game|Diamond and Pearl|s}} deposit their Pokémon, via wireless communication, to a ranch owned by [[Hayley]], who will also bring Pokémon to the ranch. Players can interact with up to 1,000 of their deposited Pokémon. An update for this game enables support for {{v2|Platinum}}, as well as allowing storage for 500 more Pokémon, however, it has not yet been released to players outside Japan. It is unknown if another update will be released for HeartGold and SoulSilver.

==Trivia==
*Every [[player character]] in all Generation IV games has a [[Wii]] in his/her room, referencing its status as the current Nintendo console during the generation. This is in contrast with [[Generation III]], in which player characters in Hoenn had a [[Nintendo GameCube]], while player characters in Kanto had a [[NES]].
*Generation IV's framerate is downgraded from Generation III: whereas Generation III games ran at 60 frames per second, Generation IV games run at only 30, like Generation I and II do. This is likely to prevent slowdown or crashing due to the 3D models.
*Due to the Generation II remakes, and the inclusion of Kanto in them, Generation IV has the largest number of accessible regions (in the handheld games) of all; [[Generation I]] had only one (Kanto), [[Generation II]] had two (Kanto and Johto), [[Generation III]] had two (Kanto and Hoenn), whereas Generation IV has three (Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh).
**Because Hoenn was not included in Generation IV, its Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Frontier Brains lack the now standard animated battle sprites and close-up headshots. [[Lorelei]] and [[Agatha]], the only important Trainers from another region who are not in Generation IV, also miss out.
* The Japanese font, including its rendering, that is used in the dialogues of the international versions is different from the Japanese versions. This doesn't happen in Generation III, where international versions use the same Japanese font and rendering.
