Team Magma only appears several times, searching for clues on the ancient Pokémon {{p|Groudon}}. Their leader, Maxie, never even touches a [[Poké Ball]], much less control Groudon. While returning to base in a submarine, they acidentally pick up [[Ash]] and company, who are discovered by [[Maxie]]. In the anime, Team Magma functions as a complete organization,and respect is always shown.

There are many grunts and two admins, such as [[Harland]], or [[Tabitha]]. [[Bannai]]'s (Brody) status is unknown; he may be an admin or a very experienced grunt.

Their Pokémon usually include {{p|Houndoom}} and {{p|Mightyena}}. [[Bannai]]'s team includes a {{p|Ditto}}.

== In the Manga ==

Team Magma is still consisted of three different ranks, just as the two above. Instead of admins, you have the [[FireHeads]] Trio, composed of three trainers with specialties relating to the use of fire. [[Hokage]], [[Kagari]] and [[Homura]]. Their leader is [[Maxie]] (Matsubusa). In the manga, Team Magma is fairly unorganized, functioning in a rather 'barbaric' way. Basically, [[Maxie]] gives an order, and the three [[FireHeads]] can carry out the orders in any way they wish to. Unlike the anime, they show absolutely no respect towards their leader.

Their Pokémon include {{p|Camerupt}}, {{p|Numel}}, {{p|Slugma}}, {{p|Magcargo}}, {{p|Torkoal}}, and {{p|Ninetales}}.

=Comparisons=

Whereas [[Team Rocket]] has vague goals and is [[wp:Mafia|Mafia-like]] (or perhaps [[wp:Yakuza|Yakuza-like]], considering the Japanese background), Team Aqua and Team Magma have clear goals and is [[wp:Cult|cult-like]], fanatically believing that achieving their goals will bring about the best interests of the peoples of the world. All three have iconic leaders - [[Giovanni]] (later missing), [[Archie]] and [[Maxie]] respectively.

Team Rocket had extensive presence in Generation I, known activities include running the [[Celadon casino]], invading the [[Silph offices]], and murdering at least one Pokémon. Even in the [[Pokémon anime|anime]], where law enforcement officers are clearly present, Team Rocket's activities continue unhindered, as if they were above the law. (Analysis?)

In contrast, [[Team Aqua]] & [[Team Magma]]'s activities are at extremes: simple theft: stealing [[Peeko|a Pokémon]], a meteorite, and one submarine; and causing catastrophes: halting the activity of [[Mt.
