This article needs a bit of expansion, what role the individual Pokémon play, and exactly why they are giant in the first place. Not to mention what differenciates them from normal-sized Pokémon. I can't do too much here, my knowledge of episodes is limited at best, but I made a start. I split the episodes under their own heading, I'ld like to do the same to Talking Pokémon, but I think it might end up too messy, especially if there is too-little info on each Pokémon. I split them into Manga/Anime/Games either way, looks better now than it did. - Ferret 09:36, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

>I really don't think minor size alterations should be included in the article, as the characters in the anime never comment on the size of Juan or Winona's Pokémon, suggesting those sizes might be intended to be "normal" in the anime. The ones I listed previously were all intended to be giants.

Aside from that, there are tons and tons of minor size differences from the games to the anime - Drew's Roselia and Ash's Grovyle are both three times their in-game size. Noctowls are as big as a person, but Ash's isn't. No, these are just the writer's takes on what sizes they think individual Pokémon are (or at least should be for the purpose of looking better or plot). And thus problably shouldn't be covered on this page, because to the characters of the Pokémon anime, they're normal sized (unlike the giant Claydol or Bulbasaur - which are clearly stated to be unusually large).

Thus, I don't think they should be included, because they're not abnormal in the Pokémon anime. However, they might be better used in a similar but different topic about how Pokémon in the anime are rarely the same size as the ones in the PokéDex. Whaddya think? - Zeta

This page needs updating like Gary's Krabby being the size of Ash's Kingler...<span style="background:#000000;"><span style="color:#FF0000;">Crystal</span> <span style="color:#FF0000;">Lucario</span></span> 13:02, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

"The powerful Tentacruel even spoke to the characters through Meowth, despite Tentacruel having no psychic powers." This statement is probably innaccurate, as Meowth, like most Pokémon, is able to understand what pretty much any Pokémon says, and often translates for Team Rocket. However, I haven't seen that episode, so if it wasn't the usual translating but more like some kind of 'possession' or whatever, that would indicate psychic powers. In which case the statement should probably be rewritten to make that more clear. Ettina, 1:41PM Feb 9 2009
I question the definition of "Giant"
For example, the Dragonite from Mystery at the Light House was indeed giant...but Drew's Roselia? It's not giant, it's just slightly bigger. Kingler and Krabby shouldn't be here either. What comparison can be made that says Ash's Kingler is larger? The Pidgey from the fat Pidgey island isn't giant either. == Giant Onix in Pokemon Adventures Manga ==

I’ve recently begun reading Pokemon Special, and am always on the lookout for Giant Pokemon as I find them to be an incredible anomoly in the Pokemon world. If it were me only Kaiju sized pokemon would be relevent to this article. Every other pokemon should fall into the acceptable size discrepency category. To that end only Dragonite, Tentacruel, Gengar, Alakazam, Jigglypuff, and Claydol are relevent as permanently Giant pokemon. There is a seventh though. During the Yellow arc of Pokemon Special Bruno is battled on top of a seriously huge Onix. The Rocks composing its body are at least 2-3 times as large as a regular Onix. Also the length of said Onix is immense. At one point the run from the head of the Onix towhere it meats the cavern wall where the body dissapears into the wall hinting at even greater length. MissingN0000
Legendaries
Why aren't certain Legendary Pokemon on here? In the anime, numerous Legendary Pokemon are portrayed as being A LOT bigger than their Pokedex height. Take Groudon for example. It's Dex Height is 11'6, while in the anime it's around 30'. It's the same with Kyogre and Rayquaza. --Fox Boss (talk) 22:04, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
::That's Size discrepancies, not Giant Pokémon. The anime is known to make Pokémon either bigger or smaller than what the game says, and also, game=/=anime. Dugtrio (Japanese: ダグトリオ Dugtrio) is a Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

It evolves from Diglett starting at level 26.

In Alola, Dugtrio has a regional variant that is . It evolves from Alolan Diglett starting at level 26.

Biology
Dugtrio is a set of Diglett triplets sharing a single body. Each head has brown skin, black eyes, and a large, round, pink nose. Dugtrio's three heads think the same thoughts and act cooperatively, though on rare occasions may fight over which head gets to eat first. In order to make burrowing easier, each head will bob up and down to loosen the soil. Dugtrio can tunnel under the earth at 60&nbsp;mph (100&nbsp;km/h) to a depth of 60 miles (100&nbsp;km), triggering tremors and earthquakes. It is capable of burrowing endlessly. For a brief time, Fissure was its signature move.

Dugtrio lives in tunnels and List of Pokémon by habitat under the earth. As shown in the anime, it sometimes lives in hollow trees in forests. It maintains the soil and plants trees to revitalize wooded areas.

The Alolan Dugtrio appears to look much like other Dugtrio apart from the golden hair each head sports. One head has a bob-cut, the second has curly "shoulder-length" and the last one has flowing hair that touches the ground behind it. This hair is made out of thin yet heavy strands of steel and it grows slowly and continuously throughout the Dugtrio's life, acting as sensors that can detect vibrations from long distances underground. The Alolan Dugtrio is regarded as a feminine deity of the earth and taking its hairs is thought to bring bad luck.
* Dugtrio and its Diglett share their category name with Drilbur. They are all known as the Mole Pokémon.
* Dugtrio has the highest base Speed stat of all Ground Pokémon.
** It's Alolan counterpart has the highest base Speed stat of all Steel Pokémon.
* In the Pokéathlon Hurdle Dash, Dugtrio and Diglett are seen to go underground rather than physically jump out of the ground.
* In Generation V, when Dugtrio and Diglett are sent out, they merely fade onto the screen instead of dropping down<!--even those that fly or levitate go down--> like all other Pokémon.
* In the Poké Transfer, Dugtrio and Diglett run between bushes rather than jump.
* If Diglett or Dugtrio uses Supersonic Skystrike, it soars through the sky while still embedded in a piece of ground.

Origin
Dugtrio appears to be very similar to the artificial moles used in the Whac-A-Mole arcade games.

Alolan Dugtrio's hair may be based on Pele's hair, a thin volcanic glass formed near Hawaiian volcanoes.

Name origin
Dugtrio is a combination of dug (past tense of dig) and trio (a group of three).

This article should be limited to Pokémon that are literally giant. Not just slightly oversized. -Sketch 11:26, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Giant Onix in Pokemon Adventures Manga

:Originally, Shadow Tag vs. Shadow Tag resulted in both sides of the field being trapped. This led to Wobbuffet vs. Wobbuffet stalemates, so it was quickly changed. There isn't a note on either of the other two trapping Abilities (Arena Trap and Magnet Pull), which leads me to believe they probably weren't changed when Shadow Tag was (because they can't lead to similar stalemates, because all the Pokémon that can have them can learn damaging moves), but it's possible it needs more researching.
