Spear Pillar (named in the Japanese version as テンガンざん やりのはしら Mt. Tengan Spear Pillar) is an unlockable stage in the Nintendo Wii fighting video game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Players can unlock the stage by completing Event 25: The Aura Is With Me. The background of the stage will feature either Dialga, Palkia, or Cresselia, who will occasionally affect the stage by tilting it diagonally, turning the stage backwards to invert the movements of the characters controlled by the control stick/D-pad, or breaking the middle section of the top platform; Dialga reverses time to repair the damage. The members of the lake guardians also make cameo appearances the stage becomes distorted.

The stage's default music is a mix of Battle! Dialga & Palkia and Victory Road. Optional pieces of background music are Battle! Team Galactic and Route 209.

Effects
Dialga, Palkia, and Cresselia may affect the stage. Dialga appears when the sky has a blue hue; Palkia appears when the sky has a purple hue; Cresselia appears when the sky is clear.

Dialga's effects
* Beam. Dialga shoots a blue beam horizontally across the cave below the stage or vertically through the stage.
* Earthquake. Part of the upper stage is destroyed, leaving an open gap to the cave below.
* Roar of Time. Dialga jumps onto the stage from the background, attacking players in close range with a rainbow colored blast.
* Slo-Mo. The speed of the game decreases; all characters on the stage are affected by this.
* Tilt. The camera is tilted at an angle. This does not affect the stage's gravity or the controls.
<gallery>
Image:Spear Tilt.jpg|Dialga's Tilt
</gallery>

Palkia's Effects
* Beam. Palkia shoots a pink beam horizontally across the cave below the stage or vertically through the stage.
* Earthquake. Part of the upper stage is destroyed, leaving an open gap to the cave below.
* Low Gravity. The gravity in the stage is decreased, so players fall slower than normal.
* Spacial Rend. The stage is mirrored, inverting the movement controls.
* Upside Down. The camera is turned upside down. This does not affect the stage's gravity or the controls.
<gallery>
Image:Spear Crumble.jpg|Palkia's Earthquake
Image:Spear Upside Down.jpg|Palkia's Upside Down
</gallery>

Cresselia's effects
* Moon Blades. Cresselia throws blades in a random pre-defined route. Deals less damage than Dialga's or Palkia's Beam.
* Psycho Cut. Rains down several crescent-shaped slashes in a random direction from a central point above the center of the stage.

Trivia
* At the bottom of the pedestal on which Dialga, Palkia, or Cresselia stands, there are the drawings of Dialga and Palkia which appear outside of the ruins in Celestic Town.
* Occasionally, Azelf, Uxie, or Mesprit may appear on the stage near the pedestal where the other Pokemon may appear. They do not appear to do anything and will disappear soon after appearing, with Azelf and Uxie teleporting away and Mesprit flying off to the side.
In Generation III, this was the only way to obtain these two Pokémon via catching in the GBA. Ho-Oh and Lugia could be obtained by completing tasks in the Gamecube games Pokemon Colosseum and XD, respectively, and they were available via direct download in the 10th Anniversary events in Europe. However in Generation IV, they were obtainable normally again through Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions.

Effect
Submission does damage, and the user receives recoil damage equal to 25% of the damage done to the target.

If the user of Submission attacks first and faints due to recoil damage, the target will not attack or be subjected to recurrent damage during that round. However, the user will still be subject to recurrent damage. Self-inflicted recoil damage from Submission from the previous turn can be countered if the target does not make a move on the following turn. If Submission breaks a Substitute, the user will take no recoil damage.

In Stadium, no recoil damage is taken if Submission knocks out a target.
Trivia
* In all generations, all Pokémon that learn Submission naturally are from a Generation I Pokémon, with the sole exception of Cyndaquil, not including Totodile's PCNY event in Generation II. In Generation II, other Pokémon such as Blissey may learn this move, but only if they are traded forward with the Time Capsule prior to evolution.

* The name for this move is somewhat inaccurate. A professional wrestling submission is a move executed by wreching an opponent's limbs for an extended period of time, in the hopes the opponent will give up. The move's effect is more like a particularly strong grapple (the Japanese name suggests a Hell Wheel).
The Silph Corporation (Japanese: シルフカンパニー Silph Company) is a company in many versions of the Pokémon franchise. They are the manufacturers of many tools, including the Silph Scope, which allows the user to view spectral entities, and have headquarters in Saffron City. They are also speculated to run the Poké Marts in Kanto and possibly Johto and the Sevii Islands as well.

Geography
Company overview
Silph Co. is the leading manufacturer of Pokémon technology. It is this company that produces the Poké Balls used by trainers to capture Pokémon, and they are constantly looking for ways to improve upon them. Their status made them a target in the Generation I storyline, in which Team Rocket orchestrated the takeover of their headquarters in Saffron City. The player, though, will arrive just in time to take on the mission of driving them out of the city, and the President of Silph will reveal afterwards the top-secret development Team Rocket was after: the Master Ball, which can catch any Pokémon without fail.

Headquarters
The Silph Co. Head Office Building is an eleven-floor skyscraper that is effectively a giant maze. In the games, the player must navigate using warp tiles in order to reach the board room on the top floor. The player must find the Card Key, which unlocks Silph's doors like a hotel key, on the fourth floor of the building in order to do this. All the while, the player must battle through numerous Team Rocket grunts, including the Rocket Brothers, and one Juggler.

Then the player must return to the third floor, open the doors in the center-left of the floor, and use the warp tile to the far left to be taken to the room with a further warp tile that leads to board room. Blue waits in that room and the player must face him before continuing on. After he has been beaten, the other person in the room will give the player a Lapras, an extremely rare Pokémon that cannot be obtained any other way in Generation I.

After this, the player may continue on to the board room to face Giovanni for the Master Ball. After rescuing Silph, the player is free to explore the building and talk to the employees.

In Generation II, Silph Co. has increased security, and the player is not allowed to enter the upper floors. One of the guards, however, will kindly give the player an Evolution-inducing held item for talking to him, which will allow a Porygon to evolve through a trade into Porygon2. In Generation IV's , one of the Hoenn region's starter Pokémon may be obtained here towards the end of the game from Hoenn Champion himself, Steven Stone. The alternate forms of Rotom may also be accessed here in Generation IV, and the notebook present in the room Rotom's appliances can be found in indicates that Charon may have had past connection to the company. Generation IV also introduced a logo for the company that appears on the PokéGear and has a statue based on it in the company's building.
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Silph Co. made a brief appearance at the end of Holy Moltres in the Red, Green & Blue Chapter, where Sabrina was in the office with Giovanni saying that they have captured all the Legendary Birds.

In Super Smash Bros.
Saffron City (stage)

Silph Co. appears in Saffron City as a playable stage in Super Smash Bros.. The battle takes place on the roof of Silph Co. and a few smaller surrounding buildings, along with two small moving platforms. This is the home stage of Pikachu and Jigglypuff in the game.

Certain Pokémon will emerge from the elevator on the Silph Co. building and attack briefly, similar to Pokémon summoned from Poké Balls. Occasionally, Pidgey, Fearow, Butterfree, and other Flying Pokémon will appear in the background.

Trivia
* Oddly enough, among the Grunts and Team Rocket scientists in Silph Co. is Juggler Dalton, who attacks the player like any grunt, exclaiming that kids shouldn't be here. He battles the player with a Kadabra and a Mr. Mime. After the battle, he says that it's a long way to his boss, indirectly referring to Giovanni, which hints that Dalton is associated with Team Rocket (though is clearly not a grunt). He is also the only Team Rocket member not belonging to Team Rocket or Scientist Trainer classes.
*When the player encounters Scientist Taylor, before battle he says that he was shipped off to the "TIKSI BRANCH" of the company, which after being defeated he says is "in Russian no-man's-land." This is another reference of the real world in Pokemon games, and shows that Silph probably has more branches than just the one in Saffron City.

Name origin
It is speculated that Silph Co.'s name is derived from the sylph, a mythological creature.

*When the player encounters Scientist Taylor, before battle he says that he was shipped off to the "TIKSI" branch of the company. What this is referring to is unknown, but it potentially means that Silph has locations in other regions as well as Kanto.

Name origin
It is speculated that Silph Co.'s name is derived from the sylph, a mythological creature.

Growth (Japanese: せいちょう Growth) is a non-damaging Normal move introduced in Generation I.

Effect
Generation I
Growth increases the user's Special stat by one stage. Growth will do nothing if the user's Special has reached six stages or a value of 999. The effect of Growth is ignored by critical hits.

Generation II and on
The effects of Growth are the same as the previous generation, however, it increases user's Special Attack stat instead.

In the anime
Tangrowth. Tangrowth emits a green beam from its hands that gives a dying tree the energy to grow.
* Used by wild Tangrowth as well as several other Grass-type Pokémon in Promoting Healthy Tangrowth!.
The entrance to the Shinto Ruins is at the Ruins of Alph. Bringing an Arceus from a Nintendo event here will unlock the new area, but this will only occur if the Arceus is currently the player's partner Pokémon and was traded from . Cynthia will be found waiting for the player, and will tell them that Arceus has the ability to create newborn Pokémon. She will escort the player into the ruins and show them an area called the Triad Stage (Japanese: みつぶたい) that is linked to Arceus's power of creation. The player will get a choice to obtain only one of either Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina at level 1, equipped with their respective orbs. Arceus must be the only Pokémon in the player's party for this to occur, and a PC is inside the cabin near the ruins for the player to use.
Trivia
*The background music in this area is an arrangement of themes used in and on Mt. Coronet, indicating a possible connection.
*The name may be a portmanteau of Shin'ō and Jōto, as it is a place where the architecture and legends of both regions meet.
**It may also be a pun on the Japanese native religion of Shinto, whose creation story is heavily referenced by the dragon trio, Arceus, and Spear Pillar.
*The Shinto Ruins are outside the range of the map, and therefore technically are not part of the Ruins of Alph, or the regions of Johto and Kanto. It is unknown where exactly they are in relation to Sinnoh and Mt. Coronet.
*The creation event that takes place here includes real-life pictures in the game. This is the first time this has happened in any Pokémon canon.
*Choosing the Giratina from the event is the only way to get a Griesous Orb in a Hg or Ss game (and therefore the only way to change a Giratina to Origin Forme in HgSs), as it cannot be traded from one game to another.
Jirachi (Japanese: ジラーチ Jirachi) is a dual-type legendary Pokémon.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Biology
Physiology
Jirachi is a small, white humanoid Pokémon. Jirachi has short, stubby legs like Cleffa and arms that makes Jirachi look like it's wearing a long-sleeved shirt. Its short legs are most likely the reason for it floating most of the time, rather than having to walk. There is a curved line on Jirachi's stomach which conceals a third eye that it rarely opens. Its two normal eyes have pale teal triangles underneath that resemble tears. Jirachi has two yellow streamers on its back. Jirachi appears to be wearing a yellow headdress that resembles a star. Three of the points have a teal-colored tag on them. Jirachi has smooth skin that apparently has the hardness of steel.
Gender differences
Jirachi is a genderless species.
Special abilities
Jirachi has the ability to grant wishes.

Jirachi is the only known Pokémon that learns Doom Desire.

Behavior
Jirachi spends most of its time asleep and is only awake for seven days once every 1,000 years when a voice of purity sings to it. During this time, Jirachi has the power to grant wishes. It has a child-like personality.

Habitat
In the anime, Jirachi hibernates in Forina.

Diet
Pokémon food

In the anime
Jirachi's only major anime appearance was in Jirachi: Wish Maker. Jirachi will only awaken during the week of the thousand-year comet and if there is a partner that can be its friend. Max filled that role in the movie. However, The Great Butler wanted to use Jirachi's powers to awaken Groudon.

A Jirachi also had a very brief cameo in The Rise of Darkrai.

In the manga
The seven days Jirachi was awake coincided with the seven days of the opening ceremonies for the Battle Frontier. At the request of Professor Oak, Emerald tried to capture Jirachi while he was there. However, Guile Hideout managed to capture Jirachi first. At the end of the chapter, Jirachi opened its third eye to Emerald and revived the five Pokédex holders.

In the TCG
Jirachi (TCG)

Game data
NPC appearances
* Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire: While in the Ruins, one of the slot machine prizes is the chance to capture Jirachi. Jirachi will move around and must be hit three times in 30 seconds for the capture to be successful. There is only one chance per game.

Other appearances
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Jirachi appears as a rare Poké Ball Pokémon in its first appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series. The chance of it appearing is 1 in 493 (coincidently the same amount of Pokémon in the current National Dex). Like the other "secret" Pokémon, it drops rare items instead of just flying away. In Jirachi's case, the items are stickers.

Trophy Information
A Wish Pokémon. It's said to awaken for seven days once every thousand years, with the ability to grant any wish asked of it. It is truly a Pokémon of which dreams are made. In combat it uses its wish power to attack. Its attack, Doom Desire, which causes light to rain down from the heavens to do tremendous damage, is especially powerful.
Trivia
* In the anime, it is one of the few Pokémon who can speak telepathically.
* Jirachi and Manaphy have never been given an in-game location. As well, they were both stars in a Pokémon movie where they bonded with Max and May, respectively.
**Jirachi stars in the movie in which Groudon made its first movie appearance, while Manaphy is the star Pokémon in a later movie in which Kyogre made its first movie appearance.
* Jirachi's Generation III sprites show its true eye opened and blue streamers. However, in its Diamond and Pearl sprites, its true eye is closed and its streamers are teal instead of blue.
**In Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky, its streamers are a light green (most noticeably in its overworld sprites rather than the headshots.)
* Jirachi is the fastest Steel Pokémon, with a base speed of 100.
* Jirachi is the only Pokémon with Serene Grace as its single ability.
* Jirachi, other than Smeargle and Arceus when not holding the Plate, is the only non-Dragon-type Pokémon legitimately able to know the move Draco Meteor.
*In the Pokémon Special manga, it is a member of Team Aqua, Archie, who uses Jirachi's power to create a Kyogre monster, whereas in the anime, in the movie Jirachi: Wish Maker, it is a member of Team Magma, Butler, who uses Jirachi's power to create a Groudon monster.

Origin
Jirachi's design and ability of granting wishes probably refer to the habit of "wishing upon a star", so that the wish will come true. Considering its humanoid appearance and ability to grant wishes, it is also possible that it was inspired by Arabic myths about genies, or djinn. In some myths, imprisoned genies would grant wishes to the person who released them. The tags of paper on its head are a reference toward Tanabata.

Name origin
Jirachi gets its name from желать zhelatʹ, which is Russian for "to desire". It could also be from the Japanese word 幸 sachi, which means wish, happiness, or fortune. It also may have gotten its name from the Biblical term, "Jireh," which means provider.

Serebii.net or SPP <small>(Serebii's Pokémon Page/Place/Palace)</small> is a fan site created by Serebii in the fall of 1999 when many Pokémon sites were quickly starting to appear. The site first gained popularity as a GeoCities site, where it was also a member of the Articuno Island network.

It is a well known source for anime, games, and TCG information. The website is updated on an almost daily basis.

It also had a close affiliation with the short lived Pokémon Official Magazine in the UK. Its mascot Pokémon is Celebi, and it has recently created a popular program called Pokéarth.

Controversy
Serebii.net has occasionally been the center of controversy, as its webmaster has faced accusations of theft in the past. Serebii, the owner, claims that he has not personally stolen anything since mid-2002. Since mid-2002, there however has been at least one case of material appearing on Serebii's site that had been created by another fansite; however Serebii has stated that this resulted from the work of unscrupulous fans stealing the material from the original site and passing them along to him, without informing him of the source. Although he has shown reluctance to remove such material at times, Serebii eventually accepts to do so in the vast majority of cases.

Server issues
Serebii.net has suffered from a number of server problems since it burst into the ranks of the major Pokémon sites in 2002. Up until March 2003, its uptime could be called sporadic at best, with large downtimes of up to 6 months, due primarily to Serebii.net outgrowing a sequence of servers that it was being hosted on for no charge.

Due to Serebii's dire situation, Ledian_X introduced Craig Maloof to Serebii, who made an offer to pay for Serebii's server costs. (Craig had previously made this offer towards Archaic for Bulbagarden, though this offer was rejected.) Since that time, Serebii.net has been hosted on Craig's own private servers, with the hosting bills apparently being paid for via the single Google AdWords banner on every page of the site and forums.

In Early 2006, after the site had made enough excess to pay Craig back for the time he personally funded the servers, it was decided to move the servers onto servers under the sole control of Serebii, with assistance from ricocheting, a guy who had helped Craig run his servers in the past.

Since then, the site's reach expanded causing many more server issues noted by many users in commencing at the release of Diamond & Pearl in Japan and many users trading in the sites forums. These issues are still plaguing the site at time of writing and are in the process of being resolved. The trading problem, however, has been resolved by different methods, such as sorting Pokémon and not allowing personal trade topics.

Serebii.net is also well known for presenting an Advent Calendar every December.
