===Pokémon Legends: Arceus===
The Miss Fortune sisters are first encountered at [[Crimson Mirelands]] when the player recovers the stolen [[Wall Fragment]] from them. Their next encounter with them is at [[Cobalt Coastlands]] after the player has befriended the rideable {{p|Basculegion}}, stealing one of [[Palina]]'s {{p|Growlithe}} and taking it to [[Firespit Island]] so they can [[Evolution|evolve]] it. The player follows them and defeats each of the sisters, after which Palina's other Growlithe appears and evolves into {{p|Arcanine}}, forcing the sisters to depart. They're encountered for the third time in [[Primeval Grotto]], wanting to steal the [[Origin Ore]] since they think it's valuable, but are driven away.

Outside of scripted encounters, each sister also has one semi-fixed spawn per map area. For example, Coin sometimes{{fact}} appears on or near the trail between Deertrack Path and Deertrack Heights in the [[Obsidian Fieldlands]] (in any weather or time of day). Each of them drops a stack of [[valuable item]]s every time the player wins a battle against them during these encounters.

During {{pkmn|battle}}, a Mega Stone can be activated while its corresponding {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} is on the field. The stone must be held by the Pokémon or, in [[Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!|Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!]] (which do not feature [[held item]]s), be in the possession of the Pokémon's {{pkmn|Trainer}}. The Pokémon's Trainer can use their [[Key Stone]] to activate the Mega Stone at the start of a turn, causing the Pokémon to undergo [[Mega Evolution]]. Mega Stones are not consumed upon use, but only one Mega Stone use is possible per Trainer per battle. Mega Stones cannot be activated for Pokémon that have transformed into their corresponding Pokémon (either by {{m|Transform}} or {{a|Imposter}}).

As held items, Mega Stones cannot be transfered to or from their corresponding Pokémon in battle; {{m|Thief}} and {{m|Covet}} will not steal them, {{m|Knock Off}} will not remove them or cause extra damage, {{m|Trick}}, {{m|Switcheroo}}, {{m|Fling}}, and {{m|Bestow}} will fail, and {{a|Symbiosis}} will not activate. {{m|Embargo}}, {{m|Magic Room}}, and {{a|Klutz}} also do not prevent the use of Mega Stones.

During a {{pkmn|Contest|Contest Spectacular}}, if a Mega Stone is being held by its corresponding Pokémon, the Pokémon's {{pkmn|Coordinator}} will activate it automatically if the Pokémon performs a [[Spectacular Talent]].

Some Mega Stones are given or sold to the player by NPCs. Most others can be found in various locations around [[Kalos]], appearing as sparkles on the ground rather than [[item ball]]s. These can only be found after [[Professor Sycamore]] upgrades the player's [[Mega Ring]] in [[Anistar City]], which only happens after the player defeats their [[rival]] in [[Kiloude City]]. These Mega Stones also only appear from <time datetime="20:00:00">{{#time:H:i|20:00:00}}</time> to <time datetime="20:59:59>{{#time:H:i|20:59:59}}</time>, while the Anistar Sundial is active. Some Mega Stones are exclusive to each game.

The Blazikenite, Latiasite, and Latiosite are only obtainable via [[trade]]. However, the former was also an [[event item]]. Mega Stones introduced in {{pkmn|Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire}} are unobtainable.

Some Mega Stones are only obtainable by meeting certain requirements, such as defeating [[Lisia]] in a [[Rank (Contest)|Master Rank]] Contest Spectacular to receive the Lucarionite from {{ga|Chaz}}, or receiving the Garchompite from [[Aarune]] after reaching the [[Super-Secret Base]] Platinum Rank. However, most Mega Stones appear around [[Hoenn]] as sparkles on the ground, much like in {{pkmn|X and Y}}. Many of these only appear after the player defeats or captures {{p|Groudon|Primal Groudon}}{{sup/6|OR}} or {{p|Kyogre|Primal Kyogre}}{{sup/6|AS}}.

The Diancite is unobtainable through normal gameplay; instead, it can be received from an NPC in any [[Pokémon Center]] if the player has a {{p|Diancie}}—an [[event Pokémon]]—in their party.

Pokémon holding Mega Stones introduced in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (except the Latiasite and Latiosite) cannot be traded to X and Y.

The Kanto {{pkmn2|first partner}}s' Mega Stones can be received by defeating {{ga|Red}}{{sup/7|SMUSUM}} or {{ga|Blue}}{{sup/7|USUM}} in a challenge at the [[Battle Tree]]. Many Mega Stones (including the Alakazite) can be purchased at the Battle Tree for 64[[Battle Point|BP]] each. In {{pkmn|Sun and Moon}}, only the Mega Stones for Pokémon in the {{OBP|List of Pokémon by Alola Pokédex number|Sun and Moon|Alola Pokédex}} can be purchased. In {{pkmn|Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon}}, all Mega Stones except the Kanto first partners' and the Diancite can be purchased.

In Sun and Moon, the remaining Mega Stones are only obtainable via trade. However, they were all also event items. They were distributed via [[List of other event distributions (Generation VII)|universal serial code]]s provided on the official Pokémon website, which were usable in all [[software region]]s but expired on <time datetime="2017-10-31 23:59:59">{{#dateformat:2017-10-31|mdy}} at {{#time:H:i T|23:59:59}}</time>. ===[[Pokémon Rumble World]]===
The player gains the ability to Mega Evolve their Pokémon after completing the challenge "Raid of the Mighty General", then receiving the Special Stone Shop and a Mega Key from the rewards section of the ordinary shop. [[Mega Stone]]s for currently owned Pokémon can be bought and immediately attached to its corresponding Pokémon using the Special Stone Shop. The first Mega Stone of the player's choice is free (unless either the [[Red Orb|Red]] or [[Blue Orb]] is chosen instead) and every one after it costs 5 Poké Diamonds. During battle, Mega Evolution can be performed by tapping the Mega Evolution button using a Pokémon equipped with a Mega Stone in battle. Mega Evolution can be used again on any Pokémon in the same battle, unlike in the main games.

Mega-Evolved Pokémon revert after a completed trip, or when they are defeated or switched out. Mega Evolving will send out a shockwave that damages enemy Pokémon. This shockwave is capable of defeating and tipping over opposing Pokémon. Additionally, it also resets any negative status conditions or status changes the Pokémon had before Mega Evolving.

After battling a {{p|Blaziken}} guarding the Lucarionite—which was afterward revealed to belong to Korrina's grandfather, [[Gurkinn]]—Korrina obtained the Mega Stone and used it to Mega Evolve her {{TP|Korrina|Lucario}}. In ''[[PS566|Overthrowing a Tyrunt]]'', Trevor and X became aware of different Mega Stones and their names when the {{tc|Team Flare Grunt}} they were fighting mentioned the Kangaskanite and Manectite explicitly. * The design of the Mega Stones appears to be based on a common pattern found in the glass {{wp|Marble (toy)|marble}} called a toothpaste or catseye marble.
* Certain Mega Stones in X and Y are only found in the game in which the corresponding Pokémon is not normally available:
** The Aggronite and Houndoominite are only found in Y, though {{p|Aron}}, {{p|Houndour}}, and their evolved forms are exclusive to X.
** The Tyranitarite and Manectricite are only found in X, though {{p|Larvitar}} and {{p|Electrike}} are exclusive to Y; however, {{p|Pupitar}} and {{p|Manectric}} can be found in the [[Friend Safari]] in both X and Y.
