I don't want to start an edit war. XD So i'm bringing it up here. His hair appears blue in the TCG artwork, but in the anime it's clearly periwinkle. I brought it up in photoshop, and it's directly between the blue and purple section of the color scale, leaning towards purple. There's been numerous debates on his hair color in the fandom, and no one can ever seem to come to a compromise. So i looked it up, asked various art teachers in my district, and they all said his hair doesn't fit into either category. So i looked up what color it is, and it's periwinkle. Even if he has been said to have blue hair by characters, they're simplifying it. So i think we should put it as periwinkle, seeing as if we put either "blue" or "purple" we'd be incorrect. When she was old enough, she left home to become a Pokémon nurse in [[Johto]]. However, the school she was enrolled in was literally for ''Pokémon'' nurses (i.e. {{p|Chansey}}), so she failed to graduate and left, leaving behind a [[Nurse Joy's Blissey|Chansey]] she had befriended there. In the episode ''[[EP129|Ignorance is Blissey]]'', Jessie was reunited with that same Chansey, which had since evolved into a {{p|Blissey}}. It is assumed that she then traveled back to [[Kanto]], where she enrolled in [[Pokémon Tech]], a {{pkmn|Trainer}}'s school, she met [[James]], and subsequently failed and dropped out. After this, Jessie and James joined a bicycle gang in [[Sunny Town]], where Jessie was known for swinging a chain above her head as she rode her bike, acquiring the nickname "Chainer Jess".

Due to conflicts in canon between Kanto and Johto episodes and the special episode ''[[H012|Training Daze]]'', what happened between Jessie and James after the bike gang is unknown. What ''is'' known, as shown in the special episode, is that they joined Team Rocket separately and were on initially unfriendly terms after being grouped with {{MTR}} but they quickly made up and became good friends.

Sometime before joining Team Rocket, and it is not known when, Jessie obtained a [[Contest Pass]] in the [[Hoenn]] region. Also during the years before Team Rocket, she had several boyfriends, all of whom left her and/or treated her badly. In ''[[EP234|Xatu the Future]]'', she revealed that she had once worked at a T.V. station as the weathergirl. In ''[[AG156|From Cradle to Save]]'', it was revealed that she once was a ninja. In [[Crossing Paths]], it was revealed that she had a crush on a boy she had gone to school with named [[Astin]], who has a current-day counterpart [[Austin|with a similar name]].

She has a long-standing bitter rivalry with [[Cassidy]], another member of Team Rocket. And Team Rocket member {{an|Wendy}} held a grudge against Jessie for failing to pay for a drink (making Wendy pay), but got her revenge when she added the charge to Jessie's overall Team Rocket bill.

Jessie seems to have a special preference for snake-like Pokémon, owning both an {{TP|Jessie|Arbok}} and a {{TP|Jessie|Seviper}}. In ''[[EP032|The Ninja Poké Showdown]]'', she expressed a preference for {{type2|Poison}} Pokémon in general.

It is revealed in [[EP048|Holy Matrimony!]] that Jessie is almost identical in appearance to James's fiancée, [[Jessiebelle]], with the two of them having virtually identical faces and only noticeable physical differences between them being eye color, hairstyle, and slightly different hair colors. Meowth in particular takes notice of this and frequently reminds Jessie of the fact throughout the episode, something she takes strong offense to due to Jessiebelle's reprehensible personality. Interestingly enough by the time the subject of Jessiebelle is breached again in [[DP002|Two Degrees of Separation!]] she seems to have forgotten about her doppelganger and needs Meowth to remind her of who she is.

Jessie is also known to be very vain and is also prone to explosive anger. She values her appearance, and she can get furious when her face or hair is damaged, such as in ''[[EP023|The Tower of Terror]]'', ''[[EP117|Don't Touch That 'dile!]]'' and ''[[AG008|A Tail with a Twist]]''. When this happens, she may do things like beat up a Pokémon such as {{MTR}} or her {{TP|Jessie|Seviper}}. Furthermore, Jessie goes into a violent outrage whenever someone insults her beauty by calling her old, such as the episode ''[[EP040|The Battling Eevee Brothers]]'' when [[Misty]] calls Jessie an "old hag" (Japanese: ''oba-san''). She spitted fire in extreme anger after Misty called her that name in that episode. She is also angered (compared to her companions, who are usually depressed when they fail at something) when missions are either failed or botched, which is a regular thing. Both Jessie and James appear in Pokémon Yellow as in-game bosses. They first attack the main character in [[Mt. Moon]], while trying to take one of the rare [[fossil]]s uncovered there.

Later, in [[Celadon City]]'s [[Rocket Game Corner]], Jessie and James guard Giovanni's room in the Team Rocket base. During that time, as the player runs into them, they are eager for revenge after the main character busted up their plans at Mt. Moon.

They hold Mr. Fuji hostage at [[Pokémon Tower]]. They attack the {{ga|Red|main character}} on the seventh floor.

In his most famous duel, he defeated his rival, 佐々木小次郎 ''{{wp|Sasaki Kojirō}}'', after whom James got his Japanese name. However, one can argue that she is also named after the Japanese battleship {{wp|Musashi}}, as her rival [[Cassidy]]'s Japanese name is based off of the Japanese battleship {{wp|Yamato}}.

The only child of millionaires, James was forced to endure formal society while growing up. Often having to take part in numerous lessons and activities he had little to no interest in, he eventually began to grow weary of the rules and standards that appeared to be ever-present within the upper-class. At a young age, he was engaged to [[Jessiebelle]]. Soon after it was announced, James, not able to stand Jessiebelle's controlling personality, ran away from home, leaving behind his beloved pet [[Growlie]]. He attempted to enroll in [[Pokémon Tech]], a {{pkmn|Trainer}}'s school, but, along with his new friend [[Jessie]], flunked out. Then, with Jessie, he joined the [[Sunny Town]] bicycle gang, where he was popular for being the only gang member to have to use training wheels (nicknamed "Trainer Jim"). Eventually James, Jessie, and the bike gang went their separate ways.

Due to conflicts in canon between [[Kanto]] and [[Johto]] episodes and the special episode ''[[H012|Training Daze]]'', what happened between James and Jessie after the bike gang is unknown. What ''is'' known, as shown in the special episode, is that they joined Team Rocket separately and were on initially unfriendly terms after being grouped with {{MTR}}. However, they quickly made up and the rest is history.

Since he is proficient in several activities, including Pokémon haiku and [[PokéRinger]], it is possible that he developed his skills during his temporary separation from Jessie, or even from the many lessons he was enrolled in as a child, but this is not known for sure.

Perhaps due to his heavily enforced, sheltered upbringing, as well as the constant harassment that he had to endure from Jessiebelle, James has an odd, somewhat submissive personality. He will regularly comply to whatever ideas the other two come up with, and when he doesn't, usually ends up doing so anyway, like when he was forced to trade his {{TP|James|Victreebel}} away. He also seems to be the most emotional amongst the Team Rocket trio, and if the three should ever happen to get separated, seems very lost without his companions.

In the episode ''[[EP048|Holy Matrimony!]]'', James returned to his home as a result of a trap by his parents, who pretended to be dead in order to get him to come back to the estate, knowing he would return to pay his respects. After the deception was revealed, he was once again subjected to Jessiebelle's affliction until Growlie came to his rescue. After temporarily chasing Jessiebelle away, James soon left his family's manor and as a result declined his inheritance. Growlie stayed behind upon James's request when he returned to Jessie and Meowth. Though we later find out in [[DP153]] that he originally wanted to marry Jessiebelle, but changed his mind after he discovered her true colors.

James has a tendency to be swindled by a [[Magikarp Salesman]], who, despite James's increasing wariness and personal vendetta against the shady character, has on many occasions tricked him into buying a Magikarp or other useless Pokémon and items for large sums of money.

James also has a [[List of Team Rocket's disguises|tendency to cross-dress]], but has not done it since ''[[AG050|Pros and Con Artists]]'', with the exception of the occasional impersonation of characters such as [[Nurse Joy]]'s and [[Officer Jenny]]'s. In fact, [[DP146]] marks the first time he cross dresses in the [[Diamond and Pearl]] anime series, though it was him disguised as [[Jessie]]. He also often dresses up like famous celebrities as well, such as [[Professor Oak]], [[Juan]], and [[Norman]], and impersonates other non-human objects, including Pokémon, animals, and even bushes and trees.

James loves rare bottle caps and has an impressive collection of them. This hobby started when he was a young child. In the episode ''[[EP184|All That Glitters!]]'' it is revealed that he has "drunk enough soda pop to float an aircraft carrier".

For unknown reasons, he, Jessie and Meowth mostly use [[Transportation in Pokémon|hot air balloons]] instead of faster ways of transportation. However in newer episodes the balloon is shown with 'jets' attached to explain how they get from one place to another faster than walking

As the standards of the Team Rocket organization dictated, James was first shown with a Poison-type Pokémon. However, James seems to have a fondness for carnivorous {{type2|Grass}} [[Pokémon]], owning {{p|Weepinbell}}, {{p|Victreebel}}, and {{p|Carnivine}}. It was shown during a flashback in ''[[DP082|Cream of the Croagunk Crop!]]'' how James, as a boy, found {{TP|James|Carnivine}} in the [[Great Marsh]]. It was trapped in the mud and James rescued it, the two forming a bond of friendship. It is not shown how he {{pkmn2|caught|captured}} Weepinbell, but he had owned it for a long period of time before its first appearance. The capture of a {{p|Cacnea}} early in Hoenn furthered his apparent preference for Grass-types. Often, when going into battle, his Grass Pokémon will show great affection towards James. It is also shown there is a strong bond between James and his other Pokémon; James almost treats them as his own children. This could stem from the childhood memories he occasionally brings up, where it is shown that while growing up James hadn't really had any friends other than his Pokémon. When it comes time to leave a Pokémon behind for one reason or another, James often has great difficulty in letting go of his beloved friends.

The only child of millionaires, James was forced to endure formal society while growing up. Often having to take part in numerous lessons and activities he had little to no interest in, he eventually began to grow weary of the rules and standards that appeared to be ever-present within the upper-class. At a young age, he was forcefully engaged to a girl of whom he was terrified, [[Jessiebelle]], all because [[James' parents|his parents]] wanted to have a wealthy daughter-in-law. Soon after the engagement was announced, James, not able to stand Jessiebelle's controlling personality, ran away from home, leaving behind his beloved pet [[Growlie]]. He attempted to enroll in [[Pokémon Tech]], a {{pkmn|Trainer}}'s school, but, along with his new friend [[Jessie]], flunked out. Then, with Jessie, he joined the [[Sunny Town]] bicycle gang, where he was popular for being the only gang member to have to use training wheels (nicknamed "Trainer Jim"). Eventually James, Jessie, and the bike gang went their separate ways.

Due to conflicts in canon between [[Kanto]] and [[Johto]] episodes and the special episode ''[[H012|Training Daze]]'', what happened between James and Jessie after the bike gang is unknown. What ''is'' known, as shown in the special episode, is that they joined Team Rocket separately and were on initially unfriendly terms after being grouped with {{MTR}}. However, they quickly made up and the rest is history.

Since he is proficient in several activities, including Pokémon haiku and [[PokéRinger]], it is possible that he developed his skills during his temporary separation from Jessie, or even from the many lessons he was enrolled in as a child, but this is not known for sure.

Perhaps due to his heavily enforced, sheltered upbringing, as well as the constant harassment that he had to endure from Jessiebelle, James has an odd, somewhat submissive personality. He will regularly comply to whatever ideas the other two come up with, and when he doesn't, usually ends up doing so anyway, like when he was forced to trade his {{TP|James|Victreebel}} away. He also seems to be the most emotional amongst the Team Rocket trio, and if the three should ever happen to get separated, seems very lost without his companions.

In the episode ''[[EP048|Holy Matrimony!]]'', James returned to his home as a result of a trap by his parents, who pretended to be dead in order to get him to come back to the estate, knowing he would return to pay his respects. After the deception was revealed, he was once again subjected to Jessiebelle's affliction until Growlie came to his rescue. After temporarily chasing Jessiebelle away, James soon left his family's manor and as a result declined his inheritance. Growlie stayed behind upon James's request when he returned to Jessie and Meowth. Though we later find out in [[DP153]] that he originally wanted to marry Jessiebelle, but changed his mind after he discovered her true colors.

James has a tendency to be swindled by a [[Magikarp Salesman]], who, despite James's increasing wariness and personal vendetta against the shady character, has on many occasions tricked him into buying a Magikarp or other useless Pokémon and items for large sums of money.

James also has a [[List of Team Rocket's disguises|tendency to cross-dress]], but has not done it since ''[[AG050|Pros and Con Artists]]'', with the exception of the occasional impersonation of characters such as [[Nurse Joy]]'s and [[Officer Jenny]]'s. In fact, [[DP146]] marks the first time he cross dresses in the [[Diamond and Pearl]] anime series, though it was him disguised as [[Jessie]]. James loves rare bottle caps and has an impressive collection of them. This hobby started when he was a young child. In the episode ''[[EP184|All That Glitters!]]'' it is revealed that he has "drunk enough soda pop to float an aircraft carrier".

For unknown reasons, he, Jessie and Meowth mostly use [[Transportation in Pokémon|hot air balloons]] instead of faster ways of transportation. However in newer episodes the balloon is shown with 'jets' attached to explain how they get from one place to another faster than walking

As the standards of the Team Rocket organization dictated, James was first shown with a Poison-type Pokémon. However, James seems to have a fondness for carnivorous {{type2|Grass}} [[Pokémon]], owning {{p|Weepinbell}}, {{p|Victreebel}}, and {{p|Carnivine}}. It was shown during a flashback in ''[[DP082|Cream of the Croagunk Crop!]]'' how James, as a boy, found {{TP|James|Carnivine}} in the [[Great Marsh]]. It was trapped in the mud and James rescued it, the two forming a bond of friendship. It is not shown how he {{pkmn2|caught|captured}} Weepinbell, but he had owned it for a long period of time before its first appearance. The capture of a {{p|Cacnea}} early in Hoenn furthered his apparent preference for Grass-types. Often, when going into battle, his Grass Pokémon will show great affection towards James. It is also shown there is a strong bond between James and his other Pokémon; James almost treats them as his own children. This could stem from the childhood memories he occasionally brings up, where it is shown that while growing up James hadn't really had any friends other than his Pokémon. When it comes time to leave a Pokémon behind for one reason or another, James often has great difficulty in letting go of his beloved friends.

Often having to take part in numerous lessons and activities he had little to no interest in, he eventually began to grow weary of the rules and standards that appeared to be ever-present within the upper-class. At a young age, he was forcefully engaged to a girl of whom he was terrified, [[Jessiebelle]], all because [[James' parents|his parents]] wanted to have a wealthy daughter-in-law. Soon after the engagement was announced, James, not able to stand Jessiebelle's controlling personality, ran away from home, leaving behind his beloved pet [[Growlie]]. He attempted to enroll in [[Pokémon Tech]], a {{pkmn|Trainer}}'s school, but, along with his new friend [[Jessie]], flunked out. Then, with Jessie, he joined the [[Sunny Town]] bicycle gang, where he was popular for being the only gang member to have to use training wheels (nicknamed "Trainer Jim"). Eventually James, Jessie, and the bike gang went their separate ways.

Due to conflicts in canon between [[Kanto]] and [[Johto]] episodes and the special episode ''[[H012|Training Daze]]'', what happened between James and Jessie after the bike gang is unknown. What ''is'' known, as shown in the special episode, is that they joined Team Rocket separately and were on initially unfriendly terms after being grouped with {{MTR}}. However, they quickly made up and the rest is history.

Since he is proficient in several activities, including Pokémon haiku and [[PokéRinger]], it is possible that he developed his skills during his temporary separation from Jessie, or even from the many lessons he was enrolled in as a child, but this is not known for sure.

Perhaps due to his heavily enforced, sheltered upbringing, as well as the constant harassment that he had to endure from Jessiebelle, James has an odd, somewhat submissive personality. He, along with Meowth, are frequently subjected to the consequences of Jessie's wrath, and James in particular often does nothing about it. He will regularly comply to whatever ideas the other two come up with, and when he doesn't, usually ends up doing so anyway, like when he was forced to trade his {{TP|James|Victreebel}} away. He also seems to be the most emotional amongst the Team Rocket trio, and if the three should ever happen to get separated, seems very lost without his companions.

In the episode ''[[EP048|Holy Matrimony!]]'', James returned to his home as a result of a trap by his parents, who pretended to be dead in order to get him to come back to the estate, knowing he would return to pay his respects. After the deception was revealed, he was once again subjected to Jessiebelle's affliction until Growlie came to his rescue. After temporarily chasing Jessiebelle away, James soon left his family's manor and as a result declined his inheritance. Growlie stayed behind upon James' request when he returned to Jessie and Meowth.

James has a tendency to be swindled by a [[Magikarp Salesman]], who, despite James's increasing wariness and personal vendetta against the shady character, has on many occasions tricked him into buying a Magikarp or other useless Pokémon and items for large sums of money.

James also has a [[List of Team Rocket's disguises|tendency to cross-dress]], but has not done it since ''[[AG050|Pros and Con Artists]]'', with the exception of the occasional impersonation of characters such as [[Nurse Joy]]'s and [[Officer Jenny]]'s. In fact, [[DP146]] marks the first time he cross dresses in the [[Diamond and Pearl]] anime series, though it was him disguised as [[Jessie]]. He also often dresses up like famous celebrities as well, such as [[Professor Oak]], [[Juan]], and [[Norman]], and impersonates other non-human objects, including Pokémon, animals, and even bushes and trees.

James loves rare bottle caps and has an impressive collection of them. This hobby started when he was a young child. In the episode ''[[EP184|All That Glitters!]]'' it is revealed that he has "drunk enough soda pop to float an aircraft carrier".

For unknown reasons, he, Jessie and Meowth mostly use [[Transportation in Pokémon|hot air balloons]] instead of faster ways of transportation. However in newer episodes the balloon is shown with 'jets' attached to explain how they get from one place to another faster than walking

As the standards of the Team Rocket organization dictated, James was first shown with a Poison-type Pokémon. However, James seems to have a fondness for carnivorous {{type2|Grass}} [[Pokémon]], owning {{p|Weepinbell}}, {{p|Victreebel}}, and {{p|Carnivine}}. It was shown during a flashback in ''[[DP082|Cream of the Croagunk Crop!]]'' how James, as a boy, found {{TP|James|Carnivine}} in the [[Great Marsh]]. It was trapped in the mud and James rescued it, the two forming a bond of friendship. It is not shown how he {{pkmn2|caught|captured}} Weepinbell, but he had owned it for a long period of time before its first appearance. The capture of a {{p|Cacnea}} early in Hoenn furthered his apparent preference for Grass-types. Often, when going into battle, his Grass Pokémon will show great affection towards James. It is also shown there is a strong bond between James and his other Pokémon; James almost treats them as his own children. This could stem from the childhood memories he occasionally brings up, where it is shown that while growing up James hadn't really had any friends other than his Pokémon. When it comes time to leave a Pokémon behind for one reason or another, James often has great difficulty in letting go of his beloved friends.

Leaving the template open might encourage both move wars and edit warring on the template, both over very minor differences in translation. :Furthermore, how is listing {{pa|Beyond the Sea}} under [[Sinnoh]] "confusing"? As far as I can tell, there's no way it should be confusing anyone with more than half a brain cell (and that half a brain cell isn't out shopping). :Magmortar: Yeah, I agree. Its purpose was pretty much to replace {{TP|Ash|Chimchar}} as [[Paul]]'s {{t|Fire}}-type, so it probably was caught within Paul's home [[country]] of [[Sinnoh]].
:Lickitung: Unfortunately, it's difficult to trace the exact course the anime took between the {{gy|Fuchsia}} and [[Cinnabar Gym]]s. Simply put, it could have quite literally been anywhere in the country of [[Kanto]], aside from probably {{is|Seafoam}} since there wasn't much seafaring until the episode where the gang arrived at {{is|Cinnabar}}. The fact that [[EP052|Lickitung's capture episode]] was reordered on both sides of the Pacific is a moot point in this case, since about the only thing the reordering ''didn't'' mess with is the between-badge timeframes (the pre-[[EP038|seizure episode]] schedule suggestions, the episode's timeframe, the actual Japanese airdate for the episode, and even the episode's reordered place in the dub all put it between {{ci|Fuchsia}} and Cinnabar).

== Synopsis ==
{{Ash}} {{ashfr|and company}} have finally arrived in [[Porta Vista]], a beachside tourist town. Wasting no time, Ash, [[Brock]] and {{AP|Pikachu}} change into swimsuits and jump into the ocean. [[Misty]] arrives a few minutes later, also in a swimsuit, and Ash stares at her. She asks why he's looking at her, and he cracks that "It's unusual to see you looking like a girl!" This earns him a beach ball to the face by an angry Misty.

[[Team Rocket]], still using their {{p|Gyarados}} submarine spy on beachgoers from their vantage point underwater. They decide to steal the money of the wealthy tourists. Suddenly, [[Jessie]] notices a speeding boat heading in their direction. The boat is piloted by Brock, who thought Ash borrowed it because Pikachu was on the boat. The boat collides with the sub and eventually crashes into a dock. [[Moe]], the owner of the boat, comes out to survey the damage. Ash volunteers that he, Brock and Misty will work to help pay the cost of repairing the boat and the dock. Moe agrees to this.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket's sub has washed up onto a private beach and they're greeted by a woman named [[Brutella]]. [[James]] asks if they can work for her restaurant to help pay for repairs to their sub, and she agrees. Later, it's revealed that both Moe and Brutella are restaurateurs and rivals. For a while, Brutella's restaurant has more customers and James taunts Ash and his friends over this. Ash decides to have his Pokémon help out as well. {{AP|Squirtle}} and Pikachu are told to hand out fliers advertising Moe's; {{AP|Pidgeotto}} and {{AP|Charmander}} are to help keep the grill going in the kitchen, and {{AP|Bulbasaur}} is assigned to help Misty do her waitressing duties. This works well until {{MTR}} sabotages everything (including throwing banana peels on the floor to trip Misty up) and the crowd leaves Moe's restaurant for Brutella's. Ash apologizes for messing everything up.

Brutella arrives with Team Rocket a few minutes later and tells Moe that he needs to pay her the money he owes her. If he's unable to pay, she'll take his boat as payment. Moe is despondent, as he doesn't think he'll have the money by tomorrow. He explains that he'd planned to take a world cruise in his boat. Ash encourages him not to give up on his dream.

Then, two familiar faces appear: [[Professor Oak]] and [[Delia Ketchum]]. Ash is surprised to see both of them. Professor Oak explains that the Beach Beauty and Pokémon Costume Contest is set to start shortly, and he suggests handing out fliers to the audience. He also suggests that Misty enter and (hopefully) win some prize money to help out Moe. Ash releases Pidgeotto, who blankets the beach and town with fliers. Soon, Moe's restaurant is full again, much to Brutella's dismay.

As the contest begins, Moe sits with Delia and Professor Oak. He explains how Ash encouraged him not to give up on his dream. Delia says that she and the professor are in town with the [[Pallet Town]] Volunteer Patrol. The contest begins, with Brock as emcee. Misty is the first contestant, and she uses her Starmie and Ash's Squirtle to form a UFO. Team Rocket's Ekans and Koffing are next, and they're costumed as an Omastar. They're kicked off the stage by [[Gary Oak]] and his [[Gary's cheerleaders|cheerleaders]], who are apparently the next contestants. Gary grabs the microphone from Brock and insults Ash, who jumps out of his seat and heads for the stage.

Meanwhile, Brutella tells Jessie and James that she knows they're Team Rocket members and that she's fixed their submarine. She blackmails them into stopping the contest so that the audience will come to her restaurant. Jessie tells Brutella that they can destroy things without even trying.

Back onstage, Ash challenges the always-cocky Gary to a {{pkmn|battle}}, but Gary refuses, stating that he doesn't want to battle an amateur trainer. Brock steps between the two rivals before Ash's anger gets the best of him. Just then, the Gyarados submarine explodes from the water, causing panic. People run away, thinking that it's a real {{p|Gyarados}} on a rampage. Ash grabs the microphone and tells the remaining frightened audience members that it's a [[Team Rocket's Mechas|mecha]], not a Pokémon. Team Rocket then fire a missile from the sub. Gary looks at Ash, who sends out Pidgeotto and Charmander. Charmander's {{m|Flamethrower}} attack hits the missile, which turns and changes course: straight for the submarine! Team Rocket pedal furiously to get away, but they crash into Brutella's restaurant, which is then destroyed by the missile.

Ash and his friends say farewell to Moe, who is heading off on his long-awaited cruise. Ash also says goodbye to Professor Oak and his mother, who is holding a trophy inscribed with the words: "First Place in Our Hearts: Ash Ketchum."

* Of the 4 banned episodes that have aired on Japanese television, this is the first one that was banned in all countries outside of Japan. The reason why it was banned was because there is a scene halfway into the episode where James crossdresses and wears inflatable breasts for a beauty contest. Although intended for comic effect, the intense sexual nature of the scene caused so much controversy that the whole episode was banned for almost 3 years, until it was aired as an edited version titled "The Lost Episode" in 2000. The ending of this episode was shown as a flashback in ''[[EP027|Hypno's Naptime]]'', but this was not edited out of the dub, even during which time this episode was (and still is) banned. Another reason why this episode was banned was because there were many sexual references throughout this episode.

'''Eric Stuart''' is a voice actor for the English-language dub of the [[Pokémon anime]]. His most famous voices are those of [[Brock]] and [[James]].

==Biography==
Eric Stuart, the son of a criminal attorney and a modern dancer, grew up in {{wp|Brooklyn}}. He was born October 18, 1967. He formed his first band at age 14, inspired by his music teacher. He learned to play the guitar in eighth grade, and was writing and recording songs by the tenth grade. Before graduating high school, he had recorded over 40 original songs.

After high school, Stuart worked as a production assistant and played shows in the New York City area. As his career continued, he and his band went on to open for such famous acts such as {{wp|Chicago (band)|Chicago}}, {{wp|Ringo Starr|Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band}}, {{wp|Lynyrd Skynyrd}}, {{wp|Jethro Tull}}, and {{wp|Peter Frampton}}.

==Pokémon roles==
Eric Stuart's most famous roles on Pokémon are that of [[Brock]] and [[James]]. Stuart admits that along with Gourry Gabriev from {{wp|Slayers}}, James is his favorite character that he has played. However, he also says that he is most like Brock.

In addition to providing voices for the series, Stuart has worked as a voice director on the English dubs of both Pokémon and {{wp|Yu-Gi-Oh!}}.

When [[4Kids Entertainment|4Kids]] gave up their dubbing license in 2005, Eric Stuart left the series along with most of the other voice actors who worked with that company.

In the {{PUSA}} dub, his main roles were taken over by [[Bill Rogers]] and [[Billy Beach]].

"In the Japanese raw, Moe tells Misty that things will get fun when she's "8 years older" which implies that she's twelve (as the age of sexual consent is 20 years old in Japan). However, she stated that her age was actually 10 years old in Ash Catches a Pokémon (though he may have mistook her age). " Every source i've read says the age of consent in Japan is 13, but thats been overridden by prefectures to make the age of consent 18, including Kanto. Is it notable to mention that the short and long version are recorded differently? Like, the short one has different notes and parts than the longer version... which means they were recorded separately. And thats extremely uncommon with these kinds of songs, where the short version is usually just a cut version of the long version.
