Nintendo Network is a service run by Nintendo that allows users to be matched up with other players and play games with each other. It is used by games for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It is the successor to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

Features
Friend Codes
Friend Code
The Nintendo 3DS family requires every user to have an online ID attached to a Friend Code. It is generated during set up of the 3DS and remains unless the 3DS is formatted. It is used to identify other players on online play along. This feature was also used for the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Buying games
<!--The Wii (U) allowed players to buy WiiWare and Virtual Console games from the Wii Shop Channel. Players had to use Nintendo Points, which were bought with real money.-->

The Nintendo 3DS allows players to use the Nintendo eShop. The Nintendo eShop contains games for the 3DS, as well as List of DSiWare games and applications games from the DSi Shop. "Ambassadors," people who bought a 3DS before the price reduction, were allowed to download 20 select games and a certificate for free.<!-- Was this for the Wi-Fi Connection or the Nintendo Network? Does it even go on here or on the eShop page?-->

<!--==In the games==
Pokémon X and Y were the first games to utilize the Nintendo Network.

Researching this effect
I've did some experimentation with this ability and can confirm the following points:

* Using status moves (e.g. Double Team) also triggers the ability.
* If you use Hidden Power, the user's type changes to the actual type of the move - not Normal (and in the case of my specific Greninja, Flying). So Hidden Power gets STAB too.
* A dual-typed Pokemon (e.g. Greninja) becomes single-typed after the ability activates; neither original type is retained. (Proven: Found a wild Liepard and used Double Team to become Normal. Liepard's Assurance was subsequently not resisted, as would be expected if Greninja retained the Dark typing.)
* Negating the ability does not reset the user's type; the new type remains in effect until changed or swapped out. (Proven: Attempted Shadow Sneak on an Audino and subsequently became Ghost. Audino responded with Entrainment, but was still unable to damage my Pokemon with any Normal moves.)

The article was mistaken on points 2 and 3; I've fixed that. --Stratelier 19:28, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

I know this is kind of an obvious observation, but...
What if Protean activated after the move selected was used? Wouldn't that mean that they wouldn't receive STAB for that move unless they used it a second time?--IM-T-MAN2 (talk) 08:06, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Effect
In battle
Snow Warning summons a hailstorm in battle as soon as a Pokémon with Snow Warning enters the battle. Its effects are the same as Hail but, instead of lasting for five turns, it lasts for the whole battle until replaced. If a Pokémon with Snow Warning is sent out in the same turn as another Pokémon whose Ability affects the weather, the slower Pokémon's Ability will override the faster Ability.

Generation VI
In Generation VI, the hail will last only for five turns instead. This can be extended to eight turns if the Pokémon is holding an Icy Rock.

Outside of battle
Snow Warning has no effect outside of battle.

Effect
In battle
Stance Change allows Aegislash to switch between Blade Forme and Shield Forme. It changes to Blade Forme when using an attacking move, and reverts to Shield Forme when using King's Shield or any move that increases its Defense or Special Defense, such as Iron Defense. Other status moves will not change its form.

Stance Change cannot be Traced, Role Played, suppressed with Gastro Acid, or replaced with Simple Beam or Skill Swap. The Ability activates prior to and independently of any checks for status conditions that may stop the execution of the user's attack, such as paralysis or confusion.

Outside of battle
It is unknown if Stance Change has an effect outside of battle.
