'''Yancy''' (Japanese: '''ルリ''' ''Ruri''), otherwise known under the screen name '''Nancy''' (Japanese: '''ルッコ''' ''Rukko''), is a character that appears in {{2v2|Black|White|2}} if the {{player}}'s gender is male. She is the female counterpart to [[Curtis]].

==In the games==
Yancy is first encountered after the male player picks up the {{key|V|Dropped Item}} ([[Xtransceiver]]) in [[Nimbasa City]]. Upon obtaining the item, Yancy calls it from an old phone and identifies herself as the owner of the lost Xtransceiver. However she is busy at work and is unable to retrieve it at the time, so she asks the male player to hold onto it until she is free from work.

Yancy will call her Xtransceiver when the male player is in specific locations around [[Unova]]. Yancy will slowly learn about the player through her initial nine calls. What she learns about him is based on what the player answered in the [[Passerby Analytics HQ]] surveys in [[Castelia City]]. At the tenth call, Yancy would inform the player that she is finally free from work and would like to retrieve her [[Xtransceiver]] back in [[Nimbasa City]]. It is here that Yancy meets the male player for the first time as her initial calls were audio only so neither knew what each other looked like. She gratefully takes her Xtransceiver back and exchanges numbers with the male player as she wishes to talk to him more.

After returning her Xtransceiver, the game will randomly select one of the 15 areas that she calls him initially and the male player can call her from anywhere in that area. The area will change every subsequent time she is called or the game is loaded, whether she is talked to or not, but sometimes, the male player can even call multiple times while in the same area. From the 11th through 19th calls, Yancy tells the male player more about herself. Calls twenty through twenty-nine, Yancy will ask the male player for advice or opinions about things. After the 30th call, Yancy will ask the player to ride at the Rondez-View Ferris Wheel with her. After the first call of every next day, Yancy will ask the player for a Ferris Wheel ride, and if the player has entered the [[Hall of Fame]], she will offer to trade Pokémon after the ride. Pokémon traded from her have {{DL|Ability|Hidden Abilities}}, are at [[level]] 50, and have no predetermined [[nature]], [[gender]], or [[individual values]]. It is possible to receive multiples of the same species.

From the 31st through 49th calls (except the Ferris-Wheel-ride calls), Yancy will say any of a variety of things. On the 50th call, her co-worker will accidentally pick up the phone, revealing Yancy in her working outfit.

Yancy, as Nancy, appears in various television shows as a celebrity idol.

:''"Hey, <player>. When I was in a different region for work, I caught a <Pokémon>... Will you trade me one of your Pokémon? I'll take any Pokémon. I just want to trade!"''
::'''No''': ''"Oh. That's too bad. If we ever have another opportunity let's trade Pokémon, OK?"''
:''"Thanks for coming today. I was really happy you invited me. Being with you again has given me a lot of energy! A ha ha! Now I have energy for work! If you don't mind, I'd like it if you invite me again! Well I'd better get going! See you, <player>!"''
'''Whenever the male player calls her (after the thirtieth call)
:''"Ah, <player>! I'm...glad we can talk face-to-face. Ahaha!"''
'''Thirty-First Call'''
:''"Oh! Sorry, <player>. It's almost time for work... I have to hang up... So sorry... Talk to you soon."''
'''Thirty-Second Call'''
:''"Stop that! Hey! Sigh... Sorry... That was my sister and brother bothering me... They seem to get jealous when I talk to you, <player>. Ahaha! They are usually bratty, but I guess they can be cute sometimes. Arg! Hey, I said 'stop'! Sigh... Sorry, <player>. It seems that I have to spend time with them today... Talk to you soon."''
'''Thirty-Third Call'''
:''"I found this shop tat bakes really good cakes the other day. They bake things that taste mysterious. I've never tasted anything like them. Maybe we could go there together sometime soon... Oops! I have to get back to work. Talk to you soon."''

'''Thirty-Fourth Call'''
:''"I bought a Soda Pop from this vending machine the other day. Guess what! I got an extra as a bonus. It's great, isn't it? Have you got a bonus before, <player>? I would have shared it with you, had we been together then.. Oops! I have to get back to work. Talk to you soon."''
:''"Cough, cough. Sorry... I got a cold, it seems... Yeah... I'm really sorry. Cough... I guess so. I'll stay home and rest for now. But... Seeing your face should help me recover sooner, <player>. Ahaha! Talk to you soon."''

'''Thirty-Sixth Call'''
:''"The stars last night were so beautiful... Did you see them by any chance, <player>? I saw lots of shooting stars, too. It really was a pretty night. I saw so many that I made many wishes. What? Ahaha! I can't tell you what I wished for... Oops! I better get back to work! Talk to you soon."''

'''Thirty-Seventh Call'''
:''"I was using the Dowsing Machine the other day and got something really awesome. I gave it to my dad, and he was really pleased. I'm glad you told me about the Dowsing Machine a while ago, <player>! ...Oops! I better get back to work! Talk to you soon."''

'''Thirty-Eighth Call'''
:''(same as thirty-fourth call)''

'''Thirty-Ninth Call'''
:''"I went to the Battle Institute in Nimbasa City to take the Battle Test. I did a little better than the last time! I'll keep trying to get better results! ==In the manga==
===In the Pokémon Adventures manga===
Yancy first appears in [[Pokémon Adventures]] with her boyfriend, [[Rakutsu]]. Rakutsu breaks up with her as they both feel that their relationship is interfering with Yancy's career as an idol. Later, it is revealed that Rakutsu was dating her in order to find out whether or not she was a member of the previously defeated [[Team Plasma]]. After coming to a conclusion that she wasn't, Rakutsu crosses out both Yancy's name as well as her stage name, Nancy.

==Trivia==
*Starting with the thirtieth call, Yancy's sprite will begin to blush when talking on the Xtransceiver, implying she has developed feelings for the male player, just like her male counterpart, [[Curtis]], has for the female player.
*Yancy will occasionally talk about the other regions, which she's been to on business trips: [[Kanto]], [[Johto]], [[Hoenn]], and [[Sinnoh]].
**She will say something about the region, such as, "I went on a business trip to the [[Hoenn region]] the other day. They have many unique towns and cities. They really surprised me! Their famous [[Lava Cookie]] was really good too!"
**She mentions an item with each region, which will be held by her Pokémon from that region during trade.
Oh. And, um, make sure that glitches stay separate from normal Pokémon. Reference Pokémon pages, utilize template ''code'', but don't use the templates themselves. Now, I think the first thing we ought to do here is upload sprites of all the glitch Pokémon. Noticeably, several of these articles lack sprites, such as [[.4]], [[A (uppercase)]], [[3TrainerPoké]], and [[44Hy]]. We're also lacking proper sprites of [[MissingNo.]]'s other forms (Aerodactyl/Kabutops skeletons+ghost).
I will gladly test glitches, from minor to harmful on both emulators and cartridges, no matter the risk. I will try out glitches that require gameshark or ar. == Glitch Infobox? ==

While adding sprites to the glitch articles I noticed that some of the articles had the standard Pokémon infobox (with the categories removed), while others had none whatsoever. I also noticed that the majority of the infoboxes had "N/A" or "None" in most of the fields while the relevant information was in a list in the article itself. I propose that we make a seperate infobox for glitch Pokémon that includes relevant glitch-specific information (hexadecimal identifier, Pokédex number, equivalents in other versions, whether its Pokédex entry is terminated correctly, etc). Good idea? '''<code>[[User:Abwayax|abwayax]] ([[User talk:Abwayax|t]]/[[Special:Contributions/Abwayax|c]])</code>''' 20:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
:Seperate infobox, hm? I think it's a good idea.. like, instead of the regular stuff, it'd have the corresponding Mew glitch Special hex and stuff. :::I changed around the infobox slightly. Got rid of the "height" and "weight" and "species" stuff (that stuff is pretty much meaningless in terms of glitches) and replaced it with Hex ID and Version. When should we start placing this thing on the glitch articles? '''<code>[[User:Abwayax|abwayax]] ([[User talk:Abwayax|t]]/[[Special:Contributions/Abwayax|c]])</code>''' 20:32, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
:As you may have noticed I made separate type templates for the glitch infobox. The reason being is that the standard Pokémon type templates add the page to type categories, and consensus seems to dictate that we keep the glitch Pokémon seperate from the officially recognized ones (That and many of the glitch Pokémon have glitch types, which don't have real categories (ex. there is no Category: Pokémaniac-type Pokémon nor will there likely be one in future). '''<code>[[User:Abwayax|abwayax]] ([[User talk:Abwayax|t]]/[[Special:Contributions/Abwayax|c]])</code>''' 23:04, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
== Categorization ==

Okay. I've looked over a few articles and from what I can tell, the consensus within Bulbapedia is to '''not''' treat the glitch Pokémon as "real Pokémon". On the [[MissingNo.]] article there was actually an edit war with some people attempting to classify it as a "Pokémon", but from what I can tell the clear consensus is that MissingNo is not a "Pokémon". To that end, I modified the Template:GlitchPkmnInfobox so that it doesn't put the page in any Pokémon categories. However, recently MissingNo. was put into Category:Normal-type Pokémon again. Should it be acceptable to include glitches in the type categories? I'm only asking because I don't want to revert that edit and inadvertently start another edit war. '''<code>[[User:Abwayax|abwayax]] ([[User talk:Abwayax|t]]/[[Special:Contributions/Abwayax|c]])</code>''' 01:57, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
== Notability criteria ==

Here's something that's really been bugging me. Where exactly do we draw the line between a notable glitch Pokémon and a non-notable one? Obviously [[MissingNo.]] is notable, and apparently the 20-something other Gen I glitches listed are too... but what about the 120-something others that ''aren't''? Furthermore, should glitch items and attacks deserve pages? Even pages such as List of glitch items...? '''<code>[[User:Abwayax|abwayax]] ([[User talk:Abwayax|t]]/[[Special:Contributions/Abwayax|c]])</code>''' 03:43, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Here's what I think.

1st. gen: Any Glitch Pokémon you can obtain by any method that doesn't require a cheating device could be considered notable. Anything else, no.

2nd through 4th gen: Every Glitch Pokémon for these should be considered notable, as there are significantly less of them and even fewer obtainable w/o a cheating device.

But this is just my opinion.

Also, we should do something for the glitch moves, but as to what, I don't know. <small><span style="color:#FF0000">--</span>
:: Well, most of the Glitch Pokémon you say require a Cheating Device can be found when fighting a trainer using the Old Man Glitch. You see the Glitch pokemon when you fight the Trainer, you just need the Gameshark to capture it. In my opinion, we should document these glitches, and merely have a notice at the top that states how it can found without a Gameshark, but cannot be captured without one. If B óË ÁN, a glitch that basically does NOTHING can get its own article, why can't these glitches? --[[User:Boxman|Boxman]], a Guy who works with Glitches. 18:57, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

::Okay, so what you're saying is if a Glitch can't be caught because it crashes the game, it doesn't count? Surely if it can crash the game it is even glitchier than the ones that can't - how does that make it less of a Glitch Pokémon? It is still within the code of the game, it is still a Glitch, and it is still a Pokémon, ergo it should be considered equal to all other Glitches. == A proposal ==

I think that we should make the Glitch Pokémon articles titled in a way similar to the Pokémon articles. Example: "MissingNo." moved to "MissingNo. (Glitch Pokémon)"., ".4" moved to ".4 (Glitch Pokémon)", ect.. See the thing? This would be effective in stopping people from moving MissingNo. to MissingNo. (Pokémon), and stuff of that sort. I would also propose a link template like [[Template:P]]. Maybe <nowiki>{{gp|name}}</nowiki>. <small><span style="color:#FF0000">--</span>
::But you never know when you get the extreme Glitch Pokémon extremist who tries to do something like moving [[MissingNo.]] to [[MissingNo. (Pokémon)]]. True, I did at one point seriously consider doing so, but somehow forgot.
:::IMHO this is unnecessary. What would this suffix accomplish, in terms of disambiguation? The Pokémon articles are titled like that to disambiguate them versus articles on significant members of that species ([[Pikachu]] disambiguates to [[Pikachu (Pokémon)]] and [[Ash's Pikachu]]) since individual Pokémon usually don't have their own names (Ash's Pikachu is just called Pikachu, as are most of the Pikachu in the world). AFAIK "MissingNo." or ".4" wouldn't refer to anything else, and even if we did decide otherwise, making a template to link to them would be a bit excessive - ''how'' many times would we link to one of these articles in article space?'''<code>[[User:Abwayax|abwayax]] ([[User talk:Abwayax|t]]/[[Special:Contributions/Abwayax|c]])</code>''' 16:45, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
== Some things i discovered ==

I found two things. I'll say the least important first, shall I?

The glitch move "TM05" sharply raises your EVADE stat.

The more important may be noticed more, and you might decide to make an article on it, unless I do.

It's a Glitch Pokemon - [Lots of glitched symbols]g[Some more glitched symbols] (I like to call him ||-g) On first capture it is apparently like a Rhydon. On second or later capture, it is a powerful Glitch Pokemon that (on lvl 42) comes with Mega Punch, TM05, Fire Punch and Growl ( i think )

It only comes when you put in the code that is meant to make wild Togepis come in Pokemon Red/Blue. Koga will challenge you (for some reason). And he has 6 "||-g"'s All at Lvl 42.
*made an account just now, don't know if this is how I should have reported this so, sorry if I shouldn't have*
I can not give proper information as to how I performed this glitch because it occurred over 10 years ago on my Pokemon Red version. The glitch was that after placing a Meowth (which I had just traded over from my Blue version) into Bill's Pc, I scrolled my list of Pokemon inside the Pc (to withdraw one) and I continued to scroll past 'cancel' which brought me into a new list of unintelligible characters. Although unreadable and spreading outside of the list window I was still able to scroll normally over each slot. The list of characters was endless regardless of how long I scrolled and I could not go back into my real box. Clicking on one and looking at its stats would show either (from my searching of glitch pokemon) the 'japanese character' glitch pokemon or a mew within the random mix. Checking either's stats before withdrawing would crash my game after canceling my withdraw so I would be forced to take them. Both the glitch and the mew would be at level 100. When in my party the 'japanese character' glitch would become a Rhydon after 1 battle as well as level up to lv1. The mew would also level to 1 after 1 fight.
*This glitch would always and only occur on that one save file after depositing the meowth. I could not find a way to recreate on a new save file.

*What I can remember of how I caused the glitch to occur*
My game was completed and I had beaten the Elite Four numerous times (roughly 4-5 times).
I had just come onto the game after trading a Meowth from the Pokemon Blue version (which was still within my party).
After depositing the mewoth only, I would then chose to withdraw and I would scroll all the way down by holding the down button past 'cancel' (the arrow on screen would flash on 'cancel' a few times before scrolling into the glitch box).
I roughly remember the Meowth being just caught on the Blue version in the grass above the day care center (though I can not remember for certain)
Dual Fossil Glitch

in ruby/sapphire, you can obtain 1 of 2 fossils, of course. but, with a certain chain of events, we were able to secure both fossils in the same game. whats more is, we did it multiple times, with multiple copies of the game. w i dont remember the exact event chain. but it involves entering the devon corp, exiting, and a saving, but cutting off the power halfway through. we did this mulitple times. i vaguely remember it, but we had both fossils, in one go. i was shocked. im so sorry i cant remember what all we did, but would love to continue this expirement, as i believe that it could have an effect on items as well.. well if your interested, email me! william.alsup@live.com.'''
While I don't think I have much to contribute to the GlitchDex myself, I'm nonetheless very impressed by and interested in it. I've had many of the popular known glitches in Generation I under my belt for years now due to my morbid fascination, but only through this project discovered just how little I really knew. It's even crossed my mind to attempt a playthrough using a team of glitch Pokémon recently... however, I noticed that your Glitch Pokémon pages lack a section addressing the glitch species' positive and negative effects, and more importantly, any risks there may be to attempting to capture and use them. I'm aware that there are many glitch species there are completely harmless and others which are extremely lethal, and I don't think I'm the only one who would benefit from having this information available on each Glitch Pokémon's profile. If this has been mentioned and rejected for any reason before, I apologize for bringing it up. I just felt it might be worth suggesting. [[User:Xelrog T. Apocalypse|- Xelrog T.
The best way to do this is by Emu. Now, simply get AR codes regarding index no. (I won't list sites for warning prevention). Now, these AR codes have been made by looking at the index no. in the game data, so we can begin with Rhydon, and end with Victreebel. However, we want to go beyond those, we want to go to the index numbers which regenerate Trainers and Pokemon that freeze the game. Simply input said index code. Now, we input a code and begin catching.

However, as said, these freeze the game, and so are uncatchable, what do? You should input a "Catch Trainer Pokemon" code. Now, implying we are using Emus, we enable the Glitch Pokemon/Trainer ''you are going to catch, but freezes the game'' code and the Catch Trainer Pokemon code (total 2 codes). Now, outside of Battle, enter the bag and select a Poke Ball (preferably Master), and select "use"...

Now, see what just happened? What happens is that the used ball will perform a glitchy animation, and you will catch the aforementioned glich Poke. You can set levels to ensure Base Stats, and moves. I found many Glitch Pokemon like so, but I really cannot do anything. If any Bulbapedian wants to try, please do. If this is against the rules, ban me. I did everything I could, and this can potentially change the look of "Project Glitchdex". Thank you for reading.[[User:Blitzamirin|<span style="color:#399999"> ~ Blitzamirin ~ </span>]] 05:47, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
:Obtaining glitch Pokémon via cheating this way isn't really anything new, but if you are willing to obtain them all this way and get their base stats, movesets etc. then go ahead. We won't note that these glitches can be obtained by cheating on the pages though - that is just common sense, and only actual glitches count. What you're doing is just getting the end result of the [[Johto guard glitch]] or [[remaining HP glitch]] without bothering with the process.
:As for actually getting the data by obtaining the glitches this way, you would probably be able to do some reverse maths to find out their base stats by manipulating their IVs and changing their levels. Moves would be easy - just use Rare Candies to level through every level from 1 to 100, then use the AR to go to level 101 (meaning that we won't know what move it learns at level 101, which would need to be investigated the normal way) and leveling with Rare Candies through to level 255, since Pokémon can exceed level 100 due to the [[Pokémon merge glitch]]. --[[User:SnorlaxMonster|<span style="color:#A70000">'''Snorlax'''</span>]][[User talk:SnorlaxMonster|<span style="color:#0000A7">'''Monster'''</span>]] 06:15, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
:Munchlax might count. It has an index number and it's still a Normal-type in XD, but it can't be used in battle and doesnt have a battle model (only an overworld model). i recently was playing my platnum game with the action replay and my friend told me to breed my duskull with my porygon. well i got 5 eggs after 1 hour. so after about a week, all the eggs hached. the first 2 were normal male duskulls, the seconed 2 were shiny female duskulls, and the fith egg hatched into something odd.it had the face of a duskull but with a green eye, and its body was a glowing hexagon.its name registered as duskull, but i've decided to call it digiskull(as in digital duskull)it only knows 2 moves, thunderbolt & nightshade, and when ever it battles a metal type or electric type, it instantly deals 50% damage. {{unsigned|Mailjesuru7}}
== Notability ==

What are the notability requirements for glitch Pokémon in each generation? It seems that this is the way:
* Generation I: All glitch Pokémon that are available without cheating
* Generation II: All are notable, because they are all glitch Pokémon that are available without cheating
* Generation III: All glitch Pokémon that are available with and without cheating
* Generation IV: All glitch Pokémon that are available with and without cheating
* Generation V: All glitch Pokémon that are available with and without cheating
But [[Talk:Glitch Pokémon#Needs New Pokemon|this discussion]] has brought up many new "glitch Pokémon" which are simply Pokéstar Studios Pokémon. I used an action replay with the following cheats:
-Wild Pokemon Modifier
-[UK]900x Item Slot 1 (items bag part)
Then:
1. I activated the Pokemon modifier cheat (slot 1: 649 Masterballs (pokemon); slot 2: 100 Ultra Balls (Level))
2. Activated the 900x Item Slot 1 Cheat (slot 1: 900 Masterballs)
3. Tossed Masterballs to leave it equal to "650"
This article is about the glitches involving the [[Coin Case]] in {{v|Gold and Silver|s}}. They all involve listening to a Pokémon's [[cry]] then immediately using the Coin Case. Depending on the Pokémon's cry listened to, one of several effects will be activated; either the game will restart with an altered color scheme and possibly blocks of color placed on the screen ("Glitch Dimension" and "Shadow Puppets"), the game will freeze, or "Coin Case:" and a glitch phrase will be displayed ("which move?he PP of", etc.).
"‡" (double daggers) by an effect means that a special version of the "Glitch Dimension" is started, dubbed "Shadow Puppets" or called the "Shadow Puppet Effect".
== Display Alterations ==

===Glitch Dimension===

When accessed, the game restarts in what appears as an altered color scheme. This is particularly evident in the beginning cutscene/intro movie. The entire (apparently) game can be played as normal. When the player talks to a character, gets on his bike, goes through a door/portal, opens the menu, or does any other action affecting his sprite (though not necessarily changing it), a purple block is generated depending on the position of the player. At other times, seemingly randomly, blocks of color will be generated. For example, after flying to Cinnabar Island and Surfing downwards, the water will be blue, red and green in different places. Battles will be conducted with the colors of the HP bar, names, Pokémon, and Trainers altered, and with blocks of purple. Interestingly, the blocks seem to slide across the screen as the battle begins (at the point where the stat areas and Trainer slide into view). In towns, houses, routes, etc., blocks of color can be made to disappear by moving so that they move off-screen. The blocks appear to not be just a display problem, because they scroll with the map. This is apparently caused by the game thinking that it is being played on a Classic Game Boy.

When a [[Cheating#Cheating_devices|cheating device]] is used to walk through objects, in some cases where the game does not [[Game freeze|freeze]] when the player walks out of the {{tt|game|When you walk past formatted boundaries, such as into the black space inside a house.}}, the game will restart in a "clean" glitch dimension where the background of the title screen is grey and has no blocky effects. Gameplay will be virtually the same, the only difference being; when a person is talked to, glitch dimension blocks will appear.

===Shadow Puppets===

The screen is white, except for sprites and the Game Freak Logo in the beginning. The sprites are either black, an extremely darkened version of themselves, or dark blue. Sometimes an already-dark sprite will become white. Sprites with areas of high contrast (near black near white combinations) will appear partially black and partially white. Menus do not appear, but it is possible to navigate through them by memory. When viewing the PokéGear only an arrow pointing upwards is visible in the upper-left corner. During battles, the images of the Pokémon are not visible, but the blacked-out move graphics are. The specific cause of this is unknown, but is probably related to the cause of the Glitch Dimension.
