** In , Mandibuzz is also one of five non-legendary Pokémon in the Unova Dex that is not used by any in-game Trainer outside of the Battle Subway and Battle Institute. The other four are its Vullaby, Ferrothorn, Rufflet and Zweilous.

Origin
Mandibuzz is based on an Old World Vulture or the California Condor. Her design also bears resemblance to stereotypical "savages" or barbarians. The row of teeth around her waist resembles an apron.

According to interviews with Ken Sugimori in Nintendo Dream, Vullaby and Mandibuzz were added late into the development of Black and White. When Mandibuzz was originally created by James Turner, it was unrelated to Braviary, but it was later decided to use its design as a counterpart to Braviary.

Name origin
Mandibuzz may be a combination of mandil and buzzard. It may also refer to mandible.

Vulgina may be a combination of vulture and either regina (Latin for queen), or gyno- (A prefix from the Greek, γυνή, meaning relating to women).

Miles of The Riches also has a Braviary in his roster -- however it seems nobody has a Mandibuzz or Vullaby. This would make Mandibuzz the only version-exclusive evolutionary family (at least in Unova) which players of the opposite version cannot acquire on the GTS. Dream World notwithstanding, the only way to acquire one in Pokemon White version is by negotiating a trade with another live player (either locally, or by GTS Negotiations).

...Which, in my case, took several hours of assorted negotiations before I found someone offering up a Mandibuzz. A bit of a headache ... but ultimately with a happy ending. --Stratelier 07:27, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
::What? Just like Cyndaquil and others in HG/SS, then. What was that rumour I heard a year ago about something being done about that kind of GTS malfunction, then? Adding a trainer would work, but the specific rumour was on some change to the GTS, like scrapping the requirement at some point. PLA 14:25, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
:: But Cyndaquil is a starter Pokémon, so the fact that you don't encounter one under ownership of an NPC is relatively understandable (Kanto and Sinnoh seem to be the only regions where NPC trainers have starter Pokémon) -- Vullaby/Mandibuzz are ordinary Pokémon you can encounter in the wild, yet there are no NPCs with one in their roster, and unlike (say) Zorua, there are no NPCs who will give you a free Pokédex sighting of it either. --Stratelier 05:20, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
Rivals
Has nobody seen that Braviary and Mandibuzz rivals are. By leveling up they learn there moves on the same level has four start moves and are not catchable in the same game. Braviary is only catchable in White and Mandibuzz only in Black. Can somebody add this to the trivia--Nazirbashir 07:50, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
:First of all, they aren't "rivals" unless their behavior suggests it. Zangoose and Seviper are rivals, but these aren't unless a dex entry or something confirms that they treat each other as such. However, they could be considered counterparts—they have parallel base stat totals, movesets, evolutionary lines, and on top of that are version exclusives for opposing games—and that is something which could go on the page. However, the only place that would fit is trivia, and seeing as the addition of trivia is currently prohibited, that edit's going to have to wait. --AndyPKMN (talk) 12:37, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
:I'm not so sure. For the Japanese, the word 'vagina' might not seem so inappropriate. I'd also postulate that the name might come from 'gyno', a prefix from the Greek, meaning 'relating to women', as in 'gynecology'. That seems more likely than 'regina', seeing as Mandibuzz is a little too savage to be called Queenly. --Batmong (talk) 19:29, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

*Glaceon when leveled up near an Ice Rock (Generation IV onward)

Eevee is the starter Pokémon for the main character of Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. It is also the starter Pokémon for the rival in Yellow, although Professor Oak originally intended to give it to the player.

Biology
Eevee has an irregular genetic code and can sometimes evolve in accordance with its environment. Seven evolutions for this Pokémon have been discovered so far. Three of these evolutions are the result of Eevee being exposed to either a Fire Stone, Thunderstone or Water Stone. Two more of the evolutions involve maximum affection with the Trainer and are determined by the time of day. The final two evolutions are the result of training in two specific areas, Eterna Forest and Pinwheel Forest, and 217 and Twist Mountain.

Physiology
Eevee is a mammalian creature with brown fur, a bushy tail that has a cream-colored tip, and a furry collar that is also cream-colored. It has four short, feline-esque legs with three small toes on each foot. Eevee has brown eyes, big ears, and pink paw pads. It has traits of rabbits, raccoons, foxes, dogs, and cats.
Gender differences
No gender differences are known.

Special abilities
Most of Eevee's offensive moves are Normal-type attacks such as Tackle and Quick Attack, but it can also bite its opponents and use Shadow Ball. However, it is unique in that it is unable to learn most other elemental attacks that other normal-types can utilize, at least not in its current state. Eevee can also learn supportive moves such as Helping Hand and Wish. Eevee is one of few Pokémon that can learn Trump Card. Some Eevee have the ability Adaptability, which makes any Normal-type attack that they use become stronger than when used by any other Normal-type Pokémon whose attack power is the same as Eevee's. Eevee is said to have an irregularly shaped genetic structure, enabling it to evolve into multiple Pokémon. This code may also shed some light on one of its abilities, Adaptability.

Behavior
Eevee's behavior can be affected by its surroundings. Eventually, with enough alteration, the Eevee may evolve to better suit its surroundings. According to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Eevee has a naive personality, meaning childlike, playful, and friendly. In the anime, Eevee don't appear to have any characteristic quirks but are usually affectionate, loyal and fairly energetic Pokémon.

Habitat
Eevee are quite rare in the wild. They sometimes live near cities and towns. It is possible for Eevee to live almost anywhere, and they may evolve to suit their surroundings. It was first documented in Kanto, but has been seen in Johto and Sinnoh.

Other
Eevee first appeared in The Battling Eevee Brothers. A little boy named Mikey was hiding the Evolution Pokémon from his three older brothers because they wanted him to evolve it. However, when Mikey's Eevee single-handedly defeated Team Rocket, Sparky, Rainer, and Pyro were able to accept the fact that Mikey wanted to keep his Eevee just the way it is.

Sakura had an Sakura in Trouble's Brewing. By the time Ash and co. met up with Sakura again in Espeon Not Included, her Eevee had evolved into an Espeon.

An Eevee appeared in A Rivalry to Gible On!.

Two Eevee appeared in Last Call, First Round!, under the ownership of Ursula. Both of them evolved during her performance, into a Vaporeon and a Flareon.

Minor appearances
Ritchie consulted Professor Oak on advice on what evolved form is best for his Eevee. However this was only mentioned in the dub and it is unknown whether he owns an Eevee in the Japanese version.

An Eevee was used by one of the students of the Pokémon Trainer's School in Gonna Rule The School!.
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Vee
An Eevee is seen as a Pokémon experimented on by Team Rocket, in their tests to attempt merging Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres into a single Pokémon. The experiments gave Eevee the characteristic of being able to mutate into three of its evolved forms, namely Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon and revert, though it still requires the energies of an Evolutionary Stone. Red eventually captures this Eevee as a prerequisite for challenging Erika. When it evolved into Espeon, however, it lost its mutation ability and became unable to revert to its base form.

Another Eevee was seen under the ownership of Karen, during her childhood as one of the children captured by the Masked Man. It is presumed that this Eevee eventually evolves into her Umbreon, which she used to fight Green.
As adaptable a Pokémon as any yet discovered, Eevee's evolutionary progress changes to meet the conditions of its environment. ==Trivia==
* Fans have come up with a term to refer to all Pokémon which evolve from Eevee: Eeveelutions. This term was later used officially in the TCG.
* Eevee and its evolutions all have a catch rate of 45.
* In Pokémon Ranger, all of Eevee's evolutions up to the third generation can be captured; however, Eevee cannot even be found at all. This was changed in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia.
* Eevee's name is a palindrome; it shares this distinction with Girafarig, Ho-Oh and Alomomola.
* Eevee and Tyrogue are the only Pokémon that can evolve into more than two Pokémon, if Wormadam's alternate forms are not counted as separate Pokémon.
* Eevee is one of only three Pokémon with two non-hidden abilities that evolves into a Pokémon with only one non-hidden ability. The other two are Trapinch and Sneasel.
* Despite the fact that May, Gary and Sakura each owned an Eevee that went on to evolve, an evolution of an Eevee was never seen on screen in the anime until DP174 when Ursula evolved her two Eevee into Flareon and Vaporeon during a contest appeal, over thirteen years into the series.
* During Generation I, Eevee was the only Pokémon that could evolve into more than one species. With the release of other branched evolutions in Generation II, its distinction is the number of Pokémon which it can evolve into.
* Diamond are the only main series games where Eevee are found in the wild. When it is caught, it knows four status moves.
* All of Eevee's evolutions so far have had their elemental type be one whose moves were formerly governed solely by the Special Attack stat. The only formerly all-special elemental type not covered is Dragon.
* Eevee is one of only two Pokémon to change its type completely upon evolution. The other is Azurill.
* Eevee and Feebas are the only Pokémon that can evolve into a single stage through multiple methods in the main series. Feebas can evolve into Milotic when leveled up with maximum Beauty or when traded while holding the Prism Scale; Eevee can evolve into Espeon or Umbreon when leveled up with maximum happiness during the day or night, respectively, or via Sun Shard or Moon Shard, respectively.
** However, some Pokémon evolve through abnormal means in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, including four of Eevee's evolutions.
* It is fitting that Eevee's Hidden Ability is Anticipation, as most people with a Dream World Eevee will be using it in anticipation of its evolutions' abilities.

Origin
Eevee shares traits with foxes, more specifically the Fennec fox, dogs and cats. It is possibly based on the folklore of Tanuki, who is said to be able to transform and is the alternative name for the Japanese raccoon dog. It may also be based on the concept of dog breeding and the multitude of variations that arose from it. It may also be based on the fox's ability to adapt to extreme environments, like the desert fox and the arctic fox.

Name origin
Eevee's name is a pronunciation of E-V, the first two letters in the word evolution. Eevee was originally going to be called "Eon," the suffix of all the evolutions of Eevee, which probably is a shortening of "evolution".
Walrein (Japanese: トドゼルガ Todoseruga) is a dual-type Pokémon.

It evolves from Sealeo starting at level 44. It is the final form of Spheal.

Biology
Physiology
Walrein is a large, blubbery pinniped-like Pokémon, primarily blue in coloration with white accentuation. Walrein has two long, yellow walrus-like tusks, of which it uses extensively to fight and shatter ice. Walrein’s irises are also yellow, and it has large, white-colored features, somewhat resembling sea foam in shape, extending from the sides of its head like a mane. Its head is also white, with a round, somewhat pig-like blue nose. Walrein has white patterning around its neck in the form of two encircling stripes, and its short tail also has white creases.

Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Walrein, and its evolution family, Spheal and Sealeo, are the only known Pokémon that can learn Ice Ball.

Walrein are very strong and mighty; their thick Thick Fat can hold off an enormous amount of attacks, and reduce damage dealt by Fire-type moves. Their tough tusks can break through the thickest and heaviest ice.

Behavior
Walrein live in large groups near the shore with their pre-evolved forms. These groups are always led by the largest male Walrein who acts as the beachmaster. Fighting for dominance among males can get pretty fierce, and many are the male Walrein who bear scars from challenging the beachmaster and losing.

Habitat
Walrein live in the arctic seas.

Diet
Pokémon food
Walrien most likely hunt for food underwater, like Sealeo.

In the anime
Major appearances
A Walrein has also appeared in Training Wrecks, under the ownership of Rocky. Walrein battled Ash's Pikachu and Grovyle, alongside a Quagsire. Before Grovyle could attack Quagsire with its Leaf Blade Walrein would attack Grovyle with its Ice Ball. Pikachu defeated Walrein in the end while Grovyle took care of Quagsire.

Walrein was Katie's final Pokémon while battling Ash in A Judgment Brawl. The Ice Break Pokémon defeated Ash's Swellow, and Corphish (the latter was already tired out from battling Katie's Golduck), and was defeated by Ash's Grovyle.

Minor appearances
A large group of Spheal, Sealeo and Walrein are seen at the beginning of Destiny Deoxys.

In the manga
Walrein first appears in VS. Walrein. It was used by Archie to battle against Maxie, and later when ironically fighting alongside the Magma Leader against Ruby and Sapphire, though they are able to exploit the two leader's weakness of taking little notice of each other's presence and easily win. A few more volumes later, in the climax of the Ruby & Sapphire, Archie sends out several more Walrein alongside Maxie's multiple Houndoom to buy time for the two to escape, but are thwarted.

Much later, under the guise of Guile Hideout, the same Team Aqua leader sends out a Walrein that is easily beaten by Poli alongside his Masquerain (beaten by Polibo).
Origin
Walrein is based on a walrus.

Name origin
Walrein's name may be a combination of walrus and a misspelling of reign, or perhaps rain. Todoseruga may be a combination of 海馬 todo, sea lion, and 海象 seiuchi, walrus.
Slowking (Japanese: ヤドキング Yadoking) is a dual-type Pokémon.

It evolves from Slowpoke when traded while holding a Evolution-inducing held item. It is one of Slowpoke's two final forms.

Biology
Physiology
Slowking are regular Slowpoke who suffered a peculiar event. The Evolution-inducing held item they rarely hold attracts Shellder, and gets bitten on its head instead of its tail. The poison that the Shellder secretes reached Slowpoke's brain, causing it to become extremely intelligent. Upon evolving, the lighter-coloration on the tip of Slowpoke’s tail disappeared. Like Slowbro, Slowking also has a scaled underbelly, if lower in position compared to Slowbro’s.

In appearance, Slowking looks much like a bipedal Slowpoke with its Shellder resembling a crown, although the shape of Slowking's eyes and the scales on its belly cause it to differ from its pre-evolution. There is a small red gem on the upper part of the "crown". Slowking also somehow gains a red and white ruff around its neck to emphasize its "regality."

Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Due to the way Shellder's poison reacted with its brain, Slowking possess an amazing intelligence, to the point that it can match that of a human's and can understand and speak the human language. They can plan situations with effective results. Every time Slowking yawns, Shellder injects more poison into it, making it even more intelligent.

Slowking has a weaker Defense stat than Slowbro's, as a trade-off to having strong Special Defense. Slowking can use Nasty Plot and the rarely seen Trump Card attack while being unable to learn Slack Off and Amnesia on its own (those two moves would have to come from the Slowpoke it evolved from).

Behavior
Because Slowking is much more intelligent than Slowpoke or Slowbro, wild Slowking must lead colonies of wild Slowpoke and Slowbro in times of crisis. According to The Complete Pokémon Pocket Guide, it has such an easy-going personality that it never gets stressed.

Habitat
Slowking lives with the Slowpoke and Slowbro at their paradise to lead them.

Diet
Pokémon food
It is very likely that Slowking is a carnivore, like Slowpoke and Slowbro, and feeds on river fish.

In the anime
Major appearances
Slowking's Day
Slowking first appeared in The Power of One. This talking Slowking gave Ash advice on where to find the orbs. This same Slowking made another appearance in a special episode called Slowking's Day that showed what he does on a daily basis.

Other
A Slowking belonging to Conway appeared in Tag! We're It...!. It reappeared in Up Close and Personable!.

Minor appearances
A group of Slowpoke were trying to reach a King's Rock to evolve to Slowking in A Crowning Achievement. One finally succeeded at the end.

A Slowking appeared in Larvitar and Unown's vision in the episode Address Unown. As all the Pokémon in this vision were seen recently, it is possibly the same one that appeared three episodes beforehand.
In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
A hint of Slowking's existence first appeared in 7, while Lorelei was musing on Slowbro's enhanced abilities after it had been bitten by Shellder. She remarked that Slowpoke would likely have further improved abilities if it was bitten on its head.

However, Slowking's proper debut was in 13, under the ownership of Sham. It was able to use its Snore alongside Carl's Magcargo to attack even when asleep. However, a double Giga Drain defeated them both.

Slowking appeared once more under the ownership of Lorelei herself in 23, and was used to escape the Icefall Cave when Carr detonated his Forretress, as well as to battle Sird.

Trivia
*In the anime, Slowking is one of the few Pokémon who talks like a human without telepathy.
*Slowking is the only Pokémon with a catch rate of 70.
*In the TCG, Slowking's Southern Islands card is the only card depicting a Pokémon introduced after Generation I to have a square evolution box, in Japan only. In English, the Southern Islands collection used the Neo-era designs, which, like all later card layouts, feature a circular evolution box.
*Interestingly, the Shellder of Slowbro's shiny form is gold, like a shiny Shellder. This is not so for shiny Slowking.
*Despite being Slowking, Slowking can be female. Interestingly, this also occurs with Slowpoke's other evolution, Slowbro, with bro being short for brother.

Origin
Slowking's shell makes it similar to hermit crabs, though it is physically similar to giant salamanders and hippopotami with leucism, which causes their skin to turn pink. Its shell "crown" may also be a reference to the mythical sazae-oni, a magical sea demon of Japanese folklore distinguished by its spiny "sazae" or "turban shaped" snail shell. It is also based on a king, as the growth around its neck is based on a king's Ruff (clothing) while its shell is similar to a crown.

Name origin
Slowking's name is a combination of slow and king.
