Aster's namesake
In the climax of the Delta Episode, right before Rayquaza is summoned, Zinnia describes how Aster is named after someone dear to her who passed away. In the Magma/Aqua Hideout she describes Aster (the Whismur) as her "daughter", and the revelation at Sky Pillar makes it slightly unclear whether, when she speaks to Aster at various points in the game, she's addressing the actual Pokémon or Aster's namesake.

I don't want to add anything too speculative since the scene is extremely ambiguous, but I do think that some of the explicit facts about Aster (namely, that she's named after a deceased character) deserve to be mentioned on the page outside of the quotes themselves. Arguably Aster might even deserve a section on the page, the same way [AZ]'s Floette does. —AndyPKMN (talk) 01:41, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

:i think it should be a trivia thing; considering that Zinnia said that she 'lost her' it's evident that she's speaking of Aster's namesake since Aster is directly next to her. My suggestion is a sister or daughter, but to remove speculation it's simpler to point out in trivia something along the lines of 'Although Aster is almost always beside her, Zinnia sometimes speaks about having lost Aster, suggesting that she may have named the Whismur after someone close to her who died prior to the events of the Game.' So it's based more factually than theoretically. All in all, i do agree that it is something noteworthy Azure/ChromeVoid42 (talk) 20:08, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

::I agree on making a separate page or at least a subsection for the original Aster and all info on her, especially since she has also been mentioned in the Adventures manga (complete with a vague picture). The current blurb about her definitely needs editing: from Zinnia's dialogue, it's impossible that the original Aster was her daughter ("Ever since I was a little girl, I have always turned my eyes up to the sky." + "... I used to watch the stars like this all the time... Together with Aster. We were always together." means they've been watching the stars together since they were little and Aster must have been the same age or older than Zinnia).
::Azalee (talk) 20:10, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
:::Those quotes are very far apart and not explicitly (or necessarily reasonably) connected like you want to think they are. At the very least: when Zinnia says they were "always" together, that could easily be "always, since Aster was born", not "always, for my whole life". Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:01, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
::::If we're going to argue semantics, you wouldn't say "We were always together" when you're doing something with your baby daughter — the baby doesn't have a lot of choice on the matter. Zinnia does playfully refer to the current Aster as her daughter, but never to the deceased one (for that matter, it's never even stated whether the deceased Aster was a human, though Adventures went that way); that's a far bigger logic jump to make. I went ahead and edited Pokémon!Aster's blurb to make that clearer, since I noticed after commenting that the last talks on this page were almost a year old... Azalee (talk) 21:18, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
:::::I don't see that it's important that the baby have any any choice in the matter for someone to reasonably word it "We were always together". If I had a child and I raised her and cared for her every day and then&mdash;let's say she got sick and died. I wouldn't have any problem at all saying "We were always together" about that.
:::::You also say she refers to the current (Whismur) Aster as her daughter, but that's plainly ridiculous: a Pokemon can't be her daughter. Either it's 1) affectionate, or 2) there's more going on, and a bunch of other clues point very strongly to "2": Zinnia had a daughter who Aster the Whismur occasionally acts as a stand-in for. Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:32, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
::::::I'm asking what your other clues are. There is nothing in Zinnia or anyone's dialogue that says the deceased Aster was her daughter; it's too big of an assumption. We know next to nothing about Zinnia and even less about Aster. She could have been another Pokémon, she could have been a friend or another family member, or, as in Adventures canon, the previous Lorekeeper. As discussed above, I think the best way to follow the community guidelines and be neutral and keep to fact is to say the only things known for sure: 1) she addresses the Pokémon as her daughter, 2) the Pokémon seems to be named after a close one whom she has a lost. I thought my edit was neutral enough, do you have any problems with it? Anyway anything longer doesn't belong in the Pokémon's blurb — perhaps the many theories and possibilities about who Aster may have been can go in the trivia section, under the Adventures mention. Let's not get into an edit war over this.
::::::(And for why Zinnia would call a Pokémon her daughter, a lot of NPCs refer to Pokémon as their 'babies', such as the Fans class, and it's not uncommon for people to call themselves their pet's mother in real life either.)Azalee (talk) 21:41, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
:::::::It's easy to call a pet (or Pokemon) something like your "baby" or maybe even your "little girl" or something, but the same thing does not happen with "son" or "daughter". Those are totally different.
:::::::Evidence, then...
:::::::*That Aster is human and not a Pokemon: "... See that, Aster? You always wanted to watch them, right? The Litleonids." Sure, supposedly you can understand Pokemon and all, but that's definitely more a sentiment a person would have expressed directly to Zinnia.
:::::::*That the person is her daughter: A) again, "daughter", from Zinnia, clearly suggests Whismur is a stand-in for her daughter; and B) "Mum"/"Mama" from Whismur. Alone either of those might leave room for just Zinnia being weird or something; but together it's entirely reasonable to assume they have real meaning.
:::::::These all paint a reasonable, clear picture. Why would it reasonably not be her daughter? (By in-game canon, that is; the manga and games are not strictly related.)
:::::::Sure, if you want to be pedantic, it's definitely not a certainty. But we've shown the basic evidence for the claim made; people are entirely free to make up their own minds. In the meantime, we shouldn't be obliged to skirt a plain conclusion. Tiddlywinks (talk) 22:16, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
::::::::Ah, I'd forgotten about the Litleonids quote, I concede that, but not the second point (since, again, she's talking to the Pokémon and not about the original Aster). Like you said: it's not a certainty, and clearly it's not a plain conclusion since a lot of people came to a different conclusion — including the Adventures scenarist — and even the people above who thought it might be a daughter think it's too ambiguous to state anything. If there's room for people to spontaneously understand something else from the situation, then it's not hard, certain fact, and I think the article's phrasing should reflect that, like in all other ambiguous hints in canon (for instance, the possibility of games!Silver being games!Giovanni child, until HGSS confirmed it). "Please only submit information you know to be accurate, and adhere to a neutral point of view. Do not misrepresent rumors, misconceptions or opinions as fact."
::::::::What about something like "Zinnia addresses Aster like a mother would her daughter, blabla, Aster seems to be named after someone whom Zinnia loved dearly "lost".", and perhaps in the Trivia section, "The identity of Aster's namesake and the circumstances of her death are unclear. She was someone dear to Zinnia, such as a daughter or a friend. In the Adventures manga, Aster's namesake was the previous Lorekeeper."?Azalee (talk) 23:49, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
:::::::::The people above are irrelevant to the point you're trying to make. They didn't know about (or talk about) Mum/Mama; I only added that this November. Heck, I already acknowledged it's iffy with only the "daughter" mention.
:::::::::You also have no proof that the Adventures "scenarist" made up Zinnia's backstory based on their best guess as to what the game was trying to suggest.
:::::::::You say you don't concede the second point because she's talking to Whismur and not the "original" Aster, but...that seems to me a ridiculous thing to say. (No offense.) As in, I don't understand how you are/can be understanding that in such a way&mdash;in any way but the way I'm understanding it; and I hardly even know how to try to explain my view to you or what mistake you're making/how. ..All I can say is: again, it's plainly ridiculous to call a Pokemon your daughter. The (IMO only) reasonable explanation is that Zinnia named Whismur after her daughter; and that's why she calls it her "daughter". (And, once more, yes, all by itself that's not wholly convincing; but it's not all by itself: the game also makes Whismur say "Mum"/"Mama", which should really drive the point home.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:09, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
:::::::::: And in my opinion and many others', it's not the only reasonable interpretation at all, hence the reason we're having this conversation at all! You're surprised that I saw it another way, but I was very surprised that some people thought the first Aster was her daughter. In the Japanese version, one of the ways she says she loved Aster is "daisuki datta", which is NOT how one would talk about a daughter. To me, the ridiculous thing (no offense) is to state that and act like that is the only valid interpretation of the game's ambiguousness, when very, very little is stated on the topic. There are many people and many views on this, and it's hard to completely confirm or invalidate any of them. I'm really not comfortable with letting the character's article stating anything like an objective truth when none of the points you mention seem like proof to me, aside from the fact that Aster was most likely a human. It is only your opinion, and not a neutral statement of the few facts we do have for sure. Azalee (talk) 00:29, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
:::::::::::I don't consider myself qualified to say how likely a mother might be to use 'daisuki' to say she loved her daughter...but right after that she also says 'kokoro kara aishiteita', which I suppose is more "acceptable". In that context, then, I think 'daisuki' would have to get a pass; you generally try not to be too repetitive in writing (I'm fairly sure this is true enough of Japanese or English), so it shouldn't be unreasonable to use 'daisuki' first.
:::::::::::You're railing against this "objective truth". From that tone, I would have to imagine this page said "Aster is named after Zinnia's dead daughter". It most certainly does not, though. The page says, "Aster seems to have been named after a [dead] daughter of Zinnia's". There is a world of difference there. It is not a problem for the page to say that, not when the evidence it is based off of is stated next.
:::::::::::And, again: with all the evidence currently being discussed, you are the only person who is currently saying that you don't accept that Aster was named after Zinnia's daughter. Of course, by the same token, I am also the only person saying it was her daughter. But my point is: your claims that "many others" believe exactly as you do are not currently supported. Please stop trying to claim authority in numbers. ::::::::::::They didn't have to repeat it; it seems really, really odd to me for a mother talking about her child. I'm not saying the article should say Aster couldn't possibly be Aster's daughter — it can if you reach the way you do — but I disagree that "Aster seems to have been named after a [dead] daughter of Zinnia's", and I have given you my reasons as for why. I'm just trying to reach a compromise because I don't agree with your view anymore than you do with mine and while the current phrasing on the article could indeed be even worse, it is not neutral enough in my opinion and does not accurately reflect the ambiguity of the situation. You yourself admit that your claims are not any more supported by numbers than mine, so can't we find a phrasing that satisfies both of us and is — again — factual only?Azalee (talk) 01:21, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
:::::::::::::I'd actually be okay with "Aster may have been named after [...]" (without the emphasis). But I'm not really okay with offering other alternatives when the only evidence ("daughter", "Mum"/"Mama") points to a daughter. People can doubt that evidence, but presenting some other alternative (like "friend") in the face of that evidence is just terribly awkward (at best). ::::::::::::::That's what I was aiming for, yes x'D Something like that sounds a lot more neutral to me. I guess indeed there isn't particular evidence pointing to, specifically, a friend (could really be anyone — I just wanted to put emphasis on the fact that there are other possibilities than a daughter). (I still don't agree on that that's "the only evidence" but I'll let it go :p) "Someone close to" is the way I'd phrase it too, yes! If you don't agree with my first edit, do you want to be the one to edit a new description, and I'll check afterwards if the phrasing sounds good to me as well?
Can we get a page on this ASAP? She does play a pretty heavy part in the Delta episode, by giving vital information, and she's related to the last Lorekeeper, Zinnia, while also happening to be both a Move Tutor and the only and last tutor to re-teach Rayquaza Dragon Ascent, which is pretty important, as it's needed for Ray to ME. Additionally, she is one of the remaining Draconids, so she needs a page. (Was looking for certain quotes said in-game for the DE that only come from this character, so when I couldn't find it, I was disappointed.)
I find it strange that something Zinnia mentioned as profound as "A Hoenn region that's almost exactly like this one we live in" is never really explored in the article. The only time it is mentioned is in the direct quote from her. It's a very strange thing for her to bring up, and has some far-reaching implications. As is linked in the article, it may indeed be a reference to the original Ruby and Sapphire versions, and in this case it is the first time (as far as I know) that a character seems aware of the remake versions being distinct in some way from the originals. It would also imply that OR/AS aren't meant to be simply remakes of R/S, but also that they take place in a parallel but equally valid universe. This raises questions of not only when the games take place relative to each others' timelines, but in what universe? What is different about the Kalos region in the old universe, if the great war never happened, and the ultimate weapon never constructed? Does this not deserve further investigation? Though, I'm afraid all we can do right now is speculate. MofoMan2000 (talk) 05:40, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

In the English script, Zinnia calls the old Draconid woman in Meteor Falls "Grannie", but in the Japanese script, she calls her ババさま, which is much more likely to be a respectful address for an old woman than a way of calling one's own grandmother. It's harder to argue, but in English, "Grannie" really doesn't have to refer to one's own grandmother either. I think we should remove the claims that that old woman is Zinnia's grandmother.
Plot
As Ash and ashfr prepare to set off again to the Shalour Gym, Bonnie encounters difficulties while fixing her hair. When Serena puts a flower clip in Bonnie's hair, a lone Flabébé attaches itself to it, looking downhearted. Bonnie feeds the Flabébé nectar, and then asks Clemont if she can keep the Pokémon. When Clemont tries to capture it, however, the Flabébé refuses, and Ash points out it must already have a trainer, angering Bonnie. The friends walk into the nearest town, Calanthe Town, to find its owner, with Bonnie still wanting to keep Flabébé for herself, talking to it in her hair by way of a mirror. Suddenly, an old man, spotting the Flabébé, runs up to the group, overjoyed. He introduces himself as Gray and thanks the group for taking care of his Pokémon. When he asks Flabébé to go home with him, however, she will not let go of Bonnie's hair. When asked about Flabébé's lack of a flower, the man explains his story.

Flabébé lives together with Gray and his wife Florence. One day while gardening, Florence fell ill and collapsed. Flabébé, then with a flower, flew to find Gray. Florence was admitted to a hospital, where the old woman would stay. When Gray woke up the next morning, Flabébé was gone. On a hunch, he found Flabébé at the hospital, watching Florence. A strong wind separated Flabébé and its flower, and carried Flabébé away, its flower left ruined. Now Gray must take Flabébé back quickly, as Florence is not doing well, due to an emotional matter. As flowerless Flabébé will lose their energy, they must find Flabébé a same flower as its original before they can take it to the hospital. However, this fairy flower, which resembles Bonnie's hairpiece, is not easy to find. The traveling companions tell Gray to go visit Florence while they go search for the flower.

The group first goes to a Pokémon Center to heal Flabébé, where Nurse Joy tells them the flowers may be found in the high plains near the town, but they are not in season. TRT watches from behind newspapers and hatches a plan. As Bonnie and the group are about to head out, a disguised Team Rocket stops them, offering a special tour to find the Flabébé flowers. The "tour guides" guide the group quickly to the high plains, where the travelers begin to look for a flower. Flabébé spots one high on the side of a cliff, which Bonnie must climb because Flabébé must attach itself naturally to the flower. MTR encapsules Pikachu with a claw as Bonnie and Flabébé reach the flower. Ash, Clemont, and Serena take out Froakie, Clemont, and Serena, while Jessie and James retaliate with Jessie and James. Ash commands Froakie to use Water Pulse, but the move is reflected by Jessie's Jessie's Mirror Coat. Chespin uses Pin Missile, but it is reflected again, hurting Ash, Clemont, and Serena's Pokémon. James and Jessie order Inkay and Pumpkaboo to use Psybeam and Shadow Ball on the opposing Pokémon, who are unable to retaliate. Just then, Flabébé, now on the new flower, flies over the battlefield, using Aromatherapy to subdue Team Rocket and their Pokémon. Under the calming effects of Flabébé's attack, Team Rocket releases Pikachu on their own accord. With Team Rocket out of the way, Flabébé and the travelers return to town to find Gray.

The friends arrive at the hospital, and Florence and Flabébé are reunited, giving the old woman hope. Gray and Florence thank Bonnie, and Bonnie and Flabébé share a heartfelt goodbye. Coming out of the hospital, Bonnie is feeling down to have departed from Flabébé, but Clemont cheers her up to continue on their journey.
Sylveon (Japanese: ニンフィア Nymphia) is a Fairy Pokémon.

It evolves from Eevee when leveled up knowing a Fairy move and having at least two Affection hearts in Pokémon-Amie. It is one of Eevee's final forms, the others being Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, and Glaceon.

Biology
Sylveon is a quadruped, mammalian Pokémon covered primarily in pale cream-colored fur with pinkish feet, ears, and tail. There are two bows on it, one on its left ear and one around its neck, from which two feelers adorn it. The bows are pale cream with pinkish centers, while the feelers are pale cream with pinkish and blue tips. It sends a soothing aura from these feelers to calm fights, and will also use them to "hold hands" with its Trainer. It has short, slender legs and small paws with three visible toes on each foot. Its eyes are blue with white pupils and no visible sclera. When its mouth is open, two pointed teeth can be seen on its upper jaw. Its furry pinkish tail is slightly curved in a crescent shape.
Like the other Eeveelutions, Sylveon displays several characteristics of various mammalian creatures.

Name origin
Sylveon may be a combination of sylph, a mythological creature described as invisible beings of the air, or sylvan, a word referring to an association with woodlands or forests (where fairies are often depicted), and eon (an immeasurably long period of time, possibly referring to how long evolution takes naturally). Eon is a suffix all Eevee evolutions share and was Eevee's English prototype name.

Nymphia is derived from nymph, a deity existing in Greek Mythology associated with a particular location or landform.
In the games
Quotes
Triple Battle format
* Before battle
:"Welcome to the Battle Maison! I'm Dana. Thank you for coming. I am the second eldest of the four sisters who run this Battle Maison. I am also a Triple Battle expert! So come at me, young challenger! Yes, the extent of your strength... I will be weighing it in a moment!"

* When victorious
:"My, my, my... What a pity. Is that the end of things for you? I thought you had potential, but you can't get blood from a stone, after all. Away with you! I'm not interested in wasting my time with weak Trainers! If that's difficult for you to accept, come back and dare to challenge me again. And if you're just going to give up, then why not just run home now to lick your wounds in shame?"

* When defeated
:"Gasp...gasp... That was quite...the performance... Truly... You and your Pokémon...are truly... Ehh, leave it out! Let's drop the act. Good Calem/Serena, yourself. That's the best trouncin' I've had in ages. Sure, in ages! In fairness, I put on a bit of a show for the guests. But I can't act so high 'n' mighty after a savage battle like that one. Now, you leg it this instant before I consider fighting ye again right now! Away ye go and keep on winning! 'Cause if you do... I'll show ye my real skills. Ye'd do well to mind yerself then!"

Super Triple Battle format
* Before battle
:"Aye, in fairness, I knew a cracking Trainer like yourself would make it! So let's get straight to the battle! Both me and my Pokémon are delighted and excited about facing you again. Sure, and I don't need to be telling you, but... It'll be bad for me if that sister o' mine hears that I battled you without keeping up my wee act... So get your Pokémon out and let the battle begin! Here I come, ready or not!"

<!--* When victorious
:""-->
* When defeated
:"Whisht! To think I'd lose again! And I wasn't holding back in the slightest! Don't I look a right fool now! What in the world are you, pet? But...hehehe... It was really good fun, wasn't it? I've been so bored battling lately, but now I feel proper satisfied... I'm going to keep getting stronger, Then I'll surely beat you! So until I do, you'd better not be losing!"

Multi Battle format with Evelyn
* Before battle
:"Welcome to the Battle Maison! I'm Dana. Thank you for coming. I am the second eldest of the four sisters who run this Battle Maison. I will praise your bravery, at least, in attempting a Multi Battle with me! And, of course, I am hardly alone! ... ... ... Oh, give me a break, Evelyn! It's your line next! Come on!"

<!--* When victorious-->
* When defeated
:"Ugh... You're not bad, tha's for certain... To think that you would be able to break through our perfect combo... But my real stage is the Triple Battle! And Evelyn's speciality is Double Battle! If you took either of us on in our own specialties, we'd never lose to you! Isn't that right, Evelyn?!"

Super Multi Battle format with Nita
<!--* Before battle
:""

* When victorious-->
* When defeated
:"Nita! We only lost the battle because you went and started it without waiting for me to be ready! The key to any Multi Battle is being in perfect sync with your partner! Can you not get that through your thick skull, you moppet?!"
Lilligant (Japanese: ドレディア Dredear) is a Grass Pokémon.

It evolves from Petilil when exposed to a Sun Stone.

Biology
Lilligant dons a red flower with white spotted petals upon its head; said flower has golden filaments with red anther, resembling a crown. It possesses dark green, linear leaves under the flower, and light green, linear leaves underneath the darker leaves. One of the light green leaves, on the back of its head, is about as long as its body and resembles hair. Two light green leaves loosely hang down from its head. Its head and abdomen are white and its eyes, which resemble seeds, are a light shade of red. It has dark green, linear leaves for arms, and a golden sepal under its neck. It wears a large, light green, tulip shaped collection of leaves, resembling a dress. There are two long, dark green, linear leaves coming from its back to around the bottom of its "dress". It also possesses another golden, sepal-shaped extension underneath its "dress", resembling feet.

The flower is on Lilligant's head is very difficult to coax into bloom. Once it does bloom, it will wilt if Lilligant is then neglected. The flower emits a sweet smelling aroma, and it is believed to have a relaxing effect on those exposed to the scent. It is a rare Pokémon that lives in forests. Lilligant is a female-only species of Pokémon with no male counterpart.

Origin
Though Lilligant's flower is similar in appearance to the hoya or rafflesia, its relaxing smell makes it more likely to be based on either an Orange (fruit), pomelo, mandarin orange, or Dianthus, all of which are used in essential oils for aromatherapy. Because of this, the leaves of its body may also have been based on other essential oil ingredients, such as spearmint and/or peppermint. Its crown and regal attire may be a reference to 1750–1795 in fashion#Women's fashion. It could also be based on a dancer, since it learns only moves with the word Dance in them via level up, excluding moves it knows from the start.

Trivia
Trivia section currently states: "Ghost and Psychic are the only two types that are weak to the same types: Ghost and Dark. "
I could understand that in two ways, and both are wrong (I guess, that's why I try to discuss it here)
1 - They are the only types who share all their weaknesses. That would be wrong, since Psychic is weak to Bug, and Ghost is not.
2 - They are the only two types who share more than one weakness. Also wrong, since, for instance, Ground and Rock are weak against Grass and Water.
If I misunderstood it, please let me know. Or if anyone agrees, I'd be glad to see I'm not useless ;) Gabriel Rocha (Diby esp) 22:45, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Should it be mentioned that even if Ghost-type had been effective against Psychic-type in Generation 1, it would've been largely academic because the only Ghost-type attack that was affected by types, Lick, was very weak, and since all Ghost-type Pokémon in G1 were dual-typed Poison and thus weak to Psychic attacks, using a Ghost Pokémon against a Psychic Pokémon would've been a bad idea anyway? This page says that Ghosts were weak to Psychic in Generation I. The Type chart page says otherwise (NOTE: look at the second type chart; the first is only valid for later generations). Of course, all of the Ghosts in the first gen actually were, in fact, weak to Psychic, but that's at least partially because they were all also Poison-types (if this page is true, they'd have had a double-weakness and have taken 4x damage in the first gen.) == I would like do add this line, can I add? ==

Ghost-type Pokémon such as Dusknoir and Cofagrigus are good to use as defensive Pokémon, because of their high defenses and ability to inflict status ailments and use support moves. However, their resistances are of little use: Poison and Bug are types rarely used offensively, and Dark is very commonly used offensively. But is quite useful to be immune to Fighting and Normal-type attacks. Moreover, it's very common for Ghost-type Pokémon to be immune to Ground, due to Levitate. This gives them immunity to three of the most powerful types offensively.
New Table is terrible
Ewwww... the new table added by AquaDragon looks awful, and in fact has less functionality than the previous version (can't sort the table!). I don't want to just revert it without a bit of consensus though, so: Vote that table be scrapped for old version. Anaphysik 19:03, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
:Do tell me why the table is awful. I know that if you are accustomed to the sortable list and you see a table, you would most probably reject the table. However during the change, I sought to make the list look more presentable and clearer, while preserving all the information on it (i.e. to say, the list and table are equivalent in content, only differing in presentation).
:First of all, the list is already somewhat repetitive; the colors already repeat themselves, (increases stat to favorite flavor, decreased stat to disliked flavor) and I do not think the colors make searching any easier (unless the colors are memorized and the searcher knows what each color represent). Secondly, I guarantee that searching through a table is faster: the whole table is within the searcher's field of vision, meaning to say the person searching can look at the whole table at one glance instead of up and down for the list. The sorting functionalities on the list only eases the search (rearranging alphabetically, I still have to search downwards for natures that appear in the center like Jolly, then look up and down [if i didn't remember] what each column represents. The need for sorting also proves that the list is quite messy to begin with).
:Lastly, the table takes up less space: visually its more squat and compact, and digitally, taking 4.3kb less space than the list means it loads faster (older browsers may not support sorting as well).
:OK, I'm not saying the table is the best solution to present the natures and all the data shown. Ultimately clarity and ease of understanding prevails, and if you do find a better solution (I think you will go with the list), then by all means go ahead and change it.
I would like to second the motion of replacing the table with the original. It was hard to tell which column represents what in the new one. Personally, I think it's better to just look up the nature to see what it increases/decreases, rather than seeing which stat is benefit/demerit by a certain nature. Example: In the old table, if I needed to see which stat increases Attack, I can just look at the multiple boxes labeled "Attack" and see the corresponding natures, followed by the stat demerits, as well as Poffin flavors, etc in the following boxes. I will say, for the record, that I can understand the new table now. Regardless, it was a change that seemed unnecessary and not as easy on the eyes. Knuclear200x 08:26, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

I find the new table to be much more efficient for quickly and easily looking up which nature I want, which is not the case with the old list. Although, I must say that the left column definitely doesn't need to be that wide. --Flib 05:23, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

with regard to the nature table
(also in response to the above)
OK, I've been thinking for a while, and I agree that the main problem of the table is understanding it more than searching for information. Therefore, for the time being, I've restored the original list, and put the table in expandable mode. Yes, I do know we do not usually put up repetitive information, but for the sake of discussion I shall reiterate my point on why I support the table.
* Firstly, the table cuts down on repetition. I'm also referring to the list's flavor column. Each stat is tagged to a flavor (attack-spicy), and if the nature boosts the stat, then the Pokémon will come to like the flavor (boost attack → likes spicy food), and will likewise dislike it for a hindered stat. I'm not sure why it seems important to have it beside and sortable with the nature; it sounds like the favorite flavor might depend on the nature.
:All right, so assume we get rid of the flavor column and then put up a separate explanation/table saying how each flavor is tagged to a stat and so on and so on, then we're practically left with a natures and the stats, which goes on to my second point, which is
*a table is much neater and organised. I know the list can do things like sort alphabetically, make it look nice and the table looks awkwardly messy because there doesn't seem to have any order (i don't think they will design the natures so that they look nice or ordered alphabetically in rows), but the table does present the same (or even more) information in a tidier fashion.
:OK, say you want to look up a nature, like Impish. So you look through the table, find it, then want to know what stats it boosts or hinders... so by looking at the column (decrease sp.atk) and the row (increase def), you know what it does, and additionally it tells you what flavors it likes/dislikes.
:Now for your example on searching for natures that increases Attack... won't it be more convenient to look up the row for attack instead of searching all the orange-colored boxes?
*Next is about space. OK it might not be a plus point, and I've mentioned it above, but I'd like to add that there are only 25 natures, so if a table can fit all that, then why not?
*Lastly, even if the list has to be there, the table would act as a compliment. Its like showing the two different solutions to a maths problem... after all, if anyone needed to copy down an offline version of the natures, i'm sure he/she will choose the table ;) ---> 6890F07038F8 14:27, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Everstone + breeding with male Pokémon
Currently, the article states, "From Emerald onwards, a Ditto or a female Pokémon (though increasing evidence points to BOTH genders) that holds an Everstone has a 50% chance of passing its nature to its offspring when at the Pokémon daycare[...]". (The emphasis is mine.) I understand that there's a lot of debate on the Internet whether a male Pokémon can pass down a nature with an Everstone, and I can say that's definitely true in Black/White. I bred a female Lax Gligar with a male Impish Gligar, with the male one holding an Everstone. I obtained approximately 15 eggs, and half of them were Impish. So, I think that we can conclude that this definitely works in B/W. (Also, as an aside, the female Gligar was Japanese, so the language restriction (which never made sense in the first place) was removed in B/W as well.) I haven't tried giving Everstones yet to male Pokémon in Gen IV games yet, but I will soon (or if someone else wants to try, be my guest.) --<span style="color:#F08030;">Blaz</span><span style="color:#C03028;">iken</span><span style="color:#302000;">257</span> 01:08, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
:OK, as a follow up, I have decided to test all the Gen IV games I have: Diamond, Platinum, and HeartGold. Here are all the results:
:*Diamond: Bred a male Adamant Aerodactyl (holding an Everstone) with a female Impish Aerodactyl. Both of them are English. 13 eggs were produced; none of them were Adamant.
:*Platinum: Bred a male Quirky Slowpoke (holding an Everstone) with a female Lonely Slowpoke. Both of them are English. 15 eggs were produced; only one of them was Quirky, which probably was due to random chance as opposed to being influenced by the Everstone.
:*HeartGold: Bred a male Adamant Mareep (holding an Everstone) with a female Docile Mareep. Both of them are English. 13 eggs were produced; eight of them were Adamant. So Everstone works on male Pokémon here.
:In conclusion: The first games where Everstone worked when given to male Pokémon were HeartGold and SoulSilver, and this was carried over to Black and White. In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, Everstone only has an effect when given to females and Dittos. --<span style="color:#F08030;">Blaz</span><span style="color:#C03028;">iken</span><span style="color:#302000;">257</span> 04:13, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

I was going to add this to the article, but I want to ensure I have it correct. I have Black 2, and using an Everstone seems to have a 100% chance of passing nature, regardless of the gender. I've been breeding countless Eevee's in order to get a female with hidden power flying and a modest nature, and Everstone has transferred nature without fail.Aquaslash (talk) 08:47, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
that darn chart!
I thought someone restored the chart? Why can I still not organize it the way I would like to so that it is organized my increased stat? Please fix this somebody, I do not know how! Nokota 17:01, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
:Click the little icon next to "Increased stat" in the top table. That sorts them by increased stat. Alternatively, read across the rows of the second table. <span class="sc"><span style="color:#2D4B98;">Werdnae</span></span> <small><span style="color:#009000;">(talk)</span></small> 00:41, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
Opposing Natures
This isn't very important, but has anyone else noticed that natures that have opposing effects are usually opposite adjectives? For example, Brave is +Attack/-Speed, while Timid is -Speed/+Attack; Rash is +Special Attack/-Special Defense, while Careful is +Special Defense/+Special Attack; and so on? Dimenticare (talk) 01:17, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
:I'd say that is a pretty sharp observation. I don't know where it would be included in the article though--maybe in a Trivia section. I'd like to know if I'm the only one who thinks this belongs in a Trivia section of this article. == Japanese names in table and grid ==

Is there any particular reason the Japanese names appear on this page? There's already a separate page for translations linked at the bottom, and moreover it clutters up the grid making it harder to read at a glance. Would it be possible to gather some details about the nature-specific phrases? PLA (talk) 10:27, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

In defense of the list and the table.
The list is easier to look at if you're wondering what a specific nature does, and I would wager the vast majority of visits to the page are "what was X, again?"

The table is easier to look at if you're hunting a particular nature, i.e. "I need attack up and SP.Atk down..."

Keeping both isn't a problem, but if you were going to use one- it is easier to use the list to look up a nature than it is to use the table to look up what a nature does, especially given the color-coded nature of the site.

My only gripe is that since the "neutral" natures are technically increases and decreases to the same stat, they should be arranged within the table as such. It's probably more misleading than the current format, but the blank spaces bug me. 2 Cents
:Having both is fine. Since the list is first, most will happen upon it before the table. Also, please sign your comments right after the last word, instead of on a new line. --Abcboy (talk) 03:55, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
