Although that way be a bit of a 'biased' opinion, since I have on multiple occasions tried to find the Pokémon equivalent of other characters, including ones in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. If you will ever see any real similarity, it will be when Luxray stands up, and grows shoes and extra hair on his chest, and then he changes colour. And Luxray and Manectric... the only similarity is they are both electricity, and they both walk on all fours, and they may be similar in height.

For the English name origin, could we add that Luxray's name may also be derived from the name of the city of Luxor? Luxray is a sphinx, and Sphinxes are reminiscent of Egypt. ==Hearthome City==

Once you arrive at [[Hearthome City]], a lost {{p|Buneary}} will run into you. After that her trainer will appear and thank you for catching her Buneary and she will suggest you to go to the [[Contest Hall]] and leave. It is to the left and behind the [[Hearthome Gym]]. Once you get there, you'll find her talking to your [[Johanna|mom]]. They will both talk to you about contests, and leave. Then go to the front desk and talk to the woman dressed in Purple. She will reveal herself as [[Fantina]] the [[Gym Leader]] of the City. The she'll leave to the gym where you will be able to challenge her.

After that you can take a look around the city. Next to the [[Pokémon Center]] is [[Bebe]]'s house, the [[Sinnoh]] administrator of [[Pokémon Storage System|Pokémon box system]]. If you talk to her and have a spare slot in your party, you can get an {{p|Eevee}} from her. It is at level 5, and is a [[Normal]] type. If you don't have an open slot in your party, then you can always get it later.

Also at east of the [[Poké mart]] is the [[Pokémon Fan Club]]. Go inside and talk to the man inside. After listening to his rambles, he will give you the {{DL|List of key items in Generation IV|Poffin Case}}, which is essential on making [[Poffin]]s. Poffins can be made in the building west of the [[Poké Mart]], known as the Poffin House.

Next to it is the Pokémon Hotel. If you go to the second floor and talk to the woman with the {{p|Clefairy}}, she will give you a {{DL|In-battle effect item|Shell Bell}}. This item can be useful, as it heals the user by 1/8 of its Max HP when it inflicts damage.

Also at the northwest and northeast of the city, you can find the entrance of Amity Square, where you can find some [[Accessory|Accessories]], an {{DL|In-battle effect item|Amulet Coin}}, {{TM|43|Secret Power}} and {{TM|45|Attract}}. Keep in mind, you'll need a "cute" Pokémon to enter. Your starter will work.

==Hearthome Gym==

Once you're done exploring the town, you can go to the [[Hearthome Gym]]. The gym is located at the northeast of the city. The gym leader, [[Fantina]], uses {{type2|Ghost}} Pokémon. The design of the gym is a dark room, using {{p|Duskull}} lamps to serve as walls, to create a maze. These also have glowing eyes that will let the player see, not counting the flashlights that every challenger has. The goal of the puzzle is to find first the blue pattern, then go to the door that has the same pattern. If you pick the wrong door, you'll find yourself on a dead end with a trainer you'll have to battle. The pattern changes every time you re-enter the room. At the fifth level you'll found Fantina and be able to fight her to earn the {{Badge|Relic}}.

Now having earned your Relic Badge, You've now done all there is to do in Hearthome. Now's it's time for you to move on to Route 209. From the entrance, go east, then north to travel directly to [[Solaceon Town]]. On this route there is the Broken Tower which becomes the [[Hallowed Tower]] when the [[Odd Keystone]] is placed in it. After speaking to 32 people in the [[Underground]], a [[level]] 25 {{p|Spiritomb}} will appear to battle you. Next, you can explore the [[Lost Tower]] if you'd like, but you'll need HM05 [[Defog]] to be able to see correctly. After finishing Route 209, it's time to move on to Solaceon Town.

==Hearthome City==

Once you arrive at [[Hearthome City]], a lost {{p|Buneary}} will run into you. After that her trainer will appear and thank you for catching her Buneary and she will suggest you to go to the [[Contest Hall]] and leave. It is to the left and behind the [[Hearthome Gym]]. Once you get there, you'll find her talking to your [[Johanna|mom]]. They will both talk to you about contests, and leave. Then go to the front desk and talk to the woman dressed in Purple. She will reveal herself as [[Fantina]] the [[Gym Leader]] of the City. The she'll leave to the gym where you will be able to challenge her.

After that you can take a look around the city. Next to the [[Pokémon Center]] is [[Bebe]]'s house, the [[Sinnoh]] administrator of [[Pokémon Storage System|Pokémon box system]]. If you talk to her and have a spare slot in your party, you can get an {{p|Eevee}} from her. It is at level 5, and is a [[Normal]] type. If you don't have an open slot in your party, then you can always get it later.

Also at east of the [[Poké mart]] is the [[Pokémon Fan Club]]. Go inside and talk to the man inside. After listening to his rambles, he will give you the {{DL|List of key items in Generation IV|Poffin Case}}, which is essential on making [[Poffin]]s. Poffins can be made in the building west of the [[Poké Mart]], known as the Poffin House.

Next to it is the Pokémon Hotel. If you go to the second floor and talk to the woman with the {{p|Clefairy}}, she will give you a {{DL|In-battle effect item|Shell Bell}}. This item can be useful, as it heals the user by 1/8 of its Max HP when it inflicts damage.

Also at the northwest and northeast of the city, you can find the entrance of Amity Square, where you can find some [[Accessory|Accessories]], an {{DL|In-battle effect item|Amulet Coin}}, {{TM|43|Secret Power}} and {{TM|45|Attract}}. Keep in mind, you'll need a "cute" Pokémon to enter. Your starter will work.

==Hearthome Gym==

Once you're done exploring the town, you can go to the [[Hearthome Gym]]. The gym is located at the northeast of the city. The gym leader, [[Fantina]], uses {{type2|Ghost}} Pokémon. The design of the gym is a dark room, using {{p|Duskull}} lamps to serve as walls, to create a maze. These also have glowing eyes that will let the player see, not counting the flashlights that every challenger has. The goal of the puzzle is to find first the blue pattern, then go to the door that has the same pattern. If you pick the wrong door, you'll find yourself on a dead end with a trainer you'll have to battle. The pattern changes every time you re-enter the room. At the fifth level you'll found Fantina and be able to fight her to earn the {{Badge|Relic}}.

Now having earned your Relic Badge, You've now done all there is to do in Hearthome. Now's it's time for you to move on to Route 209. On this route there is the broken tower which becomes the [[Hallowed Tower]] when the [[Odd Keystone]] is placed in it. After speaking to 32 people in the [[Underground]], a [[level]] 25 {{p|Spiritomb}} will appear to battle you. After finishing Route 209, it's time to move on to Solaceon Town.

===Adopt-A-Newbie!===
The Marriland Forums have a helpful service called "Adopt-A-Newbie!", where newcomers to the forums can go to get a helpful start and some knowledge about the forums and what to do.

The idea for “Adopt-A-Newbie!” was suggested by Marriland Moderator: Pupitar247 on Sep 29, 2007. The idea started running on the forums on Jun 05, 2008.

“Adopt-A-Newbie!” was created by Marriland Administrator: Azulkitten.

The service consists of mentors that assist the newbies that come and ask for help.

Newbies pick their Mentors by looking at each of the Mentors application by seeing how much Newbies he can mentor and what guidance the Mentor provides.

Mentors can only mentor Newbies who are working on their green and yellow rank.

After a month the Newbie turns into a “Graduated Newbie” and is put on the Graduated Newbie list.

The “Adopt-A-Newbie!” service has mentored about 40 Newbies so far.

The “Adopt-A-Newbie!” Service is located in the in “General Forums” section inside the “Introduce Yourself!” forum.

“Adopt-A-Newbie!” is not accepting applications to become a mentor as of July 6, 2009.

The Marriland Forums have suffered from server problems ever since {{game|Diamond and Pearl|s}} were released in April 2007. This resulted in the server going down for hours at a time, as it couldn't handle the flood of new users.

The Marriland Forums have a helpful service called "Adopt-A-Newbie!", where newcomers to the forums can go to get a helpful start and some knowledge about the forums and what to do.

The idea for “Adopt-A-Newbie!” was suggested by Marriland Moderator: Pupitar247 on Sep 29, 2007. The idea started running on the forums on Jun 05, 2008.

“Adopt-A-Newbie!” was created by Marriland Administrator: Azulkitten.

The service consists of mentors that assist the newbies that come and ask for help.

Newbies pick their Mentors by looking at each of the Mentors application by seeing how much Newbies he can mentor and what guidance the Mentor provides.

Mentors can only mentor Newbies who are working on their green and yellow rank.

After a month the Newbie turns into a “Graduated Newbie” and is put on the Graduated Newbie list.

The “Adopt-A-Newbie!” service has mentored about 40 Newbies so far.

The “Adopt-A-Newbie!” Service is located in the in “General Forums” section inside the “Introduce Yourself!” forum.

“Adopt-A-Newbie!” is not accepting applications to become a mentor as of July 6, 2009.
