Old man glitch

Amaster6000: /* Cause of the glitch */

The Rare Candy Cheat is probably one of the most infamous glitches in the Generation I Pokémon games. It gives the trainer nearly unlimited Rare Candies (or whatever item is in the sixth slot of the bag).

It is a side effect of the Missingno. bug, where the amount of the sixth item in a player's bag, not necessarily a Rare Candy, is set to 127. By using all of these but one and repeating the bug, the player can have an infinite amount of that item.

As the trainer will often encounter Pokémon over level 100 that are hard to escape from while executing the Missingno. glitch, it could be a good idea to clone Poké Dolls.

Performing the glitch
Requirements
* A Pokémon that knows Fly.
* A Pokémon that knows Surf.
* Party members level 50 or higher (varies)
* At least one of the item to be cloned (for the purposes of this explanation, we shall use a Rare Candy).
* At least five other items in the bag.

Instructions
#Talk to the Old Man located North of Viridian City. Allow him to demonstrate how to catch a Pokémon.
#Once he is finished, immediately Fly to Cinnabar Island.
#Make sure that the Rare Candy is in the sixth slot of the bag.
#Surf up and down along the east coast of the island where the water is touching the land. Whether Missingno. can be encountered depends on the player's name; other Pokémon may appear instead. Continue Surfing along the coast until Missingno. appears (assuming that the player's entered name will cause a Missingno. encounter). Some names may not cause Missingno. to appear. If so, you will eventually find 'M and it will suffice.
#Defeat, run, or catch Missingno. or 'M.

After the battle, open the menu and view the items currently in the bag. If done correctly, the game should show "?8" or "?5" as the amount of Rare Candies in the bag (? being a glitch character).

The glitch can be done both with Rare Candies and with any other item. The most useful items to copy are arguably Master Balls, Nuggets, expensive items such as Full Restores and Revives, or unique TMs. Key items, such as the Bicycle, can also be duplicated; it is very difficult to get rid of duplicated key items. Even Fossils and Old Ambers can be duplicated, potentially allowing a player to revive limitless quantities of Kabuto/Omanyte and Aerodactyl, which would not be able to happen again until Generation IV.

Cause of the glitch
Every Pokémon has a "Pokédex byte" that tells the game whether it has been seen or caught. A value of 0 means the Pokémon hasn't been seen or caught, 128 means it's been seen, and 255 means it's been caught.

Missingno.'s Pokédex byte is in the same location as the byte that stores how many of the 6th item is in the bag. This is why, when Missingno. is encountered, the sixth item slot is set to 128 (or 255 if it is captured). The glitchy box symbol is a result of the game attempting to display a number greater than 99, which causes it to grab sprites from beyond the number sprites.
Pikachu (Japanese: ピカチュウ Pikachu) is an Electric-type Pokémon. It is the starter Pokémon one receives at the beginning of Pokémon Yellow, and is popularly known as the mascot of the Pokémon franchise.

Pikachu comes with the Ability Static, which paralyzes the foe 30% of the time it uses a direct attack on Pikachu.

Pikachu evolves with exposure to a Thunderstone into Raichu. It evolves from Pichu when it grows a level and its happiness is 220 or above.

Pikachu is the version mascot of Pokémon Yellow, appearing on the boxart.
Biology
Physiology
A Pikachu is a ground-dwelling rodent notable for its Electric abilities. Pikachu have short, yellow fur with brown stripes on its back, black-tipped ears, along with an unusually shaped tail, resembling a lightning bolt. Besides its evolution and pre-evolution, it may be related to Plusle, Minun and Pachirisu, due to notable physical similarities.

Pikachu are known to have acute senses of hearing, thanks to its large ears. Most domestic Pikachu are very intelligent, understanding and interpreting human speech at levels far surpassing those of any pet dog.

In DP074, Ash's Pikachu was shown with a heart rate of 156. Although it was injured at the time, it shows that Pikachu have high heart rates
Gender differences
A female Pikachu has a small "dent" at the end of its tail, causing it to resemble a heart.

Special abilities
Exclusive to the Pikachu's subspecies is the ability to release electric discharges of varying intensity, at will, through electric sacs in its cheeks. This electric energy can be manipulated into a variety of techniques which are mostly used in battle but which can be used to roast berries as well.

As Pikachu build up energy in their electricity glands, it is often needed to discharge, as to not result in a short, or worse, which can lead to physical Paralysis, or in severe cases death. Pikachu release the built-up energy through their tail, which acts as a grounding rod, to safely remove unneeded energy. A sure sign to tell if a location is inhabited by Pikachu is to look for patches of burnt grass, which is the result of the discharge. Through an inability to release a buildup of electricity, a Pikachu may develop a rare condition similar to the human flu. This illness is most often caused by strong nearby electro-magnetic forces, which severely impact the electric glands. If a Pikachu is introduced to a magnet, it will be attracted towards its cheeks, and display other common attributes of magnetism.

Pikachu, and its evolution family, are the only known Pokémon that can learn Volt Tackle. In a few rare cases, Pikachu can learn to manipulate Water and, with the help of a surfboard, perform the move Surf.

Behavior
In the wild, Pikachu often travel in packs, and are rarely territorial. However, when threatened, a group can generate an intense electrical offensive, and the electro-magnetic forces exerted by the resulting field can even produce a short lived, localized thunderstorm. Pikachu can be harmful pests, eating and sometimes destroying telephone poles, wires, and other electronic equipment.

Despite this, it is a popular pet, and relatively easy to maintain, with little exercise necessary for its well being. However, it is important to discharge the electricity in its cheeks periodically.

As many know, yanking on a Pikachu's tail will result in a severe shock or a bite to the offender. Another defense of Pikachu's is the use of its nasty bite which has been known to leave quite a mark.

Habitat
They are found mostly in forests, but possibly because of their attraction to their electricity or simply because they are not afraid of people, Pikachu commonly show up in civilized areas. They may even enter houses, presumably attracted by the electrical output generated by the dwellers' appliances.

Diet
Main article: Pokémon food

Living in wooded areas, Pikachu often are found foraging for berries. Instead of climbing trees, they use small electrical shocks to release the berries from the tree, roasting them at the same time.

As pets, they can be fed a variety of processed food, available at many pet stores. Alternatively, like most Pokémon, Pikachu are tolerant to most "human" foods, and sometimes enjoy them more than the more nutritional food designed for their biology. In fact, Pikachu have been known to have a fondness of ketchup.

In the anime
Ash Ketchum has a Pikachu that he obtained from Professor Oak in Pokémon, I Choose You!, the first episode of the Pokémon anime series. It has appeared in every non-special episode since. Pikachu has also appeared in every Pokémon movie.

James used a Pikachu in the Pokémon League Entrance Exam in The Ultimate Test, but the Pikachu was defeated by the instructor's Graveler. James, after interfering with a battle Ash was having with the instructor, later tried to steal this Pikachu.

Another Pikachu nicknamed Puka was owned by a man named Victor on Seafoam Island in The Pi-Kahuna. This blue-eyed Pikachu had the ability to sense tidal waves approaching.

Ritchie also has a Pikachu nicknamed Sparky, who debuted in A Friend In Deed.

A Pikachu has also been owned by Luana's son, Travis. Luana mistook Ash for Travis when she saw Ash playing with Pikachu.

Ash gets turned into a Pikachu in Hocus Pokémon by a Pokémon magician named Lily. He reverts to his human form at the beginning of the next episode.

In Lights, Camerupt, Action, Elijah used a Pikachu in one of his movies. This Pikachu helped Plusle and Minun on their mission to rescue Princess Kirlia from the evil Armaldo.

A Pikachu named Sugar belonging to the owners of a restaurant went missing prior to Cooking up a Great Story!. This Pikachu evolved into a Raichu near the end of the episode.

A Pikachu also had a part in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters out of the Gate!. He was kidnapped by a Skarmory and Team Go-Getters set out to rescue him as their first mission. Pikachu provided them with some items in the battle.

A Pikachu belonging to an unnamed Aura Guardian appeared in DP056.

In the manga
Electric Tale of Pikachu prominently features a Pikachu.

A Pikachu is one of the main characters in Pokémon PiPiPi Adventure.

A more mouse-like Pikachu that communicates through pantomime is one of Isamu Akai's Pokémon in Pocket Monsters.

Satoshi has a Pikachu as one of the members of his team in Pokémon Zensho. It later evolves into a Raichu.

Shuu's first Pokémon was a Pikachu he found abandoned in the forest in Pokémon Get da ze!.

Ash's Pikachu was the main character in the short-lived Pokémon Newspaper Strip.

A story called "Akari and Pikachu's Birthday" is featured in the final volume of How I Became a Pokémon Card.

In Golden Boys, Gold was in possession of a Pikachu, which ended up being Eusine's.

A Pikachu makes a cameo in Pocket Monsters Emerald: Challenge!! Battle Frontier during one of the battles. Also, a photo album owned by Anabel has a Pikachu on the cover.

Pokémon Special
Pokédex entry: When several of these Pokémon gather, their electricity could build up and cause lightning storms. Forest dwellers, they are few in number and exceptionally rare. The pouches in their cheeks discharge electricity at their opponents. The Pikachu are believed to be highly intelligent.

Both Red and Yellow have Pika and Chu Chu, respectively. Pika often used to shock Red repeatedly. However, Pika becomes one of Red's most valued Pokémon.

Pikachu debuted in its own round in the Red, Green & Blue chapter, Wanted: Pikachu!. Here, Pika is captured by Red.

In the ninth Volume, Yellow is seen to have a new addition to her team: a Pikachu she had found injured in the Viridian Forest and nursed back to health. When Pika is left behind by Red on his trip to Mt. Silver, Pika joins Yellow and Chuchu on their trip to Johto.

Pika and Chuchu share a loving relationship, one that is so strong that even Jasmine noticed, prompting her to hand Yellow a slip with the Pokémon Daycare's address on it. In Volume 13, after Yellow and Wilton are brought to the Daycare after being shipwrecked, Yellow finds that Pika and Chuchu now have an egg shortly after they were "put together". The egg eventually hatches into Gold's Pichu.

Wild Pikachu also appeared in the RS and DP sagas.

Pikachu is one of the few Pokémon in the TCG that have appeared on a lot of cards. There are currently at least 30 known Pokémon cards featuring Pikachu, including promos, owned and delta species. Pikachu has appeared as a card in almost every released set. There is also various trainer cards with Pikachu in the card's artwork too, including the very sought-after tournament promos such as No.1 Trainer.

The earliest known Pokémon cards featuring Pikachu includes the one from Base Set (which was reprinted in Base Set 2 and in POP Series 2 with different artwork), and the one in Jungle Set (which was also reprinted in the Legendary Collection). Pikachu from Base Set was originally released in an E3 expo as a promotion, the card back then had a misprint where the Pikachu's cheeks were red when they were supposed to be yellow in that specific card.
Pikachu has the honour of being one of the mascots of the Smash Bros. series, alongside Mario, Link and Kirby.
Super Smash Bros.
Pikachu is a playable character and the only Pokémon that is playable from the start of the game. It is in the fifth box of the second row. Its main stage is Saffron City.

In the hands of a skilled player, Pikachu is not to be taken lightly. Alongside electrical attacks, it has very good aerial attacks and superb recovery. Because of this, top-level SSB players have placed Pikachu at the top of their list, theoretically making it the best character in the game.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Pikachu is a playable character and the only Pokémon that is playable from the start of the game. It is initially placed to the right of Mario but moves to the bottom row after Luigi is unlocked. Its main stage is Kanto: Pokémon Stadium.

While Pikachu's play style remained the same, it was powered down in the sequel. The tier lists for Melee place Pikachu in either the Middle or Low tier.
Trophy information
Classic Mode
It's safe to say that Pikachu is the most famous and popular of all Pokémon. It has electric pouches in both cheeks; when in danger, it shoots electricity at its enemies. Although Pikachu can evolve into Raichu by exposure to a Thunderstone, many trainers like Pikachu so much that they don't let it evolve.

Adventure Mode
While its electrical attacks, such as Thunder and Thunder Jolt, are powerful, Pikachu is at its best speeding around the fray and waiting for its chance to strike. You can control the path of Pikachu's two-directional Quick Attack, allowing you to jump twice. Hold down the B Button to charge up Skull Bash.

All-Star Mode
The angle of the Control Stick controls the direction of Pikachu's Quick Attack. Pikachu will move blindingly fast, and it will also cause damage to any character it runs into. Move the Control Stick during Quick Attack and Pikachu will move in up to two directions. Be sure to check out the ceilings on the level when you use Thunder.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Pikachu is a returning playable character to the franchise. Its Final Smash move is Volt Tackle.
Pikachu is first seen in the "Research Facility" stage where it is being used to power a generator. Responding to its shrieks of pain, Samus Aran saves it by destroying the generator. The two then face a group of R.O.B Sentries. Pikachu then joins Samus to search for her stolen power suit. The suit is soon recovered and then are soon confronted by Metroid (series)#Recurring characters. ====Trophy information====
"A Mouse Pokémon. Its lightning-bolt tail and round cheeks are its trademarks. When danger draws near, it uses tiny electric pouches within its cheeks to discharge electricity. When it's really fired up, it unleashes thunderbolts on its rivals. It's said to recharge when it's Sleep. It evolves into Raichu."
Game data
NPC appearances
* Pokémon Stadium: Pikachu stars in the mini-game "Thundering Dynamo" alongside Voltorb. This mini-game involves charging up electric power.
* Pokémon Stadium 2: Pikachu can be used in "Pichu's Power Plant" if one is detected in a Transferred Pokémon game.
* Pokémon Pinball: Pikachu serves as a Ball-Saver, but it will only work if the Lightning Meter is full.
* Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire: Pikachu has the same role as in Pokémon Pinball but is sometimes helped by Pichu. Pikachu also appears on the Catch 'Em Mode banner.
Trivia
*The "secret" move for Pikachu's evolution line, Volt Tackle, is actually based off of Pulseman's signature move, Volteccer. To get this move, a Pichu must be bred from a parent Pikachu or Raichu holding a Light Ball, though this can only happen in Pokémon Emerald, Diamond, or Pearl.
**Additionally, a Pikachu knowing Surf and Volt Tackle can be obtained from Pokémon Battle Revolution by defeating Stargazer Colosseum for the first time.
***A Surfing Pikachu can also be won through the use of Pokémon Stadium. Players must beat Prime Cup Master Ball R-2 using a team containing a Pikachu from the player's game pack. The Pikachu must be used in every battle, and no continues may be used.
*Pikachu's number in the National Dex (25) happens to be the reversed version of Meowth's (52). It is unknown whether or not this was intentional, however, in the anime, Team Rocket's Meowth and Ash's Pikachu are rivals.
*Pikachu is the smallest and lightest version mascot.
*In the games, Pikachu is the first Pokémon to have its cry changed-- to that of its anime counterpart. This only appeared in Yellow.
*Pikachu assumes a pose that is identical to the pose of the Pikachu on the box art of Pokémon Yellow during its battle animation in Diamond and Pearl.
*Pikachu is in all four regional Pokédexes, possibly because of Ash's Pikachu.
*Despite being catchable in all games, Pikachu is not native to the Johto region.
*Although noted in the anime as having a dislike for being in Poké Balls many trainers keep their Pikachu in its Poké Ball.
*Pikachu in Pokémon Yellow was the first Pokémon to naturally learn a move taught by a Gym Leader's TM in its generation and the only one until Generation III.
*Pikachu is the first electric Pokémon in National Dex order.
Origin
Pikachu has physical aspects resembling several species of rodents, such as mice and squirrels. However, Pikachu most resembles the lagomorpha known as the pika.
Name origin
Pikachu is a combination of ぴかぴか pikapika, which is Japanese onomatopoeia for sparkle, and ちゅうちゅう chūchū, which is the sound of squeaking. It may also be related to pika, a type of rodent. It could also come from the Japanese prefix Pikucha-.
Biology
Physiology
Lumineon's main body has a rounder appearance than that of its pre-evolution, Finneon. Instead of having a pair of caudal fins resembling butterfly wings, Lumineon has pectoral fins that resemble butterfly wings. Lumineon has teardrop-shaped pelvic fins that can allow it to crawl along the sea floor.
Gender differences
The lower parts of Lumineon's butterfly wing-shaped fins are longer if it is a female.

Special abilities
Lumineon can learn every single attack that Finneon can use, but with slightly more strength. Since Lumineon is fully evolved, it can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
A held item is an item held by Pokémon on direction from their trainer. This capability was first introduced in Generation II, though the thought of held items may extend as far back as Pokémon Yellow, where many Farfetch'd and Kadabra, upon trading to a Generation II game, are revealed to have held items, a Stick and a Twisted Spoon, respectively. Held items range from Berries that can be used in battle to recover to items that can be used to enhance the power of certain moves. Most other items may be held as well, such as Poké Balls and Revives, though the Pokémon will not use them.

The following is a list of items made solely to be held items, grouped by purpose and listed in alphabetical order.

Type-enhancing items
Type-enhancing item
Type-enhancing items increase the power of a used move of the enhanced type by 10% (20% in Generation IV). In Generation II, some were given out by the Weekday Siblings.

‎Plates
Plate
Plates are ancient stone tablets engraved with text that increase the power of moves of a specific type. There is one for each type except Normal.

Stat enhancing items
Stat-enhancing item
These items, when held, will increase certain stats of Pokémon. Some can only be used by specific Pokémon.

In-battle effect items
In-battle effect item
These items will take effect during battle to either aid or hinder the Pokémon holding them or an opponent.

Evolution items
Evolution-inducing held item
These items, when held by a Pokémon, will cause it to undergo evolution when activated by another event, such as gaining a level or being traded.

Incense
Incense
These items, when held by a Pokémon in the day-care, will cause it to produce an egg that will hatch into a baby Pokémon introduced after Generation II.

EV-enhancing items
EV-enhancing item
These items, when held by a Pokémon, promote EV gain in several different ways.

Mail
Mail
Mail allows players to send messages to each other by attaching it to a Pokémon that is to be traded.

Berries
Berry
Berries have varying effects. Some weaken super effective moves, and others cure status conditions. All can be used to make Pokéblocks or Poffin.

Scarves
Scarf
Scarves up the Contest Condition of the Pokémon that is holding it without the Pokémon being fed Pokéblocks or Poffin.
StrategyWiki
Pokémon Battle Revolution is the first Pokémon game on Nintendo's Wii console. It supports connectivity with the Nintendo DS, allowing trainers to battle using their Diamond or Pearl Pokémon while using their Nintendo DS as a controller. It was released in Japan on December 14, 2006, two weeks after the Wii launch, and in the United States on June 25, 2007.

Gameplay
Pokémon Battle Revolution features eleven different colosseums in a new land named Pokétopia. Other features include stadiums that have their own special effects, such as randomizing the order of one's Pokémon.

Players can fully customize their trainer to use on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Players can customize their characters with hats, shirts, glasses, and other things. Additionally, for the U.S. release, Nintendo had added the option to customize a trainer's skin pigmentation. A key difference from this game compared to the Stadium titles is that minigames are absent from this game. A trainer can choose 6 Pokémon and get a Battle Pass; however, if Pokémon Diamond or Pearl is connected, a player can upload their trained Pokémon and get a Custom Pass.

Key differences from other Pokémon console games shown are that the Pokémon can now actually strike at the opponent physically while both Pokémon are rendered on the screen, instead of seeing one Pokémon attacking and then cutting away to the second getting hit by the attack as in previous titles. Moves that do not contact, however, follow the same style as the older games to keep the pace of gameplay up. When an attack that strikes both opposing Pokémon is performed, it hits both of them on screen simultaneously, instead of showing it as the attack striking one Pokémon first then the second Pokémon next. The game also features a 100 trainer battle when it is completed it for the first time.

Colosseums
The game features eleven different colosseums, each with special changes to normal play or prerequisites and either a Colosseum Leader or Colosseum Master. The six Colosseum Leaders wear Pokémon costumes; for example, Marina of the Water Colosseum wears a Kyogre costume. Also, the Crystal Colosseum can hold up to 16 players, the battles are done in a 16 person tournament mode. Only the Gateway Colosseum is open to a rental pass holder. After beating all the Colosseums once, the player is given a Pikachu with Volt Tackle, Surf, and a held Light Ball (such a Pikachu is impossible for a player to make by normal means). Each level rule (level 30 free and level 50 all) for a Colosseum has a specific ranking, which goes up as the player wins. ==Online functionality==
Battle Revolution is the first Pokémon game on any home console to go online. It uses its own 12-digit friend code, separate from the Wii's code. This has received widespread controversy, because the use of a Wii Number was believed to eliminate the need to have a friend code for each online game, as with DS Wi-Fi games. It is not currently known if all future online games will use friend codes, or whether PBR is an exception, due to its connectivity to Diamond and Pearl, which use friend codes.

Legendary Pokémon banning controversy
Due to the lack of clauses in online random multiplayer, trainers with legendary Pokémon ran rampant on the system, attracting a fair amount of controversy as to why Nintendo was not using official Nintendo tournament rules, which ban legendary Pokémon, on their service. However, on July 3, 2007, legendary Pokémon (referred to as "exotic" Pokémon by the game) became banned from the system. Although it was originally speculated to be a glitch, a similar incident occured on the same date regarding two other games. The banning of these Pokémon has received a large amount of controversy from the community. A Nintendo representative later stated that the ban was a technical difficulty. The similar GTS problem was not addressed.

Development and history
The game was first announced by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata at a Nintendo marketing event in Japan on June 7, 2006. At the event, Iwata described Wii-to-DS connectivity using the game as an example, stating that gamers with either Pokémon Diamond or Pearl can play battles using their Diamond or Pearl Pokémon to Pokémon Battle Revolution using their DS as a controller.

The DS linkup feature was demoed at 2006 Nintendo World Tour for the first time. As well as allowing Pokémon from a Pokémon Diamond or Pearl cartridge to be used in-game, it replaces the on-screen battle menu, normally used in conjunction with the Wii Remote. The battle menu is displayed on the DS touchscreen instead, and is navigated with the stylus. Up to eight players can play in a 1 on 1 tournament, much like the Battle Frontier's Battle Dome in Pokémon Emerald.

Reception
Unfortunately for Nintendo, Pokémon Battle Revolution has received mostly negative to lukewarm reviews. IGN has given this game a 5.0 out of 10 for many reasons. First, the website cited, the game lacks many features demonstrated in previous games such as Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Colosseum, notably being the RPG mode. The multiplayer and online battles were also criticized for lacking features such as tournament play. Gamespot gave the game a 5.5 out of 10, their reasons for this were the repetitive gameplay and the barebones online play. It also added that if the player didn't have Pokémon Diamond or Pearl for the DS, there wasn't as much to do. Nintendo Power gave this game a 6.5 out of 10.

Currently the game has an average of 59% of 10 reviews on Game Rankings.

Just wondering where Abra and Phanpy are coming from, as Pokémon Forever states "If the wild Pokémon is Magnemite, Grimer, Tangela, Mr.Mime, Eevee, Porygon, Dratini, or Dragonair, then Catch Rate = Catch Rate * 4.0. I'm curious, too. I see various sites that say things like "Pokemon who can run away, like Teddiursa, Tangela, or Raikou", but the game stores a list of Pokemon whom the ball works better on, and that's what I used on PokéFor. --Meowth346 21:09, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)
In that case, somebody remove the two offending, untrue Pogeys?

I clearly remember seeing black balls thrown by the head of Team Rocket in "Mewtwo's Return" feature length episode. Now it's a bit sad since I juest returned the darn video to the rental store and check on this which I saw just moments ago! From my poor memeory I think they were just black pokeballs with the typicial Team Rocket red R instead of red dot.

They were used to capture the running pokemon (Meoth, Pikachu and the cloned pokemons), though Mewtwo used it's psychich powers to release them, making them somewhat uninteresting...

Actually, I think you're thinking of the PokéBalls being thrown by the Team Rocket grunts at the herd of Tauros that Mewtwo was lifting with Psychic.Missingno. Master 02:00, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Ball Images
The large images are nice, I admit, but perhaps using sprites would make the tables look neater and, by having ones for the Safari, Ultra and Master Balls, more complete? Given time, I could even make modifications of the sprites for the Generation II Balls. --Pie 20:08, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Replacing Images
I don't think that the current images for Hoenn Balls and Poke and Great Ball are nice. I think they're ugly imitations of Sugimori Artwork. I have a Sugimori Artworks for almost all PokeBalls (the Johto ones are bad-qualited, though) and I think they're much better. I think we should replace the current images with the Sugimori's ones.
:I dunno, I don't think the current ones look bad at all - just big, given how much they stretch the rows of the table. And how bad quality are you talking for the Johto ones? Call me a sprite fanatic, but I think the third generation item sprites would look best in the tables. The second generation ones would be missing, but, as I said, I could make some custom ones. Also, I'm not particularly fond of the anime Pokéball image, since it's so heavily pixelated... --Pie 01:36, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
One big vs. many small
I've been talking with TTE. The idea of breaking some of the meat of this article up still bugs me on some level, but... well, might as well bring the idea to everyone.

The idea, basically, is to start having articles for groups of items as well as individual. This one, for example, would be moved to "Ball", and the lower section would link to the different articles on individual item types. If we do this for this one, we do it for all item groups...
:I think it'd be a good idea. After all, we have separate articles for every berry, why shouldn't we for Poké Balls and held items as well? Then, we could categorize them better, without having a gigantic page (which is what the page on held items is quickly becoming...).
Should Sir Aaron's Staff be considered a pre-pokéball object as well? Also, should it be noted about how time passes for pokémon contained within pokéballs?
