Seaking (Japanese: アズマオウ Azumao) is a Water Pokémon.

It evolves from Goldeen starting at level 33.

Biology
Physiology
Seaking resembles a koi or goldfish, as it is a big orange colored fish with white and black markings. It also has a horn on its head, two big dark eyes, and pink lips with two small, sharp fangs.
Gender differences
A female has a smaller horn.

Special abilities
Seaking is a very powerful swimmer, being able to swim up the riviers current and even up waterfalls. It also uses it's powerful horn to bore holes in solid rock to keep their eggs safe.

Behavior
In autumn, Seaking travel up river to lay eggs and raise young.

Habitat
Seaking are common in bodies of water.

In the anime
Ash, Misty, and Professor Oak have owned Seaking in the past, though Ash and Misty released theirs only a short time after capturing it, due to the rules of the competition. It should be noted that Professor Oak's Seaking was invented by the dub.

Juan also owns a Seaking, which was used in a Gym battle against Ash in The Great Eight Fate!. Juan's Seaking was able to block electric attacks with Horn Drill and send them back at its opponent.

Trivia
*Seaking's prototype name was "Neptune", named after the god of the sea in Roman mythology.
*Seaking is the subject of a meme on the *chan sites: "FUCK YEAH SEAKING." This meme centers around Seaking destroying things.
*Seaking and Goldeen are the only Pokémon that can learn Waterfall through leveling up. This makes it one of few Pokémon released to be able to learn an HM move by level-up.
*Despite being called Seaking, it is found in fresh water, like real life goldfish.
**In the Pal Park, it is found in the Pond Area.
* Seakings's number in the Sinnoh Dex and the Johto Dex is the same: 079. This makes it and its evolution family one of only five families of Pokémon (comprising thirteen Pokémon altogether) to have the same numbers in more than one Pokédex-like listing.
*In the anime, Seaking is the only Pokémon that both Ash and Misty have owned.
**Ironically, both Seaking were caught and released in a single episode.
*Seaking bears an odd resemblance to the Looney Toon version of Peter Lorre, with the black marks on its head and under its eyes, its large, round eyes, oversized lips, and two-teethed overbite.

Origin
It seems to be based on a species of goldfish known as Azuma Nishiki (東錦). The horn part may be based on Matsya, an avatar that the hindu god Vishnu assumed, which is sometimes depicted as a fish with a horn.
Name origin
Seaking's name is simply a combination of sea and king (seeking?). Its Japanese name may be based on 小豆鱒 azukimasu, rock cod and 魔王 ma-ō, devil king. Interestingly enough, its Japanese name may also be taken to literally mean 東王 azuma-ō, East king. Furthermore, an アズマニシキ azumanishiki is a kind of goldfish. Likely the name is meant to compliment Goldeen's "queenliness" with a combination of the Azuma Nishiki (東錦) goldfish and the Japanese word for king, ou (王).
Slugma (Japanese: マグマッグ Magmag) is a Fire Pokémon.

It evolves into Magcargo starting at level 38.

Biology
Physiology
Slugma are fiery Pokémon that appear to consist entirely out of magma. They appear to resemble slugs, with a pair of bright yellow eyes on short stalks and a small mouth. The magma inside its body acts as a circulatory system, transferring vital nutrients and oxygen throughout their bodies. These Pokémon have to constantly keep moving to keep the magma in a liquid state - if it cooled the magma would harden and turn to rock.
Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Slugma have been documented to have two abilities: Magma Armor, which prevents this Pokémon from being frozen solid, or Flame Body, which give its opponents a 30% chance of being burned when coming in physical contact with Slugma. Flame Body has also been used in later generations to help hatch Pokémon eggs that trainers have in their party.

Behavior
Slugma have to keep moving in order to keep warm; if they stopped moving, the magma would cool and become rock, which would eventually break off and reduce this Pokémon's size. For this reason they never sleep. Although they aren't rock-type Pokémon, Slugma are capable of learning Rock Throw, AncientPower and Rock Slide Naturally. However, they will be a Rock Pokémon in a following evolutionary stage.

Habitat
Naturally, Slugma prefer warmer regions where they can keep their magma hot, so they are often found in volcanic regions.

Diet
Pokémon food

It is not known what these Pokémon eat, presumably they consume soil and rocks to both keep the volume of their magma and collect vital nutrients for their bodies.

In the anime
Slugma made its debut in the anime as one of Macey's Pokémon in Tie One On! and was used in her battle against Ash in the Silver Conference. At the end of the episode it had evolved into Magcargo.

A Slumga also appeared in What You Seed is What You Get.

Flannery had two Slugma named Mag and Meg, one of which evolved to Magcargo in Poetry Commotion!.

In the manga
Pokémon Special
A trio of Slugma first appeared in 10. Professor Oak tried to capture them at the beginning of the volume, but failed. The Slugma later appeared outside Earl's Pokémon Academy at Violet City where they were captured by Crys.

Mack uses his Slugma to create illusions by generating waves of distorted air via heat, forcing targets to relive their worst memories.
Trivia
* Slugma and Magcargo are the only Fire-type Pokémon that are in the Indeterminate.
* It is one of the only two non-Rock Pokémon to learn Rock Slide via level-up (the other being Camerupt). However, it does evolve into a Rock-type.
* Despite multiple Pokédex entries claiming that it never sleeps and is on the move constantly, it can learn Rest, and is perfectly capable of sleeping, it is also capible of using harden.
* Slugma's shiny form seems to depict it as cooled and hardened magma.
* Slugma's Gold and Silver sprite shows its eyes as parts of its "ears", but in later Generations the eyes were moved to the top of its head.

Origin
It is based on a slug.

Slugma's shiny form may be based on cooled, hardened magma, which becomes a dark metallic color.

Name origin
Slugma's name is a combination of slug and magma. Its Japanese name is also a combination magma and slug.
In the anime
Marill first appeared in Pikachu's Vacation. It was causing trouble for Pikachu and co. along with a Raichu, a Snubbull and a Cubone.

Tracey Sketchit owns a Tracey of his own.

Wilhelmina's Marill appeared in For Crying Out Loud. This one was a bit of a crybaby and it got lost in a forest with Misty.

A Marill was used by one of the students of the Trainer's School in Gonna Rule The School!.
When released from a Poké Ball, Marill will immediately start running in the direction the ball was thrown. Any opponents in the way will be juggled with its DoubleSlap. It can be knocked off the screen with a strong enough attack.

Trophy information
This Aqua Mouse Pokémon evolves into Azumarill. The round ball on the end of its tail acts like a flotation device, so it can float safely on the roughest of water conditions. It resides on Mt. Mortar in seclusion; few of the creatures are ever seen. Marill's cuteness has earned it a large and loyal fan base.
Trivia
* For months prior to to the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver, Marill was often incorrectly referred to as "Pikablu", likely because of its slight resemblance to Pikachu.
* In its original design, Marill was pink.
* Marill was the third Generation II Pokémon to appear before the Johto series (after Ho-Oh and Misty).
* Marill is the only Pokémon that evolves from a Normal Pokémon but isn't a Normal itself, other than the Eeveelutions.

Origin
It may be based upon a combination of a mouse and a beach ball. Its body and ears also resemble a water molecule.

Name origin
Marill's name may be a combination of marine, of the water, and rill, a small river or brook. The name may also come from a contraction of the phrase marine blue. In Japanese, the romanization of Maril is Mariru. It's possible that the name could have derived from the Japanese 丸い marui, round or circular, or 鞠 mari, ball and 瑠璃 ruri, lapis lazuli.
