Honestly why can't Chloe be considered a main character at this point?? She's in most episodes, she's in the openings as much as Ash and Goh are. She just went on a solo adventure without Ash which no one but Goh has ever done I believe, not to mention when the directors of the anime talk about her, they include her alongside Ash and Goh. I mean she's done as much as the Alolan girls at this point so it just seems weird not to include her. Well so what are the rules then?? Like I just tried to add that Eevee used a new move and it was taken out because she isn't a main character yet whenever stuff happens for her like a catch or her getting some items, it's included. Not sure why Eevee getting something doesn't count then?? I don't see how Eevee is less important then one of Goh's pokemon who appears like 5 times where as Eevee is in every episode she is. Why is there apparently an issue over Marowak's moveset? Not a single move has been placed on the page, despite three of the four used being obvious. Headbutt, Flame Wheel and Bonemerang all appeared clearly in the episode; the latter two matched previous animations while the fact that Marowak's head shone before using Headbutt makes it almost certain that's the move being used. If it's not identified but people still think it has a unique animation, then you should wait for it to be okayed before adding it (anyone can have an opinion; waiting for approval will help avoid edit wars).

The problems that came from that loose mindset led to the current standard that moves must be spoken out to be confirmed. There must be some kind of barrier in place, because if not, people can just add whatever move they want. There have been plenty of instances where a Pokémon did a movement resembling a headbutt, doesn't mean it's actually Headbutt. And similar cases like that. In the end, Bulbapedia is still aiming to be as factual as possible. This can't be guaranteed if people can just go assume.

The headbutting move could've been another move that involves ramming oneself into their opponent, while the bone move (the one said to be bonemerang) still could've been a stylized Bone Club. As for why I would think that, because it's Marowak's debut and the animator would probably want to make it look cool to appeal to the kids, so they could make a move appear more fancier. That and it wouldn't be the first time they've changed a move animation. Eevee was next spotted, saving Serena's life by calling out to her to prevent her from walking off a cliff. In return for saving her life, Serena left her flower crown for Eevee to wear, which was not taken until night. Eevee later approached {{an|Clemont}}, his Pokémon, and Bonnie, who had laid out {{DL|Pokémon-Amie|Poké Puffs}} to lure it in. While {{TP|Clemont|Bunnelby}} noticed Eevee take one of the Poké Puffs, it gave Eevee a chance to get away with the food, leaving {{TP|Clemont|Chespin}} to take the blame.

That same night Eevee was spotted on the stage-like rock again, performing its dance. It was being watched by Serena, {{TP|Serena|Braixen}}, and {{TP|Serena|Pancham}}. After a performance by Serena, Eevee revealed itself to the group, only to be caught by {{TRT}}. Serena and Ash managed to get Eevee out of the trap Team Rocket placed it in, so [[Jessie]], {{MTR}}, and {{TP|Jessie|Wobbuffet}} tried to run after it but Serena, Pancham, and Braixen blocked the way. [[Jessie's Gourgeist]] was told to use {{m|Seed Bomb}} onto Serena and her Pokémon. She was saved by Eevee's {{m|Protect}}. After Team Rocket was sent blasting off again, Eevee gladly joined Serena.

In ''[[XY089|Tag Team Inspiration!]]'', Serena met up with {{an|Shauna}} again, who informed her about the [[Eeveelution|various Pokémon]] that Eevee can evolve into. Later, Serena used Eevee in a [[Pokémon battle]] for the first time, in order to help it get over its shyness, where it battled against [[Ash's Pikachu]] and {{an|Tierno}}'s {{p|Blastoise}} along with Shauna's {{p|Ivysaur}}. During the battle, Eevee got targeted by Pikachu's {{m|Thunderbolt}}. Frightened by the attack Eevee was unable to move and fell. At the last moment, however, the attack was blocked by Ivysaur's {{m|Razor Leaf}}. After this and seeing how everyone was rooting for it, Eevee gained the courage to fight. Eevee then managed to dodge Blastoise's {{m|Water Gun}} and utilized its dance moves to confuse Blastoise, before hitting it with Swift. Inspired by Eevee's dance moves, Serena called the battle off in order to practice them for her performance.

In [[XY090]], Serena released Eevee out of its [[Poké Ball]] to watch her performance. It was scared by the amount of people near it, but soon calmed down after Clemont released Bunnelby in order to keep it company and less nervous. During the Theme Performance, it expressed interest in the first half of the {{pkmn|Showcase}}, but was suddenly surprised after Jessie's free performance's ending fireworks, causing it to run away to the lobby and hide under one of the benches in fright. At first it was hesitant to go to Serena's call but after gaining some nerve, it ran out from its hiding spot in a hurry to Serena, whom happily embraced it. Prompting its trainer to hurry back, it watched along with the others in excitement as Serena did her Free Performance with Braixen and Pancham. After the performance, it expressed its interest in one day performing with Serena and the team on stage as well.

In [[XY094]], Eevee caught the interest of a {{p|Quilladin}}, but did not reciprocate it's feelings and expressed discomfort instead. Eevee blocked it's attempts of "love" using {{m|Protect}} before Serena's Pancham and Chespin began defending it. After both Pokemon were brushed off Eevee was revealed to have known {{m|Double Team}}, using it as a way to hide itself from it's unwanted pursuer and unintentionally making it faint. Due to the forwardness of it's admirer Eevee reverted to it's timid personality, scurrying behind Serena away from Pancham and Chespin to their dismay, and the fainted Quilladin. It expressed disinterest in Quiladin's attempt at winning it's love by battling Pancham and Chespin, preferring to rest instead. Eevee was soon drawn away along with Bunnebly, {{TP|Clemont|Dedenne}}, and [[Puni-chan]] by a trap laid out by [[Team Rocket trio|Team Rocket]] but escaped thanks to Bunnebly and eventually reunited with Serena and the others. It rejected Quilladin's affection for the last time after defeating Team Rocket, refusing to take it's gift.

While Eevee loves to dance, it has a timid personality and is easily scared by new people or Pokémon as shown in it's debut and in [[XY094]] when a {{p|Quilladin}} had fallen in love with Eevee, but frightened it instead. When scared, it tends to hide behind its Trainer or [[Clemont's Bunnelby]] or freeze up and immediately run away out of its nervousness. It tries to overcome its timidness as it attempts to warm up to the other Pokémon of the team as shown in ''[[XY089|Tag Team Inspiration!]]'', but to a limited success as it shies away from [[Clemont's Chespin|Chespin]]’s accidental outburst. This trait led it to hesitate during its [[Multi Battle|Tag Battle]] in ''Tag Team Inspiration!'', until it was inspired by {{an|Tierno}}, his {{p|Blastoise}}, and their dancing. Adapting its dance moves to its battle style, Eevee became an agile fighter capable of dodging many attacks and making unpredictable movements.

Eevee is shown to have a passion for dance, liking to perform its moves on a stage-like rock prior to its capture, although it only performed alone away from others. It was dazzled after seeing Serena’s performance in [[XY090]], sparking its interest to perform along with Serena and the rest of the team.

With the new release of [[XY052]], Frogadier has learned Aerial Ace, and so far that was only move shown (possibly Cut as well, but I'm not sure about that one), so I changed it to only Aerial Ace being the recent move, however a user, JasonL changed it to Water Pulse, Bubble and Cut also being recent, since a Pokémon can only know four moves, I only put down Aerial Ace as recent since we cannot speculate on the other 3 moves kept until we see them in a episode (I wasn't sure what he meant by "Just think of the moves as so far" in his/her edit summary). As a Pumpkaboo, she made her first appearance in ''[[XY011|The Bamboozling Forest!]]''. While walking through a forest, Jessie tripped over Pumpkaboo as she was emerging from underground. While she kept shining her light repeatedly, Jessie threw a [[Poké Ball]] at her, successfully catching Pumpkaboo, much to [[James]]'s surprise. Later, she was used to battle {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} to prevent them from rescuing a {{p|Pangoro}} and {{p|Pancham}} that Team Rocket had captured. Using her {{m|Leech Seed}}, Pumpkaboo was able to prevent her opponents' Pokémon from moving. She was defeated after Ash gave Pangoro a leaf, allowing it to regain its confidence and easily send Team Rocket blasting off.

Since being caught Pumpkaboo has become Jessie's main battler in Kalos, replacing {{TP|Jessie|Wobbuffet}}. As is traditional for Pokémon owned by Team Rocket, Pumpkaboo has lost nearly every battle she has participated in.

Pumpkaboo appeared in ''[[XY046|The Clumsy Crier Quiets the Chaos!]]'', using her flashlight ability to light up a cave for Jessie. They quickly ran into a wild {{p|Salamence}}, and Pumpkaboo and Jessie played dead in order to confuse it. While the Salamence tried to figure out what happened, Jessie put a device on its head. This caused Salamence to go into a rampage, sending Team Rocket blasting off. Pumpkaboo was later seen at the [[Pokémon Center]], being healed of her injuries from Salamence.

In ''[[XY060|A Showcase Debut!]]'', Pumpkaboo was used in the [[Coumarine City]] Rookie Class [[Pokémon Showcase]]. Jessie dressed Pumpkaboo up as a scarecrow for the Theme Performance, where she was matched against [[Shauna]]'s {{p|Bulbasaur}} and [[Alouette]]'s {{p|Furfrou}}. Her costume and accessories were not well-received by the audience members and she ended up receiving the least amount of votes, thus being eliminated from the competition.

In ''[[XY063|A Fork in the Road! A Parting of the Ways!]]'' she was separated from her Trainer as well as Wobbuffet after being blasted off by {{AP|Pikachu}}. While looking for her with James and {{MTR}}, she was captured by a Pokémon hunter along with Meowth and {{TP|James|Inkay}}. After getting rescued by James and being reunited with her Trainer, she helped to defeat the Pokémon hunter along with Team Rocket's other Pokémon, Pikachu and {{TP|Serena|Fennekin}}.

In ''[[XY077|A Relay in the Sky!]]'', Pumpkaboo was used to compete in the [[Pokémon Sky Relay]]. She managed to finish her part of the race in first place by hiding inside an {{p|Altaria}}, but her team was disqualified when {{MTR}}'s {{p|Pelipper}} machine was exposed.

In [[XY081]], Jessie met [[Count Pump]] who explained that her Pumpkaboo was rare in that it was a Super Size female and, as his own Pumpkaboo had fallen in love with her, asked her if she wanted to trade for his {{p|Mawile}}. Although Jessie initially refused, she was persuaded when she learned that Mawile had the potential to [[Mega Evolution|Mega Evolve]]. However, Pumpkaboo grew angry with her Trainer for agreeing to trade her away. Regardless, the exchange went ahead but when the Count sent out Pumpkaboo she promptly evolved into {{p|Gourgeist}}, the trade having triggered the evolution. Jessie soon regretted the trade and asked Count Pump if he was willing to trade back, and the Count promptly agreed, as his Pumpkaboo was no longer interested in Gourgeist. After the trade, Jessie and Gourgeist were happily reunited, and Gourgeist was sent into battle against {{AP|Pikachu}}. Regardless of her new form, Gourgeist was still defeated but this didn't matter to her or Jessie as the two were just happy to be together again.

While not as playful as [[James's Inkay]], Gourgeist as a Pumpkaboo seems to be a very cheerful and energetic Pokémon; this can be seen when she often dances, spins around or sings during her battles, sometimes even childishly changing her tone of voice when attacking. She is shown to get excited and proud of herself when doing well in battle, such as in ''[[XY038|Forging Forest Friendships!]]'' when [[Ash's Hawlucha]] missed with {{m|Flying Press}} due to Pumpkaboo being a {{type|Ghost}}. She's also shown to have a tendency to flash her lights repeatedly as shown in ''[[XY011|The Bamboozling Forest!]]'', when Pumpkaboo was startled by Jessie, though she used this ability to good effect in ''[[XY046|The Clumsy Crier Quiets the Chaos!]]''. Pumpkaboo has not shown any problem listening to her Trainer.

In [[XY081]] she was awkward when [[Count Pump]]'s {{p|Pumpkaboo}} displayed affections for her but got angry when Jessie considered trading her away and stubbornly entertained the small size Pumpkaboo's affections. Count Pump's Pumpkaboo rejected her after evolution and Jessie was angered, exclaiming that her Pokémon was caring and reliable. Gourgeist was overwhelmed with happiness to hear Jessie defend her and they reunited. The two of them continued acting affectionately in [[XY082]].

Jessie, James, and Meowth dig a trap for our heroes, but they end up falling into it themselves!

Ash and Misty arrive at Pewter City and meet a curious fellow named Flint, who notices that Pikachu is tired and shows them the way to the Pokémon Center.

At the Pokémon Center, Ash reads a poster promoting the Pokémon League Regional Championships—to compete, you have to beat gym leaders from various towns and win their badges. Ash challenges the Pewter City Gym Leader, Brock, but even a healed Pikachu has no chance against Brock's Rock-type Pokémon. Later, Flint shows Ash a surprising side of Brock—when he's not battling and raising Pokémon, he has to take care of his ten brothers and sisters.

Will this news affect Ash's desire to battle Brock again for the Rock Badge? Who is this Flint guy, and why does he insist on helping Ash train Pikachu for the rematch? And will Team Rocket ever climb out of that hole?

==Plot==
The episode begins with {{TRT}} digging a hole. After covering it, they forget exactly where the hole was dug and look around only to fall into it themselves and ended up buried alive.

Meanwhile, {{Ash}}, {{an|Misty}}, and {{AP|Pikachu}} have reached the edge of [[Viridian Forest]] and arrive on the outskirts of [[Pewter City]]. Ash is tired enough that he decides to take a rest on some conveniently placed rocks. However, a nearby man tells him that there is a fee for sitting on the rocks. His name is {{ka|Flint}}, and he is trying to sell rocks as souvenirs. Neither Ash nor Misty are interested.

They head to the [[Pokémon Center]] where Ash is surprised to encounter [[Nurse Joy]]. She explains that she is not the [[Viridian City]] Joy as Ash was obviously inclined to believe, but her older sister. She then shows Ash a poster promoting a tournament called the [[Pokémon League]] Championship and he decides to sign up. Before he can enter, however, he needs to defeat eight Pokémon [[Gym Leader]]s and earn from each a [[Badge|Gym Badge]] as proof of his victory. Flint walks in at this point and tells Ash about Pewter City's Gym Leader, {{an|Brock}}. He is openly skeptical of Ash's chances of winning, and laughs scornfully at the very thought of it.

Later, Ash and Misty discuss the situation over a meal and she warns Ash that Gym Leaders are much tougher than the average Trainer. She offers to help him out, but he declines. This upsets her and she storms out of the restaurant, leaving Ash with the bill.

Ash stops by the Pokémon Center again to pick up his healed [[Party|team]], before making his way to the [[Pewter Gym|Gym]]. Upon arriving he and Pikachu walk inside, only to find the interior pitch black. As Ash calls out, a spotlight switches on to reveal the Gym Leader, Brock, sitting cross-legged on a platform. Ash challenges Brock, who then goes over the official rules and declares that each Trainer may only use two Pokémon in the match. He stands up and asks about Ash's Pikachu, calling it cute but no match for him.

Despite this, Ash begins the match with Pikachu while Brock starts off with {{TP|Brock|Onix}}. Pikachu is understandably intimidated by the giant {{t|rock}} Pokémon and tries to convince Ash to send out {{AP|Pidgeotto}} instead. Ash responds by telling Pikachu that this is its battle, and commands it to use {{m|ThunderShock}}. The {{t|Electric}} attack is woefully ineffective and Brock commands Onix to counter with {{m|Bind}}. It begins to crush Pikachu, inflicting very visible pain. This prompts Ash to recall Pikachu, only to have the attempt thwarted by the larger Pokémon's bulk. Ash cannot bear to watch his friend suffer any more agony, and forfeits the match.

As the dejected Ash leaves the Gym he encounters Flint, who suggests that he follow him to his home. Ash agrees, and over a batch of tea they discuss what happened in the Gym. Flint notices that Ash is obviously upset over his loss, so he consoles him with the knowledge that Brock could be an even better Trainer than he already is. Confused, Ash asks why Brock is not living up to his potential. Flint decides to let Ash see for himself rather than explain.

Flint leads Ash outside and gestures across the way to another house. The two watch as Brock, in a pink apron, cares for his {{Brocksib|nine little brothers and sisters}}. As they walk away Flint explains that after Brock's good-for-nothing father left home to become a Pokémon Trainer his heartbroken mother abandoned them, leaving the eldest Brock to take care of his siblings. Ash empathizes with Brock, but is determined to defeat him. Flint recognizes that determination and mentions that he might know of a way Ash can super-charge Pikachu.

They go to a hydro-electric plant where Flint hooks up the generator to the electric sacs in Pikachu's cheeks. As the river is bone-dry, Ash must run on a large water wheel to generate the electricity, which flows into Pikachu. Misty shows up and offers to lend Ash her {{type|Water}} Pokémon, but Ash refuses, wanting to defeat Brock with his own team. He continues charging Pikachu until the generator overloads and Pikachu's electricity lights up the night sky.

The next day, Ash returns with confidence to the Pewter City Gym for a rematch. Brock is also confident after his easy victory in the last battle, and the two quickly start the rematch. Brock sends out {{TP|Brock|Geodude}}, while Ash sends out {{AP|Pidgeotto}}. However, the {{t|Flying}} type can't seem to harm the Rock type, so Ash recalls him and sends out Pikachu. Misty is seen in the rafters, cheering for Ash, only to be crowded by Brock's siblings.

Brock comments on how weak Pikachu and Ash were, and Ash retorts by commanding Pikachu's attack, which easily knocks Geodude down. Both Brock and Misty are stunned, staring open-mouthed. Brock recalls his Geodude and sends out Onix, and a fearful Pikachu tries to do another Electric attack, damaging the Gym itself instead. Onix wraps Pikachu with Bind, but Pikachu makes a comeback with his new attack, {{m|Thunderbolt}}, which manages to hurt Onix but still isn't enough to take it out. Just as Pikachu is about to pass out, Brock suddenly spares it by calling Onix off. He tells Ash to forfeit again, not wanting to cause further damage to Pikachu. Ash protests, wanting to fight the match to the end.

Suddenly, the Gym's sprinklers are set off by a fire caused by Pikachu's earlier Electric attack. Water sprays all over Onix, weakening him and allowing Pikachu to fight back with another Electric attack. Just as Ash is about to command Pikachu to finish Onix off, he finds he can't move. Brock's brothers and sisters are all holding Ash in place, which Ash believes to be his conscience. Brock orders his brothers and sisters to not get involved, but they protest, knowing that Brock's love of Pokémon would make it painful for him to continue the match and watch his Onix get hurt further.

Ash calls back his Pikachu. He explains that if he defeated Brock now, it would only be because of the sprinklers being set off. He decides he wants to win his Badge fair and square, much to Misty's disappointment, since he is giving up a lucky advantage.

Ash leaves the Pewter Gym, and, on his way out of Pewter City, he apologizes to Pikachu for being so tough. Then, he hears someone calling him, and turns to find Brock running to catch up with him and give him the {{Badge|Boulder}}. Ash says he can't accept the Badge, but Brock insists that Ash has earned it through his kindness to Pokémon. Brock continues to explain that rather than becoming a great Pokémon Trainer, his dream is to become a great Pokémon breeder, but can't do so because of his family duties. He gives Ash the Badge, and asks him to fulfill his dream; Ash agrees to do so.

Suddenly, Flint shows up again, and reveals that he is Brock's "good-for-nothing" father. He explains that he didn't want to return to his family as a failure of a Pokémon Trainer. Ash puzzles over the fact that Flint helped him instead of his son, Brock, and Flint explains that Ash's helplessness reminded him of himself. Flint is ready to take back the responsibilities that he abandoned, which Brock returns to him, along with a long list of tasks for him to remember while taking care of the children.

That evening, Ash and Brock travel on the road out of Pewter City. Brock asks to make sure that it is okay that he joins Ash on his Pokémon journey, and Ash insists that he is glad to have him along. However, Misty is a different story, and from several paces behind she yells at him to not forget about her [[bicycle|bike]]. Ash and Pikachu try to ditch Misty, followed by Brock and the angry girl herself.

Team Rocket show up at the end for a final cameo, finally managing to burst out of their self-made tomb via a power drill, only to end up trampled by {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} as they run over the hole in the ground, unaware of the people underfoot.

==Blurb==

At Mount Moon, our friends rescue a scientist named Seymour from a batch of Zubat. (Along the way, Brock is able to catch one of the Zubat.) Seymour leads Ash and his friends into a cave to find the legendary Moon Stone, which is said to increase the power of Pokémon.

Deep in the cave, Ash spots a Clefairy carrying a Moon Stone. He considers capturing it, but Seymour tells him Clefairy prefer to live at Mount Moon. Ash decides to leave the Clefairy in peace, but Team Rocket shows up with plans of their own!

Will Team Rocket steal the Moon Stone? Are there other Clefairy lurking about, and do they carry Moon Stones, too? And is the legend of the Moon Stone true?

==Plot==
{{Ash}}, {{an|Misty}} and {{an|Brock}} are hiking toward [[Mt. Moon]], talking about the legend that a meteor called "The {{evostone|Moon Stone}}" crashed into the mountain in prehistoric times. Near the foot of the mountain, they encounter a man being attacked by a flock of {{p|Zubat}}. [[Pokédex|Dexter]] reports that Zubat live in caves and hate to {{m|fly}} outside in daylight.

Misty reminds Ash that the man needs help, and Ash orders {{AP|Pikachu}} to use {{m|ThunderShock}}. The Zubat fly away, and the man, who is wearing a lab coat, hugs Ash and thanks him profusely. He introduces himself as [[Seymour]], a scientist. He is upset because someone has installed strung lights inside the nearby cave that are disrupting the {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} who live inside—not just the Zubat, but the {{p|Paras}} and {{p|Sandshrew}} as well.

Seymour explains that he believes that the attackers are after the Moon Stone. He says that it is a massive boulder, believed to be a million years old or more, and hidden deep in the caves under the mountain. Fragments of the Stone are said to increase a Pokémon's power. Seymour theorizes that this is because the native Pokémon came from outer space, and the Moon Stone was their spacecraft—which means the Stone belongs to the Pokémon, and that the humans must leave it alone.

A {{p|Clefairy}} bounces past, carrying something. Ash scans it on his Pokédex and decides to catch it, but Seymour says it's better to let it be. The Clefairy is trapped by {{MTR}}, who is in turn challenged by Ash. Brock and Ash agree that they have to stop {{TRT}}, before they make any more trouble—which immediately leads to [[James]] and [[Jessie]] reciting their {{motto}}.

Team Rocket freely admit to putting up the lights; Meowth even says they want a Moon Stone so they can power up their Pokémon. Ash and Brock challenge Jessie and James. Jessie summons {{TP|Jessie|Ekans}}, while Ash calls {{AP|Butterfree}}. James calls on {{TP|James|Koffing}}, and Brock uses a previously-unseen {{TP|Brock|Zubat}}, which he says that he captured just before they entered the cave, to Ash's envy at his missed opportunity.

James orders Koffing to generate a {{m|Smog}} attack. Ash counters with Butterfree's {{m|Whirlwind}}, and Brock asks Zubat to use {{m|Double Team}}; the two Pokémon turn the Smog back on Team Rocket, much to their surprise.

Misty and Seymour escape as Ekans attacks Butterfree and Koffing slams Zubat. Brock tells Zubat to "go {{m|Supersonic}}!", and the high-pitched signal confuses Koffing and Ekans, who proceed to attack each other. Ash asks Butterfree for another Whirlwind, hoping to "blow them all the way out of the cave!" Team Rocket flies away again, but Brock and Ash suddenly realize they have lost track of Meowth.

Misty and Seymour had been following the Clefairy, which makes its way out of the cave. They follow it up the mountain, where Meowth is waiting for them. He demands the Moon Stone. Misty summons her {{TP|Misty|Staryu}} by dropping its {{ball|Poké}} into the river. She orders a {{m|Swift}} attack, followed immediately by a {{m|Water Gun}}. The water stream hits Meowth in the face; he rapidly fills up with water, then flies away like a balloon as the water is expelled from his mouth.

Brock feeds all the Pokémon with {{DL|Pokémon food|In the anime|Pokémon food}} made according to his own special, secret recipe . Seymour tastes it and deems it "not bad;" Ash follows suit and finds it awful. Meanwhile, Clefairy and Pikachu are having a conversation on a nearby rock. They hop away, followed by the rest of the group.

They arrive at another cave, where they find the huge core of the Moon Stone. Clefairy adds its stone to the ring at the base of the core, which completes the "circuit". All the small stones, then the large core, begin to glow blue in the moonlight. Dozens of Clefairy approach and begin to dance around the Moon Stone. Misty, Ash and Brock play "charades" with Pikachu to learn that the Clefairy are praying to the Stone. Seymour concludes that humans are supposed to ride the Stone back out to the stars, but his epiphany is interrupted by the return of Team Rocket.

Seymour attacks Team Rocket to keep them from the Stone, but Meowth trips him, and he is out of the action because his glasses fall off. Ash attacks with Pikachu, while Brock summons {{TP|Brock|Onix}}; as usual, Jessie and James call on Ekans and Koffing. Jessie orders a {{m|Dig}} attack, and James orders a {{m|SmokeScreen}}. Ash then summons {{AP|Pidgeotto}} and orders it to {{m|Whirlwind}} the smoke away. When the smoke clears, Team Rocket is gone, and the Moon Stone with them.

Brock orders Onix to {{m|Dig}} and follow Team Rocket underground, while the humans and other Pokémon run through the caves. One of the Clefairy retrieves Seymour's glasses for him.

Team Rocket is sliding downhill with the Stone on a sled. Onix appears suddenly, upsetting the sled. Onix attempts to {{m|Tackle}} Team Rocket, but Koffing counters, and both Pokémon fall to the ground stunned. Seymour and the Clefairy appear from Onix's tunnel. The Clefairy use a {{m|Metronome}} attack to {{m|Hypnosis|hypnotize}} the humans, then follow up with what appears to be a {{m|Hyper Beam}}, sending Team Rocket flying off once more.

Chips of the Moon Stone drift down from the sky; as they fall on the Clefairy, many of the Clefairy [[Evolution|evolve]] into {{p|Clefable}}. Seymour stays with the Clefairy and Clefable, hoping to someday visit outer space with them.

Ash, Misty and Brock move on toward [[Cerulean City]]. Gary had left graffiti on a sign stating, "Gary was here! Ash is a loser!" Seeing it, Ash takes off down the road at a run as the episode ends.

* Seymour states he was working for the {{tt|Nibi|Pewter City}} Museum in the Japanese version. This was not mentioned in the dub.
* Seymour talks about romance in the Japanese version, while he recites poetry in the English version.
* Seymour's two main virtues are changed from Love and Courage (original) to Knowledge and Research (dub). When he announces the virtues, the Japanese version has them written in the background. The dub erased all of the kanji from the English version.
* Ash makes a reference to the {{wp|Macarena (song)|Macarena}} when Pikachu uses {{wp|charades}} to speak to him. The original line references the {{wp|Bon Festival|Bon Dance}}.
** In the original version, they stated that the Clefairy were protecting their god, referring to the large Moon Stone. Though the general gist of the dialog remained in the dub, the fact that the Moon Stone was seen by the Clefairy as a deity was not referenced.
* "Cerulean City" is translated on the sign directing towards it. Gary's message changes from "Shigeru is the best! Satoshi is an idiot!" to "Gary was here! Ash is a loser!". Also, it had Gary's transparent image superimposed over the sign. It showed him pulling down his eyelid and sticking his tongue out at the same time, a childish Japanese taunting gesture (an ''{{wp|akanbe}}''), which was eliminated from the English dub.

====Differences between the episode and the comic adaptation====
* Most of the lines about Seymour going to space, specifically Ash and his friends' responses to him, were moved to when they are leaving Mt. Moon in the comic.
* The scene where Ash reads Gary's message on the sign leading to Cerulean City retains Gary's faded bii-da facial expression, something that was cut in the English Dub of the episode.
* The ending narration for the comic (at least the one contained in Nintendo Power) was also changed, where the narrator adds in that to continue Ash's adventure, the reader might try to buy Pokémon Red and Blue. In addition, Misty exclaims "ASH!" offscreen as Ash is racing towards Cerulean City while leaving Brock and Misty in the dust, and Brock's line of "he'll never learn..." is moved to his racing down.
