Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia about Pokémon to which anyone can contribute. Since its launch in February 2005, it has grown to become one of the largest Pokémon resources on the internet. As part of Bulbagarden, this ever-growing wiki is supported by Bulbanews, Bulbagarden Archives, and the Bulbagarden Forums. You're welcome to browse for a while, if you wish, or make an account to start editing pages.

We have 23,149 articles on a range of Pokémon-related topics.

If you have any questions, first see the FAQ page. If this doesn't help, find an active staff member. They'll point you in the right direction.

Message from the Editor
December 20 446

With every changing of the guard, a new deputy must be chosen. The person who is the new deputy Editor-in-Chief has a lot of experience on Bulbapedia. She has been staff for four years, and in that time she quickly rose to the Editorial Board. She has proven herself a reliable and dedicated staff member. Most recently, she has been taking care of our images as Archives Director. The new deputy Editor-in-Chief of Bulbapedia is none other than Kogoro.

In addition, the vacant Head of Games position on the Editorial Board is filled. The Head of Games is responsible for overseeing game-related matters, and is the highest authority on them besides the Editor-in-Chief, deputy and Editorial Board as a whole. This position goes to someone who has impressed with the quality of some of her earliest edits, and never looked back. She has shown to be an adept editor over a range of different sections and impressed with her handling of some issues. Congratulations Jo The Marten and welcome to the Editorial Board.

A few other dedicated users receive promotions. Congratulations to Adyniz, Dennou Zenshi, Spriteit, 神奇超龍 and G50.

With the formalities over, on behalf of the staff of Bulbagarden we would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and happy New Year.

You have new messages on your talk page!
Please do not ignore them, as they may be important.

SUPER OPINION TIME

Yayness

Nice and noticeable. And if people ignore it, the nice Bulbasaur turns into BulbaBot and starts threatening them before going on a murderous rampage.--MisterE13 01:35, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Haha, it's awesome, and I agree with TTE; it should be as annoying as possible.----無限の知性DENNOUZENSHI 07:38, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Booness

It is extremely annoying and I would only want it to happen if there was a way to shut it off. Also, no categories in the User talk space We have non category templates for a reason. MaverickNate 08:57, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

  • Same, it is really annoying, I'd rather leave it at the top of the page. Masatoshitalk 08:59, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
The point is to be annoying so no one can ignore it ever again. I'm sick of those excuses so I'm doing something about it. And next project is preventing the excuse of "lol i dint no the stiles".
And no. There won't be a way to shut it off except to visit your talk page and see what kind of message you've been left. Same as always. I don't care if you're intelligent enough to know to check your talk page, but we apparently have a vast multitude of users who don't care to notice the current one that stays at the top.
I don't like the Bulbasaur being there. It messes with my monobook, which already makes new messages highly noticeable. However I don't completely hate it. I think it could work as a punishment for users who receive a lot of warnings but still continue to cause problems. Much like how we can make the preview button enormous if users don't use it enough. But there's no reason for constructive users, who do check their messages, to have to put up with this. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 08:05, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
It's either all or nothing, unfortunately. And of course the most unfortunate part is that 90% of users ignore the first message we give them. TTEchidna 09:09, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
don't know whether this belongs under yayness or booness, but I don't like how it sticks to the page so far down. If you are having it follow you, it should be from the top of the page. Otherwise, I do like it for its purpose, but I see it annoying me and other users who do read their talk page. --SnorlaxMonster 13:57, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
Personally, I think it's way too annoying but to keep it aside, that's a kind of thing we need since a large amount of users ignores their talk page messages with their "Oops, sorry I was too busy editing my userpage, didn't see it there" excuse. However, as SM & Jo mentioned, it isn't fair to the users who do check their messages right away. May sound weird but is there any possible way to apply this "new message" temp on new users only; excluding the autoconfirmed and staff members? ♫♪エイディニズ♪♫ 14:36, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
If you check them right away it'll just disappear anyway...--MisterE13 21:57, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
What if it's just a n00b with a random non-pokemon related question, which is just stupid? Or a spammer? It distracts you a lot.—★Pika3323 22:01, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
