  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.

This is a test to see if I can add anything to my discussion page. Good, it works. Can anyone tell me how I can add things to my user profile? It says I can't change it until I edit existing articles, but I've already made 6 edits so far. -- ShalashaskaADV

It is unkown how many edits you need to make, keep editing and you'll soon get the pleasure Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 21:21, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Whoa, thank you, 05308. I didn't think I'd get a reply so soon if at all. --ShalashaskaADV 21:31, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Your trivia

Has been less than satisfactory, I hate to tell you. Much of it is unnotable or incorrect and I had to revert most of your edits. Also, Please understand the difference between game mechanics and anime mechanics before you write down something as an error. The Pink Butterfree is no way shape or form an error. It existed way before gender differences and shiny Pokémon were created. They animators can't foretell the future.

And when you see a piece of trivia or an error that is incorrect and is stated in the article, just remove it. Don't put "Actually the first piece of trivia is incorrect" directly in the article as that is very unprofessional. If you want so say something is incorrect, please go to the talk page of the article.

One more thing, please be sure you put trivia in the correct article. Duplica and Lt. Surge's nicknames for Ash belong in their articles, not the episode articles.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. --ケンジガール 00:59, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Hello

ShalashaskaADV, user and senior administrator Kenji-Girl was not in any way breaking the code of conduct. In fact quite the opposite. If you have read the Code of Conduct, you would see that she was doing the opposite and trying to help you with editing on our site. Something we admins approve of. In fact, she is also an admin trying to help you. So please do not say she is violating the code of conduct because she is doing the opposite. Thank you for your time. --CoolPikachu! 02:13, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

I agree since I noticed from your edits that you need to chill out and learn how things work around here, instead of resorting to anger and doing something irrational like that. Other than that just try to learn from your experiences and you can do fine. -Tyler53841 02:20, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Your mistakes

Since you wanted me to go in detail on why I reverted your edits, I wrote an explanation here:

This is false. Ash first cried in the very first episode and then again in Here Comes the Squirtle Squad
Unnotable as Ash cries a lot. So it isn't "one of the rare instances".
Nurse Joy's cross changes color in each city. It isn't always red. And the reason that Todd is called "Snap" is mentioned on Todd's page. As I said, it doesn't need to be pointed out in the article.
  1. Duplica's nickname for Ash belongs on Duplica's page, not the episode article.
  2. You were making a reference to RocketShipping. RocketShipping is not canon in the anime and should not be mentioned on the main pages.
  3. Again, you are pointing out incorrect trivia on the page itself when you should have consulted the talkpage. And the trivia isn't wrong anyway. It's says "This is the first time that Ash and his friends mock Team Rocket's motto completely." They only said the beginning in EP021.
  4. Maybe that could have stayed, but I think it is already mentioned on Duplica's Ditto's article.
That didn't seem notable to me, personally. And I think it is in the episode summary somewhere.
  1. You don't need to point out when a Pokémon shares the same voice actor with a human. That's what the voice actors articles are for.
  2. Games =/= Anime, therefor it is not an error. Ghost Pokémon possess unique powers that are non existent in the games.
  3. Some reason as number 2.
I explained about the nickname and Brock never flirts with Nurse Joy during an emergency situation. He's done this multiple times in future episodes.

So yeah, that's why I reverted those edits. --ケンジガール 05:23, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I'll go through your criticisms in order.

My edit to EP021 and Snow Way Out!

"This is false. Ash first cried in the very first episode and then again in Here Comes the Squirtle Squad," and "Unnotable as Ash cries a lot. So it isn't 'one of the rare instances'."

I'm assuming this a problem with semantics once again. By "shedding tears," I don't mean getting watery eyes (like what happens when Ash is lying on the ground with Pikachu or when Pikachu licks Ash's face in the first episode). This obviously happens a lot, I agree. By "shedding tears," I mean tears that actually fall down your cheeks or out of your eyes, such as what happens to Ash during really emotional moments like in "Bye Bye Butterfree," "Pikachu's Goodbye," and "Snow Way Out!". Do you see what I mean now?

My edit to EP056

"Nurse Joy's cross changes color in each city. It isn't always red."

Does it really change color with each city? In EP078, where Brock's going crazy with all the Nurse Joy's and Officer Jenny's running around, the Celadon City and Saffron City Nurse Joys have red crosses. I just checked EP002, and the Viridian City Joy has a red cross. Oh, the Joy from Pewter city has a bluish cross in EP005--I didn't notice that before. Perhaps that would be good trivia for EP005; that is, if you still disagree that most of the Joys have red crosses. What do you think?

"And the reason that Todd is called "Snap" is mentioned on Todd's page. As I said, it doesn't need to be pointed out in the article."

Oh, I see. You're right, it doesn't.

My edit to EP037

"Duplica's nickname for Ash belongs on Duplica's page, not the episode article."

All right, fine.

"You were making a reference to RocketShipping. RocketShipping is not canon in the anime and should not be mentioned on the main pages."

Yes, I did make a reference to Rocketshipping in my second sentence, "Apparently, It's not James." Could we just remove the second sentence and leave the first?

"Again, you are pointing out incorrect trivia on the page itself when you should have consulted the talkpage. And the trivia isn't wrong anyway. It's says "This is the first time that Ash and his friends mock Team Rocket's motto completely." They only said the beginning in EP021."

I see. It's another problem with semantics: I thought the person meant Ash, Misty, and Brock completely mocked the motto instead of mocked the whole motto. I think this trivia fact should be rewritten more clearly to avoid this confusion. How does "This is the first time that Ash and his friends mock the whole Team Rocket motto" sound?

"Maybe that could have stayed, but I think it is already mentioned on Duplica's Ditto's article."

I just checked the article, and there wasn't anything about it.

My edit to EP012

"That didn't seem notable to me, personally. And I think it is in the episode summary somewhere."

I checked the episode summary, and it says Team Rocket were carrying ice guns. While it's true Jessie's bazooka fired off an ice bomb, there wasn't any proof that James' weapon was similar. In fact, what's interesting is that you see James holding the automatic weapon when he's robbing the store, but as Team Rocket is leaving and Jessie fires her weapon, James' weapon is missing; he's carrying the robbed goods instead. I think this is very notable, since it makes you wonder why the whole episode wasn't censored due to all the guns, explosions, and crime. Wouldn't you say?

My edit to EP020

"You don't need to point out when a Pokémon shares the same voice actor with a human. That's what the voice actors articles are for."

All right, fine.

"Games =/= Anime, therefor it is not an error. Ghost Pokémon possess unique powers that are non existent in the games."

I agree: the games are different from the anime. However, even in the anime it is an error because other Gastly don't share the same abilities; that is, they can't talk or do those transformations, which makes the Gastly in that episode very special. But like we agreed on before, this is just a semantics problem like with the Pink Butterfree. Everyone (Ash, the others in the episode, and the storywriters) was aware of this, so it isn't an error.

My edit to EP014

"I explained about the nickname and Brock never flirts with Nurse Joy during an emergency situation. He's done this multiple times in future episodes."

I agree with you now about the nickname. But even before the emergency happens (i.e. before the Rattata and its trainer came rushing in), Brock isn't blushing or flirting with Nurse Joy like he usually does. Also, when she said she thought she was the prettiest Nurse Joy, Brock didn't seem all that eager to convince her that she was. He just replied with a "Yeah."

Thanks for explaining your reasons. Next time please talk to me first before you do any revisions, since some of my edits might actually be worthy trivia facts. --ShalashaskaADV 08:51, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

One thing I might add is that when post your response please try to make it as short as possible and avoid using unnecessary words considering it is too time consuming and difficult to read through all those minature paragraphs and it clutters up talk pages. Also if when I write longer messages I make sure to use the preview button to help carefully read and monitor my words and links carefully to reduce grammar errors as much as possible. That's the friendly advice I can give you. -Tyler53841 09:03, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for the advice. Could I please ask where you see a grammar error in what I've written? --ShalashaskaADV 09:07, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
What I meant by that is re-reading over your work since there is sometimes bound an error when writing longer and more complex messages, kinda like how I wrote episode summaries (on different sites) and then checked my work to reduce the amount of mistakes. -Tyler53841 09:10, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Talk page editing

You aren't allowed to alter messages on your talk page. It is against the talk page policy. Morover, editing your own talk page that much also abuses the talk page policy as it is considered abuse of the rules, so be aware of that. Also, I've seen your attitude has been less than acceptable at times, so I advise you to calm down. -- MAGNEDETH 01:28, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

I was replying to Kenji-Girl's post on my talk page. How is there anything wrong with that if this is supposed to be a discussion?
Regarding my attitude, everyone gets upset sometimes, so just forget about it. It's not like I was using bad language or saying anything offensive. Why do you concern yourself with that anyway? --ShalashaskaADV 17:48, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
...Because he's in charge. Virtual-Z 17:59, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
In charge of what? --ShalashaskaADV 18:18, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
He is the editor-in-chief of Bulbapedia, so it's sort of his duty to keep everything somewhat peaceful. Virtual-Z 18:19, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
Editor in chief = whom all the Bulbapedia's staff answer to. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 18:21, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
I see. MAGNEDETH, would you please quote the rule(s) you believe I'm breaking/abusing? I'd appreciate it. --ShalashaskaADV 22:25, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
Under the talk page policy (which i linked in my initial message above) under the "Talk page etiquette" sub-section, it states that you may not remove comments, which you did (over the span of 12 edits, which is also against the rules) starting on Feb 14th at 09:14 UTC to Feb 17th 01:07 UTC.
As for your attitude? Well, it goes without saying that you should be nice, and I know that sometimes people just get upset, but you don't have to use profane language to break the code of conduct. There's just numerous cases where you could use a chill pill. Again, not saying you're exploding on everyone, but you should still relax.
Also, if you don't know who I am, that means you didn't read, or even skim, your Welcome, which details greatly a number of the rules, policies, and a whole lot more of our site. It would benefit you greatly. -- MAGNEDETH 02:40, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay, first of all I did not remove any of the comments I posted. I responded to Kenji-Girl's message on my page a few days ago, read it again later, and found out it could have been written better. I just revised my own message to make it more understandable and readable. As a chief editor, I expect you to understand this. I noticed that the revisions I made were cancelled, and I believe this is your doing from the emails I received. I spent more than half an hour making those corrections, so I have to say I'm most ungrateful.
Secondly, I've admitted to overreacting and apologized for it twice to Kenji-Girl, so I don't believe I'm not making an effort to abide by the code of conduct and be nice. I did read through the rules and policies; I just didn't bother to take note of and memorize who you were since I didn't think it would be important (I don't mean offense).
Lastly, I would like to point out that I'm not the only one at fault here. Kenji-Girl has not followed the code of conduct in her interactions with me. In what follows, I'll quote the code of conduct (in blue) and explain how she hasn't abided to it.
"On regular pages, if you think somebody's wrong about a fact, and they don't think they're wrong, an edit war can ensue. While that is going on, do try to talk it out politely on the talk pages. Outline why you think they're wrong—factually, not stylistically—and expect them to do the same for you."
If you read the first topic on my discussion page, "Your Trivia," you'll see that Kenji-Girl made no attempt to talk with me and discuss what she thought was wrong with my edits before she revised/deleted my posts. Additionally, she misquoted me and called me "unprofessional" for stating proof why someone else's trivia was incorrect instead of deleting the incorrect trivia in an article.
I spent half my day on Sunday last weekend making edits I believed to be correct, and I got her message saying what I wrote was incorrect and unnotable and that I was unprofessional. She deleted most of what I wrote without explaining anything. It's for this reason I became upset. I tried to keep my cool, but every other administrator who got involved in the conversation (CoolPikachu!, Tyler53841, and Carmen97) thought I was the "irrational" one (quoted from Tyler53841) and person at fault, not Kenji-Girl. I hope you understand now my frustration wasn't wholly unjustified. I'd like to ask you to remind Kenji-Girl to follow the code of conduct so that she'll set a good example to other new users on this site like myself. Thank you for taking the time to read this, MAGNEDETH. --ShalashaskaADV 04:38, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Ahem. I never said you were unprofessional. Do not put words in my mouth. I said what you did looked unprofessional. BIG DIFFERENCE. I thought you didn't like misquoting.
I took the time out of my day to list what you did wrong and you still are not satisfied and are saying that I should learn the code of conduct. I didn't have to do that. I did it in hopes that we can put this behind us. But no, it's not good enough. You still want to keep bringing it up instead of moving on.
If several different people are saying that you are overreacting, chances are that you are indeed overreacting. Please just let it go and move on. --ケンジガール 06:19, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
"[...] directly in the article as that is very unprofessional."
I only quoted the word, "unprofessional," which you did say. You did not say what I did "looked unprofessional." I interpreted the above quote as you calling me unprofessional, since you didn't say explicitly what you meant. Thus, I'm not misquoting you. You're putting in words that weren't in your original message.
And yes, you didn't follow the code of conduct. I explained above how you didn't follow it. It's true you explained your reasons for revising/deleting my posts on my discussion page, but you only did so after I posted two long emails on your discussion page asking for it. In addition, I've replied to some of the reasons you gave on my discussion page, but you haven't replied back yet. I'm sorry my responses aren't written as well as they should be; MAGNEDETH erased the revisions I made, so let me know if anything's unclear.
I would like to move on from this debate, too, but people still won't stop bothering me about how I overreacted. I don't deny that I did, and I explained above my reasons for doing so. The problem I have is that people like CoolPikachu! say you didn't break the code of conduct when you did, and they're saying I'm the only one who's done wrong. --ShalashaskaADV 07:22, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi everyone.

I've watched this unfold over the past week or so. It's clear it's gotten a bit out of hand now. As all involved parties have indicated they've had enough, let's just drop this discussion entirely. I'm sure we can all take something out of it for the future. Out of courtesy, I request that no one comments after me in this section on this talk page. Also, do not bring it up on another talk page.

With thanks, —darklordtrom (Bulbapedia Community Manager) 10:24, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
