User:TTEchidna/Generation V
From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.
I'm taking it on myself to start organization for the inevitable Generation V. Soooooo... away we go.
The order that Gen V will likely be revealed will be as follows:
- New Pokémon
- New Pokémon related to old Pokémon
- New player characters
- New region
- New dex order
- New team
- New professor
- English translation

New Pokémon
At first, the new Pokémon's infobox should have no dex number data. Previous regional dexes will autofill as —, and National Dex will autofill as ?. Above all, NOTHING should be filled in besides the name, jname, tmname, image, and caption. Name should, of course, be the same as jname at first, until an English name is released. Even the new regional Pokédex number should not be filled in unless it is known, knowing that some new Pokémon from Generation IV, like Electivire, did not have a regional dex number.
Evolutionary data should be filled in assuming that the new Pokémon is unrelated to previous ones, unless other new Pokémon are known to be related to it. It is for this that we will put only the stage of evolution, not the method, if it is unknown. For new Pokémon that are related to old Pokémon, see the section below.
New Pokémon related to old Pokémon
Like the above, no dex data should be filled in. However, relation to old Pokémon should be demonstrated both on its page and the pages of any pre-evolved older generation relatives. For example, when Gallade was released, it appeared in the evolutionary data for Ralts and Kirlia, but not Gardevoir, because it was a parallel evolution. If a male evolution for Combee was ever released, the following would appear on the Combee page:
However, Vespiquen's evolutionary data would remain the same, and the new evolution in question would have a similar case: it would only display Combee and itself, ignoring the existence of the parallel evolution, as is done with the rest. For Pokémon which do not cause an evolutionary line to branch, the new evolution or pre-evolution must merely be added.
New region
When the name of the new region is released, a slot for its dex list should immediately be added to the {{PokémonInfobox}} template (as {initial}dex), and like the others, it should default to a value of -. A new page should also be created, the [[List of Pokémon by {region name} Dex number]], and it should be filled in with whatever data is at the time known. Pokémon which receive new evolutions should be placed below the rest with their evolution families, at the end of the page, just in case they happen to be included in the regional dex list.
When the first route in the region is revealed, it will likely not be the first route encountered. Like Route 219 in Sinnoh, however, it is safe to assume that, if this route is in the 300's, the region's routes will go from 301 to at least that number.
New team
When a new villainous team is introduced, it will likely be known as "{Name}-dan" or "{Name} Gang" ({Name}-団). This should be translated literally to English, and the page should be known as "Team {Name}".
New professor
The Pokémon professor of the region will also be known as "{Name}-hakase" or "Dr. {Name}" ({Name}博士). This, like the villainous team, should be interpreted as "Professor {Name}".
English translation
After the Japanese release of the games has passed, and all is known of them, details of the English translations will gradually leak until the day of the English release. Make sure you can back up any new information.
...yeah, not finished with this yet. BUT. I shall be working on it eventually. After all, I have a few years.
