For the most part people have only been discussing GSDS. However I would like to point out all the Gens so far have had a sister game (yellow, crystal, and emerald.) Also after R/S came out the next to come out was fr/lg so it is more likely a sister game will come out before a remake.
In Gen 2 we had an item used to get celebi. But before it turned into that item(GS Ball ironicaly only avalible in crystal) it was and INVISBLE placeholder that only hackers could see or access. So if they can do that with an item why not a pokemon? There is even a pokemon to prove this theory that you can introduce NEW data into the game… Deoxys. Even though Deoxys is not emeralds “official” mascot it is still widely associated with emerald.
I will even climb out onto a sudowoodo’s limb and say Shaymin or Arceus might be linked to gen 4s sister game as Deoxys with emerald and that is why Nintendo tries to hide the fact they even exist. (as seen with the Japanese Elite 4 Glitch patch.)
