Cody (Japanese: キオシ Kioshi) is a recurring character of the Pokémon anime and a one of Dawn's rivals. His English voice actor is Matthew Mitler and his Japanese voice actor is Kōji Tsujitani.

Cody first appearance was in DP061. He was going to compete in the the contest in Solaceon Town along with Dawn. He was watching Dawn training her newly traded Ambipom right outside the contest hall. Cody recognized immidiately that Ambipom didn't belong to Dawn for very long because of the lack of connection between the two. He advised her not to use Ambipom in the contest and to wait a little longer until it was properly trained. However Ambipom wanted to be in the contest and became angry with Cody. Dawn didn't take it as advise but more as a sabotage. She believed that Cody thought Ambipom was too good and that he was afraid of losing to it.

During Cody's appeal, he used his Swampert. With a terrific combination of Mud Bomb and Ice Beam he made it to the second round. At the very end he faced Dawn and her Ambipom. For this round he chose his Gallade to battle. Unfortunately for Dawn, Gallade made quick work of Ambipom and Cody earned the Solaceon ribbon.

Dawn would face Cody again in DP100 during a Double performance contest held in Pastoria City. Cody appealed with his Gabite and Magmortar. In the second round his first battle was to go against Dawn again. He used his Gallade and Swampert against her Ambipom and Prinplup. This time around Dawn was more closely bonded with Ambipom and she narrowly defeated Cody.

Cody is Samantha's best friend and part-time traveling buddy. He began his journey on the same day that she and Harrison did. At first he and Samantha didn't start off as friends. He had a very arrogant attitude and frequently critized Samantha as being a weak trainer. He and Samantha would get into many arguments. But one day Samantha defeated him in a battle and since then, he's gained more and more respect for her and eventually developed feelings for her.
