Here's a proposed system of simple new rules for the site:

• Be nice to everyone.
• Make good edits. Size doesn't matter, nor does quantity.
  • Good edits are edits which add relevant content to, or delete irrelevant content from, a page. They may also increase the page's clarity or improve the overall visual style of the page.
  • Bad edits include edits which add opinion or speculation to a page. They may also remove relevant information from a page.
• Utilize Wikicode when adding content to a page.
• Use proper grammar and spelling.
• The userspace is not a free-for-all social space. It's okay to use it, but don't abuse it.
• Follow dispute resolution procedures. Don't start edit wars.
• Do not have an excessively long, garish, or otherwise overbearing signature.
• Do not abuse the Archives. The Archives are supposed to be used as a repository for Bulbapedia information, not personal images.
  • Do not hotlink to the Archives from other sites.
• If you have a question about something, be proactive. Ask for help.
  • Do not assume a question is "too stupid" or beneath you. All requests for assistance have merit.
• If you have to criticize other users, do so constructively.
• If you revert a page, explain why you reverted said page, even if the reason is simple (i.e., "vandalism" or "incoherent addition")
• Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~)

This is a short list of guidelines which govern basic behavior. It is not a substitute for following the Manual of Style, which deals with the style of pages, and is not exhaustive. It is not meant to supersede more specific guidelines.
