Introduction

I am Jos van Ballegooijen, better known around the internet as Dilophosaurus Rex or GeneralSecura. I am a pretty good Pokémon battler. Though I do not have any major wins behind my name, I did get into the finals of a major tournament. If you want to find out for yourself how good I am, then you can challenge me on my TALK PAGE.

The Pokémon Top 504

The Pokémon Top 504 is a project of mine where I list ALL Pokémon in order from worst to best. I know there are only 493 Pokémon, but I count the forms of Rotom, Giratina, Shaymin, Deoxys and Wormadam as different Pokémon.

For the progress on the Pokémon Top 504, go here: Pokémon Top 504

My history with Pokémon

Ah, I remember most of it well. I can recall being around 6 years old when Fox Kids Holland started airing the Pokémon anime. I was hooked. It was AWESOME. I watched every single episode of the anime when they aired. When I was 7, my dad bought me a Game Boy Color and Pokémon Blue. Even though I didn't understand any of it (I spent over two hours talking to the woman outside of your house because I thought it was a Jynx, and I wanted to capture it) I enjoyed every minute of it. My little brother wanted in on the fun, so my parents bought him a Game Boy Color and Pokémon Red. I cheated him out of trading me the version exclusives for a load of Magikarps. When I heard about Pokémon Yellow coming out, I just had to have it. So I got Pokémon Yellow and played through the adventure all over again.

I was 9 when Gold & Silver were released. I was overjoyed at the idea of more Pokémon and a bigger game. So I got Gold and played the heck out of it until the internal battery died. My little brother got Silver, but he sucked at it so he didn't play it nearly as much as he did Red. In the end, I ended up taking Silver from him and playing it myself because I wanted Skarmory and Lugia. When Crystal was released, I bought it as well. And what do you know? The Pokémon actually move in this game! AWESOME! And because I was older when Crystal was released, I understood the concept of the game better. No longer did I teach my Pokémon multiple attacks of the same type (seriously, my Blastoise on Blue knew Water Gun, Surf, Hydro Pump and Hyper Beam) but I taught them moves that could actually help them. Like teaching my Poliwrath Ice Punch to help against Grass-types. I really played the heck out of Crystal (clocked in at least 300 hours).

When Ruby & Sapphire came out, I bought Ruby and my little brother bought Sapphire. I remember catching my first shiny on Ruby. I had just started out with my Torchic, caught a Taillow and a Zigzagoon and went for Petalburg Forest. In there, I encountered multiple Bug-types, but I really freaked out when I ran into a yellow Cascoon. I thought to myself: Wait, aren't Cascoon supposed to be purple? I caught it, evolved it, and it turned into a Dustox with yellow wings. AWESOME! I was overjoyed with my shiny, since I was the only one of my friends who had one. They were so jealous, LOL. My little brother hardly played Sapphire so I ended up getting that one as well. Same with Fire Red & Leaf Green. Brother got FR, I got LG, brother didn't like FR, I ended up getting both. I also bought Emerald when it came out, and spent hours in the Battle Frontier. I loved that place, and that's why I'm looking forward to Platinum, so I can use my new Pokémon in the Battle Frontier.

I was looking forward to Diamond & Pearl for a long time. When my neighbours went to the USA on holiday, I asked them if they could bring back Pokémon Pearl for me. They ended up doing it and I had Pokémon Pearl before all my friends got it. During this time, I also learned about EV-training, and how it was a neccisity if you even wanted to stand a chance online. So I got the Power Items and started EV-training, with the huge list of Pokémon at the top of my userpage as result. Whenever I have some free time, I boot up Pokémon Pearl and go hatch some eggs for a good-natured baby or EV-train a Pokémon. I have put almost 700 hours into this game so far. I also bought Diamond to get the version-exclusives, and to get good-natured legendaries, since I caught Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Heatran, Regigigas, Giratina and Cresselia before I started EV-training, and had either ruined them already, or they had poor natures.

I now intend to buy Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver when they're released to further continue my collection of Pokémon games. Game on!

  • Yanmega is my favorite Pokémon of all time. From the first moment I saw it, I knew I had to get one. And I did get one. As it turned out, Yanmega is a fantastic battling Pokémon, so I bred my first Yanmega for a timid Yanma and EV-trained it. Now, I never go into battle without taking my Yanmega with me. It's so strong. I think it's great that Jessie caught a Yanmega in the anime, so it gets screentime quite often. I would've liked it more if Ash had caught it, but hey, at least it's appearing regularly in the anime.
  • Bastiodon is one of my favorite Pokémon as well. I am a dinosaur nut, so when Shieldon was first revealed, I wanted one on my team. Bastiodon was one of the Pokémon I had on my team when I defeated the Pokémon League for the first time. Sure it couldn't damage shit, but it was a great Pokémon to switch to when I needed to revive one of my other Pokémon. I have yet to EV-train a Bastiodon, though. Gotta get around to that sometime.
  • Rampardos is an awesome Pokémon. As stated with Bastiodon, I am a dinosaur nut, so I had to have a Rampardos. Rampardos was one of the first Pokémon I EV-trained. It's hella strong, but it can't take hits at all. That's why mine is holding a Focus Sash, for at least one turn of dealing immense damage.
  • Torterra holds a place dear to me, because it was my first Pokémon on Pearl. It helped me throughout the entire game with its powerful Wood Hammer and Earthquake attacks. The one Professor Rowan gave me had an adamant nature, but I let that go to waste because I wasn't into EV-training back then. So I let my precious starter father a new Turtwig with an adamant nature, which I EV-trained and it kicks ass whenever I use it in battle. Torterra, you rule. I really hope Ash's Grotle will evolve into Torterra, but I'm also really happy that Paul has one. Even though it got its ass handed to it by Cynthia's Garchomp.
  • Mamoswine is an awesome Pokémon. I always thought Swinub was adorable, and Piloswine was plain freaky, but Mamoswine is just awesome. It's a huge powerful mammoth pig. Mamoswine is the leading physical sweeper on my Hail team and it sure kicks butt. Dawn's Mamoswine is awesome too. It does nothing but eat and sleep. It is awesome.
  • Carnivine is just plain awesome. When it was first revealed, I thought it was like Weepinbell's answer to Bellossom: a split evo. Turned out that Carnivine has nothing to do with Weepinbell. Even though Carnivine is pretty weak, I intend to EV-train one in the long run, because I love Grass-types overall and Carnivine is just plain badass.
  • Drapion was one of my original team members when I first beat the Pokémon League. With its wide range of moves and strong attacking power, Drapion, along with Staraptor and Torterra, helped me get through numerous challenges in-game with its powerful Poison Jab, Ice Fang and Thunder Fang attacks. It was well worth spending 5000 Pokédollars on Safari Zone entry tickets.
  • Cacnea is awesome. It's a cactus with a face. How does it get more awesome than that? I mainly started liking it when James caught one in the anime. Why did he have to give it to freakin' Gardenia? Cacnea is on my to-EV list. I do NOT intend to evolve it, because Cacnea is awesome as it is. And its base stats and movepool are pretty decent too. Go Cacnea!
  • Staraptor was my Fly user on my original team with which I defeated the Pokémon League for the first time. Staraptor, along with Torterra and Drapion, were vital in defeating the Elite 4 with powerful Brave Bird and Close Combat attacks. Plus it's awesome.

Homage to my original Pokémon Pearl team
