Pokémon Hunters

Synopsis

Originally a series of Pokemon Comics to be done in the style of Dan-o-vision, a style of comic popularised by the artist Dan R. Miller in his works of Kid Radd: Wrath of CRystal (popularly accepted name of the Kid Radd comic available at http://www.kidradd.com), the artist Dake Desu, also known as Jamie Payne who is also linked to Elissa Payne, was to create a heavily stylised comic consisting entirely of battle pokemon and isometric overworld pokemon. The series heavily suffered as Dake, as she is commonly known online, found out that after several attempts at filler, she could not actually draw the Battle Style of pokemon by hand. Wanting to base it on original art rather than sprite edits, she abandoned this item. After seeing some items of pokemon not drawn in Canon style, decided to pick it up at a later date, after she has had some more practice at sprite artwork and working with Pokemon Characters.

Spoilers Warning

Please note this article includes _many_ spoilers, and should not be read in the hope that Dake actually completes the series. That is, if spoilers are not wanted when this comes out more fully that it already is (summaries, plot items, concepts, character sketches and artwork can all be easily found on Google).

Fanon Alert

A lot of the contents of this entry are fanon, as Pokémon Hunters is a fanon based series that has had a large ammount planned, just no competant artists.

Inspiration

After seeing Pokemon Pebble Version, and online web comic feature Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Versions of pokemon and a some what overly fanon fourth wall breaking web comic, the artist, Dake, decided to pull something inspired by Pokemon Pebble Version and Bob and George's Plague's Misadventures. Wherein the artist would make the best art she could, and produce something overly flashy, bright with a touch of misunderstanding. Only this time, without the typical "Ran dies" running gag of these style of comics. Think of it like Dragon Ball Zi|GT meets Pokemon. This is why Dake decided to be an extreme perfectionist with the comic, and has it currently on her back burner or projects.

Arts Styles

In Battle

Follows a very lose battle style similar to the main GB/GBC/GBA/NDS games, Pokémon Red. Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Green, Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Silver, Pokémon Crystal, Pokémon Ruby. Pokémon Sapphire, Pokémon Emerald, Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. This would be done with a large ammount of poetic license. With the front pokemon sometimes appearing to the right instead of the left. Sometimes with the front trainer facing some odd direction. With animations happening all the time--not just static sprites. This is Dan-o-vision that the style of this comic is being done in. Most of the animations would b e somewhat humourously based to follow canon style jokings and musings.

The battle screens would also have backgrounds. Such as the first match between Pilot and Kody vs. Daemon and 64, the Homicidal N64 appearing on the rooftop of Prof. Larch's Lab at Sun Down.

Isometric Overworld

The Isometric Overworld is somewhat of a misguiding idea. The Overworld, and In Battle bachgrounds would be done in Inkscape before being turned into raster graphics, shrunk down. They would just be highly stylised into Isometric styles, similar to Earthbound, and more notably, Megaman Battle Network. The sprites would be done in Megaman Battle Network Out of Battle style with a few, such as Kody and an Officer Jenny both having been worked on and scraped. For the most part they would be largely original, and _not_ edits.

Games

There were two "series" of games being planned.

Rental Battle

First one would be a series of Stadium/Battle Revolution Rental Style Battles featuring downloadable Rental Cards of all the characters in the recently finished battles. You could battle any character against the any other character. A time warp would also end up being allowed to allow silly battles like Pilot's First Appearance vs. End of Series Pilot.

There is also the ability to customise the Rental Cards, as they are written in JSON.

Pokemon Dream Game

Still under development, Pokémon Dream Game, with two versions Hunters Dream and Hunters Nightmare would be done with Dake's wishlist of game ideas to do in a game. Most likely allowing for Pokemon Hunters art, with alternative art, probably including IV Moemon artwork, and a few other things that tickle her fancy. Hunters Dream would follow along the adventures of Pilot, Kody and Katori. Hunters Nightmare would follow the path of Daemon and 64, the Homicidal N64. Hunters Dream would allow the player to make a gym somewhere, where as Hunters Nightmare would allow the player to join up the ranks of either Team Rocket, Team Magma, Team Aqua, Team Snag-em, Cipher, or ORGAN (the final one in the list not officially existing in fanon or canon... ORGAN does not exist).

Plot

Arc 1: A battle on the rooftops

Professor Larch is startled as two strangers enter itno his lab. Daemon and 64, a living N64, seem to demand they have starters. Somehow convincing Professor Larch to give them a starter, mostly through acts of random violence, Daemon gets an Eevee somebody was about to throw out, despite having two perfectly decent Pokémon (a Lopunny and a Gastly). 64 recieves a Piplup for his for real starter pokemon. 64, the, now apparently, Homicidal N64, then steals a Porygon and a Tentacool from the bin that Larch has reserved for starters. Though Prof. Larch notices there is an extremely high ammount of starters pokemon, noting he should not have just tapped this box into the "release code" of the Box software.

Pilot enters wanting her first pokemon. Prof. Larch gives her a Torchic and a Hoothoot. Pilot didn't seem to mind she didn't get to choose as she got two pokemon. Daemon amused, pulls out her Eevee to battle Pilot. Professor Larch tells them not in the lab, but instead to go upstairs to the stadium he built on the roof.

Cut to Kody waking up. He seems to be very forgetful this morning making two or three trips up and down a flight of stairs to his room. Atleast he won't show up to Professor Larch's in his Pajamas, like a certain other trainer. After racing down the road from Candy Law Town to Mankey Town (with a Noctowls' Convenance store, and possibly the odd Kentucky Fried Pidgy depending on the economy of Mankey Town). Kody gets there just to see the Stadium fold out of Larch's roof. He runs into the Lab. Larch was waiting for him and had a special breeder's Pokémon for him. A Pokémon every breeder would want. A Ditto.

Larch tells Kody about the two "thugs" who were there earlier. Kody runs up to the rooftop stadium, to help Pilot. At this point 64, the Homicidal N64, jumps into the battle to help Pilot, who really doesn't need help. 64, the Homicidal N64, doesn't help much, acting mostly like a standard RPG Lunatic ("Come on Piplup, learn revive self!" - 64, < Piplup becomes confused > < Piplup was confused and attacks Daemon's Eevee in its confusion >). This mostly done to handicap Daemon, as she has three Pokémon (including one Ghastly), 64 has three Pokémon, and the two main characters total three pokemon between them. Eventually in the Comic and Hunters Dream (possibly Hunters Nightmare too), Daemon and 64, the Homicidal N64, are defeated in this battle. After a lot of jeering and taunting between the two teams. In the Rental Battle Episodes, it is possible for Daemon and 64 to win, even if you aren't controlling them.

Regions Featured

Kingsland Pakistan

Based loosely around British Columbia, Canada. Saved for references to a city based around Vancouver having beach front property owned by Kid.

Soil Region

Based loosely around Alberta, Canada, only with distances somewhat grossly miscalculated. Its exports are Steal, Oil, Tourism and large monuments to various weird and crazy things. Including a moonstone landing pad, and North Amproca's largest Skarmory Statue (located in Bluefire town). The idea to make a Soil region based on Alberta was inspired by the Orre region being based upon Arizona. They would also export beef, but the United Democratic States of Amproca has put an embargo on the Soil Region, due to Mad Miltank Disease.

Day to Day life

The average person of the Soil Region follows the rouge category of Tourist or Red Neck. Mind you not everybody is a Red Neck. The Garyontana city in the Soil region has routinely been picked as a hot spot for Homosexual based literature for vacationing (based very loosely on media surrounding Edmonton). It is only thought of as coincidental that Gary Oak also likes to vacation in Garyontana. It is not often a real Pokemon Prof comes to visit Garyontana, not like that garbage Prof, Prof Larch, so people take notice. Sinnoh should take pride in the fandom for Gary Oak that the Soil Region has of this professor.

Food Habitats.

Will generally eat anything. However is spread between two main extremes. The vegans and the Meat Eaters.

Shelter

There are a few homeless shelters, but they are full. Due to a recent boom the housing costs have gone up. Though there has been a lot of development in the Urban regions. Though it is nearly impossible to currently live in Castle MacKennedy, unless a the resident is rich. Also due to the lack of shelter, tent cities are popping up in various cities. Usually they are a centre for crime and homelessness.

Other Needs

Due to all the crazy people in Soil Region (Yamaha, Gym Leader Red, Daemon, and the jury is still out on Sundance's sanity... and those are just main comic characters), as well as people injured due to not so freak smelting accidents, there is Assured Income for the Handicapped. or AIH (pronouned "AYH" like the typical Danuck phrase "eh").

Also there is a large education system designed to train people in basic living skills until age thirteen. After which Middle, Secondary and Post Secondary are completely optional. In Grammar school Pokémon courses are completely complimentary, Though in Middle and Secondary, more advanced techniques can be learnt. Middle and Secondary are also government funded--but not Post Secondary. Though some Left wing people arer trying to push for tuition freezes on Post Secondary, and possibly government funded Post Secondary.

Though due to how Pokémon training works in the Soil Region, most people do not have a High School diploma.

Family

Population Estimate
~3.5M
Population Growth
Very High
Child Rearing Culture

Generally either very left wing, or very right wing. Though there is also an amish community.

Politics

Generally riding on extremes of Left Wing and Right Wing. Though nobody can seem to turn out to vote. For some reason.

Arts and Entertainment

Well, there are plenty of things. First of there is the Milgarian Stadium Stampede. An event that happens in Milgary, involving Tauros and Miltank. Also most towns and cities have a Farmers' Market of some kind of some kind.

Also there is Snowpoint Days. A festival about an alleged nugget rush in Snowpoint City that takes place in Garyontana. Nobody really knows why Snowpoint Days (sometimes abbreviated to S-Days) takes place in Garyontana. Other than people allegedly stopped in Garyontana on their way to Snowpoint City's nugget rush. Some thought about changing the name of the festival has been given. Lately it has been called "Capital Z" (Z pronounced "Zed" like a good Danack), but people still accidentally refer to it as S-Days... there are also a few other more colourful names for the event starting with S, and ending with Days. One radio station, 100.3 the Ursaring, features a contest on the Tom Orange Show called "Seven Days" which lets you ride in an old style Hearse in the S-Days parade. Inspired by a hit movie of course. Not to be out done the Evan Terries in the Afternoon Show has the "Capital Z Contest" which includes Danuck trivia.

Soil Region is known for having two Pokemon Soccer teams and two Pokemon Hockey Teams. The Soccer team being part of the DSL (Danaca Soccer League) and the Hockey Team being part of the "PHL"

Cities and Notable Locations

Most of these Soil Region Names are humour parodies of locations in Alberta. If needed. The Talk page for this item might be utilised to try to guess as to what Soil Region location belongs to which Alberta, Canada location.

Chewbaccatuwan Region

Chewbaccatuwan is the local natives language's word for "So cool we need to be hit with a large Moonstone to be killed". Yeah. Not much justification here. Chewbaccatuwan might appear in a sequal to Pokémon Hunters.

Concepts

Ditto breeding

In Pokémon Hunters, Ditto breeding is explained to work as the following. When a Ditto retains a form for too long, it will duplicate the DNA and make an egg... even when in Battle.

Radio Stations

Taking a queue from Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Silver, and Pokémon Crystal the radio comes back. Featuring two rival radio stations, The Ursaring and Totodile Radio. There is also Super Fly, Bob FM, CKUA, The Shuffle, Big Spoink, HUGz Death Metal, Groovy 770, DBC and Golden Oldies.

Heroes

(In order of appearance)

Professor Larch

The most hated of Pokémon Professors. Nobody invites him to any parties of the other Pokémon Profs, is routinely made fun of, for his silly name "Seriously, who is named after a tree?" -- Prof Oak. Cannot even get the love and affection of the public. Everybody, at the very most is tolerated as a Pokemon Recycler and starter giver.

Pretty much stores everything everybody tosses out, and simply gives them as starters.

Pilot

After rushing to Professor Larch's lab to see him in danger from Daemon and 64, the Homicidal N64, Professor Larch gives Pilot a Torchic and a Hoothoot as her starters. Pilot does not talk, apart from Ellipses (...). This is normally filled in by the reader as to what she is saying. Katori seems to go into deep thought when Pilot talks to him. Kody seems inspired. Daemon gets down right frustrated. 64, the Homicidal N64, seems to gain inner amusement.

This is generally to follow the games' style of not having the main character talk for the most part, letting the PC fill it in h(is|er) head. However both Katori and Kody talk, and Kody is arguably more of a main character.

Pilot is known as Dake's sort of Cid character. Like the creator of Final Fantasy, Dake puts a character named Pilot in a lot of her works. Including some with as many as three seperate instances of Pilot... with more running around in the background. Pilot later borrows Kody's Ditto to fight Katori, and Ditto transforms into Shedinja, and produces an Egg. Pilot gives the Egg to Kody along with Kody's Ditto

Later on, Pilot steals a piece of technology that allows her to swap any pokemon with one in her storage anywhere--even in battle. This is stolen from the Neo Rockets, and is destroyed by the end of the comic and in Hunters Dream due to convenient plot device.

Kody

Kody is a mild mannered thirteen year old who just got his license and decided to visit Professor Larch in Mankey Town. Kody is from Candy Law Town, and walked to Mankey Town through various Miltank Fields to get his first Pokémon, a Ditto. He Later gains a Ninjask and Shedinja for a Nincada that hatched from an Egg his Ditto Lay. He also ends up breeding a Torchic accidentally. As a joke, he creates an egg containing an N64, after getting Ditto to transform into 64, the Homicidal N64.

Kody does not even try to plan to hatch it, though in Hunters Dream the PC is given the chance to hatch the N64 egg. 90% of the time it will have a naughty nature.

Kody does not wish to be a Pokémon master. Just the backup to said Pokémon master. That is why he latched onto Pilot. Originally he loses Katori's respect for Kody not wanting to challenge the Soil Region Elite Four and Champion. However with Kody's fierce love for breeding Pokémon, he quickly gains Katori's respect.

Helen (Kody's Mom)

Helen is Kody's mom. A Pokémon flourist and Grass type trainer.

In Hunters Dream, she will also store your money.

Katori

Rivals

Daemon

Daemon accidentally introduces the Cool Ragnarok ystal (CRystal) virus into her during a wet ware experiment causing her to go mentally askew by common terms of the area. Thinking she is the atd virus Daemon. She seeks out Pokémon of Time and Space, but mostly Time. She does not balieve she is a person, but a Dialga who can talk, and has lost the ability to control time. She seeks out this ability. Will often yell out "Roar of Time". In an attempt to get her Pokémon to move faster... this mostly confuses them more than anything.

She starts off with: Lopunny and Gastly. However convinces Professor Larch to give her an Eevee somebody discarded.

Inspired, loosely on the hit Canadian TV classic character, Daemon, from Season 3 and 4 (and parts of Season 2) of the Canadian Tv show "Reboot"

64 the Homicidal N64

64, the Homicidal N64, is an N64 that was given life as a spoof. Nobody knows where he comes from, or why he arms all his Pokemon with a "Dave" of sorts. All people know, is he has a large obsession with taking pictures of Pokemon, and an odd love of Todd.

Takes a Piplup as a starter, then steals a Porygon and Tentacool from the toss out pile.

Later he gets a Skitty and calms down a little bit.

Gym Leaders

There are ten gym trainers in the Soil Region, not all of them have been designed yet. The plan was to plan a few story arcs in advance.

Hiro

Stealling Steel Gym

Gym Type
Steel Steel and Ground
TM
Earthquake

A hot headed brawler as well as a gold digger. Doesn't have much for strong Pokémon. He uses Meowth's Pay Day, to the point of Meowth's exhaustion. His heavy hitter is a Cubone, however, due to his Gym being in a Steel town, he needs a steal type, he chose the simplest to get--his Steelix. Later on in Hunters Dream and Hunters Nightmare, he gains a Linoone with Theif, Covet, Rain Dance and Trick. Evolves his Cubone into a Marowak. Evolve his Meowth into a Persian (which still misuses Pay Day). He also gains a randomly chosen pokemon from a list of predetermined ones. However that far ahead has not been planned.

Katori

Touch Punch Gym

Gym Type
Ghost and Fighting
TM
None

Not a typical ninja, but mixes up Ghost and Fighting type, mostly ghost types though. His "clan" does not allow any outsiders in, without swearing an oath to keep the secrets secret. However due to him taking this oath, he cannot teach anything unless the student also says the oath. This also means that he needs to use weak pokemon in his gym.

He chases after Kody when Kody uses his ditto to make an egg of shedinja. Mostly with the purpose to steal the Nincada egg, as to keep secrets from leaking out on it. Later grows to admire Kody, and tries to convince Kody to join his clan, but Kody is more of a breeder than a trainer

In Hunters Dream the PC can have Kody and Pilot join Katori's clan which is a sort second quest. Hunters Dream and Hunters Nightmare have several of theses.

Red

Red Hot Fire Birds

Gym Type
Flying and Fire
TM
Overheat
Strategy
Misuse of revives. (He has atleast three for each of his pokemon)

Named after Red, Red is afflicted with Autism. He knows everything about Pokemon Battles. Just nothing much else.

Later on in Hunters Dream and Hunters Nightmare, you fight Red in a pitched battle for a Moltres.

Neo Rockets

This follows a lose interpretation based upon the Anime version of Team Rocket, as well as a flavoured viewing of Wicked Rockets, an online role play site featuring Team Rocket Roleplay.

After the upteenth assassination attempt on Giovanni, it would appear that Giovanni was finally killed. So Team Rocket disbanned. Thirty years later in its place the Neo Rockets formed. However, they are about as menacing as the Illinois National Socialist Party.

Neo Rockets will have five characters to appear in this series.

Yes, Dake is planning on including a Blues Brothers reference here:

Elwood Parody drives up to bridge in an old Officer Jenny Motorbike, with Jake Parody in the side car, and find the road is blocked
Random Officer Jenny walks down.
Elwood Parody (Officer Jenny)
So, little lady, can I have your number?
Officer Jenny
Grr... 867 5309
(Incidentally in Hunters Dream and Hunters Nightmare the PC can call this on h(is|er) phone and get Officer Jenny's Nearest Station)
Elwood Parody
Whats headed up ahead?
Officer Jenny
The Team Rocket Party just got their clearance from the Supreme Court. Now they are marching.
Elwood Parody
Soil Region Neo Rockets.
Jake Parody
I *HATE* Soil Region Neo Rockets
They drive through the demonstration making sure to get a good shot at their license plate to seal the reference.

Later on, for humour value:

Dr. Dave
I got their license plate. Belongs to one Elwood Parody. It reads all over Officer Jenny's computer like a bad rash.
Yamaha
Oh really?
Dr. Dave
And guess what, they like Moemon.
Moemon -> Mormon -> Catholic... unaccurate yes... but Dake finds it amusing for whatever reason.
Yamaha
Well, anybody with a record that bad is going to screw up. And when Mr. Parody does, I want to make him wish he was never born. Get all of the triregion area listen on their scanners. I want to hear when and where his every known position is.

Yamaha Moonstone

Yamaha Moonstone, the current leader of the Neo Rockets, is actually the previous leader Giovanni. When Giovanni was attempted to be assassinated for the final time, by a swat team of Elite Fours and Elite Four Champions, including the Kanto Indigo League Elite Four, the Johto League Elite Four, Red, Blue, Green, Gold, Silver and Crystal, a stray Ralts teleported in, and teleported Giovanni out. Giovanni appeared thirty years later in the Soil Region, as the Ralts teleported Giovanni through both space and time. Naturally Giovanni referred to himself as this an got locked up hiboku, a local Mental Institution. He took the identity Yamaha, and got caught up on current events. He was later released under the identity Yamaha Moonstone. An idenity he chose as it was to his liking. There is some thought given into the Pokémon Hunters than "Giovanni" is also a pseudonym.

Yamaha Moonstone then founds the Neo Rocket Political Party of Soil Region, and promptly gets half the seats from the Tories, with 15% of the Soil Region vote (only about 40% of the Soil Region actually votes though).

Dr. Dave

Originally studied for Dentistry, not really happy with his small Pokémon Dentist Practice in Bluefire town, started getting a PhD in weaponry studies. Started researching into Pokémon Weaponry. His specialty being sharp arms constructed from Skarmory feathers. In Pokémon Hunters, a "Dave" is synonymous with an illegal weapon, most often a knife, given as a hold item for a Pokémon. Commands Sun Dance and Kid.

Sundance

A Fire type/Grass type dualling Team Rocket Member. Male, with a strange affinity with Australian hats. Talks with an overly fake Aussie accent, almost to the point that he is no longer taken seriously by most of the cast. Is routinely made fun by Daemon and 64, the Homicidal N64. Often annoys Kody and Pilot with his over the top stereotypical Aussie appearance. Katori sits in silent agony at Sundance's every appearance. Sundance is named after the Sundance Kid.

Kid

An underage professional Pokémon poacher that specialises in childlike or cute Pokémon. Very female and acts very much like a cute little girls she is. However she does have a very angry side to her. Which is part of the reason she is part of Team Rocket. A very advanced five year old at Pokémon, was very angry that to get a Pokémon License in the Soil Region she had to be atleast thirteen years of age--one of the highest in the Pokémon world. So she started stealing Pokémon and later caught the attention of the Neo Rockets, and was asked to join. Since what she was doing was already illegal, and Yamaha and Dr. Dave had a lot of blackmail on her that is just itching to get to Officer Jenny, including ways to locate her, and various weaknesses.

The ways to locate her would include Sundance's and Kid's base of location. Sundance's and Kid's Pokémon stash locations. Finally Kid's Beachfront propperty in a city based loosely around Vancouver that may appear in a sequal to Pokémon Hunters. Her weakness would be overly cute Pokémon (including one incident where she had to change her underwear after viewing her first igglybuff (she will never live it down, and is constantly reminded by Sundance and Dr. Dave. Yamaha is kind of disturbed by the concept)) and the colour Green. She absolutely _hates_ the colour Green. This causes her to quite angry with her partner Sundance for being a Fire and Grass type trainer. So technically a cute looking Grass or other green pokemon, will likely cause a brain hemorrhage.

Random Villians

Thaltunnel City Nurse Joy

Inspired loosely on the "I hope you come back soon" sort of sinister tone of the Nurse Joy. Thaltunnel City Nurse Joy will actually do gambling Pokémon duals. The stakes? The team of Pokémon Team you lose with.

Items

Daves

Normally a form of knife, scimitar, sword, katana, throwing knife, axe, lockabre, throwing axe, etc., designed originally by Dr. Dave of the Neo Rockets. Generally an illegal set of hold items to give to a pokemon.

Has a chance on modifying any move to:

  • Give Critical Damage
  • Cause Flinch
  • Break through Detect or Protect

Has a chance on modifying a physical move to

  • Remove Light Screen, Reflect and Safeguard.

Has a chance on modifying a special move to:

Locations

Tent City

A place where homeless people can prop up tents so they might have shelter, and a place to sleep before heading to their job.

Noctowls Convenance Store

A convenance store featuring an Owl. Appears in many cities and some towns.

5/23 Convenance Store

A convenance store that rivals Noctowls. Appears in many cities.

Hot Torterra

A donut/coffee shop based around the hit Pokemon Hockey Player "Hot Torterra".

St. Alfonso's Pancake Breakfast

In the northern region on Soil Region, during the Winter season, (Soil has three seasons, Winter, Spring and Autumn) the Parish of St. Alfonso's opens up. Which just happens to be a House of Pancakes and Waffles (without the brandname). Leading the kitchen staff is Father Oblivion.

This is a little tribute Dake put to Frank Zappa in her comic plans.

Kentucky Fried Pidgy

One General's solution to the Pidgey overpopulation problem. Founded by General Chainsaw some time ago, to allow a family to get a good wholesome meal in a day an age nobody had time to cook for them. You can get hired here to catch Pidgy for them... they don't need to breed them, as this is meant to deal with the Pidgy overpopulation problem. With a free Shiny Pidgey in every Barrel.

Reason for quiting/putting on back burner

Mostly due to her art not being up to her own standards. Please do not check her Deviant Art account. Most of the "artwork" on there is stuff she did in 2k0, 2k1, 2k2, and 2k3... which even that is old enough, that she does not believe i to count to her current skill level. She hasn't touched her Deviant art account since about early 2k6. She will even admit the stuff on there is complete and utter tripe. However her main problem is she cannot seem to draw the difference between a HootHoot and a Torchic. Two extremely fundamentally different Pokemon and in her sketches she can barely tell them apart. Until she started highly emphasising the Eyebrows. Then she does not like how she draws her Eevee. About the only thing she was really happy with was a poorly drawn Caterpie, a not too badly drawn Shedinja, and a semibad Ninjask. Mostly because she thinks she can learn how to draw those ones better.

This makes it very bad for attempting to story board the comic.
