One of Aoki's final illustrations

Toshinao Aoki (Japanese: 青木俊直) was an illustrator for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. His first card, Surfing Pikachu, was released for the Japan Railways Group Train Rally in August of 1997, and his final cards were part of the EX FireRed & LeafGreen expansion in April seven years later. Even though he is no longer working for Pokémon Card Laboratories, his artwork is still being used. In the Rising Rivals and Supreme Victors expansions, a few of his illustrations were featured as the retro cards. In addition to Pokémon cards, his artwork was featured in the Pokémon Tales story books Pikachu's Day, Lapras Makes a Friend, I'm Not Pikachu, and Wake Up, Lugia!. In total, he illustrated 38 cards for the trading card game. For a list of cards he illustrated, go here.
