Prior to the events of Volume 9, Jasmine left two Togetic in the Daycare Centre near Goldenrod City. The egg that was born from them was passed on to Professor Elm for research, who then passed it on to Gold. The egg eventually hatched into a Togepi.

- Togetic's cry sounds the same as its name.
- Though it is a Generation II Pokémon, Togetic made its anime debut during the Generation III saga.
Origin
Togetic's design appears to draw inspiration from a fairy, a chicken, and an egg. It could also be resembling a baby bird, seeing as its pre-evolution is an egg and its evolution is a full-grown bird.
Name origin
The toge in Togetic's name is 刺, spike, and the tic is from an alternate transliteration of the corresponding part in its Japanese name, chick, as in chicken.
