Jolteon (Japanese: サンダース Thunders) is an Electric-type Pokémon.

Contents

Biology

Physiology

Jolteon is the result of exposing an Eevee to the radiation of a Thunder Stone. Jolteon is a dog-like Pokémon with yellow fur that has the sharpness of needles (Glaceon shares this same trait, but it's not as obvious). Jolteon also has a white, spiky collar.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Jolteon can use the same attacks that Eevee could use, with the addition of the ability to use Electrical attacks and Pin Missile. As a fully evolved Pokémon, Jolteon can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.

Behavior

Habitat

Jolteon usually are found near power plants. Due to the need of a Thunder Stone to evolve from Eevee, not many are found.

Jolteon in the anime

Jolteon first appeared in The Battling Eevee Brothers, under the ownership of Sparky.

Ash battled against a Jolteon in the Pokémon League Entrance Exam in The Ultimate Test.

In Get Along, Little Pokémon, Ethan used a Jolteon as a "sheep dog" of sorts. Whenever any of Ethan's Magnemite tried to escape, Jolteon would use Thunder Wave to lure them back.

Jolteon was also seen under the ownership of one of the Kimono Sisters in Trouble's Brewing and Espeon Not Included.

Pokémon Special

Red temporarily controls a Jolteon, which is actually his Eevee switching between its evolved forms.

Trivia

  • Jolteon is the lightest, tied with Glaceon for the shortest, and has the highest Speed base stat of the Eeveelutions.
  • Jolteon is the only Eevee evolution without a tail. Oddly, it can still learn Tail Whip and Iron Tail, due to Eevee having a tail.
  • Jolteon shares the same species name with Electrike. They are both known as Lightning Pokémon.
  • Jolteon is the third fastest non-legendary Pokémon.

Origin

It has traits of porcupines, rabbits, and cats. The porcupine traits are reminiscent to those of a species of porcupine known as the Crested porcupine, which lives in tropical Africa. The spikes are the same, except wider, bigger and taller.

Name origin

Jolteon's name is a corruption of jolt. Its Japanese name is a corruption of thunder, which happens to be Zapdos' Japanese name. Eon was Eevee's prototype name, which Jolteon evolves from.

In other languages

  • German: Blitza - Derived from "Blitz", which means thunderbolt. Ends with -a like every Eeveelution in German.
  • French: Voltali - Derived from volt, the unit of measurement of electric potential.
  • Korean: 쥬피썬더 Jyupisseonda
