A Team Aqua Grunt (Japanese: アクアだんしたっぱ Team Aqua Underling) is a type of Pokémon trainer that first debuted in the Generation III games. They are the peons of Team Aqua. There are male and female versions, but they all dress in the recongizable blue pirate outfits associated with Team Aqua. They generally act as footsoldiers and guards for Team Aqua.

They generally use a combination of Water-type, Poison-type, and Dark-type Pokémon.

A left over sprite has been found in the games coding. It is possible it may be a beta grunt.
