Um.....

About this walking Pokémon in HGSS, how do you ppl know Red will be in the game?--Darknesslover5000 16:13, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

He was in Pokémon Gold and Silver.--Dark ICE (User:Cold)(page, talk) 16:15, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Doesn't necessarily mean he'll return.--Darknesslover5000 20:56, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
For all we know it could be Leaf on Mt. Silver is you start the game as Soul. --Darknesslover5000 16:13, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
If it's Leaf if you start the game as Soul, then won't it be Red if you start the game as Gold?--Dark ICE (User:Cold)(page, talk) 16:20, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but the edit makes it sound as if it might just be Red waiting there.--Darknesslover5000 16:31, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
We don't actually have any confirmation of Red or Leaf. Here's the thing. They are remakes of Gold and Silver. Gold and Silver have Red. So barring some unfortunate circumstances, Red will be there in HGSS. If Leaf turns up for girls, that'll be a nice surprise, but at the moment it's Red. Kapeesh? —darklordtrom 07:19, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
but isn't this game a sequel to FireRed and LeafGreen?--Darknesslover5000 15:56, 2 September 2009 (UTC) If I'm right, I'm going to laugh so hard.--Darknesslover5000 15:56, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
wow I was an idiot--Darknesslover5000 19:02, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

guess I was wrong...

nothing ever lets me be right...--Darknesslover5000 05:10, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Recalling Walking Pokémon

What if a player of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions doesn't want the first Pokémon in his/her party to be out of its Poké Ball all the time? Barring riding the bike constantly or always being in small buildings, is there a way to make your Pokémon stop following you? - unsigned comment from Glitchipedia (talkcontribs)

Nope. Unless, potentially, you hack the game. But in regular gameplay there is nothing. —darklordtrom 22:30, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
I had that same question. Lucky me it's already answered.--Darknesslover5000 19:22, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Meowth

Doesn't Team Rocket's Meowth count as a Walking Pokémon in the anime? Taromon 19:39, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

It is mentioned there already. —darklordtrom 02:10, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Size

I'm not really sure why anyone would care, or why I do for that matter, but what are the limitations in HGSS in terms of size? Bigger Pokemon like Wailord and Arceus obviously aren't allowed to enter buildings, but how is this determined? Do Pokemon over a specific height get sent back into their Pokeball, or is there a list of Pokemon?--Skaisdead 23:31, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure but I'm guessing that all Pokémon can be taken into buildings; huge Pokémon like Onix and Wailord are scaled down considerably in the overworld sprites. Taromon 14:16, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
I know this, but certain Pokemon cannot be taken into buildings. During a very brief time playing the game, I recall seeing that my Arceus was put back into it's Pokeball whenever I entered a building. I'm guessing this is the same case for other sizeable mons.--Skaisdead 10:38, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
My Steelix will recall itself when I walk into a building. It's weird, because her sprite doesn't look proportionate to her reported size - it's larger than others, but not more than twice as tall as I am, despite being supposedly almost 30ft long - but she acts as though she were too tall to stand indoors. Yamikuronue 19:09, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
My guess is that Pokémon that have larger graphics sets in the game (64 × 64 images instead of 32 × 32 images) aren't allowed in buildings. If that is the case, then the list of Pokémon that aren't allowed in buildings are as follows: Steelix, Lugia, Ho-oh, Wailord, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Regigigas, Giratina (both forms), and Arceus. —Naokohiro 01:44, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

um...

considering what the released scans of the new Pokémon Black and White Versions look like, does that mean that walking Pokemon won't appear in the new games?--Darknesslover5000 18:30, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

They're pre-release screenshots. Game's still a work in progress, we know little-to-nothing about them... so info on BW is not going in this article yet. ▫▪Ťïňắ 18:47, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Mk, I was just curious though.--Darknesslover5000 19:01, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Infoboxes

in the Infoboxes, why are the images changed from the HGSS walking sprites back to standard Pokémon menu sprites?--Darknesslover5000 04:59, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Probably because of the lack of walking sprites in B/W.--Purimpopoie 05:10, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
ugh, talk about an inconvenience. AND WTF BLACK AND WHITE ISN'T HAVING WALKING POKÉMON?!?!--Darknesslover5000 05:25, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Following Unown

Lyra keeps calling me and telling myself to bring an Unown to the Ruins of Alph. What affect does this do?, as I could not find any difference, even when I had it walking behind me.--Shotoku64 11:35, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

As is probably noted in the article, taking certain Pokémon to certain places and talking with them will induce a specific reaction. A notable example is Ampharos in the lighthouse. —darklordtrom 10:01, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Picture and link

There is already a picture in the Archives which depicts the interaction with Pikachu in Pokémon Yellow, a function that is deeply explained in this article. However, we have two snapshots aside the text that unnecessarily show the same content. After I changed one of the pictures to the one already uploaded, my edition was undone. I also added a link to the HGSS official englsh site in the edition, but apparently it was also removed for some reason I don't know. Should this page remain incomplete or can I try to improve it?

RedPika.png Not a good picture, but sure better than just a repeated scene.

I'm confused...

So the other day, in my Pokemon game, I was walking indoors with my Arceus, and it follow me in. But whenever I had my Gyarados in the lead, it followed me. I'm confused about this. The article says if the Pokémon is too big, it won't follow you. I looked up their heights, too: Gyarados was 21'04", and Arceus was only 10'06". Can someone clear this for me? --Emdude 02:57, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Oh, nevermind, didn't read the whole article. derp. --Emdude 02:59, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

in the anime list

Can someone please help me with this list? Toon Ganondorf (t c) 11:21, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Additionally, I'm struggling with Pokémon who are outside their Poké Balls for some episodes but not others. For example, Harrison's Houndoom is seen walking beside him for his entire debut episode but stays in its Poké Ball for his other appearances. Luke's Golett is another. Any ideas? Toon Ganondorf (t c) 11:23, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
Possibly Jasmine's Magnemite? It was seen riding on her shoulder when she berated her subordinate for waxing her Onix. I don't remember if, when she used it in battle, it was from a Ball or not.--Aescula 11:10, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Tyson's Meowth

How about Tyson's Meowth in Boots ? Does it count ? He only returned it once to its Pokéball when it attacked Persian.----DJWolfy 18:28, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Sprites

I never played in the Dream World before, but I've seen in videos a place called the Entree forest there are Pokémon with walking sprites. The Pokémon introduced in generations I-IV appear to retain their HGSS Sprite and the Gen-V generation gain sprites, My point is: "While Walking Pokémon is not a available feature in Generation V, the animated walking sprites still appear in Entree Forest when the player's Pokémon befriends another in the Dream World." to be put on article, is it notable?--Igor (talk) 13:44, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Alexa´s Gogoat

Shouldn´t we add Alexa´s Gogoat, Clair´s Dragonite and Mrs. Ripple Purrloin?--Robin Maximo (talk) 22:57, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

anime redundancy

in the anime chart, isn't it redundant to say the trainer's name twice (ash's pikachu belongs to ash)?Alondon17 (talk) 19:01, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Kiawe's Marowak

If I'm honest, I would count Kiawe's Marowak as a walking Pokémon, most of the time Marowak like Turtonator is in its Poke Ball.--BigDocFan (talk) 16:40, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Overusage of term

Just because a Pokémon was seen outside of its Poké Ball for an extended period does not make it a Walking Pokémon and I think it’s being misapplied--KnightGalarie (talk) 20:19, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

"Walking Pokémon are Pokémon that walk alongside their Trainer when they normally would be inside their Poké Balls outside of battle." It mentions Trainers, not ordinary citizens. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 20:30, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
1) Thatcher was not a Trainer in his first appearance. 2) His Pokémon were recruited into a Pep Squad when he was. They’d have to be out in order to cheer. That does not make them Walking Pokémon.--KnightGalarie (talk) 20:35, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Then do you think you could look at this list and see what needs to be trimmed? It does look pretty lengthy anyway. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 20:41, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Lack of information on some Pokemon dialogue

Hello, I'm new to Bulbapedia edits but a longtime user. I thought I'd bring something up. I got dialogue with my Vulpix on Pokemon SoulSilver on route 48 that said "Oh. Your bag has some dirt on it." This happened multiple times, but now it's not happening anymore. Out of curiosity, I looked it up and several forum posts from 2010 are asking the same thing and going unanswered. If you scroll down you can find these. https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=224759 https://www.neoseeker.com/forums/44117/t1507454-pokemon-reactions/3.htm I was just wondering why I got it, as it seems really out of place, and I checked my bag and it seems I got a Lagging Tail that wasn't there before, but I'm not sure if I just got that at another time and was unaware. If it's relevant, I think my cartridge got accidentally ejected while the game was running, so I wonder if that's the reason why it happened.
