Reason for Venusaur

Just writing here that I created Spenser's Venusaur other than Spenser's Claydol for the same reason as Anabel's Alakazam: it received more screentime than Claydol. Since it was helpful in aiding Ash and his friends from the Beedrill attack, it adds even more reason for an article on Venusaur rather than Claydol. So yeah, that's why I made the Venusaur article rather than the Claydol article, even though Spenser used Claydol last. - spontaneousCombusken 05:59, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Gender

Should the gender be put at male? Mays venasaur had the seed, this one doesn't. However this was pre-gen 4 so it may not apply. - unsigned comment from TheAlmightyChris (talkcontribs)

Gender differences can't be used as proof for a Pokémon that debuted prior to #469. In Spenser's Venusaur's case, it never appeared in Generation IV where the gender differences apply, unlike May's Venusaur (a female), which first appeared as a Venusaur within Generation IV.
Note that gender differences can only be reliably used for forms that debuted within Generation IV. Some say that the return of Misty's Gyarados would have its whiskers be a telltale sign of gender, but such a difference could probably be called an animation inconsistency instead of a gender difference. --Shiningpikablu252 16:05, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
