Talk:Role Play (move)
- Takes the target's ability. TTEchidnaGSDS! 20:29, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- does it take it and leave the foe with no ability at all, or does the user copy the ability for themself? MAGNEDETHTALK RIDNEDOPT 21:02, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Well I think it's important to write whether or not the effects of Role Play stay after battle. Can someone who knows write that?--sHoggard - rookie Pokéwiz 11:35, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Baton Pass + Role Play
Can Baton Pass be used to transfer the copied ability or not? ~Male-Gardevoir
Move Toutor Error
Hey there is an error with the list about which pokemon can learn role play.
Upon double checking with Serebii and my own SoulSilver game there are Pokemon listed as able to learn Role Play when they are really able to learn Magic Coat. i.e. Meganium. I'm just going to leave this message here in case.
Magic Coat/Role Play mix-up
There seems to be a rather big mix-up regarding the Pokemon who learn these two moves. I'll be clearing this confusion up right now by going back to the source. --Gerridan 19:05, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Alright, the problem just seemed to be a simple switcheroo between the move tutor lists for Magic Coat and Role Play. There's still the problem of going over through each individual Pokemon page and fixing the moves... --Gerridan 19:26, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
What does it means 'replaces', until a switch out or permanently? It's not on the discription! Please somebody add it. Nickvang 18:07, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- This has made me wonder... What about other transformative abilities? IE, can Forecast or Imposter (as difficult as that would be) be copied by Role Play? Also, Trace is unable to copy Illusion, is Role Play similarly unable to? RiverShock (talk) 19:04, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
Trace OR same Ability.
Either Role Play doesn't work if the target has Trace, or when the user and the target have the same Ability. When I sent out my Kirlia with Trace against an enemy Kadabra with [[Inner Focus [Ability]|Inner Focus]], obviously my Kirlia gained Inner Focus. In the first and second turn of the battle, the opponent's Kadabra tried using Role Play, ending in a fail both times. Maybe someone can check whether it's impossible to use Role Play on a Pokémon who has/had Trace (since its Ability changed when it traced Inner Focus) or whether it failed due to both Pokémon having the same Ability? --Queenwillneverdie (talk) 12:40, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
