Talk:May's Skitty

From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.
Jump to: navigation, search

Could someone please improve this to the standard established in other character's Pokémon articles? For instance:

What the? Skitty was most certainly not in the first Advanced Generation Opening! And I really don't get the thing about Seviper, the Pokedex has no mention of them disliking Sevipers. And May's Skitty did not seem to dislike Seviper more then any of the other good Pokemon.

>Weren't Skitty, Beautifly, and Torchic shown running together toward May in the first opening?

And in "Zig Zag Zangoose" Skitty savagely attacked Ash while he was wearing a Seviper costume. It was explained that Skitty and Zangoose were both part of the same sort of family of creatures, and thus had similar feelings towards Seviper - Zeta

Skitty wasn't in the first opening, it was Torchic and Beautifly. Maybe it was added after it was caught.

Didn't it attack Nicolai aswell as Ash, playfully?

Gender?

The article uses she to describe Skitty but the text box only says Skitty is possibly female. If she is being used shouldn't Skitty definitely be described as female. It seems safe to assume she's definitely female unless Meowth is bisexual. --Woodland:M 15:51, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

I agre but what dos Mewoth have to do with this? Cerberus

In the episode (One of the only AG eps I happened to catch. ;>_>) where May gets Skitty, Meowth falls in love with the Skitty and tries to protect it from Team Rocket.
Also, if the article refers it to a she and then the infobox saying 'Possibly female'.. that's just lol wuuut. :p Tina δ 17:53, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Why did anyone put Possibably Female?? It either is or it isn't! I agree with Tina in saying that it's female. --Theryguy512 21:52, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, but whether we know it for sure is another matter. The question is whether Meowth falling in love with it is enough proof. (But that would just inflame the Pikachu gender debate...) --FabuVinny T-C-S 22:23, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

If Meowth is a male and he is smitten with Skitty then that proves Skitty is a female I would know if Meowth is bisexual Livinlarge18 22:59, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

It's probably true but Bulbapedia has this policy that unless a character confirms it, the Pokémon's gender remains ambiguous. Funny because no one in the anime ever said Ash's Charizard was male but we list him as male because of Charla. I mean for all we know, Charizard could be a lesbian. Quite hypocritical, wouldn't you say? --ケンジガール 03:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Exactly, if the policy can be thrown out the window for Ash's Charizard because of Charla then why should May's Skitty be treated any differently? I think we should change it back to female. --Wikid

Think so too, but for some reason this site is a little harsher on confirming if a Pokémon is female than male. --ケンジガール 02:15, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Not really. I don't mind much if Skitty's sited as a girl. TTEchidna 04:58, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh, yes. Let's see what would happen if there were no homo ships then. Meowth is male. Pikachu is female. Buneary is MALE? It's the Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links05:01 29 May 2008
Well I know some people do. Some will fight me to the death if a gender wasn't confirmed by someone saying it. --ケンジガール 05:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Since the main argument for keeping it female was that the rule was thrown out for Charizard (which has since been revoked), can I change gender to unknown? The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 16:36, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

If we said Ash's Charizard is male because of Charla, then we should do the same thing for Skitty. Anyone else agree with me?--Starlight the ampharos 20:58, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Nope, because we don't anymore. The Dark Fiddler - Is teh Pedia laggin 4 u 2? 01:23, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Reappearance in DP

So what, she's allowed to have seven Pokémon in her party? --ケンジガール 08:37, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

She could have easily gone to a pokemon center and traded one of her other guys for skitty - unsigned comment from Cahillbro (talkcontribs)

Isn't it odd?

Meowth showed affection for Skitty in the first episode she appeared in. Tell me, has Meowth ever showed his infatuation for her ever again? It's the Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links05:06 29 May 2008

I think once more after that. Then that was it. --ケンジガール 05:08, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Which episode was it, by the way? It's the Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links05:10 29 May 2008
Probably due to this Skitty being on the hero "twerp" alignment and Meowth being on the dark "Team Rocket" alignment.
Granted, Meowth did fall for a different Skitty in Chronicles 21 part 2...--Shiningpikablu252 05:12, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Are they sure 'bout this?

"Apparently, Skitty in general are distantly related to Zangoose, as May's Skitty shares that species' dislike of Seviper, although this dislike is not as strong as that felt by a Zangoose. "

I know mongoose are related to cats in reality but where did they get this. Never seen it in trivia before. Does this mean that Glameow/Purugly are also related to Zangoose?- unsigned comment from Pseudo Legendary (talkcontribs)

Ground group says... yeah, likely. Don't put that, though. TTEchidna 08:55, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

They don't have to be related to dislike Seviper.--Mtn otter We are the Void 18:57, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

On hand or Status unknown?

I don't know where is Skitty now: On hand or Status unknown? I saw in May article as Skitty is Status unknown, and in this article as her status is "with May". What happened?

May has 7 Pokémon, and all of them were used when she was in Sinnoh. As only 6 Pokémon can be carried by a trainer at any one time it is unknown which of her Pokémon isn't in her current party. That is what it is meaning by "Status unknown" in this case. Werdnae (talk) 22:54, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Implications and proper grammar

Since when is proper grammar such a bad thing that you pin it on me that I revert people who disagree with me? I'm not disagreeing, I'm CORRECTING. You can't just have a parenthetical statement in the middle of a sentence like that!--Derenol232 18:20, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Which was which??

I found something that is maybe wrong. Could someone please correct it?

In the next episode, Skitty let herself out of her Poké Ball on a whim, before running away on May, who had to chase her. This became a running gag, including in Maxxed Out!, where Max told Max that Skitty was generally a troublesome Pokémon and required a disciplined Trainer. It barely paid attention when introduced to the other Pokémon, but succeeded in (unintentionally) keeping Jessie away from Max's Surskit by snapping at her hair. It later used DoubleSlap to defeat Jessie and allow Surskit and Pikachu to blast them off.

P.S. I made the wrong part in bold letters.

--This is Harv13 12:37, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

It's correct. There was another kid named Max in the episode. That's the pun of the episode title. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 12:42, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Wow, that pun was deceiving. Thanks for the info! :)

Assist

Is it trivia worthy that May's Skitty is the only Pokémon to have used Assist in the anime? --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 06:14, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

If that is trivia-worthy, then any move used by only one Pokémon anywhere in the anime is trivia-worthy. Pikachu's Volt Tackle doesn't count since only Pikachu's family can learn it, but are there other examples like this? CycloneGU (talk) 07:01, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Sho's Raichu used Volt Tackle in Pika and Goliath!, so Pikachu using Volt Tackle doesn't count. Another example of a Pokémon being the only one to use a certain move in the anime, but not as good as this one, is Ash's Pignite for being the only one to have used Fire Pledge in the anime, or any Pledge move in that matter. The reason why this is as such is because even thought the Best Wishes series ended, we need to wait until the XY series ends as well to see if any other starter Pokémon might use a Pledge move. Plus, Assist hasn't been used since the Advanced Generation series, so I think enough time has passed to see if another Pokémon might use this move. --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 00:01, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
I'm thinking the intent behind having Skitty using Assist was simply to show off the move. Assist is an unpredictable move in all ways of putting it, so I think it might be worth noting it. Can this be considered the reason? I don't know, but it makes sense to me. CycloneGU (talk) 01:33, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I'd say it's notable. It hasn't been used since the AG series, which was a while ago.--ForceFire 02:58, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
