Swablu (Japanese: チルット Tyltto) is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon.
It evolves into Altaria starting at level 35.
Biology
Physiology
Swablu is a round, blue parrot-like creature with two long feathers on top of its head, similar to the hairs on Ambipom's head, and fluffy, white wings that resemble cotton or clouds. It has a short, rounded white beak, white feet, and small blue tail feathers.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Swablu can sing Pokémon and people to sleep, and cleans things with its cottony wings.
Behavior
Swablu have a low tolerance to dirty things; they love to rub their cottony wings onto dirty, dusty objects. Once their cleanup is made, they fly to a nearby river and wash their wings, removing all dirt and dust. They usually are not afraid of people, and tend to lay on their heads.
Habitat
During spring, Swablu flocks move closer to human populated towns. They use geomagnetic waves to know where to fly.

In the anime
Major appearances

After the wing was healed, it took Ash and company some time to give the Swablu the courage to fly again. At the end of the episode, Swablu was going to come with May until it was re-united with its flock.
Minor appearances
A Swablu has also appeared in That's Just Swellow under the ownership of Shane.
A Swablu appeared in Pursuing a Lofty Goal! as one of the participants of PokéRinger competition.
Several Swablu appeared in The Lonely Snover.

Trivia
- Swablu and Onix are the only dual-typed Pokémon whose evolved forms have a different primary type, but the same secondary type. All other dual-typed Pokémon that evolve either evolve into a Pokémon with the same two types or have the secondary type change.
- Although Swablu can know False Swipe if hatched from the egg obtained in Pokémon Box Ruby & Sapphire, it is incompatible with the TM introduced in Generation IV which teaches the same move.
- As of Generation V, no other Pokémon have same dual egg group as Swablu's family. In this case, both in Flying and Dragon are unique.
Origin
Swablu is based on a Bluebird combined with cotton or a cloud. It also shares traits more specifically with the ultramarine lorikeet. Behaviorally, it is similar to the Grey Jay in that they are both given to sitting on people's heads.
Name origin
Swablu's name is likely a combination of the words swab, referring to its cotton swab-like wings, and blu, a misspelling of blue, the color of this Pokémon. Swa may also refer to swallow, a type of bird.
Tyltto may refer to Tyl, also known as Epsilon Draconis, a star in the Draco constellation. It is likely a reference to the play L'Oiseau Bleu ("The Blue Bird") by Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck. The story is about two siblings, Mytyl and Tyltyl (ミチル and チルチル in the Japanese translation of the play) who are tasked with finding the "blue bird of happiness."
