Static (Japanese: せいでんき Static Electricity) is an ability introduced in Generation III. Twelve Pokémon have this ability, all of which are pure Electric-type.

Effect
In battle
When Pokémon with this ability are hit by a move that makes contact, there is a 30% chance that the attacking foe will become paralyzed. This can affect Ground-type Pokémon.
Outside of battle
From Pokémon Emerald onward, having a Pokémon with this ability at the front of the player's party also increases the chances of finding Electric-type Pokémon in the area.

Pikachu. The opponent hits Pikachu, then static electricity is seen around its body, paralyzing it.
- Activated by Ash's Pikachu from Balance of Power to Present. Debut.
Elekid. When Elekid gets hit by a Physical attack, or uses a Physical attack, static electricity appears around the opponent, paralyzing it.
