Spider Web (Japanese: クモのす Spider Web) is a non-damaging Bug-type move introduced in Generation II. It is the signature move of the Spinarak evolution family.

Contents

Effect

Spider Web prevents the target from switching out. The effect applies as long as the user remains in battle. The target can still switch out by using Baton Pass, but in that case, the Pokémon that switches in will become trapped.

If the user switches out using Baton Pass, the effects of Spider Web will still apply to the target. Also, if the target is hit with Roar or Whirlwind, they will still be switched out.

If a wild Pokémon uses Spider Web on the player's Pokémon, the player will be unable to escape, unless the player's Pokémon has Run Away.
