Shoal Salt

The Shoal Salt is an item in Generations III and IV. In Generation III, four Shoal Salts can be be given to the man in Shoal Cave along with four Shoal Shells to receive a Shell Bell. In Generation IV, the Shoal Salt does absolutely nothing. Due to a mistake in the Nintendo Power Pokémon Diamond and Pearl guide, there is a rumor that the Shoal Salt functions like the Leftovers. However, multiple tests in-game have shown that the Shoal Salt does nothing; it is in fact the Shell Bell that functions similarly to Leftovers, itself created in Generation III from four Shoal Salts and four Shoal Shells.

Generation III

In Generation III, the Shoal Salt can be found at low tide in Shoal Cave.

Generation IV

In Generation IV, the Shoal Salt can't be obtained in-game. Therefore, the only way to get one in Generation IV is to have a Pokémon in a Generation III game hold one and transfer it over via Pal Park.
