Ruby glomping Wally.

RaltsShipping is a ship from Pokémon Special, involving Ruby and Wally. While this ship will probably not wind up becoming canon, it does have its share of subtext.

When Ruby first meets Wally in Petalburg Woods, Wally is kneeling on the ground out of breath. He's been trying to catch a Pokémon, despite the fact that he's extremely sickly. After seeing Ruby's Pokémon fighting the wild Pokémon Wally scared, Wally compliments Ruby's strength. While Ruby generally downplays his own strength, in this instance he acts extremely proud, and hugs Wally after he says this (image to the right). After this, Ruby invites Wally to join him on his journey.

Later, Ruby is involved in a contest in Verdanturf Town when he thinks he sees Wally in the audience. Anxious to meet him again, he follows "Wally" outside and stops him from getting on a bus by having his Feebas cover the entrance with Ice Beam, angering many people. And after all that, it turns out that it was just Wally's cousin, Wanda, all along! Wanda tells Ruby that Wally was in Verdanturf, but now he's moved to a hospital. This leaves Ruby despondent.
