AdvanceCloneShipping is the belief in a romantic relationship between May and Ritchie. There is very little evidence of this ship due to the fact that May and Ritchie have never met nor have they even heard of each other. However, it still has supporters. Most of them are PokéShippers.

Similarities

• Both May and Ritchie own a Fire-type starter Pokémon; Blaziken and Charmeleon, respectively; however, it is still unknown if Ritchie actually started with Charmeleon. Also, they both own Bug/Flying Pokémon that happen to be based on butterflies; Beautifly and Butterfree, respectively.
• Another similarity is that they both traveled through time and changed the course of the future for someone else by saving someone's life in the past.
